Erk I have a basket of ironing to do too. Plus loads of housework and im really not feeling it this morning. Thinking of trying some hayfever remedies, just in case this cold is in fact, hayfever. Not that I've suffered before! Any recommendations?

My boobs are so swollen and full this morning, even after feeding Asa. Would I be making more milk because of the heat or should I be worried?

Sorry, a bit meme today... Snuffle, sneeze, snot....

SAHM, how much do you get a month for food/household stuff? And those of you who have other children....when do they start getting expensive/should I ask DH for an increase in ££?
I do all the ironing when DS is sleeping (hahahaha!) & DH isn't in.

Rash, I got hayfever for the first (and last) time 2 years ago, I found the cheap tesco tablets (under £1 for 12/14-ish) done the job good. They work on DH who gets awful hayfever every year.
I wonder if you're making more milk because you're drinking more cos it's hot? I've got no idea! But I hope you feel better soon!

Oi, hope you enjoyed your stay East Germany!

I'm sorry, what is this i-ron-ing of which you speak?

plus -shh- DS seems to be actually having a small nap!!!

We have a napping baby and a napping daddy here whilst I blitz the housework!!

35+ things ironed, 5 items left! How do other people get away with it? What's the secret?!

(1 hour and a tuna sarnie later...)

AWCH thanks I'll see if Tesco express have them when I pick dd up from nursery. Worth a try! And that does make sense re milk production, I drank 4 pints of water yesterday on top of my usual tea consumption and an orange juice! Ds seems to be enjoying the fruits so hopefully I'll feel less swollen soon.

Gave ds some purée earlier, sweet potato and carrot. He pulled some hilarious faces but opened his mouth for more so think he's ready to start now. He's 24 weeks on Friday so a good time to start anyway

Hmmm, hung my nice clean white bedsheets out to dry. Check on them, they're dry already but with a nice big smear of bird poo! Grrrr. In they go again.

GeeandTee · 30/05/2012 13:22

I don't do any ironing. Take it out of the washing machine while hot, shake out the creases and hang up. DH irons his own shirts!

Loratidine (sp?) is the generic of Clarityn, certirizine is either piriton or benadryl. Both are good as long as you're not breastfeeding

Both meaning either. Please don't take at the same time! >_

Ah drats! What's suitable for breastfeeding? Of course, it might just be a cold...

Naughty birds, Gee!! My car is usually a target, often the bit of windscreen the wipers don't cover!

Piriton (chloramphenine) is Ok i think rash (check with pharmacist) BUT you have to take it 2-4 times a day and it makes some people dopy.

Report
LittleMissFlustered · 30/05/2012 14:42

I can have piriton?! Pharmacist lied! I'm off to check with a different one!

We have sore leg and neck chub (from sweat?), best course of action? Cotton wool and water then sudocreme?

Report
aethelfleda · 30/05/2012 18:53

LMF, there's a link here : they say piriton is fine but best used only for a few weeks at a time when BFing in case it makes baby drowsy (though not a problem unless it stops them feeding). They recommend loratadine (which is cheap and over the counter but doesn't work for everyone.

misree, sudocrem is great for heat rash in little crevices.

I have had the best day with DS in a long long time: after the morning nap he was fine, but then napped again after lunch for 45 minutes. This is unheard of! Have made the most of the extra time, DDs have started making bunting, tidied and even had a sneaky relaxed cuppa and did some work prep stuff. Bliss. And it was a huge relief to have a better day after the recent hot and yucky ones: reassures me that my lovely baby is doing just fine.

how's life in the Gulag, oi?

Thaks for that aethel! I have been fobbed off! I used to take loratadine for my hayfever, but was told that I couldn't have it at all while breastfeeding. So I have suffered through the summers! I will be marching my backside down to Tesco tomorrow and stocking up!

Been a warm day, looking forward to the temoerature drop tonight:)

Hope everyone has a good night.

Hope Oi is enjoying being reunited with BOi:)

Hi all! Went for lovely walk in the park this morning, then into town and bought three dresses, two tees and a sunhat for minimopsy. Soooo cute! And all for the total of £24-not too bad I think, especially as I've only bought her a few babygros since she was born-she's been living in hand-me-downs. So this was quite the spree for cheapskate me!

Report
NorthernChinchilla · 30/05/2012 21:12

We indulged in four playsuits for DS, so I felt spree-tastic too Mopsy! As long as he's presentable and non smelly I'm not too bothered, but nice to occasionally get something in for them.

Am feeling knackered, a day of meetings and awkward people. Am going to do the dream feed early and go into work half an hour later, just so I get a solid night. I really don't get why I'm this tired- I actually felt less so when on mat leave, and I know loads of you have far more right to feel tired with getting up in the night Confused!

DP irons about once a fortnight, but it's only really some of my workshirts that need it. We've just moved to a proper joint account AWCH, after being together 9 years and living together 8, so we just pool everything. Feels very odd, but I believe I can now just about trust DP not to go off and spend it on computer magazines....

Hope you've landed safely Oi, and you're back stroking that lovely head of hair Grin

Evening ladies - quick catch up from me. Life has been very hectic here recently and no time to MN! I try to read the thread but then don't have time to post.

Have been loving the hot weather and been busy out and about a lot and not doing any DIY - which has been nice. also we had family from Denmark over - we had a lovely time but very busy. DS was exhausted by sunday night. Freya coped ok with the heat but we kept her in the shade mostly - hopefully we will cope ok in Portugal in 2 weeks time. I think she is teething though and has been grumpy the last couple of days.

We just have a joint account at the moment too but I do struggle a bit on maternity leave as dont like to spend that money on stuff for me so have been using savings and DH transfers me some as and when I need it.

Am happily home. Grin today's meetings were good. I did the guilty absent parent thing and bought BOi a little present from the airport. As I was skipping to the carpark I was almost in tears thinking how BOi would be in my arms within the hour. Very excited and emotional. Awful traffic put a stop to that. But it was worth it as I walked up the path and mum was holding him by the window and he was smiling and leaning towards me. Gorgeous. Glorious. Fantastic.
And then I drowned him in my enormous engorged massively sore swollen boobs.
Away one night, and he's now spinning himself around in circles on his belly. My clever BOi!

oi sounds like a lovely reunion.

Eva has been under the weather today. Temperature of 38.4 but calpol brought it back down again. She's also been really sleepy and clingy and not at all interested in solids.

Thanks for the advice as always, Aethel, I don't know what I'd do without you Grin

We all got bikes today so are planning a little bike ride tomorrow I hope my fanjo survives the silly piddly little saddle Grin

Ugh, I feel sick my cat has worms >_< & DS was stroking her earlier today. I do always wash his hands after he touches the cats but she snuck in through a window earlier while I was in the next room & when I came back in he was attacking stroking her. No doubt he had his hands in his mouth at some point (he always does) does anyone know how infectious worms are? Is there anything I can do? Google's just made me feel worse :(
