Dream - just looking at the photos of your gorgeous brood. I notice the twins always seem to be the same way round - Ben on the left and Seb on the right - are they like Ant and Dec and are always that way round Grin

PetWoman · 03/06/2012 08:17

Biscuits are you asleep? I really hope so! Poor little E - can you just take him to bed with you? No brooking that he gets better and you all get more sleep!

PetWoman · 03/06/2012 08:34

Too I don't think I know anything about baby sleep techniques either! What did you find out! Please share... And did you manage to get the house clean? At least it feels good once it's done!

Yes Musical I'm a teacher but am surprised by how little I'm missing work now I'm on mat leave. Grin Blush I don't think Lansinoh made me itch or anything - hope it's not your allergy.

Wants my bleeding lasted at least 6 weeks but turned a delicate shade of primrose yellow after a week or so! This is, apparently, normal.

Jaggy how are you and your family today?

Dream is Ben doing any better?

PetWoman · 03/06/2012 09:08

By the way, my good news is that DS went about 8 hours between feeds last night! He had his last feed at around 7.45pm (but it was a long feed), then I took him in the shower, and put him to bed about 9pm. And he didn't wake until nearly 4am!

My bad news is that he woke with a very dirty nappy. Nice. And he wasn't impressed that I leapt out of bed to change it before feeding him.

jaggythistle · 03/06/2012 10:29

sorry for lack of posting, busy with my latest thing to worry about....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/1486329-suddenly-Im-bruising-really-easily

DS2 still a bit distressed by coughing.

slept sitting up all frickin night aaaaah.

jaggythistle · 03/06/2012 10:39

biscuits i took DS2 and got told the same! his temp is better but still coughing.

DreamingOfPeace · 03/06/2012 14:10

Just to say I'll catch up properly when home. Made it to the wedding.

Sorry to hear about poorly R and E.

Biscuits- in the pic where they're with Isla, Seb is on the left. Ben was left in utero though and they do seem to prefer it that way. Ben is the littler one.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/06/2012 14:50

Gosh, Jaggy, that sounds scary! Make sure you get to a doctor pronto.

Bloody dog! Hoovered whole house except our bedroom which no one will see and nursery, take dog out for a quick run and boom! Muddy pawprints all over living room carpet. Grr. Yes, I know he can't wipe his own paws, but I didn't think it was that wet outside. Oh well. Mum is bringing her two dogs so there is no point in fretting about pawprints - it's going to get a lot worse after two giant retrievers have gallumphed all over it. Excellent reason for not getting the hoover out again. Wink

Dream, hope the wedding is good fun and that twins let you get some sleep. Maybe a glass or two of nuptial champagne would help?

Pet, wow at the sleeping! Great work there!

Can't remember the sleeping stuff. I read a bit about babies forming the habit of waking at the same time every night, so to stop them doing that then you should get up half an hour (I think! Might have been an hour) earlier than that time and go and disturb them slightly so that they half-wake and then settle back into a new sleep cycle. Obviously trial and error re only half-waking them - it would be a bit gutting if they woke right up and demanded food! It also said somewhere that the ideal time for sleep training was between 4.5 and 7 months - apparently there are good and bad times in their development to try it, and that is the best time. That would fit in nicely with moving M into her own room at 6 months-ish - think sleep training may well be needed then. God, even the thought of moving her into her own room makes me Sad. I am pathetic!

Wants, my lochia took about 5 weeks to go, I think. It pretty much stopped coming out on the pad fairly quickly, though - just came out in buckets when I went to the loo. Hmm Didn't know it could go primrose yellow, though, Pet - that would have freaked me out!

If he has a temp but no chest/ear infection could it be a UTI? We were told to watch M for unexplained temps in case of UTIs and get a wee sample if we thought she might have one. Were you warned of that for E? Oh, how did his last kidney appt go?

Biscuitsandtea · 03/06/2012 15:32

Agreed Jaggy the answers on the bruising thread are a bit Shock - sounds like you should get it checked.

Maybe Ben and Seb are the Ant and Dec of the future Dream? Hope the wedding has gone well Smile

Too we were similarly warned about UTIs but when I explained it to the OOD he still thought I should only go to hosp (and therefore get a urine test done) if his temp went above 39, which it hasn't. I think the temp was explained by his cold anyway? Fortunately his temp is back to normal now - he just has residual grumpiness and the cold to get rid of. Hopefully he'll sleep better without the temp tonight.

Too Ds2 has to have a catheter test done for the kidney, which is not going to be a lot of fun Sad. If that doesn't give us an answer we might have to have the radioactive dye through a cannula done, but we'll see how the catheter goes...Confused

Wants3 · 03/06/2012 20:23

Hi, we are just entering the cluster feeding phase of the day so I've got a chance to catch up on the thread.
Thanks for the replies about lochia, I ran out of maternity pads today and am hoping the normal always will do. I don't think they will be a problem for my stitches now.I have been told to wait 3 weeks until having a bubble bath so I have been having boring tea tree soaks!

jaggythistle · 04/06/2012 04:14

quiet on the night shift tonight! all the babies must be sleeping Grin

DS2 did ok, slept in crib for first 2 hours before waking up coughing. then i fell asleep feeding him and woke up 2 hours later and had to feed then change again and also full change of clothes due to sick. hopefully he'll go back in for a bit now...

hawthers · 04/06/2012 06:24

We ad a week if one wake up a night then back to 3 wake ups in sat night and up twice say night which wouldn't have been so bad had I not been kept awake for hours by someone's party. Wa close to going out in my pjs to shout at the culprits but my dignity prevailed. Exhausted again

Biscuitsandtea · 04/06/2012 06:48

Hope you've had some good sleep now Jaggy. It must be awful for poor wee DS2 to have a cough Sad - they sound do helpless Sad.

Hawthers hope your broken couple of night was the exception rather than the rule and normal service resumes tonight.

Ds2 still sounds v v snotty but had a far far better night. He was in bed at 10 to 7 and only woke at 1 and 6 love it!. DH got up to change the nappies as he always does if he's not at work (the 6 o clock effort had soaked through to his sleeping bag and I could smell it from bed Hmm) but other than that DH has had a complete night's sleep.

He did say to me yesterday though 'hope we get a proper night's sleep tonight' ..... A proper night? I can't remember the last night I had of unbroken sleep! Probably when I was about 4 months pregnant Confused

While I've been feeding, I've been watching on the iplayer the documentary about Sir Gary of Barlow doing the jubilee song - found it really interesting. Smile

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Not sure what to do today. Hope it isn't going to chuck it down with rain again all day Confused.

Biscuitsandtea · 04/06/2012 06:52

Disclaimer

I do realise, with the chit chat about a proper night's sleep that there are plenty if us getting less sleep - was just a comment in comparison to Mr-Sleep-Through-A-Train-Going-Through-The-Bedroom-Biscuits Smile

hawthers · 04/06/2012 07:04

And I realise that two wake ups is not bad at all. But think it is a year since I had a full nights sleep [depressed emoticon]

Wants3 · 04/06/2012 09:24

We are planning to have a fairly lazy day here. I will have to do some washing as ds1 was camping since Friday and got a bit wet! I also need to do a nappy/wipes wash.
I was able to Skype my mum this morning, she is so excited about coming over next week:)

JubileeFraggle · 04/06/2012 09:41

Well not much sleep in the fraggle household last night. Started to put dd to bed at 9, finally got her off at 1. She fed and fed and fed so much that i think i lost a couple of cup sizes in each boob! You could see the size difference so clearly. I'm not sure where she was putting it all. She then had the cheek to wake up for more so it isn't as if we were able to sleep from 1 until a sensible time.

Brooking that all the poorly babies get well very soon

jaggythistle · 04/06/2012 11:11

morning, DS2 and i have been for a team visit to the doc. he is fine, chest is clear so just need to wait for him to get better.

i got blood taken for my mysterious bruising, will hear later if urgent, otherwise I've to phone up tomorrow afternoon for results.

my parents are here to help out for a couple of days which is nice.

DS2 is feeding and DS1 eating lunch with his GPs. just need to hope he'll settle for a nap, he was too excited yesterday with them being here.

sleeeeeeepy...

musicalmrs · 04/06/2012 14:38

Jen (lovely new name by the way) - that's exactly what our DD does. I tend to decamp to the bedroom with food, water, books and my phone at 8/9ish, knowing I won't get any sleep for at least a couple of hours! She used to cluster feed but then only wake up once during the 'night' (i.e. once between 11 and 6ish) - though the last couple of days haven't been so good. :(

Jaggy, hope you get the results back soon. Glad DS2's chest is fine!

A lovely quiet day today - DH is ringing bells for the Jubilee, which will also be in celebration of DD's birth (posh!) - so off to wander down town and listen to those in a bit. Then off to introduce DD to her great grandparents over the next couple of days!

Wants, how many reusable nappies do you have? We have 12 I think (though the soakers inside mean each can often be used twice) - did a load of washing this morning. Think we might need a couple more!

Wants3 · 04/06/2012 14:49

D is feeding loads again today! I can get him to go about 2 hours but he is sometimes taking 45 mins to finish so it feels even shorter! He is also fighting sleep but he slept from 9.30 to 4.40 last night so I cannot really complain!

jaggythistle · 04/06/2012 15:39

got results back and it is rubbish news. my platelet count is at 13 when anything over 50 is ok. Shock i have to start taking steroids straight away and see a consultant later this week. :( the ladies in my thread i linked above appear to have been right and i have ITP.

not impressed!

Wants3 · 04/06/2012 16:15

Oh no jaggy I have no idea what ITP is but glad you are getting it sorted!

music I have 12 gnappies and 1 bum genius. I am washing every other day and haven't run out yet!

jaggythistle · 04/06/2012 16:21

i can't even spell it yet, no wonder it just gets called ITP!
