Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissRee · 22/05/2012 20:37

He has his scan tomorrow so hopefully he'll be in for his op by Friday. It means we'll be able to visit him at the weekend provided freya's cold has cleared up. Jack liked going to visit him in hospital last time!

MissRee · 22/05/2012 20:43

Puke. In my face Hmm

NorthernChinchilla · 22/05/2012 21:03

Eeeeewwwwwwwwwww! Poor you!
Good aim 'n all, but how'd she manage that?

Someone has replaced my DP- he bought some fresh asparagus at the weekend, and then this evening steamed it (using my stock pot as a modified steamer) and served it up with butter and black pepper as a starter Shock and Confused

All his own doing.... and it was a vegetable as well, that's what really gets me...

MissRee · 22/05/2012 21:15

I lifted her over my head just at the wrong moment! Luckily I saw it coming and shut my mouth!

Well done MrChinny Grin I'm lucky in that DP is a trained chef (although that's not his job any more)!

DP's boss told him today that he shouldn't be getting up in the night with Freya as that's my job Hmm

YBR · 22/05/2012 22:37

missree Yum.. Hot ribena is just what I need.
and stinky Haddock to your DP's boss.

MsB hope you feel better soon. Well done your DD1.

Loving the sunshine ? got some stuff done in the garden while DH and LO were at Baby Song this afternoon. I now have a soil shortage and have to find time to ?dig out-- sieve the compost (yes really because of the neighbour's bind weed!).

OTOH I guess I need to start thinking about sun cream for LO. Can she use mine or does it need to be a special baby's one?

Apparently LO hardly napped at all today and thus was shockingly tired and whingy by mid-afternoon. Then she fell asleep on her bedtime feed so she's not really had enough fluids today. We need to get naps sorted during the day (she's pretty good at going down at night) any ideas?

hawthers · 23/05/2012 02:33

In case anyone was wondering, DS1 got on really really well with his potty training. Day 4 result was potty 15 ish, loo 6 and floor 0. In your face floor! Ha! He also managed to poo in the potty 3 times with only minor collateral damage.

Even managed to impress my hard to impress mil. I'm so proud of my big boy. He hasn't got stressed about any of it. nursery again tomorrow though and I read them the riot act so would hope that they will follow through and fingers crossed he gets on ok there as well.

Phew early days I know but was expecting it to go much worse than it has already.

LittleMissFlustered · 23/05/2012 04:11

We're up for the day:/

Well done to your oldest Hawthers:)

YBR I always use sensitive factor 50 when mine are babies then move them onto factor 30 when they're older. The boots baby stuff is pricy but good, I got mine on a half price offer so it was only £4.50:)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/05/2012 07:09

MissRee Haddocks for your DP boss Hmm

Hawthers Well Done to DS1 Grin

A better night here. Only got woken twice but a 4am took a lot of cuddles as teething pain. Gave her some teetha powder at 6:30 (when she woke again) and was happy immediately Smile

Today will consist of
school run,
taking my nan to dentist

Getting some fuel in the car as the light is on.
Taking nan grocery shopping.
Enjoy the sun!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/05/2012 07:12

YBR I brought a boots soltan pack last year and had kids factor 50 in there as well as adult 8, 15 & 30. Cost £10 (on sale)

But I put factor 50 on in real hot heat and 30 in not so hot heat. I don't want them to burn but I also don't want them to get Ricketts!

BJR · 23/05/2012 07:37

So DS is crawling/dragging himself about with glee! But he's also doing it in his sleep so just had a night of him headbutting the ends of the cot, didn't seem to bother him though. So I think this marks the end of worrying about sleeping on his back as the chances of keeping him in one place are minimal!

We are making a slow start to weaning with finger foods as hes coping quite well with it.

Missree Shock at dp's boss. Haddock I think! And wishing your Dad a quick recovery.

Hawthers yeah for DS1 sounds like he's doing really well and hopefully the nursery will be on board to encourage him today.

BeeMyBaby · 23/05/2012 07:57

BJR do you find that your DS actually swallows any of it? We've been at it for a week and not had much evidence of anything being actually 'consumed'.

YBR We're in Scotland so probably a bit different but I don't generally use suncream here as its virtually never sunny and they have DHs olive skin but if we go to abroad then we use factor 50 for children. Incidentally I originally used Banana boat for DD1 but she went all rashy so would perhaps stay away from that for anyone who is prone to allergies. I would second (or third) that Boots brand is very good.

Hawthers sounds like you are on the home stretch now with DS1! He's doing really well for only day 4 - just shows the whole 'it can be done in a week' is true if they are really ready.

Ugh, with the weather getting warmer I'm starting to feel a bit sick, I know it just the weather and lack of air but it does feel a bit like morning sickness and since I had ms in 2009 & 2011 its hard to not think about it as that. No more babies for now, body!

Getting more excited and feeling more positive about going on holiday on Friday to visit inlaws for 5 weeks. If nothing else hopefully I will get more sleep as they will want to look after the DDs. Also hoping to lose a few kgs there from heat & lack of meat. I will try to keep reading the thread but will probably not post much as internet there is very iffy.

OiMissus · 23/05/2012 08:05

Hurrah for potty training success!! Hawthers I'm so happy that he got the hang of it so quickly, you sounded so down-hearted at the beginning. Congratulations, I hope the success continues and that the nursery are supportive.
Sympathies, as ever, to all who have the plague, to those feeling badgers' arses, and to those whose young 'uns just will not bloody sleep. We are like zombies in the Oi household. His breathing is better, but he's still stirring frequently as he wakes himself up coughing.
BOi is happy esconsed (word and sp?) at grandmama's with his suncream (DH said that Tesco really only had factor 50 for babies?) and bestest Summery clothes. I am in my office, head to toe in cool creased linen.
I'm off to Germany next week, just for a night, I bet i won't sleep. I bet, the one night I have the opportunity for uninterrupted sleep, I bet I can't sleep. I really need to sleep!
I have forgotten my phone today. Doh! I'm hoping I won't miss any important calls. House latest: The valuation/survey is booked in for Friday, the estate agents sent out a pack to us yesterday to arrive today, the solicitor sent us his pack also yesterday to arrive today. Looks like we are going to move this time!
...Which is a good job. BOi is really getting too big for his crib. There's not a lot of room around him anymore, and now he's rolling, he's just thrashing into the sides. Not good! The sooner we can build his nursery furniture and get him into his cot, the better. Then of course, he'll be in his own room... not sure I like the idea of that. Although he may sleep through better, and we may all sleep better. Not sure I want to be too far away from my little snuggle pumpkin though.

OiMissus · 23/05/2012 08:42

And a hurrah for the movers too! baby BJR and the crawling set. :)
BOi rolls like a professional. And he pushes himself up with outstretched arms, and he pushes his bum up, but doesn't manage to tuck his knees up to bear any weight - yet. He is dying to get moving. He's always pushing forward, straining at the leash (but without a leash, honest!) but just unable to get anywhere. I took the door swing thing to mum's so he can play in that today.
In other news, back to house news, I am very excited now about the lounge. It is a plain rectangular room, big patio windows - but magnolia in colour and wooden floor, and double doors through to the dining room... Well, I was thinking yesterday of how we can create a feature - other than the windows - how do we set out sofas etc, in this odd featureless room... I started to look for fireplaces, and have seen some amazing fireplaces! We may have to save up rather a lot, but <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?start=238&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=929&addh=36&tbm=isch&tbnid=jSt53UGaXyrrRM:&imgrefurl=matildaroseinteriors.blogspot.com/2012/03/fireplaces.html&docid=epGVj3I6UxbPMM&imgurl=2.bp.blogspot.com/-76TqHQ8Sfyw/T2xNwtzMKaI/AAAAAAAAAno/ijnmhnKBvkQ/s640/contemporary-3-sided-fireplace-open-hearth-9424.jpg&w=640&h=426&ei=sEe7T9TCJIev8QPmvM3BCg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=962&vpy=617&dur=4800&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=163&ty=139&sig=118077497798549990836&page=8&tbnh=137&tbnw=185&ndsp=37&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:238,i:186" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here's an idea to remove the wall dividing the lounge and the dining room. Or there are a coupld of other very modern "back wall" ideas, <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?start=202&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=929&addh=36&tbm=isch&tbnid=l78A0baTpxyH4M:&imgrefurl=www.homeinteriorszone.com/interior-decoration/16-creative-sophisticated-fireplaces/&docid=FEaoq37ZJwHkNM&imgurl=www.homeinteriorszone.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/design-fireplace.jpg&w=319&h=318&ei=sEe7T9TCJIev8QPmvM3BCg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=378&vpy=590&dur=2238&hovh=224&hovw=225&tx=119&ty=133&sig=118077497798549990836&page=7&tbnh=142&tbnw=143&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:202,i:112" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here and here . If the links work... I have no idea how much these things may cost, but it'd be worth saving up for to have something so stunning, n'est-ce pas? Of course, now I've seen them I want them - you know what I'm like with my impatient shopping, and it'd be nice to have the room done in time for my impending 40th birthday (end October) so we can have a very posh par-tez. I may have to get a second job, or send BOi out to clean chimneys.

msbuggywinkle · 23/05/2012 08:48

bee they don't swallow much at first, but it doesn't take them long to get the hang of it!

Miri is occasionally swiping things to eat, I won't actively start until she is 6mths though.

hawthers well done!

Still ill today, feel drained...mostly because I haven't eaten since Sunday.

LittleMissFlustered · 23/05/2012 09:13

Octoboy is asleep. We were up from about 3, he went over at six and has been dozing on and off since. It might not be pix but it's something.

Enjoy the weather and house porn:)

I saw some Mr Men prints in selfridges (at £45 a pop) and thought it could be a great nursery theme, but would print off pics from T'interweb and frame myself with Ikea's help. Well, lucky me, because today's Achica sale is all these prints, posters and a couple of lovely paintings. If you open the items, click to enlarge, you can save the images at a decent resolution for printing yourselves. I don't normally advocate stealing, but help yourselves here - Mr Men and Little Miss. Sorted!

BJR · 23/05/2012 09:37

Bee I don't think he's actually eaten much of the food more picking it up and sucking it and having a bit of a chew! But he seems to be enjoying it. But as MsB said I don't think it takes them long to get the hang of it.

Sounds like it won't be long before Boi is crawling then Oi! I think Jack has inherited his Dad's determined attitude and is pulling himself about with pure stubborness!

Get well soon to all babies and mums in the biohazard crew

Figgygal · 23/05/2012 09:58

Danny has got rolling from his back to his front licked the minute I put him down he rolls over hes shown no interest in rolling back to front though. I wonder if his mobility is being affected by the fact that he sits on a doubled over duvet in the lounge as we have wooden floors maybe it's too soft for him to get momentum.

Today's activity will be limited to a walk and packing to fly to Scotland tomorrow, need a bigger suitcase for all boys clothes and the toys my dad bought when he was over at Disney last month on a tour of the states.

Just gave lo some mango surprise I think the surprise was that it's 60% apple and 20% mango Grin. MUst get his home made stuff out the freezer for later

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 10:15

Well done hawthers, that is brilliant of your DS!
oi, v exciting house stuff.
msb get well soon: maybe you ar salt depleted? Bananas and ready salted crisps (or some dioralyte from chemist) may help?
Good luck at inlaws bee!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/05/2012 12:00

My it's another gorgeous day...

Brought Sky a gorgeous summer dress and some rice cakes to nibble on.

Need summer clothes that fit, happy with my weight and height now - only downfall is that I'm not a size 6 anymore so no clothes....good excuse for a shopping spree Grin

MissRee · 23/05/2012 12:28

I attempted my 30-day shred DVD today... It's no good, the floor is unlikely to withstand that amount of heffer jumping up and down on it! and I don't want downstairs' new ceiling to cave in Blush

KateM77 · 23/05/2012 12:31

Get well soon MsB

What a difference a day makes...I'm starting to feel human again Smile Good timing too, as I'll have both DC's to wrangle look after on my own again tomorrow, and we go on holiday on Saturday.

Got DS weighed this morning. 18lb 5oz, dropping down percentiles a bit, but still above average so HV was happy. She thought my plan of stopping trying the bottles while we're away, and then trying again once we've started weaning and he's more used to new tastes and other things in his mouth, was sensible. She said of course all babies would take a bottle if they were hungry enough, but we both agreed there was no need to go hardcore just yet!

Figgygal · 23/05/2012 12:37

My 30 day shred is still in the wrapper so you've done better than me already .

I have bred a sun hater he's so miserable in this heat Sad

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 14:54

Yurg. I am not made for temps over 20 degrees. Especially when breastfeeding. And i've lost my favourite straw hat. I have another, but it's a navy fedora. Not quite the weather for it....

This calls for a paddlinng pool!

OiMissus · 23/05/2012 15:01

I am made for temps over 20 degrees, I was just born in the wrong country!
It's awful being sat in an office in this weather.

It's pretty bad, but I have no idea if BOi loves or hates the heat, I'll have to ask his grandma tonight. :(
DH is pale and freckly, but I think BOi is more like me.
Although his hair seems to be getting paler. He may turn into GingerBaby after all. :) When do they develop freckles?
