Don't get me wrong ladies, I love the heat but not the fecking humidity. Feel like i'm melting :(

DD2 I'm not sure she likes the heat either. Been trying to keep her out of it during the lunchtime hrs as bloody hot.

Oi DD1 freckles didn't start to appear until she was about 18mths ish. Am waiting to see if DD2 gets them.

MissRee · 23/05/2012 16:07

I looooove the hotness Grin I went to Florida in September, 6 months pregnant and LOVED the heat. All those people saying I wouldn't be able to handle the heat - pah, I laugh at you Grin

Figgygal · 23/05/2012 16:30

Im a true scot i burn the minute am in the sun, i crave holidays but then hate the heat when am on them. Justified having a white magnum earlier Grin so its not all bad.

Been lying around our bedroom floor with lo under the ceiling fan our digital barometer says its 30.7 outside. I took lo out in my car with the roof down for first time the sun just kept getting in his eyes (funnily enough) despite his big hat so wasnt very successful.

HoneyLovesCake · 23/05/2012 16:59

Trying not to Envy you all; it's been hazy at best in West Cornwall :( Probably best for my little snot monster I suppose; his breathing is laboured enough without adding heat & humidity. Speaking of which MissRee have you tried saline drops for your snot monster? Rocco hates them but they do help when he's too blocked to nurse.

Love the fireplaces Oi the first one especially. You'll have to put before & after pics of every room in your profile.

MissRee · 23/05/2012 18:18

We haven't tried saline yet but she seems tons better today and more importantly, didn't have us up in the night Grin

mopsytop · 23/05/2012 18:21

Hi all! Minimopsy still doing her hourly wakeups at night, this omtop of recovering from the nasty virus have made me too exhausted to follow/reply to thread. Sorry for rubbishness! Gorgeous day here! Baba has napped for max 30 mins ALL DAY and woke up at 5:30 am so not fancying chances of a good night tonight :(

But hey, the sun is shining!

Hope you're all well and fellow biohaz sufferers are on the mend...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/05/2012 18:23

My Darcie is getting enrolled in Brownies tonight. Don't know who is more excited me or her Grin She looks so grown up in her uniform Smile

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 18:43

It's still toooo hottttt...... Come back rain, all is forgiven!

(though I am planning a ninja shopping trip tomorrow for hats for DS and I. The so-called 3-6 month Blooming Marvellous sunhat I was hand-me-downed is attractive but a veritable bucket.)

MissRee · 23/05/2012 19:06

Freya and I will be going round to take full advantage of Nanny's garden tomorrow! I have two hand made cotton summer dresses for Freya and a lovely sunhat for her to wear Grin not to mention the cutesy jelly shoes you ever did see!!!

KateM77 · 23/05/2012 19:15

It's so nice to feel almost well again, and for the sun to be shining. I decided to take DS to swimming this afternoon as I was feeling so much better and because we won't be going for the next couple of weeks due to holiday and half term, and he decided he likes it again Grin. I think being almost naked in some relatively cool water was just the job for him today.

DD had a great day at nursery too. They played outside for all but the middle part of the day and had free choice of activities all day. The combination of gallons of suncream, sand, flour and glitter made for one grubby child and a lot of silt in the bath! She'll sleep well tonight I hope

Question: Is it safe to assume DS is still getting enough hydration just from breastmilk even in this heat? Given he won't suck on a bottle or cup I haven't been able to get any water down him.

KateM77 · 23/05/2012 19:17

Grrr! Neighbour has decided now's the time to get the ride-on mower out. That's shattered my evening's peace Angry

AnAirOfHope · 23/05/2012 19:29

Finaly got an outfit for Hopes Christening on Sunday :)

Aaron is being typical three yo and very trying at the momment. He went out in garden to play ladt nigjt and plaied with the nextdoor neioibourgh throwing the ball over fence for two hours and dh or i was not allowed in garden cos we cramped his stlye lol

Hope is teething big time and is chewing everything she can get in her mouth. Aaron has learned not to put his hair by Hope cos it hurts when she pulls it lol

KateM77 · 23/05/2012 20:10

Still mowing

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/05/2012 20:27

My big girl is now a fully fledged Brownie Guide Grin Sky was so well behaved during it too Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 23/05/2012 20:40

Aw bless, that's lovely DSM Smile. Did you take lots of pictures?

You'll have to post some pictures MissRee, Freya's so cute and photogenic I know that her in jellys will be worth seeing!

Sounds like you're suffering Mopsy, and I can sympathise with the whole 'not napping during the day' thing, it's a killer, although not as much as them waking so much at night.

DS is bloody DP's total mini-me very like his father, so it's Celtic colouring all the way. Will need to get an umbrella for the pram asap, and some factor 50. He hates being hot too, although it's if he's wrapped up too warm that he really objects, doesn't seem too bad so far in the heat, iyswim. I really hope he gets freckles though, sooooo cute!

Biohaz tendencies are reducing, though still falling asleep on DP come 10 o'clock. I am so bloody sad need to finish watching the Time Team I fell asleep in front of last night...

Off to do the carbonara for dinner now, whoop!

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 20:41

Yay for Darcie :)
kate, just breastmilk is fine as it naturally waters down in hot weather, though often babies want to nurse more when it's hot anyway so keep yourself very well hydrated. Formula or mixed feeding mummies are meant to offer normal feeds of milk/ formula plus offer water in between (or extra boob if mix feeding).

I'm debating whether to pass my leftover powder aptumil onto someone or chuck it as it ain't getting used and has been open at least 4 weeks :(

And DS's new feeding bibs arrived today, they are the doggie's knackers and highly recommended (but only get a few as they are a bit pricey, well worth it! I got 4 plain bibs and one with arms in: the arms ones are FAB when they self feed properly <a class="break-all" href="//)www.easynappies.co.uk/silly-billyz-snuggle-neck-large-plain-pocket-bibs---pale-blue--polka-stars-3734-p.asp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">silly billyz bibs

KateM77 · 23/05/2012 20:57

Ah DSM that's great Smile

Thanks aethel, I'd hoped that was the answer. I'd like to think that would explain why he's wanted to feed twice during the night for the last 3 nights, but it wasn't warm 3 nights ago!

I couldn't get the link to work btw

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 21:14

Northern, buggy parasols are a right PITA: can I suggest
You consider something like one of these Snoozeshades? there's a similar product called shade-a-babe, but it costs a tenner more and is bulky to fold up, whereas the snoozeshade fits into a little bag. It fits pretty much every single buggy too, and is SF 50+.

aethelfleda · 23/05/2012 21:15

Kate, there was a rogue ) in the link.

Try it now: bibs

OiMissus · 23/05/2012 22:24

I bow to your practical knowledge and experience, an may well invest in the bibs, but the snooze shade thing looks like a pram-burkha! Grin
Forgot all the other things I wanted to say,.. Sorry. Will try and catch up tomorrow.
I wish us all a good night. X

LittleMissFlustered · 23/05/2012 22:57

Tonight it would appear that we will mostly be doing hourly feeds:(

Hope everyone else has a good night:)

Oh and oi, yes the sunshades do look a bit OTT but trust me, when the sun is beating down and you have a 30 minute walk somewhere in the buggy, it's invaluable having a shade that you have remembered to bring with you and that actually works to keep LO comfortable. And that one does work pretty well (and they can't pull it off: umbrella shades stop working at about 10 months when junior discovers it's grabbable!).

LittleMissFlustered · 23/05/2012 23:14

Thanks. He's making dome spectacular noises:/
