i think having a bug where i had no sense of taste for twoweeks and couldn't be bothered eating helped tbh!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/06/2012 17:44

Pomme, am also leaving M in the same nappy for roughly the same period. She's started pooing only in the mornings/early afternoon, which is a massive change from her early days when it was every nappy. It usually doesn't leak - that happens when she gets up and then does an enormo poo after her first feed.

Am dithering with weight loss - the Eat More To Weigh Less diet wasn't working fast enough. Blush I lost 2 lbs when I started it and then stuck, for the past 2 weeks. I finished this last night and was really excited by the idea of a diet where you can eat as much meat, fish, eggs, non-starchy veg, berries, nuts, seeds, yoghurt etc as you like. It's low-carb but unrestricted quantities of other foods, so it shouldn't affect bf. I'm going to start it after I go shopping. DH is playing 5 a side tonight and the Olympic torch is passing through the street he's in just as he finishes, so he's bound to be home late, so no shopping tonight.

M is asleep in her swing seat. I ought to do something housework-y, but I tried mowing the lawn earlier and nearly killed myself. Don't try mowing a v jungly lawn featuring giant triffids with stems as big as a ten pence piece using a Flymo hover mower with a 13lb baby in a sling on your front. It doesn't make your neck or back feel very good. I put M in her pram, walked her to sleep and then mowed some more, but I've still only done about a third of it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one too!

I still have half a stone to go now but it is not budging - and occasionally I have days where I don't eat 5000 kcal's as well! Unfair :)

Biscuitsandtea · 13/06/2012 20:04

As of last night I've stopped changing nappies overnight unless it's a poo.

I'm a stone heavier than when I got pg (which at that point was about 2 stone overweight) and half a stone heavier than after I had E Sad. Thus I am currently probably 3 stone overweight Sad. And yet completely incapable of showing any self restraint on the eating front. Biscuits and chocolate a go-go here Sad. I just find it impossible with looking after two of them to not snack and grab a chocolate bar on my way past. Especially if ds1 is testing me - I want the sugar hit. I know I should just not have the stuff in the house. But then you see I wouldn't be able to eat it HmmConfused

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/06/2012 20:22

I can only cope with healthy eating if there is plenty of 'fast' food like yoghurts or nuts or something to grab if I'm starving. I've been eating a lot of toast. Today I practically had a tantrum because as we were away all weekend, food supplies are a bit low. I didn't have time to check the contents of fridge, freezer and cupboards and come up with a healthy balanced meal. I tried to make DH stop for chips Blush and he wouldn't, so when he got home I made him cook. I'm the same weight as I was immediately after DD1 was born, which is a stone and a half overweight, and 2 stone over my ideal weight. Sad

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 13/06/2012 21:58

i reckon I'd be a lot better if i had to walk to the shop and get snacks or even wine and beer. DH eats loads after meals though so there are always crisps, biscuits and chocolate about even if i don't buy my own. which i do quite a lot

I'd got down to being only just overweight about a year after DS1 was born, but failed to eat better once the weight stopped coming off. i got quite a shock when colleague and i were messing about on the industrial scales at work and i discovered I'd put on nearly a stone. Blush he was laughing so much when he saw my Shock face.

DreamingOfPeace · 13/06/2012 23:03

I'm with pomme, why is my last half stone not coming off when occasionally I don't eat 5000 kcal??! I still look really pg though, waaay more than half a stone, or less, it was down to,4lb over at one point, but my split muscles means I have a pg belly not a podgy one :( . I mean, it is podgy, but i don't look post baby fat, I look pg. Gutted. Not surprised I got asked when number 4's due really. But i get no chance to exercise it as instructed :(

Both babies still screaming. Won't sleep. I've hit the can't cope point so dh holding the fort. I'm getting into bed. Totally stressed, as i really, really am hitting the wall. I can only get through so many weeks on adrenaline alone :( . Will I never have a better night?! Everyone on here is having some good ones now!! I might have had if i just had S I suppose...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 13/06/2012 23:43

Dream it depends on your definition of a good night. I've never had DD wake less than every two hours during my night shift, which sucks. However a "good" night for me would be if she goes straight back to sleep after feeding and winding, which means the awake bit only lasts about 30 mins and I get 90 mins sleep before the next wake. A "bad" night is no sleep between feeds. Our worst night was when she cried all night, but that's only happened once, right at the end of the heatwave. So my bad nights aren't nearly as bad as the colic you've had to deal with (still No Brooking for more sleep to come your way soon!) but my good nights are nowhere near as good as a good night by E or M or D for example!

Yay for Ben having some happy awake time earlier! Hopefully this will soon be the norm. Sending lots and lots of hugs your way though Dream to try to get you through this last really tough bit. You're such a superwoman I know you'll get through this. Soon the colic will go and you'll be able to really enjoy your gorgeous boys properly!

Biscuits all of your posts today have made me laugh! I love the comment about two sets of twins not being legal! Grin

I'm still in denial about my huge weight issue. I've been avoiding scales like the plague! I think all the baby weight has gone, but I'm definitely bigger than I was pre-pg, mostly because of the extra fat I piled on whilst gorging myself on chocolate because I was pg and had an excuse! Considering I was about 1 1/2 stone overweight pre-pg, I dread to think where I am now! I've instituted a ban on buying chocolate though (just buying it, not eating it, ahem Blush) and I have to start doing regular pilates after my GP sign off anyway, to help my hips get back to normal. So fingers crossed I can just cut out the junk, do a bit more exercise, and wait for the magical bfing diet to kick in Hmm

scarletfingernail · 14/06/2012 08:08

Another one here struggling to shift a lot of excess weight. Somehow I am half a stone lighter and a dress size smaller than before I got my BFP Shock But it's a drop in the ocean I'm afraid. I've got a good 2 1/2 - 3 stone to shift still. The loss so far isn't due to being sensible, it's because I ate healthier while pregnant so I probably lost it then rather than since. I've just inhaled 3 chocolate digestives for my breakfast Blush

Dream I almost cried for you when I read your post about little Ben. I can just imagine the happiness you felt at seeing him happy. I hope you've had a better night?

DD and I had our 6 week postnatal check with the GP yesterday, she was gummy grinning and cooing at him. So funny, I remember DS doing the same thing with the same doctor at his 6 week check. The GP has a very cartoonish face and moustache Grin

Hope your weekend trip goes well for you Biscuits

scarletfingernail · 14/06/2012 08:23

Oh and after completely ignoring all the previous sling chat as I never fancied having one I spontaneously bought one the other day. DD just won't be put down and it's hard getting on with stuff for DS as I daren't leave him alone with her. Carrying her and his full potty up the stairs endless times every day is becoming a challenge. DD is very long, I can only seen to carry her in one awkward postion while one handed.

Anyway, I went for the Ergo. I vaguely recall that one being praised? I bought the newborn insert and waist extender Blush and I've tried it without her in it, but haven't dared try to get it on with her in as DH hasn't really been here to help so will probably have to wait until the weekend for that.

Is it you Dream who has the Ergo?

PetWoman · 14/06/2012 08:23

Dream so glad to hear about Ben smiling and cooing. It won't be long now before your boys are smiling and burbling away to you all day!

DS is also in size 3 nappies as I thought size 2 seemed a bit tight, but then again, size 3 are a bit loose. But he poos so rarely it doesn't really matter. And I've not been changing him at night for a while - his skin seems ok so I reckon it's not a problem.

I've miraculously lost a few pounds recently but am still nearly a stone over my pre-baby weight. Must do some exercise and stop eating biscuits if I want to fit into all my clothes again. Can't afford a new wardrobe!

Pomme good work on the potty training, and I think a cottage sounds much wiser for the wedding.

Biscuits good luck with the journey tomorrow!

PetWoman · 14/06/2012 08:34

Oh, and Scarlet I recently met a couple of mums wearing the Ergo - is that the one you can wear on your back, too, when they're bigger? So I was wondering about getting one when DS is old enough not to need the newborn insert. I'm using a Babybjorn at the mo which is fine but I know there was some criticism of the position it puts the baby in. So anyway, please let me know how you get on with it!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/06/2012 08:37

Where is everybody? Confused

M just choked on my hair. Must start tying it back so she can't eat it.

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/06/2012 08:38

Oops. Blush Clearly refreshing the page didn't work. As you were...

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 14/06/2012 08:39

Scarlet - you must tell me how you get on with your ergo and let me try it out - I've been stalking them on eBay but can't justify one quite yet. But I would like one instead of my baby bjorn. Was going to wait until E could hold his head up though to save me needing the insert thing (now we're probably within a month or do of that).

jaggythistle · 14/06/2012 08:51

Ergo is quite expensive eh! apparently the Patapum toddler carriers are a good cheaper alternative when the dc are bigger.

we are getting on pretty well with my cheap stretchy wraps, R pretty much falls asleep in it straight away and i have managed DS1's nappy changes with him in it etc! was also good to tie it on before i went a trip to the shops so i didn't have to wrestle my rubbish pram and the two boys.

can't decide between a ring sling or a soft structured carrier like the Ergo for when he grows out of the wrap.

first jabs for R today, he must know as he took ages to settle last night and wouldn't really go in his crib much. no great nights here either, the most i get is 2 or 3 hours at best.

it will get better...

Biscuitsandtea · 14/06/2012 08:55

Also v glad to hear about smiley babies Scarlet and Dream and the accidental weightless Smile. Wish I could be a bit careless perhaps and accidentally mislay a bit here too.... I suspect I need to be a bit more forgetful about where I keep the chocolate to do this though Sad or even better, forgetful about where they keep it in the supermarket.

Right that's it. I'm going to have to smarten up my eating ideas and sort this out. Having two slices of toast and honey for breakfast - that's not toooooooooo terrible is it? It's certainly an improvement on two slices of toast and a double decker?

Dream I also have a pg tummy still due to split muscles - oddly enough I manage to be plenty forgetful about doing my exercises for that! BlushHmm

fishcakefoxtrot · 14/06/2012 09:17

scarlet I have an ergo [sme] it's great. We got it when dd1 was 1 and I used it for ages with her. I got the newborn insert for dd2 and it has made life much easier. Dd2 does not like to be put down at all- like dream I could tell you about each time dd2 has been happy in her bouncer/ lying awake alone because it is so rare. So the ergo has made things a lot better. also, it's fab for toddler group or the park because I have both hands free to chase dd1. I found my stretchy wrap was a bit too warm.

biscuits be careful of eBay- I have heard there are quite a lot of fakes about and they are not safe. Try the natural mamas for a second one or something similar.

At least half a stone to shift here. Terrible food poisoning shortly after we moved got rid of some of it but really I need to do some exercise. too have had a go at the shred yet? I am too scared of how unfit I am to even try Confused

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/06/2012 09:23

Dream, so pleased B was smiling and happy! Is S the same at times? If memory serves B is the colickier one. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't your boys coming up to the magic 10 weeks 5 days point?

By the way, are any of your babies' eyes or hair changing colour? M started off with very dark slatey eyes, but they developed a paler ring around the pupil and I think they are still lightening. They're blue-grey now. Likewise, she was born with dark hair but now the top of her head has v fine blonde fuzz and she has brown longer hair at the back. Also blonde eyebrows and brown lashes. And her ears are still fuzzy. Grin I think she might be going to be blonde, probably with it darkening to brown when she hits puberty. I was wondering when babies' eyes settle into their permanent colour - any idea?

Scarlet, I want an Ergo too! Haven't tried one on, but they look great. I have one in my Amazon wish list. Grin at DD laughing at the GP! Hope your check was all ok.

Fishcake, I'm too scared to Shred! I got the DVD back from Mum a few weeks ago and since then have been ignoring it. I only have a slight separation - I won't make it worse, will I? I was also a bit worried about my pelvic floor, but I managed to play on my little siblings' trampoline at the weekend with no accidents so hopefully that'll be ok now.

OP posts:
ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/06/2012 09:46

Too I'm glad you described the ring around M's pupils, DD is the same and when I mentioned it to my NCT group they all thought I was crazy! DD's eyes started out bright blue, then within a week they'd darkened to a really deep navy blue. Now I believe they're transitioning to brown, but the brown is spreading outwards from her pupils in a ring. So her eyes are still dark blue at the outer edge, but brown in the middle.

I haven't noticed any change in hair colour yet. DD doesn't have much hair though so its hard to tell! No idea when all of these changes will finish!

Sooooo Envy of anyone with accidental weightloss! Somehow I can't remember which day of the week it is, but I always remember how much chocolate is in the house and exactly where it is!

DH's cousin's firstborn arrived 4 weeks after A, and he's just been confirmed as colicky by the doc. Sad Unlike our resident superhero though they have no other kids. Plus they're temporarily living with the wife's parents (while they have an extension built). So fingers crossed they'll get through the next few weeks just fine. No Brooking hard for the Dreamy twins to come out of the colicky phase a couple of weeks early, especially B.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/06/2012 09:47

How do you know how far apart your split stomach muscles are? I still have the line on my stomach, is that linked?

PetWoman · 14/06/2012 10:11

I think I read that eyes can change colour up to six months? DS was born with dark hair and is now developing a light brown fuzz on top - am slightly sad as I'd hoped he would have dark hair like his dad - it's a lovely combo with blue eyes!

My pelvic floor seems ok so I haven't got that excuse for not exercising, but (TMI alert) I now seem to to pass wind loudly when I sneeze. Blush Blush Blush Any suggestions about how to deal with this before I go back to work? I blame the forceps...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/06/2012 10:20

D'oh! I meant to say in my last post that I'm No Brooking for Jaggy's DS2's jabs to go smoothly today. Pain free for baby and stress free for mummy!

Pet if you find a remedy for the frequent passing of wind please let me know! It's getting increasingly embarrassing... Blush

JenFraggle · 14/06/2012 10:46

After 2 weeks of not being sick, DD is puking like nobodies business. She was sick all over herself, all over me, all over the blanket so I take her up and change her. Bring her back down, 10 mins later she pukes again. It's everywhere!
