Grin Hawthers

pommedechocolat · 12/06/2012 07:45

Morning all, I was up from one thirty to three with the dds then had a panic attack at three so didn't get to sleep until four ish. Dd2 up at six.

Bet dh comes home and tells me he couldn't sleep in the hotel last night.

Men are rubbish at this little baby thing!

When will she sleep?!

Going to try feeding every three hours today.

Coffee and matchsticks all round by the sounds of it!

PetWoman · 12/06/2012 08:01

Yy to watching DH snore and then wake up to say he's hardly slept! Grrr...

Scream we've not bought expensive Olympic tickets, except for the hockey (think they were £65 each, but DH really wanted one event inside the Olympic park). I did nearly spend £1,500 last week, when they released a tiny number of new tickets, on two top price tickets to the penultimate athletics session, with all the relays, but DH pointed out that we could have a week's holiday in the sun for that amount of money, rather than an unforgettable two hours in a stadium in London! Grin

As Biscuits said, the wetsuit is just to ensure they're not cold in the pool. After all, unless I'm swimming quite hard I get cold, and they're only tiny. I don't want to spend money on lessons only to have DS miserable (though he may still hate it, I guess - we shall see).

:( for mummies of 2 who feel guilty. If we ever have DC2, I can't work out if any age gap is ideal now! At least you've provided your DCs with someone to play with once they're older - I'm sure that will be worth it in the long run.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/06/2012 08:42

Hello all!

I am procrastinating. We have a mannie coming to look at the loft to see if we can get loft insulation sometime between 10 and 12, so instead of going back to sleep when M did at 7.15, I had to get up and shower. I ought to be tidying up because the house is a tip but instead I find myself here. M is starting to wriggle and grunt, though, so I might not be here long.

Brooking for all mummies of toddlers! I hope your older DCs behave angelically today.

I wish the sick would stop. M's just thrown up in her basket again. Hawthers, any sign of the sickiness stopping?

it's not started well. all cuddles when he woke up, then tears because i wouldn't let him have chocolate animal biscuits for breakfast.

i was waiting him out, but DH decided to help by pouring a wee bowl of cereal then telling him he could have the biscuits after. I've been trying to avoid the whole eat X to get Y thing as i think DS1 has been getting worse for being fussy. so now he's had a tiny bowl of cereal, the feckin biscuits and some organix carrot sticks cos i lost the will to argue when DS2 woke up for a feed too.

i did get him to eat some actual home cooked food yesterday, he used to love lentil curry and we have portions in the freezer from before the fussy phase/cereal obsession.

jaggythistle · 12/06/2012 08:54

not to depress you but i reckon with DS1 the sick didn't really stop completely till after he was good at sitting up. :(

I'm just happy it's only milky sick...

pommedechocolat · 12/06/2012 09:00

jaggy - dd1 got really fussy post dd2 being born to the point of losing weight. All she wanted was cake. I gave her all the cake she could manage for a week or so and now she's not so bothered by it :) although she is now obsessed by ice cream

too - dd1 was very sicky and got better around 8/9 months i reckon.

musicalmrs · 12/06/2012 09:29

Morning!

Sorry to hear about the tricky toddlers :( I find one DC hard work enough, can't imagine it with two!

Jaggy, I'm with Biscuits - I'd definitely go with The Look!

Panic attack Pomme ? :(

Fishcake, hurrah for the piano! :) It'll be lovely for both you and the DDs :) I've been playing lots of nursery rhymes to DD - no idea whether she enjoys them or not yet, but I do Grin.

Biscuits, thanks for reminding me to book up some swimming lessons with DD! (for DH though - think it'll be good for the two of them!). Are swimsuits recommended nowadays then..?

Sorry to not namecheck everyone - I keep up to date mainly at night, then forget everything by the time I get to the laptop...

About 6 hours sleep last night so I'm feeling good! However, that was with giving up with the moses basket at midnight and co-sleeping. At least we both got a few hours' sleep though before a busy day today. I'll persevere with the basket tonight, and see what happens.

Off to a breastfeeding support group this am, then off to get DD weighed this afternoon! Wish it wasn't so miserable and chilly though. Brr..

Wants3 · 12/06/2012 11:16

Morning! Most of the water has gone from around the house but there is the faint smell of stagnant/ drains in the house!
This is my first day where I will be on my own for most of the day!

jaggythistle · 12/06/2012 19:28

today has been an ok day!

apart from the breakfast biscuit tantrum, DS1 has been a wee gem. ate his lunch no bother, down for a nap ok and not too cheeky apart from some 'throwing stuff' incidents. he has new pjs from MIL for bedtime so hoping that will mean less messing!

DS2 has been quite chilled out too, so i don't feel quite so snowed under. got some washing done and even the dishwasher emptied before tea. also did an online shop and ordered a wee father's day surprise for my Dad. yay!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/06/2012 21:54

Aaargh, I just wrote a really long post and MN ate it!

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/06/2012 21:55

Jaggy, yay for a better day.

Um, I must have said a lot more than that. What was it?

OP posts:
DreamingOfPeace · 12/06/2012 21:55

Shattered so I'll br brief.

jaggy, glad ds2 bum healed, shame ds1 playing up but I think its par for the course. We had to take the tray off dds highchair and make it into a toddler chair for total refusal I just didn't have the energy to battle. Came out of the blue a few weeks ago, plus bedtime getting difficult again

Split too thin. End of. I'm constantly feeling guilty but the time demands with two newborns, especially two high maintenance, colicky, not sleeping newborns are huge. And my energy levels are low, I'm losing patience too quickly etc etc

I'm battling the aftermath of the first immunisations. Got to dash

Hi everyone. Snotty, coughing baby here (he's had this cold for 10 days now - hoping it'll go soon) but otherwise all fine.

Brew for all the stressed, tired mums. No brooking for better days (and nights) for all.

Dream have the twins recovered from the jabs?

Biscuits where are you?! Hope all's well...

scarletfingernail · 13/06/2012 09:40

Will be back later, but just had to quickly come on to tell Dream I've just seen a monster pushchair even bigger than yours! A 4 seater. The woman had 2 sets of twins! Oldest were 3/4 and little ones 1ish.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/06/2012 10:49

Two sets of twins?

Maybe Biscuits is still fast asleep? Grin

Dream, you are SuperMum! Brooking for a sleep breakthrough for you and Scream.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 13/06/2012 13:48

Not asleep here - just supervising DS2 while he mows the grass and trims the hedges Grin.

Or maybe not....

TWO sets of twins! Shock Is that even legal? I don't reckon I could even shift a buggy with four kids in it Hmm Was it motorised by any chance?

All ok here, just poodling along. DS2 has been doing some good sleeping the last two nights - just one feed between going to bed and 6:30-7 ish - I'm very pleased with this development. No doubt we will totally bugger this all up by doing a stupidly ill-advised long journey on Friday night. Hey ho.....

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

DreamingOfPeace · 13/06/2012 14:14

Yawn

Up since 4 here. scream, its exhausting isn't it? I can't nap in the day really, only ever managed it about 5 times in my life so i know what you mean. I'm practically entering a state of altered reality now I think. I hallucinate figures crossing doorways, babies crying- freak myself out! Ben is still often doing the really short sleep cycle- 40 min, sometimes 90 min. occasionally 2 hours. It's shit. I got SI desperate I asked the hv , waste of time, she told me its normal, no helpful suggestions... He was zonked by the jabs last night but noisy and restless with it but Seb was distraught. I've been up since 4 now, bar a quick doze with the two of them just before DD woke up.

But, news of the day, Ben has been awake and happy today!!!! For the first time, he sat in his bouncer for 20 min and didn't cry and cooed and smiled. Oh, it was so lovely I can't tell you. It makes me realize how much all the colic/ crying gets to me. I almost cried with happiness that he was happy. Hmm . Seb has been much better today too, but he's been doing some awake and calm time anyway.

Wow scarlet, 2 sets of twins!! Apparently as mine are fraternal twins I could have a 1 in 9 or 1 in 16 chance of having twins again Shock depends where you read it... Apparently there's a thread on here with a mum with a 6 yr old, 2 sets of b/b twins and pg with another set of twins?! The twins thread ladies have been talking about it!!!!!

musical, how are the nipples and feeding going?

fishcake, a piano will be fab. I'm useless musically, v Envy of those with talent.

Nappies- my friend told me the bigger the better as more absorbent, so little ben is in a size 2, and chunkster Seb in a size 3!! I can't stand it if the elastic digs in in their legs too so move up ASAP. Last night I was so exhausted I didn't change nappies Blush . Ben's leaked, Seb's didn't. Might try and get B

DreamingOfPeace · 13/06/2012 14:16

in a size 3 tonight- he's worn them in the day before from the change bag with no problem, they just look big on him!

Fab sleeping by E biscuits! Where's the ill advised long journey to? I hate knowing I'm shafting my own sleep, I'm a pain, so boring as i avoid it as much as possible!!

pommedechocolat · 13/06/2012 14:36

I'm another can't nap in the day person - think I've napped once with each dd's baby phase.

Yay for happy ben dream - they say colic gets better 12-14 weeks don't they? If so the end is in sight :)

A has been in size 3 for a while and it's also been a while that I don't change her from 6.30pm - 6.30am. She hasn't poohed in the night for ages so it's just wee... Possible neglectful mummy thing?

We're now potty training at home all the time. I use pull ups for groups and outings though as cannot contemplate getting dd1 to the loo whilst holding dd2.

Good work biscuits - I too hate the disruptful sleep thing especially as it normally involves seeing the PILS who frustrate me anyway. Next trip for us is BILS wedding in August. We're already int rouble because we're not doing as we're supposed to and staying in the family room at the hotel. After my friends' wedding I decided against it and booked a cottage for less money about two streets away. Seems to have annoyed them though good.

Biscuitsandtea · 13/06/2012 14:59

Off to Kent Dream - have my head in the sand about going after tea, getting ds1 to sleep, having sufficient breaks for ds1 from the carseat etc. la la la la.... Hmm

Wants3 · 13/06/2012 16:07

I have been stuck on the sofa in a feeding cycle since about 12.30 with just a couple of nappy changes and a 10 minute sit in his bouncy chair!
I popped along to my weight management group this morning to get weighed and I have lost again :) if D keeps feeding like this I will be a supermodel in no time!
My mum should be here to meet D for the first time any minute now:)

jaggythistle · 13/06/2012 16:54

I got weighed at post natal check and apparently R had hoovered all my pg weight off by 7 weeks Shock

I'm still 1/2 to 1 stone at least overweight cos i put lots on while grumpy and ttc but can fit into my biggest 'normal' jeans.

Just heard my work friend's baby has been born and I had a wee greet to myself. Sniff. Soppy me! He's her first and I'm awfy excited for her. :) :)
