Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jaggythistle · 24/05/2012 19:06

Shock DS1 actually asked for some lasagne when he saw it! he didn't eat loads but was v enthusiastic till he got fed up. he then ate some leftover Easter egg and 3 toddler sized cereal bars. a nice balanced meal then...

DS2 slept through meal time for the first time in weeks, fingers crossed we're coming out of the growth spurt...

i also got both DS's fingernails cut today, so i feel a bit better for small achievements!

scarlet hope the poo wasn't too bad :(

hawthers sounds like a hard day, hope tomorrow is much better!

hawthers · 24/05/2012 20:02

Well tomorrow has to be better than today. DH made it home earlyish and he got wound up by bath time with the antics so I feel less bad I guess that its not just me being an awful mum. I feel like it today though

Also managed DS1's fingernails but stupidly attempted the toenails - bad idea.

No idea what to put DS2 in to sleep in. Gone for short sleeve vest and v light weight grobag. No idea if its the wrong thing or what.

Biscuitsandtea · 24/05/2012 20:09

Hawthers that's exactly what I've done too. I only bought him a light grobag at the weekend too because I happened to see one in TK Maxx..... In the day I've just had him in a short or long romper suit.

No idea if it's right either but he seems ok I think. Ds1 is a whole different matter. He has really struggled with going to bed because it's so light and hot. It's all 'I'm thirsty', 'now I need a wee', 'I'm hot', 'Where are you going now'.....

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 24/05/2012 20:19

Well, I fed M, put her in the sling and geed up DH to help me clean the kitchen. M lasted fifteen minutes before demanding more food. In that time I had emptied the dishwasher and started to refill it. Hmm So much for my grandiose plans for wiping down surfaces, hoovering and possibly mopping the floor.

8 week jabs tomorrow!

Jaggy, am in awe of your achievements! Yay for the lasagne success.

Hawthers, Sad, poor you. Hope tomorrow is better, as Biscuits says.

Want to hear my next year/return to work plan? I'm really excited about it.

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 24/05/2012 20:20

Oooh, I never thought about what to put M in to sleep!

OP posts:
DreamingOfPeace · 24/05/2012 20:32

Hmm. I've probably done wrong then, the boys are in babygros and their bags... I don't have thinner ones.

So a shit day all round for the No Brookers, except hopefully scream at chelsea flower show. What did you wear scream?

scarlet I'd have no idea how to get poo off the carpet :( and not what you want at bedtime. Hope he went to bed without tantrums

musical, how are the nipples? And isabelle?

too, thank goodness for slings! My problem is we get one asleep in a sling on me for example, the other wants boob, then have to turf mine out the sling = dual howling again...

pomme, 2 boobs and a bottle of ebm wedged between your legs for baby number three? Or held with your feet for a baby in a bouncey chair while feeding two?? I'll start with the toddlers and go for high energy but some sleep at least ;-)

Today I can say there has been no pleasure with the boys. I love them both very much, but they are just so demanding. Cry, cry, cry, cry and cry some more. Still not smiling. Constant pooing from DT1 still. We are averaging 24 nappies a day, mostly done by me between our three. reckon dh has done 4 or 5 nappies today, and we had to double up to deal with a morning poo from DD who still won't lie down for her nappy. I think I could deal with either the constant crying in the day or the near total sleep deprivation, but not both... Hardly played with DD today. She's getting a bum deal from me.

DreamingOfPeace · 24/05/2012 20:43

X posts too. Glad you've got a plan. Sounds good, but reckon you'll be knackered with looking after M and all that cycling... And thin as a rake and fit as a fiddle, hurrah! Hope you like the nursery then. You made me briefly think about going back to work and child care so far never left DD with anyone bar my mum or dad. I don't think our nanny lady could cope with all three (she's in her 50's and not that fit I'd say) and because I went off so early I'd be due back when the boys were only 10 months.... I can't even contemplate leaving them yet, any of them!!! (Too bloody tired and hormonal maybe) .

DreamingOfPeace · 24/05/2012 20:45

So is M sleeping in similar to mine then too? DD is in pj's and a bag too. Not that the BBBB's are asleep of course... Hmm

scarletfingernail · 24/05/2012 20:49

Dream thankfully our dining room has a wooden floor. Still not pleasant though. Luckily it was a good solid one. (TMI). Sounds like your day has been very hard, I really don't know what to suggest.

Hawthers sorry to hear you've had a bad day with DS1, I hope tomorrow is better.

I was going to ask what you're all doing about sleepwear for the babies. It's 26 degrees in our house this evening Shock. I've opted for a sleepsuit for DD and that's it. No covers or vest. Not really sure what's right.
DS in in short pj's with a light quilt and a fan blowing.

DH has just got in Angry I managed bath and bed alone for DS in between BFing. Feels like a huge achievement. DH just walked in, I handed DD over to him and said she needs a bath. 10 mins to myself = bliss.

jaggythistle · 24/05/2012 21:10

it's a sad day when making cheese sauce and assembling a lasagne, along with cutting 3 lots of nails is a day of achievement! Grin

DS1 is in vest and a T-shirt and DS2 is in a long sleeved vest for now. can't decide whether to put a light sleepsuit on instead for night time. i have one light sleeping bag, so when he pukes on that I'll put a blanket over him.

TMI ---> look away now if eating dinner!

biscuits was it you i discussed the delights of piles medication with...? i took the advice and got some internal medication. i think I'm doing it wrong though. Blush

DreamingOfPeace · 24/05/2012 21:12

scarlet, sounds like a huge achievement to me. Wow. I'd have huge howling. I will on Monday when its me vs the trio all evening...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 24/05/2012 21:14

Ha, M's not asleep either, Dream! She's currently wearing her usual vest and babygro and wriggling in my lap, alternating between feeding and squalling. No idea what to put her to bed in - don't have a lightweight grobag. Maybe just a light blanket.

OP posts:
MeconiumHappens · 24/05/2012 21:32

Hello brookers!! :)
We're in the postnatal land of one handed typing with baby T glued permenantly to the boob today (and over night) am absolutely knackered!!!!!! He was 2 weeks old yesterday, am putting it doWn to a growth spurt?!?
ZZzzzZzzzz gosh i really hope busy day=sleepy night. Yesterday he slept for hours and was up all night, stupid me didnt use the opportunity to nap.

DreamingOfPeace · 24/05/2012 21:33

X posts jaggy, here's hoping the colds are improving tomorrow and the expensively maintained bum is too. I bought a bum cream from America, imported, because my step sister said it was amazing for healing. £30 for the tube!!! Butt paste. DT1's bottom is fine now though. It was never as bad as your poor ds2's but was nearly bleeding in a couple of places. So lansinoh a bargain in comparison.

The bbbb's have slept for 90 minutrs today, and snatched the odd 5-10 minutes a couple of times too. Overtired little horrors. Oh how I wish I could make them sleep...

pommedechocolat · 24/05/2012 21:54

Dd2 is in just a long sleeved vest and was last night too. No bag. It's 27 in both girl's room. Dd1 more if an issue as I rolled her quilt back and gave her a thin blanket but she still pulls it over her. Have just rolled it back again.

Have been researching online about bf and periods at 12 weeks. It seems to be this happens to women who's babies don't feed very often?!! Is this the universe playing tricks on me?!

Thanks for the mat pad idea too that us going better but still soaking through quick. Dh being really unsympathetic about it. Can't be bothered to fight with him though as so tired. Arse.

Off to bed now to try and sleep. Finding it hard to drop off ridiculously.

Brooking for us all overnight!

PetWoman · 25/05/2012 03:24

Oh dear, sounds like everyone's having a blooming hard time atm. I love the weather but it doesn't seem to agree with children and babies, does it? DS was still pretty good today but defo more fussy than usual, especially this evening. Though I put him to bed after a shower with me, and went back in after about half an hour to find him wide awake, grinning and cooing at me! So sweet. Anyway, he started licking his lips so I fed him into oblivion. He's just wearing a sleepsuit (no blanket or sleep bag) and seems ok, but I'm sweaty and disgusting! By the way, he seems to have survived my suncream error (put it on his legs as I didn't realise he was too young for it) without mishap, and I've managed to keep him in the shade anyway. Phew!

Again I've got so behind I don't think I'll be able to namecheck everyone, but no brooking that tomorrow is a better day (and night) all round.

musicalmrs · 25/05/2012 04:05

Argh- my phone lost my post not once but three times!

Glad to read the discussions about what brooking babies should be wearing for bed. DD is in a short sleeved vest, and I put a light blanket over her when she was asleep. She's still too small for the grobags we've got.

Dream, Isabelle's doing well thanks! Getting the hang of nights (touch wood)- the last two have gone ok, although we haven't mastered getting her into the Moses basket yet. Nipples still suffering a bit, though getting better! Hope you're having a better night with the BBBBs? How's DD's sleeping going?

Nipple wise, things are a lot better though not completely there. DD has a habit of latching on, sucking for a few seconds then disconnecting. Can happen a few times each feed (though sometimes not at all). I think this is part of what's stopping them from healing quicker. Any tips? Is this a habit of gets, to do with my milk or a bit of both? Would hand expressing a bit before a feed help? It does seem to happen more the first time she latches onto a breast, rather than after she's taken a pause half way through a feed...

DH is back to work today - he's splitting his paternity leave up. Actually quite looking forward to a day on our own - the only thing I need to do is scan DD's birth certificate, notify employers, and if possible buy a lightbulb!

For some reason or other my MN thought it wise to reset this to p1 of the thread, so can't reply to everyone (or remember what's going on with everyone!). Hope the sore bums - be they expensively maintained or not - are improving.

Wrote all of the above, attempted a transfer but was foiled by hiccups, came back to feed.. More bleeding after several latches weren't kept on :-( At least tomorrow's mostly quiet. Constant nipple care required methinks..

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 25/05/2012 08:52

Too tired to namecheck, sorry ladies!

Glad to hear various sore bums are healing, yay! no Brooking for Musical's nipples to heal soon as well - I feel your pain!

Glad of the sleepwear talk, it's 28 degrees Shock in or house and I've been fretting about what to put DD in. Night before last she was sweating so we had her in just her nappy, under a light blanket. Last night we were back to a short-sleeved vest under the light blanket. So unsure what the right level is!

Good luck to all those potty training - so brave!

Big hugs to Dream, I hope you have a more enjoyable day with the twins today, and a chance to have fun in the sunshine with DD! You've done so well! Soon things will settle down and easier, I'm sure of it!

Yesterday didn't work out as hoped. We got all the way to the entrance of the Chelsea Flower Show before we were informed that under-5's aren't allowed! Shock Sad Angry I felt particularly stupid when they pointed out this info was actually printed on the ticket itself, in the middle of a really teeny tiny small print paragraph. Grr. Had to get the tickets refunded and felt sooooo guilty for disappointing my Nan Sad

Then late in the eve I suddenly noticed Autumn's right second toe is swollen, bruised and bent looking. It looks very different to her other toes, and appears broken. She was perfectly happy though, and doesn't react when you squeeze the toe. DH and I freaked out anyway (PFB syndrome) and decided to go to A&E (at midnight) because if we waited til morning for the GP we figured he would just send us to A&E for an x-ray anyway. In the end the A&E docs were great, and took us very seriously. They're not sure what has caused the swelling but they don't think the toe is broken (well the junior doc thought maybe, but the senior doc thought no). Either way, there's nothing they would do for a broken toe anyway, other than medication for pain, and she doesn't seem to be in pain. We've been told just to monitor it, so long as it doesn't get bigger or become painful then we should just go back to our GP for a review in 2 weeks. The whole A&E trip only took an hour, which I thought was impressive!

Apologies for the me me me and running off, but we have a hectic day ahead. We're planning to spend the day in the countryside having a yummy pub lunch followed by visiting a couple of English vineyards today. Then we're out for a yummy restaurant dinner tonight during which my Mum will babysit Autumn for the first time . Gotta love sunny birthdays! Grin

Have a great day all!

pommedechocolat · 25/05/2012 09:04

Happy birthday scream!

How scary about A's toe but good to hear she seems fine :)

Biscuitsandtea · 25/05/2012 09:16

Happy birthday Scream Grin Thanks

Hope you have a super fab birthday. I can only dream of a sunny birthday being a November birthday myself. Mind you my DH's bd is in June and I'm sure like him you probably suffered year after year of doing exams or revising on your birthday so glad you're getting some compensation now!

How scary about A's toe. I would have done the same thing with A&E. Hope it calms down soon xx

Also hoping that all various sore bottoms, boobs etc are healing.

Jaggy that most likely was me with the discussion of piles. I need to go to the doctors to get something similar as I'm not seeing any improvement with normal creams but I want to go on a day that ds1 is at nursery (he's been forced to attend too many appts recently which involve inspections of my nether regions) and then I'm always too busy. Must actually make myself make an appt - perhaps on Monday.....

Hope everyone else is well xxxx

hawthers · 25/05/2012 09:48

Apologies to all but we actually all got sleep last night!

F woke at 1 and I slapped in some bonjela and he went right back to.sleep and then went through to 4 quick feed and down til 7 Phew! Much needed sleep was had by all.

Wants3 · 25/05/2012 10:20

Morning all, my milk has come in so D has decided that he needs it constantly! I got him to go for 1 hour and a half between feeds this morning and am hoping he will nap for a bit when heis finished. Luckily he will go 3or4 hours through the night so I do get some sleep.
I need to go and find the other thread as it suddenly came to an end with no link to a new one and I need to keep up with Jen

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 25/05/2012 10:38

God, the immunisations are traumatic! Sad Poor little M. She howled incredibly loudly, and then we had to turn her around and stab her in the other leg as well! Then the HV said we ought to get some Calpol in so we can dose her up if need be, so I staggered off to Tesco and somehow a chocolate croissant fell into my trolley. I'm actually hoping it stays cooler today so that M doesn't have to be too hot as well as potentially feverish and grumpy. Right now she's zonked in her car seat. I am so glad she got to wait an extra 3 weeks for the jabs - having to put her through that at 8 weeks would have been even harder.

Yay for a good night's sleep, Hawthers!

Happy Birthday, Scream! Oh no about the Chelsea Flower Show - meanies! Hope you have a lovely day today. I would also have gone to A&E with the toe thing. Hope it's not broken, but at least it doesn't seem to hurt her.

Biscuits, I thought my piles had healed, only for them to start bleeding again yesterday. Hmm Bloody things, go away!

It is horrible isn't it too? I'm going to warn you about the third lot - three injections :(
