I love freya's jeans! Tights and dresses are far more of a PITA! I will admit to having a Lonsdale tracksuit for her for slobby days Blush

Happy birthday kitty!

Broccoli wasn't such a hit but DS still ate it :)

Lo has a pair of jeans which have elasticated waist i swore he would never wear jeans but these have little puppies on them and are mega cute.

Im pissed off with work apparently our policy is that you have to take your accrued leave before you return to work so i have 16 days they want me to take before i go back. In principle this is great as it means i will get this money unexpectedly and still accrue holiday from june 25th to 31st march which will be plenty as i have agreed fridays off on my return. HOWEVER if id known this more than 6 bloody weeks before going back to work with my childcare sorted id have stayed off to mid July. Also if i have to take a months holiday before i actually go back how am i supposed to do any keep in touch days to help ease me back me in? Id been planning to do at least a couple in june when hes in his settling in days at childminder but obviously i cant be on leave and Kit days at same time. I can appreciate what they are trying to achieve in that they don't want people going back to work with so much leave they never in but It doesn't help me much at this short notice. Even if i could delay my childminder by another week i know work want me back as another team member is going on mat leave today and isn't being covered. Fuck sticks!!

Swiftly marking plaice so that I can find you!

Made it up North, but we have a kitchen roof that's leaking so it's not all giggles here Sad

Haven't caught up since this am but just had to post this first. I've just got in from town & I'm fuming Angry She cancelled the class without contacting us or refunding the money we paid. £7 bus fare wasted + spent money in Costa while I waited for the bus home & I couldn't do anything else with him as it was a miserable day; feel like such a useless mum today. Sat in Costa feeling very lonely & sorry for myself. I can buy a dvd but I wanted a way to meet other mums & babies his age :(

Brew & cake are needed I think :)

In other news nipply teether balls have arrived (thanks oi. I bought 2 for my friends twins too Grin

Right then-

I share your pain on the maternal smoking YBR. Mine took it up again this year, after having quit with me 3-4 years ago, owing to the stress of having the extension built (neighbours were awful about it) which was to combat her stress and panic attacks over me being pregnant Confused. I feel pretty pissed off though, as the whole point of giving up was for future children/grandchildren, and now DS is here she's smoking.

Oh and Kate, don't apologise at all, I'm delighted you're having a lovely time! I really enjoyed mat leave too, and if all of you who were still on it couldn't talk about your day, it'd only be me and Oi having a chat!!

I hope I read later in the thread that your OH has apologised for his comment about life pre LO figgy, that's really out of order. I hope it was just a tired grump and not anything he actually meant.

How's the octopus wrangling going LMF?

I still dress my DS in onesies for 90% of the time AWCH. He gets put into dungarees for smart, like when we're seeing family. Otherwise I can't be arsed with the faff I find onesies make life easier, and he looks cute!

Oh God Oi, DS's ears are a nightmare of wax! I have a special little tool to get it out (other than washing) when it comes out of the canal (obviously am not putting anything down there). As I am disgusting I really enjoy the job Grin and I don't let DP anywhere near it as he managed to impact his own, numptie.

How're you feeling MissRee, are you recovered? Sounds like you had a grim bug.

I've said it before Easily, anyone who complains about being tired to a parent of a sub 6 month old (unless they have an illness) needs beating round the head with a pack of nappies until they can really feel how your head feels.

Thanks for the suggestions Rash and jiggle I?ll try and get a GP appointment and see how we go next week.

AWCH I dress DS in daytime clothes (including some very cute jeans) in daytime and sleepsuits for night. I like to try and distinguish between day and night ?and like having a little doll to dress up?

mopsy I can really recommend Sock ons to save losing the little socks

Sorry to hear so many of you had crap nights. Don?t hate me, but DS slept 7.45-5.20 then went back down from 6-7.30 Shock

HoneyLovesCake · 10/05/2012 13:49

Easily if you don't want to give your LO's clothes away maybe you could have one of these made? Or make one yourself if you're handy. I like the idea of hanging on to the best quality clothes until they grow up & have kids of their own :) Is that ridiculous? I think baby clothes are pretty timeless; I wish I had some of the things I wore growing up for him...my mum dressed me like a boy so they'd have been perfect. Haven't mentioned this plan to DP yet, he knows we're keeping everything for the next baby but might veto hoarding for the grankids Hmm

Oi I completely get where you're coming from; I can't understand it at all when DP frequently goes out while DS is still awake, or pops to the pub for a pint on his way home from work WTF is that about? I don't care personally but doesn't he realise how precious every minute is?

Kitty Morning baby groups are a pita! If you move to Cornwall I'll eat cake with you be your mummy friend :)

Oops...DS has unexpectedly fallen asleep in my arms, suppose I should try to put him down upstairs as he's been so good recently but he looks sooo sweet, just 5 more minutes :)

Hmmm...cake.

Honey that's crappy about the class. I hope she contacts you with a good explanation.

We're meant to be leaving to go swimming in 20 minutes, but DS has fallen asleep. Oh well, he'll be a grumpy sod, but I need to get out.

oi we're using the 5mo thing as a good excuse for chocolate!

Miri mainly wears baby grows, I love leggings with feet too though.

Crap night here, DD1 was up to 11.30, DD2 was up until 10 which is really strange for her. Miri of course slept wonderfully from 8-7.30 but DD2 woke me several times in the night with nightmares. I don't usually do the older ones at night, but DP is ill.

I have a tiredness headache

aethelfleda · 10/05/2012 14:16

oi, it's a dad thing. Because they don't spend so long with baby from the word go, many dads sort of feel that they have a right to go back to the pre-baby life in terms of social life: they work away from the home in the day, and so nipping out for a "quick drink" or a darts practice or a colleagues leaving do or whatever is something they are just "entitled" to do, whereas it's mummy's role to stop at home
And babysit (even if you are back to work part or full time). I noticed this with our Dd1 especially. Doesn't stop it feeling weird though!

GeeandTee · 10/05/2012 14:16

DD generally wears jeans (soft and lined with elasticated waist) or dresses and tights as I use DS's old sleepsuits for her to wear at night and am too vain to let her wear them in the day as they are a bit worse for wear now!

I have a pork and mushroom stroganoff in the slow cooker and the smell is making me hungry. Only just had lunch! Had two slices of cake at a playgroup this mornng too! Although it was so hot in there and running after DS and carrying DD I think I sweated a lb off! Also ebfing a whopping big baby must entitle me to daily cake and biscuits?!

So grey and depressing here still. When is the sun coming back?

Sooo, bus journey was a nightmare. And when we arrive, we are told that Jelly Babies needs to be booked. Which their website DOES NOT SAY. So, Fusion, and Peckham Pulse - fuck you very much.

Got soaked on the way home, and the lift wasn't working so needed to carry the pram up the stairs.

Toast and jam now.

Oh yes, all men do it. DH has too long a commute to see the DC's in both the morning and evening, so he tries mostly to go in a bit later and see them in the morning. However, he plays squash on the way home on a Tues and often goes for a 'quick drink' too. Today he emailed me at 3.40pm to tell me that he's going to an alumni drinks event for where we both used to work. Thanks for the long notice! He also added the classic 'I won't be too late' which generally means he'll stumble in past midnight, drunk. Oh, and he also told me he has to go in early tomorrow which means he won't see them or be around to help me out until Saturday morning now.

Angry The Sing & Sign lady just responded to my email to say that she had emailed, text & left 2 voicemails to offer an alternative class or refund but had heard nothing from me. I'd have a lot more respect for her if she said I'm sorry I screwed up & forgot to contact you; don't bloody lie to me Angry There is no way that I could've missed emails, texts & voicemails. Cow!

A big 'Fuck You!' to all those who have let down the thread ladies today. I'm very pissed off on your behalf!

Better day here, albeit knackering. The kids have some sort of conspiracy plan that ultimately results in me not having a moments peace all day. I tell a fib, I did escape the mad house for 5 minutes so I could go buy a cake.

House stinks of poo - dd has poo'd in her naptime nappy (put on because I know she needed a poo, followed 2 skidders in her big girl pants - please bob, let ds be easier to train!) and ds has treated me to an afternoon poosplosion. All I need now is for dp to come home and let one rip then my day will be complete!

I am also v pigged off on your behalves honey and sorelip! It takes a huge amount of effort to get ready and get out to these things, especially if you're going by public transport (something I haven't done yet).
I haven't got cake, so I think I'll pour myself a 5-month-birthday-martini and get a bowl of haagen daaz (es).
Ali had 2 x 1 1/2hr sleeps today, and is asleep now. (30mins so far). So maybe we'll have an unsettled night again. Who cares, right? It's Friday eve, who needs sleep?! Bring it on! Grin
He's not pooped for 2 days now. Methinks there's a poosplosion waiting...

Oi DP goes out etc before both girls go to bed but TBH I prefer it as I have a routine and it goes smoothly. However, DP is good when he is here, he knows I like routine so try's to abide by and help me with it sometimes

Oooh, we have a mix of baby dressers here!! My MIL thinks I'm lazy because I cba to dress him 'properly', tbh when we go out he's always in a (light) snowsuit cos we walk everywhere & it's proper cold/wet/crap weather atm so I could dress him in a Darth Vader costume & people still wouldn't know.

Honey, for the baby sign lady.
Sorelip for Peckham. Not just the Pulse..all of Peckham (aside from the 2 train stations, need them to get into London).

My DH hasn't had any evenings out since DS was born, he's trying so hard to bond with DS & still gets frustrated/upset that DS is better behaved with me then him. Probably going to stay at a mates on Sat with Ds to give DH a break (and then have my own break all of Sun)!

Rash Hope DP clears up any poop he makes!

MissRee, that's a gorgeous picture!!

Northen, hope the roof is an easy & cheap repair!

Ooop, bedtime, be back soon!
