Scarlet - I presume it's not just something like the batteries being gone in the repeller thing?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 15/05/2012 21:30

Have just Googled that, Pomme - great minds! Yes, although small amounts of progesterone (or something) can pass into the breastmilk, so it is suggested that you take the pill right after one feed and try to leave a gap before feeding again.

has not just dug out her maternity leave policy to see if it says anything about two pregnancies back to back. It doesn't because most people are not this stupid

Can I just say that in my entire obstetric history, I have never not got pregnant after unprotected sex? Am going to have to bite the bullet and go to Boots first thing tomorrow and 'fess up to the pharmacist. Apparently you have to have an interview with the pharmacist so they can be sure it's safe for you to take.

Too I think if you're hoping for another DC at some point and don't feel it would be the end of the world, just wait and see. You'll probably have got away with it anyway.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/05/2012 21:43

Scarlet I've wondered the same thing too (about me, not you HmmConfusedGrin). I think I'm still too pleased to not be having to SWI Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 15/05/2012 21:44

In other news, M is still asleep! I thought she was waking up earlier but no. Am going to take the pram into the bedroom and try to get some sleep.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/05/2012 21:46

Go M!! Grin

make the most of the peace and quiet before there's another newborn in the house... Wink

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 15/05/2012 21:53

Grin at Biscuits

I know I want another baby but just not right now. I think I'll get the MAP just for some peace of mind, rather than waiting 2 weeks min to do a pregnancy test, and then doing another one a week after that just in case, because as we all know, the pee sticks lie. Now I really am going to go to bed and stop MNing and imagining the little swimmers racing around inside me

Grin at Too's DH cheering strategy! If I tried that my DH probably wouldn't even know what I was doing! Given the SPD issues with separating my knees, followed by a cs, it's been a loooooooooooooong time in the Scream household! Very Envy of your afternoon! I second the wait-and-see strategy by the way, it's unlikely to have happened and even if it did it wouldn't be a bad thing! Grin

How did bathtime go tonight Dream?

Yay for Scarlet's Mum! Is your DS at home or nursery tomorrow? How are you feeling post-ABs by the way?

No Brooking for Biscuits' DS1 to cheer up, and DS2 to heal asap!

Yay for little F's mammoth sleep Hawthers! Fingers crossed for a repeat performance tonight!

Pet please remind me, how many weeks old is your DS? I'm worried about trying to get my DD to self-settle too early. She's so tiny, and I hate it when she fusses by herself in the cot - she looks so little and alone! DH is trying to get me to wait a brief moment before picking her up when she fusses though. :(

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 16/05/2012 12:35

So...M slept from 8pm to 3am! Yay! Then she went back down at 4.15 and slept til 6, and then I let her co-sleep for a bit, waking up and feeding her lying down in a bit of a daze. She spent a long time lying next to me with wide-open eyes waving her little arms around while I dozed. We got up at 9.45 in the end after she was sick on my chest.

Yay for F's sleep, Hawthers!

I haven't attempted self-settling yet - I always feed and cuddle M to sleep. Any advice on what you do/how long you leave her before giving in and picking her up? I am clueless!

Scream, SFF had not happened since I had that spotting scare at about 32 weeks - and I remember being asked if we had done the deed by the MW at the time and saying no, so it was probably more like 31 or even 30 weeks.

Well, I think we're going for wait-and-see. DH was quite keen on the prospect of a new baby, and I have stopped panicking so much because I don't really believe it will happen. The main thing worrying me is having 2 in one school year and the associated expense. And worrying about my body being entirely ruined by 3 pregnancies in less than 3 years. And having a young baby who will be learning to crawl/walk when I am heavily pg.

Have peed on an ov stick. It says I'm not ovulating. Yay! ignores fact that it was not fmu and that I could have ovved yesterday or be about to ov tomorrow

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 16/05/2012 13:00

Too - That's exactly what E did sleep wise! 8-3, then up again at 6 - how funny!

If you were pregnant, they wouldn't be in the same school year would they? The school year splits at 1 September (or am I right in thinking there is a cut off date in August in Scotland? Confused). So they'd be in consecutive years wouldn't they?

DS1 was just starting to cruise around the furniture at 10 mths I think. Whatever way you look at it, 2 under 1 would certainly be a challenge but they would be so close as they grew up. Once you got past that first year or so it would be so cool to have them close together in age!

Anyway, did it all work in terms of cheering your DH up? I'm guessing the potential pg thoughts weren't part of your original plan though Wink

SFF hasn't happened since I got my BFP Blush

jaggythistle · 16/05/2012 13:42

can't remember the last SFF here, but we're talking months... I'm actually not that affectionate at all to DH. i just haven't had the energy and feel a bit bad.

DS2's bum seems a bit better at last. i went back to doc yesterday, we didn't get more cream, just using the one we had more often and metanium in between.

i had written a big post yesterday but lost it when the site went down and was too tired/in the huff to do it again!

is it wrong that i have not really got any idea how often DS2 feeds? my friend asked today and i hadn't a clue. i just feed him as required and don't count, he seems to be happy and getting bigger so i figure it'll all work out fine. i find it more effort to think about it Tbh Blush

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 16/05/2012 13:46

In Scotland the school year splits at 1 March, so Maia will be one of the oldest in her year. Hence a Jan baby would be in the same year as she is. Am pinning my hopes to the negative ov stick!

And yes, it did cheer DH up, at least for a while.

Look at M and E having synchronised sleep!

Ah - how weird that it's a different school year to England! I thought my sister told me something about a date in August but on reflection that might have been about the school year starting on a different date just because the summer holidays start and end earlier in Scotland (is that right?) I just assumed that the new year started after the summer hols.

You could always move to England Wink

So glad DS2's bum is improving Jaggy - and totally normal I think to not be paying so much attention to the feeding etc this time around. I reckon you'd know if you thought he was feeding all the time, or too infrequently so the chances are he's just doing medium type gaps. As you say as long as he's putting on weight there's nothing really to worry about. And if he wasn't gaining weight then you'd be paying more attention. Someone asked me how old DS2 was the other day and I had a total blank! Couldn't remember at all! Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 16/05/2012 13:56

And I've just realised as well, I didn't mean to sound like I was telling you how to suck eggs about the school year! Of course you'd know when it starts, being actually Scottish and all that! Blush

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 16/05/2012 15:32

Jaggy, I don't know how often M feeds during the day either. She feeds pretty often...Confused Have been experimenting with putting bm on M's bum - will let you know how it pans out!

Do you know, I never thought that it was weird that the Scottish school year intake doesn't match the actual school year? Confused But yes, the Scottish school year starts mid-Aug - they get 6 weeks summer holiday over July and the first part of August. When I were a lass [old gimmer emoticon] (or a quean as they would say in my neck of the woods) we used to get 7 or sometimes 8 weeks off in the summer.

F did 8 to 3 as well.... Have they been talking to each other? Fingers crossed for a repeat performance tonight

pommedechocolat · 16/05/2012 15:49

A still feeds ALL the time. I've tried writing down her feeds but it gets a bit depressing to read back - 6am, 7.30am, 8.30am, 10am, 11am etc (you get the picture).

A is grumpy and blocked up. I also went round a small independent nursery/infant and junior school today for dd1 and it was amazing so now I definitely have to go back to work!!

pommedechocolat · 16/05/2012 17:17

When does bf get easier by the way? I feel like a still feeds like a newborn on the day (but she does do longer stretches at night).

scarletfingernail · 16/05/2012 18:54

Nothing much to report here, other than that DD has gained another 2.5 ounces. The HV came to weigh her today and although I was pretty confident she had gained it's such a relief to know. I've no way of getting her to a clinic to be weighed until I'm able to drive again, so the HV has agreed to come round in a fortnight to weigh her again. She's still 7oz off her birth weight but at least it seems to be going up now.

Biscuits same here re SFF and the BFP Blush Grin. Actually the last time was probably when DD was conceived. I had a 10 day post natal check with my GP last week which DH attended with me. He actually snorted when the GP asked what contraception I was planning to use. Bless. I have intentions of getting back into it once the lochia's finished, but the reality is likely that I will be too knackered and put it off even longer.

DreamingOfPeace · 16/05/2012 19:40

Right. Lost 3 big posts so just doing short ones...

too, check out the Kelly mom website. think stats are only 6% of women are ovulating and can get pg in the first 6 months while ebf. Your first cycle is usually anovulatory too, though a small percentage of women can get pg first cycle or without a period. The numbers might be a bit wrong, was a while ago, but you get the idea and that website is really good. So I wouldn't panic. I had to research this when I couldn't get pg while bf after DD,as we started trying when she was about 6 months old. Just do whatever you're comfortable with, and impressed at your cheering up strategy :) :) (not happening here)

DreamingOfPeace · 16/05/2012 19:52

pomme, DT1 is the twin who was twin 1 in utero, he was also delivered first so eldest by one minute. That's Sebastian. Re:feeding. I saw a lactation consultant yesterday who was great. She said there was no problem with my positioning or latch so we talked about my problems with colic and constant feeding/ screaming. She has advised me not to feed more often than 2 hourly, she says more than that is snacking not feeding, can mean

DreamingOfPeace · 16/05/2012 19:56

they get swapped onto the other boob way too quick (with a singleton) so have way too much foremilk as compared to hindmilk which is less calorific and higher in lactose and too much causes more wind and colicky/ crying/ unsettled baby. She also said feed at first feeding cues though, and mine lip smack/ root constantly so bit contradictory unless I'm being thick. I obviously don't have the foremilk problem, and we discussed the gaviscon for Ben etc. She said if they're feeding way too soon, always offer same boob but really should be aiming for longer between feeds- she says mine should be fine doing 3 hours in day at 6 weeks today n Ben still only 8 lb something. So don't feel bad for making gaps longer. It wad interesting anyway

DreamingOfPeace · 16/05/2012 20:05

And she did say allow evening cluster feeding

DreamingOfPeace · 16/05/2012 20:13

biscuits poor Ds2, the pox sounds terrible. I hope he's not suffering too much , he slept ok for one so spotty!

Bathtime- tonight we did toos original suggestion, nearly (DD didn't make it in time to go in with DT2!). I had lost the will with constant feeding again as I couldn't take the screaming this afternoon so buggy to park at 4:30pm for us all, was effective so boys were woken 2.5 hours later, I bathed DT1, he howled for grub after, so DT2 got basically chucked in, swooshed around and chucked out, fed both howlers (dh now doing DD) and just been vommed on by Seb as there's too much milk after that long.
