Thanks. oi he was on a split shift so a 10.5 hour day and on his feet the whole time. I can understand that he just wants to relax when he's home but it's just as tiring looking after a screaming baby and a 3yo with a broken arm, let alone trying to get anything else done.

He says he understands but I don't think he realises just how much I do. I've been up since 4.40 this morning. After he went back to work I've put both DC's to bed, washed and made bottles, made two lots of purée, prepared tomorrows tea for the slow cooker, fed guinea pigs and cleaned out the chicks. I still need to tidy the front room and have a shower before I can sit down and ignore the pile of ironing looking at me

Sorry I'm ranting again.

aethel not rolling is definitely a bonus! I make DS sit on the floor and keep Eva entertained when I change her, he's the only thing interesting enough to stop her rolling away!

Sorry, X post seven. Hope next week is a better one. Is DS coping OK with the arm- sounds like he's doing well, but can't be fun in this heat?

Thanks for thinking of me aethel don't think I'll really feel safe until DS reaches his 1st birthday. My brother was just 5 days shy of 6 months when he passed so it's been on my mind a lot recently; I really hope I can breath a bit easier when we pass this milestone though & we're just 10 days away!

Oi PLEASE DO NOT CUT BOi'S HAIR!!! It's not just your family that loves it. We are all very jealous of his flowing locks in my house. :)

seven sorry about AF & your DH; sounds like he needs to mum-up. I've had similar behaviour from my OE (other eighth) recently. I've seen those mothercare frames on ebay so you might be able to get one to match yours exactly, actually considered one myself but DS is such a wrigglebum I thought it pointless. Try searching baby impression frame.

seven I hope things settled down for you this evening and that you have a good night.

Aloe for lmf we have managed to avoid it so far, tis usually DP who burns here.

I spent the afternoon in PIL's garden, the DDs had lots of fun running naked through the sprinkler for several hours while Miri, DP and I relaxed in the shade and giggled at them.

My plans for the week include a day at the really good park, home ed group and packing ready for our long weekend away! Yours?

My friend's grandchild is not here yet. The parents-to-be are 4cm dilated and at hospital. Grin
BOi had a lovely day in the garden, shaded all day under a big umbrella. He didn't sleep though, and has fought it all night. He's asleep now but keeps waking.
I'm off to Germany on Tuesday, back Wednesday night. Expressing to stop me bursting is going to be awkward during the day, and of course I'll just have to pump n dump. What a waste. :(
Goodnight all. Hope we get some sleep despite the temp. The grow egg says 23 degrees in here. We have both windows open, plus the door, and the humidifier on. BOi is wearing a nappy and a sleepsuit, no covers.

Well I had a lovely weekend. Day in Windsor on Saturday and day chilling in my garden yesterday. Back to normality today

Sorry you're having a shit time seven :(

Glad you enjoyed Windsor DSM.

I'm with you on the marquee LMF, my fair skin needs big protection.

Know what you mean about the calpol aethel, but you're dead right to give it to him if he is uncomfortable/unhappy, it's not like you're shoving it down his gob all the time for no reason!!

Minim hasn't obliged on the roll yet but she's bum shuffling on her back so much I can't leave her on her own on the playmat in the sitting room anymore while I get on with stuff in the kitchen cos she's at risk of bashing her head off table/sideboard or mantelpiece surround :( she will roll this week I'd say. Funny how she showe zero sign of it, then suddenly one day just decided to try! I'd say life will get a lot more complicated once she's on the move.

Gorgeous day again yay! (factor 50 at the ready) but my husband is off abroad for 3 days/2 nights-first time on my own w minim-I'm actually nervous, such a wuss!

Hi everyone, we had a lovely weekend and DS has been SO good. Went to a first birthday party yesterday and he played for ages with a 2yo and 3yo and they all took turns play cooking in a playhouse in the garden, were really sweet with each other, no grabbing or pushing, lots of sharing. It was soooo lovely to watch and hilarious how they were chatting away together. Made me feel very proud :)

DD also been on her best behaviour although she is taking a while to settle in the evenings now, not sure if its the heat or teething.

No more rolling here. She did it once a month ago and never again! She rolls onto her side all the time though, particularly in her cot!

I'm loving this weather. Its meant to rain tomorrow so will be making the most of it today with paddling pool, ice creams etc.

I'm a tad worried about leaving BOi with Dh overnight. DH is really good with him, but he gets stressed when BOi is stressed. - and they do tend to work each other up. ...He'll be fine, I know.
Boi did not have a good night last night. Again. He slept in his cot, but rolled onto his side. Everytime I put him back flat (after a feed, or calming) he went straignt back to his side. He was in his crib, so there wasn't any room for him to continue to roll onto his front, so that was OK. But the poor thing just kept coughing. :(
He's at mum's today. Usually SIL has him, but BIL is back in hospital for more surgery. (he'S 41/42, 3 kids, 1 grandchild, had brain tumours for years, and lots of ops, 3 yrs ago they gave him a few months... he's had more brain ops, and now has tumours on his spine. He had some gamma knife treatment on his spine a couple of weeks ago, but this week, I think they are tackling a tumour near his skull. :( ).
better news - Just just just go the text: My best mate is now a grandmother. Lyla Faye arrived this morning, weighing a rather remarkable 9lb 4oz. The mum had to have forceps to help out - poor thing. I don't know any more details. Hurrah for Lyla Faye!

Oi I'm sure BOi & DH will be fine. I was worried about leaving DP at the weekend with both the girls and he was absolutely fine.

Today I am going to blitz the housework as being away at the weekend it looks like a whirlwind has been thru it :( Told DP to never tell me again that he has to do all the housework when he gets home as I never leave the house in this state!

Sky keeps rolling over and tries to crawl then gets frustrated as she's not moving anywhere - quite funny really.

Quick plaice marking, DS has been a screaming nightmare of teething & poo this weekend.

Oi, sorry to hear about all the problems your BIL has had. Hope he has a successful surgery.
Congrats to your best mate! Ooof at 9lbs 4!

mopsy, we're getting rid of our coffee table as DS has smacked into it a few times (not serious, it's just a massive lump of solid wood)!

Are you supposed to put sun cream on babies? I thought it was a no-no because of their skin? Woops!

Report
HoneyLovesCake · 28/05/2012 11:36

Rocco has completely forgotten how to roll or crawl Confused he didn't really have any tummy time last week because of his cold & he seems to have lost the knack. He just spins in circles when I put him on his tummy & then complains loudly.

Oi might be just what your DH needs to give him the confidence to handle BOi. My OH always acted completely helpless around the house until I had my hands full with DS & he had to start cooking & cleaning for himself, he even puts his own washing in the machine Shock & is entering our village Jubilee Fete's Men Only Bake A Cake Competition on Sunday. I still wouldn't leave him in charge of my PFB for longer than it takes me to wash my hair Wink but he's come a long way since last year.

Had a lovely day yesterday, bought sun loungers, went for a cream tea & then to the GPs for Risotto & Cheesecake. Really need to start watching what I'm eating!

I'm waiting for DS to wake from his nap now so that I can go to the post office to return the blackout curtain liners that some silly woman sold to me as curtains Angry. Plans for the week include getting my braces tightened on Thurs , going to baby group & hopefully going here on Wed with FIL's DP which I am sooo excited about :) And of course I have to do a trial run of the recipe my OH wants to use for his cake...he's making this one: jubilee cake it's vanilla but I think it would be nicer as a lemon cake with the fruit; what do you think?

AWCH I think we're supposed to keep them out of the sun before 6 months, put them in the shade, loose clothing, hat if they're outdoors but if you can't fully protect them that way then sunscreen is ok...please someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong.

DS rolled off the bed this morning :( He seems fine, its low and he landed on all fours. Doesn't seem to have any lumps or bumps but i'm keeping an eye on him and I feel absolutely awful.

DP is being horrid about it and its now escalted to him threatening not to come home tonight because apparently he doesn't need to be bothered with things like this when he's at work. I'm half tempted to tell him not to bother.

Sorry for the me post but i'm so angry right now. Its almost as if he thinks being a father is a part time thing.

Please don't feel too bad about it, we all do it! x

Gah, DS keeps on biting his tongue! Any tips on how to stop it being a problem?! Aside from wishing his other teeth to come through.

HLC, that's what I thought! We've been avoiding midday sun so he's not been expose to it.
Hope Rocco remembers how to do baby stuff soon!!
I love lemon cake so am slightly biased!

BJR Sorry your DP is being an arse. Kids have accidents, will he do this each & everytime? Don't feel too bad, Darcie fell off the bed twice as a baby and is fine. Maybe tell him not to bother until he realises how unreasonable he is being!

AWCH Sorry no idea on how to stop DS biting his tongue.

Honey Good idea about using the purees as dips. Will do that with Darcie most def.

bjr glad LO is OK. It must've been pretty scary, and upsetting, so massive mouldy haddocks to your DP who should've thought before he opened his mouth. Very silly!
honey Heartlands does indeed look like an interesting place. Enjoy! And THANK YOU for that BLW link! What a fantastic video! am grinning from ear to ear! I shall be showing it to DH tonight. I think I'll buy some fruit on the way home.
Because I'm not at home during the day, I thought I'd start a bit of weaning a couple of weeks early. BOi is 24 weeks. So on saturday he had a bit of my mushed up fried egg, which he really liked - I jsut swished his spoon so some stuck and assisted in helping him to find his mouth - and then we just let him loose with the bowl and his hands - he showed more interest in eating his bowl. of course. :) On Sunday, I gave him a stick of brown wholemeal toast with butter. He had a really good chew on that, he made lots of bits very soggy, but probably didn't injest anything. It was great.
I then read last night that eggs are supposed to be thoroughly cooked...Blush But neither me nor DH have any allergies, so we'll probably get away with it. I'll cook it properly in the future, honest.
At the Weaning talks, the lady stressed how you shouldn't start til 6 months, and then how you had to introduce every single food under the sun before 7 months. This scared me a little - how can I do this when I'm back at work. It means packing a packed lunch for him every day...
The BLW book says that they don't really eat properly until about 18 months, so BLW shouldn't be rushed. Phew! I'm happy to start preparing bits of fruit for him to have whilst at mum's and SILs, but I'll wait to see a few weeks to see how he gets on before doing this with nursery.
I need to write a plan. (I think there might be some in the book, I'll check tonight.) The video on youtube makes it all very exciting. I might make a video. Very clever. Grin

oi with BLW I would just relax about variety and hand over whatever you are having/is handy. Miri has tried food a couple of times now, thus far she has tried bananas, pears, strawberries and had chicken stir fry (without our soy sauce full sauce!) last night! Tonight she is having mince and tattles.

That's what I thought msb. But we very rarely eat fruit. I'm not a fan, really. Piles of lovely veg, absolutely! But not much fruit. We are healthy eaters, as a rule, but... er... Boi has thus far tried: toast, fried egg, ice lolly, choc ice, drips of vimto, drips of orange cordial...
Bad bad bad!
He will only be having water in his sippy cup, but as he dives for my glass/cup everytime I have a drink, I had to show him what it was, didn't I? Grin
He loved the little tastes of ice cream. Bad bad bad mum. I know. But he practically wrestled me to the floor for it, and he's stronger than me! It was very funny. And they were Marks and Spencers. he he he! He only had a little bit. Honest! He'd have a taste, and make comical mouth tasting moves. then dive at my choc ice and reach out for more ...dairy - I know! so wrong!
As i said, we're made of stern stuff in our families, no intolerances/allergies, so hopefully he'll survive my dodgy weaning practices.
Note to self: must try harder!
Text just in from the mortgage lender: "We have received your valuation. We will contact you shortly" - I've not received my valuation! Unless its in today's post. Weeeeeeee! Grin
