Did we come up with a new thread title, methinks we'll need a new one afore the weekend?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 16:50

Oi She already shuffles her way across & around the room. Won't be long till she's off and crawling about Shock

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 16:50

Ps hope you don't burst before you get home Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 24/05/2012 18:14

'tis too warm!

I have officially melted to death.

Off to invest in some ice lollies:I

New thread title:

Caution! December 2011 babies may be hazardous to health, bank balances and carrot sticks.

DP has gone out for Magnums!

Going to buy buckets and spades tomorrow and go to the beach on Saturday. Miri has started eating, vigorously attacking strawberry yesterday and peppers today.

I'm feeling loads better, aethel I took your advice and felt lots better, thank you!

I tend to keep long sleeves on babies, means I can use less sunscreen. I use Yaoh's one in Factor 30 for us all, tis pretty good and low on synthetics.

Off to post a pic of Miri in the garden (eating grass and getting muddy toes!)

BeeMyBaby · 24/05/2012 19:39

LMF I like that thread title alot!

Really pleased as had last HV visit today and DD2 has climbed centiles so is now at the 50th (has always been between 25th &50th) so Bfing is going really well and I can continue on the slow BLW route.

I always go for groupon or kgb discounted haircuts but will be taking advantage of the local hairdressers while I'm away for £3 a pop, they actually do a surprisingly good job considering its a dry cut.

hawthers · 24/05/2012 20:04

Thank bob today is over. I vote for wine

LittleMissFlustered · 24/05/2012 20:15

I vote bed!

N'night:)

I vote wine! Tonight's delight: chianti.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 20:43

I voted for Smirnoff ice and had one Grin

YBR · 24/05/2012 21:04

A day of firsts here for babyYBR:
first time wearing a dress; first drink out of a sippy cup; first trip to the leisure centre pool; first roll from back to front.

We were the only people in the Training Pool this afternoon - a necessary and nice cooling off swim.

NorthernChinchilla · 24/05/2012 21:06

Well I went dead European like, and DP met me off the train with DS, and then we wandered over the bridge, into town and sat outside a nice bar on the High Street and had a pint. I was in work clothes with DS on my lap... it must've looked quite odd to people!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/05/2012 21:22

Well, the heat's not too bad if you're stuck in an office for the entire day (because a working lunch, bleurgh, has been sprung on you) and you only get the 8am and 5.30pm bits of the day!

Didn't get a lunch break yesterday, and won't get one tomorrow as at a conference at work- the only break I'll get is to go and express and then go to another bit of the same building to be presented with the findings of a week-long reorganisation brainstorming (bleurgh) thing they're doing with a department....and then back into the bloody conference.

We're off to Bluewater to get a few odds and sods so may see if we can get the pram burkha Grin given the amount of walking DP and I do with DS, so thanks for the tip!

Good luck with the flights figgy, and do bring that mother of yours back safely scatocrat!

Sounds like you're going to have fun with the royalty Kitty Grin

Freya looks as adorable as I expected MissRee. I'll try to get a pic of DS looking sunny, but he's just like his unphotogenic mother not the smiliest, especially when a camera's waved in front of him. And your DS looks so sweet Hawthers- it's so hard to imagine that there was ever any issue over his weight gain, he's gorgeous!
I think a couple of play suits may fall into my shopping basket this weekend...

BJR · 24/05/2012 22:00

So DS has been sleep crawling since I put him down. Put him down at the end of the cot on his back and he doses off. Within a few minutes hes crawled up the cot and is headbutting other end of the cot and wailing all with his eyes closed Hmm. Move him to other end of cot to stop the headbutting, and repeat ...

Sounds like a lovely day of firsts YBR :)

Loving all the summery pictures, I took a few but DS just looked hot and grumpy!

HoneyLovesCake · 24/05/2012 22:12

Well done babyYBR maybe the thread title should say something about all the newly mobile babies? Sure they'll all be crawling soon :)

I vote for BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit & a Brew

I got raised eyebrows from OH when I mentioned buying a backpack baby carrier. Ok, so I do already have a stretchy moby wrap, a wilkinet, 2 gauze woven wraps & a ring sling but it's nice to have options, right? They all do different jobs anyway (apart from the gauze obviously) & we don't have sling meets down here so I can't try before I buy. I sound like I'm making excuses don't I? Sod it, so what if I'm an addict, I'm buying another one! That hazardous to bank balances title is seeming awfully apt all of a sudden...

I've added a pic to my profile of DS all dressed up for the sunny weather...including shades which were a ridiculous but super cute purchase Grin sorry about the terrible photography.

hawthers · 25/05/2012 04:30

The lords have given me a break. 1.30 for some bonjela then 4. And I was in bed for 10 so that is the most I've slept for absolutely ages.

And DH said that I'm to be packed off to the spare room tonight and he'll Di the night shift.

Also made a hair appt for next week but got to take f with me. Could be interesting as going for highlights and a cut hmm hope he'll sleep through it....

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 25/05/2012 06:45

Hawthers Good to see you got some sleep last night.

Sky woke once at 1am to finish of her 9pm bottle and woke about 15mins ago and sounds like she has done another poop!

Debating whether to just wait until she is 6 months old or start gradually again to introduce solids.

Plan for day is:
School run
Hoover
Sort bottles and changing bag
Put Sky's new seat in the car
Load the car with Sky's play gym
Head to a friends for breakfast & cuppa
Leave Sky there and head to work for meeting.
School Run!
Chill

aethelfleda · 25/05/2012 07:28

Morning girls! Sticky night though improved slightly with fan. So glad we bought a superlightweight 1 tog grobag as habe discovered DS really likes wearing it: he was sleeping naked and kept waking himself up by kicking the cot bars!

Lovely day (too hot!) beckons. PTA stuff (groan, but it needs doing and I'm mates with the other PTA girls and don't want to let them down. Will go and bail out if DS gets narky/hot/needs lunch.)
And other than that I think the paddling pool may be calling for the DDs after school...

LittleMissFlustered · 25/05/2012 07:52

Octoboy voted sleep!

8-4!

Today I will mostly be feeling a lot better.

OP posts:
msbuggywinkle · 25/05/2012 08:14

Morning!

Day of errands for me, means we can spend the weekend outside!

for Octoboy!

hawthers sounds brilliant, tis a lovely feeling when you finally get some sleep.

Need to buy myself some Summer clothes. I was holding off in case it was a crap summer like last year!

Kitty5824 · 25/05/2012 08:35

Me, me, me post to follow....

Worst day EVER yesterday....went to SIL's to prep for evening meal, we're having a lovely afternoon with Seb asleep in his pushchair in the shade in the garden and Nephew (9 weeks) asleep on a blanket on the lounge floor so we could see both from the kitchen.

Moved the boys to the playmat where they were very cute and looked like they were holding hands....fast forward 30 mins and I managed TO DROP MY NEPHEW.

Feel like the worst mother/aunt in the word. Queue screaming child with lump on head, screaming child who is being ignored, me crying with guilt and shame, SIL crying with (I would imagine) worry and fury.

Sad

My poor brother got home from a day of hell at work to this scene about 15 mins later. They went off to a&e, were seen and back home within 50 mins and all ok.

They were both lovely to me, but wouldn't you just be bloody furious? What an idiot.

OiMissus · 25/05/2012 08:46

Morning all! Congrats on the firsts YBR. Hurrah for Hawther's DH and a night of rest. Pompoms for Octoboy!
We had our customary 2 wake ups after his late night feed. But that's OK now.
I took him to nursery, changed his nappy, said goodbye. Just had a phone call, "he's fallen over on a toy and marked his face, but he's absolutely fine now and happy playing with the same toy"... I just want to go and get him and take him home please. :( But no, I will mum-up. This is the first of many to come, so I shall remain at work. All will be well.
My friend in France had sent me lots of cute summer clothes - shorts, tshirts, shortie dungarees, ... unfortunately most are 3-6 months and are a bit on the small side, so I'm going to have to go shopping. Most are from Asda or Next, but as they were delivered from France and are second hand, that makes them Vintage French Childrenswear - n'est-ce pas?

OiMissus · 25/05/2012 08:54

oh kitty how awful! Poor you. I can't imagine how you must have felt. Accidents happen. They know accidents happen and it could happen to anyone. Luckily for everyone your nephew is fine. You poor thing. You have to forgive yourself.
And when he's 21 and handsome, and graduating from uni, and embarking on a fabulous career, you will all laugh about the time when Auntie dropped him on his head (that will be added) when he was 9 weeks old.
You did nothing wrong.
Shit happens.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 25/05/2012 09:45

Kitty These things happen. Try not to let guilt over ride your feelings. sending hugs.

I was almost strung up by the washing line when I was a baby by my aunt - I'm alright Smile

hawthers · 25/05/2012 10:07

Oh kitty poor you and your nephew. Accusers happen and as he's been checked by a and e I'm sure he'll be fine. Fwiw my mum dropped my brother down the stairs and he is just fine!
