Urg! DS doesn't seem to want to go back down after his night feed at the moment. 4 night in a row hes gone down at 7ish not heard a thing till around 2 or 3 at which point he seems to think he's done with sleeping. So he's ended up in our bed again for a few nights just so i can get a few extra hours. Have to be careful now though as soon as he realises DP is there he wants to play again!

Figgygal · 28/06/2012 07:45

He slept until 6 woohoo he then fell asleep in our bed and is still there.

Amazing how a full nights sleep makes all well with the world even if i do have to go to work!!

Is in order....

Hope you're doing OK air.

Kate I've been getting boob related snifly thoughts, but am steaming ahead with plans for offering bottles to DS every few hours (4oz a time initially) to try and work out what his "demand" is as he BFs so often that I don't want to make him thirsty by only giving 4 hourly.

Oh my God, minimopsy slept through! Properly! For the first time ever. Before she always woke up several times for settling. I got 8 hours in a row. Amazing! Fingers crossed it happens again!!

, DH is , DS is . He had 3 hours overnight. Worst night of sleep since he was a few weeks old...now he's sleeping. DH does all the night stuff, but last night was something else!
LMF, seven sorry you also had rough nights!

BJR, you seem to have an inter-betweeny sleepy baby, no for you miniBJR! let your parents sleep tonight & we'll change that Grin

DSM, hope you have a fun day!

Oi, hope the packing is going well!!

What's everyone up to this weekend?

If we have another I'll BF for the first day or 2 (esp. if we have a hospital birth) but it wouldn't work long term for me.

Eek! Missed lots of posts, thread is moving along quickly!

Tyelperion I love my rice cooker....rice doesn't go wrong now :) DH's nan bought us one when we were in Hong Kong a few years ago! FIL bless him made DS congee, but he wasn't having any of it...oops! Congee and avocado are on the dislike list....I'll try reintroducing them at a later date! DS likes normal cooked rice though!

aethel we'll be offering every few hours too, as that's how frequently he currently feeds during the day

Mopsy you did everything by the book, so if it still didn't work for you then I guess it wasn't meant to be. I feel bad I didn't do all of it, but I put it down to lack of info, I honestly thought it would be straightforward and simple.

My mum breastfeed my brother for 10 days whilst in hospital, but she said all the mums couldn't wait to get out so they could put the babies on the bottle! Mum lasted 10 days, she said she didn't enjoy breastfeeding at all and she felt like a dairy cow and it felt wierd. With me she just had my dads family camped out on the settee and she couldn't get rid of them and didn't really have a hope in hells chance of getting me breastfeed. Apart from me having hayfever me and my brother are perfectly healthy!

Figgy it's so hard to know. It really doesn't help having little Christmas babies though with the visitors! I'm going to be blunt and boot people out when I have another baby!

I think I would only breastfeed until the baby got teeth though not 2+ years etc like some people do. When DS got teeth I felt better as that's when I'd have moved him onto the bottle anyway :) His teeth are bloody sharp!

MissRee I'm the same, I had a good pregnancy and a very good birth so I'm trying to concentrate on that rather than breastfeeding.

Seven yes I totally agree bf seems very time consuming and ff is probably the best thing for the other siblings as you've got more time. Plus it gives you a break as DH can share night time feeds :o

Tyel I'm not sure why I sometimes get a bit down about bf, I actually don't care that my mum didn't bf me and I'm very close to her so I'm pretty sure my DS won't care either!

DSM that sounds like fun! Nice to have a girly day out shopping!

Right, I'm off to attempt some cooking now! I bought the baby led weaning cookbook by gill rampley, its got alot of everyday recipes in (which I just don't have), plus lots of ideas for lunch and baking! I'm going to attempt the savoury muffins as they can be frozen, so I thought they'd be perfect for days out for DS.

I'm not a natural cook, I can do dinners following a recipe, but I'm not much use at inventing things. I'm certainly no baker either, but I've made a couple of cakes from the green & blacks chocolate recipes book which I got for christmas and I'm gaining confidence that I may be able to bake :)

How annoying. DP has taken the car to work this morning (he had been getting picked up) so I can't go anywhere! The buggy is in the boot so I can't even go for a walk Sad I wanted to go to bluewater for posh coffee too

How about "Dec 2011: Bring out your coffee mug. I'll go start the pump."
(in honour of mr Bill Hicks and our continued needs for caffeine)?

In other news, it is Too Hot And Sticky. Excuse me while I dunk my head in a bucket of water and turn the fan onto maximum.

MissRee I've made that mistake several times and left the buggy in DP's car after going out at the weekend and then he's goes off to work without realising on the Monday. I did it so many times he checks on a monday just in case!

I have a sweaty, grumpy, nap phobic baby today!

Does anyone know anything about Lip Tie? Freya's upper frenulum attaches to the tip of the gum (right where the teeth would grow through) and is quite thick. Can they snip this in the same way as they do Tongue tie or is it more involved???

Report
LittleMissFlustered · 28/06/2012 17:50

I have a membrane like that. Is it not normal?

MissRee · 28/06/2012 17:51

I have one too but it's higher up the gum - hers is literally attached to where the teeth come through, right at the base of the gum. I'll try and get a pic later.

Opinion seems divided on upper lip tie: some say it affects oral hygeine. Others say it makes no difference...if you are worried them maybe ask your GP for advice from an oral surgeon (they are MacilloFacial doctors who are all dual qualified in Dentistry). Should be. Simple referral and then you can get expert advice. Once babies are older than 4 months or so, any procedures would usually be under a general anesthetic to stop them wriggling and prevent distress, so not something to do unless there's good reason.

dS is once again cluster feeding. Nervous in case je goes through again and then stops doing so when we put him on bottles

LittleMissFlustered · 28/06/2012 20:12

Octoboy is clusterboobing too. Has been on and off for three hours. He's just dropping now, so bedtime!

I got stocked and sorted for weaning today. All systems ready for go:)

One of the problems of warm weather is that the fewer clothes LO wears, the less there is to keep the poo in. We had a giant poonami today: up the back of the nappy, over the top of his shorts, and in a big wave all over the lounge rug Sad

The eating gumming at food continued today.
Hits: Soreen, Banana, Toast, Apple and (ahem) lemon and lime calippo
Misses: Scrambled Egg
He also made a lunge for DD's mini milk, but she was having none of that!

I have acquired a sore throat. Not amused. Dosed up on ibu and am off to sleep, as the temperature just dipped a little:)

Thanks Aethel, is it worth asking at her consultant appointment for the Tongue tie snip or would that be a separate referral do you think? Obviously she will be under a general for the TT so it would make sense to do them at the same time?
