Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AnAirOfHope · 24/05/2012 03:39

I just cant get to sleep tonight :(

Hope has feed four times so far since 8pm and air keeps waking up crying saying no sleep and huffing alot.

We have creative kidz in the morning at 9:30 then nursary at one and baby weighin at 1:30 and bf group at 2pm. I really need sleep.

Random; im hungry and i just want corn on the cobb (i dont have any) :(

hawthers · 24/05/2012 07:53

I'm close to breaking.

I'm so tired I haven't had more than 2 hours sleep in a row for 5 nights. F keeps waking up and sometimes feeding but twice last night I managed to pop some bonjela in and he went back to sleep. But I'm still up. Don't know whether he is hungry due to not feeding enough in the day or whether my milk supply is rubbish so he is hungry.

Feel like just giving up bf just to be sure its not that he is hungry. I'm a shit bad tempered mum when I'm tired and I know that is all it is as when I've had some sleep I've got infinite more energy to be fun and not snappy. Don't know what to do but this can't continue.

OiMissus · 24/05/2012 08:20

Hang in there.
He is probably getting enough food - if he's bright and bubbly and growing. And in a few weeks we'll all be introducing new foods to fill 'em up a bit more. He's probably waking more just due to heat/teeth.
Formula fed babies do sleep better, unfortunately for us. Maybe try a carton of formula for his last feed at night to fill him up. Maybe DH can do it and you can get to bed an hour earlier and have some true "in a room on your own" sleep? - Then you can be sure he's getting a good fill, and you can get a bit more sleep.
I'd been thinking of doing the same thing, but as I'm already at work, I'm bf-ing less already, so missing out a bit on the bf connection, and also it is probably affecting my supply - expressing once during the day is not like doing 3-4 feeds.
I have also been very snappy these last few weeks, not with BOi (who is the sun, the light and the moon ;p ), but with DH. He knows it's due to my tiredness, and is doing his best to help out at nights. (He is therefore a star).
We'll get through it.

AnAirOfHope · 24/05/2012 09:18

I think its trial and error. If you think its the teething could you give him calpol before bed and see if that helps. At least if it does you will get a nights sleep. If not then try him with ff top up at bed time.

Also it could be the heat.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 09:24

We had a much better night last night. Only 1 wake up at 1am. However, me & the girls overslept this morning so mad rush to get ready for school...Darcie did get to school on time thank god...

Now time for toast and housework :( then time to sit in the sun.

Figgygal · 24/05/2012 09:31

Another crap night here he was up at 12.15, 3.30 and 5.30 tried for ages to get him down without giving him any food but was a lost cause. Think it's just the heat but he had 2 meals yesterday, a rusk at lunch and a dessert last night so how can he still be hungry !!

Am driving to Birmingham airport today to fly he for weekend not looking forward to it, he's flown twice already and did it solo first time but am tired today and not optimistic in this heat.

aethelfleda · 24/05/2012 09:48

Hawthers, there are lots of options, and switching to mix feeding or ff is definitely one of them, us ladies on thread are all doing a variety of things and it's what keeps you going that is important. Having tried and failed the mixed-feeding front I'm still BFing but I know that there is a limit to how long I want to keep doing it, we've been up every few hours too with the heat and it's exhausting. Do post here if you find it cathartic, that's why I'm on here so much!

Right, baby fed, changed and zonked. Now to go and buy him a hat that isn't held together with safety pins :)

hawthers · 24/05/2012 09:59

Hope it is just the heat ignores the fact he has been up loads all month even when it was cool and raining

I'm just tired which affects my mood and ability to cope or to feel like I'm coping. I guess I'm just venting. We already give 200ml of formula before bed to help with his weight but it doesn't seem to help with the sleep or the weight much.

Plus I haven't had my hair done in 6 months and can't fit into any of my clothes. Grump

MissRee · 24/05/2012 09:59

The sun has disappeared Sad

I'm waiting in for Wii Fit lady to deliver at last but she said between 9.30 and 10 Hmm

OiMissus · 24/05/2012 10:09

Get thee to a hairdressers! Get thee a cut and colour!
Beforehand, why not get thee a facial or something silly like that. Take a couple of hours of time out. Oh and buy a silly celebrity magazine or something.
(hmmm this is a good idea, I shall purchase some Housey magazines for my Do on saturday. House porn. :) )

AnAirOfHope · 24/05/2012 10:15

Hewther im the same i need my hair done too. I have also put on two stone from when Hope was born and i was no way skinny to start with so now i have over 5 stone to loss Sad Blush

Off to book hair appointment.

MissRee · 24/05/2012 10:23

Another one needing a haircut here before it all falls out just can't afford it until I'm back at work though Sad

MissRee · 24/05/2012 10:27

It came, it's here! My £1.20 Wii Fit has been delivered Grin

Now I can go shower!

HoneyLovesCake · 24/05/2012 10:37

Sling wearers; I'm not missing a trick am I? Sun protection in a sling = sun screen & a hat? There's no nifty device like the snoozeshade for non-buggy users? I want to get DS a wide brimmed hat but I think we'll have to perfect back carries first; it's all getting a bit bulky up front :)

CherryBlossom27 · 24/05/2012 10:38

Oh no, hope LO decides to sleep better soon Hawthers it's awful not getting enough sleep :(

Although I really wanted to breastfeed I am starting to enjoy some of the advantages of formula feeding in that ff babies do seem to stay fuller for longer and also that other people can feed the babies so you can rest. To be honest though, once you think they are in a habit, they change it soon enough anyway!

DS is sleeping between 10-12 hours a night now so I hope this is permanent!! I'm going to bed at 9pm just in case, but I am feeling like a real person again and not a zombie!

DS seems ok in the heat, I offered him some cooled boiled water and he had 10mls....wasn't impressed! He had less formula in the day than usual, but slept well so that's the main thing.

What's everyone else dressing boys in? Is just a vest ok if we're out and about or will people think I'm wierd?

Kitty5824 · 24/05/2012 10:44

I had my first haircut since March 2011 on Tuesday. Have now got layers cut back in so I no longer look like I'm growing out a chunky fringe (which was in fact the case) Hurrah! Now just need to find that home colour to cover the grey.

It's a new salon so they are doing everything at 50% off this month. £17.50 for a restyle doesn't seem too bad. Not sure I can afford to go regularly, but my SIL pointed out that her Son's GF is a hairdresser so might be investigating that avenue over the sumer Grin

I've just realised that I haven't replied to a single text or email this week. This may take some time.....

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 10:45

What is everyone doing today?

Kitty5824 · 24/05/2012 10:46

Oi Grin at house porn.

My Mum buys my DH a subscription to Living etc for Xmas each year....we drool and dream each month (and congratulate ourselves when we see anything in there that we already own!!)

Kitty5824 · 24/05/2012 10:51

Honey I just used a hat and sunscreen on Tuesday. TBH the biggest problem is how bloody hot you both get! He's going in the pram today.

Cherry I have some cute little shorts so he was in shorts and a vest yesterday. He's currently in his play pen in just a nappy....

DSM Plans for today are ironing (until the sun comes out here!) then round to SIL to prepare for a visit from royalty (my screaming queen of an uncle and his husband Grin). This will entail making lasagne and chocolate brownies, then buying vino and vanilla icecream.

Kitty5824 · 24/05/2012 10:52

Eeek, 920 messages already....someone witty needs to start thinking of new thread titles...how long till the wedding DSM?

OiMissus · 24/05/2012 10:55

it was lmf who referred to the house porn first, I can't take the credit. I just have the durty habit (only recently acquired, but when I have a new address truly confirmed, and the keys in my hand, I shall be subscribing!).

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 10:59

We are inside at the moment as Sky has been asleep...It's cool inside too.

Just going to put another load of washing on and chill out in the cool. Might bake a cake too.

Kitty 12 weeks to go eeekkk.

aethelfleda · 24/05/2012 11:02

cherry, we start the day out with a light teeshirt and shorts, will ditch the clothing once we're back inside forthe day as under 6 months o/ recommended that babies cover up with light clothing rather than sunblock (obviously you can cream the bits that stick out if you're not in shade or are planning lots of time outside).

Factor wise, I've always found factor 50 a pain as it tends to be very greasy and hard to put on: I use 30 for myself and the DDs and the occasional 50, and reaapply it. Factor 30 blocks 97% of UV and factor 50 blocks 98.5 so there's not much difference really, plus they both wear off before they wear out, so personally I think you're better reapplying factor 30 every 2 hours than putting on one coat of 50 and forgetting it.

You can buy something called p20 that is meant to give 8 hours protection but it reeks of alcohol and feels like linseed oil: we tried it last year, my DDs hated it And asked me to go back to the usual stuff!!

Last night DS was just in a nappy with windows open and it was still 25 in our bedroom.

Haircuts sound tempting but then you've got to keep them up....doing spmething to boost the spirits is excellent though!

aethelfleda · 24/05/2012 11:05

Honey, I've not seen shades for the front carriers but the rucksacky type backcarriers do have sunshades..

here

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/05/2012 11:17

It's actually 11 weeks till the wedding Grin
