I'd be impressed if you do that run engels! I have been back at the gym trying to fix a bad hip doing weights as prescribed by my physio. Went a bit crazy the first day though and couldn't walk down stairs afterward without wobbling. oooops.

15k in 45 mins?! Jeezo!!!
Do it, do it, do it!! GrinGrinGrin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 31/05/2012 21:26

My mistake, 41 mins

lookout · 31/05/2012 21:29

engels I am impressed with that food schedule. Wish E would eat that well Sad. Am finding it a bit frustrating tbh. Am also impressed by you wanting (WANTING????) to run 15k for fun. Impressed, but maybe confused. I don't 'get' running. Or indeed much that means raising my pulse rate.

Can sympathise with those with useless OHs! Mine was like this til I started telling him what to do Grin. Now it gets done and I get accused of being bossy but I don't care because I am bossy

Cheshire loving the mental image of a man covered in glitter etc after being worn out by an enthusiastic toddler. Roll on a few years time! Also please tell me what this means :'I decided to try and hardcore EC today'....

What is about the drawer knobs I wonder? E talks to the bars of his cot!

Scheh how did the curry turn out?
Pen Hope your hip is getting better. I have terrible back and knee problems but am just tootired lazy to do anything about them.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 31/05/2012 22:16

cheshire have you had P weighed recently? I know her and S are roughly the same so im just nosey curious Grin. S is 18lbs 6oz as of Wednesday (yesterday)

sassy34264 · 01/06/2012 00:27

hi.

just dropping in, as i cant sleep.

i hate it when i drop off the thread, as i feel like i cant post until ive caught up and i end up getting more and more behind.

i dont want to bring the thread down (i feel like im always doing that) but my mum has had a stroke. cant talk about it too much as tears are falling at that one little sentence. she is out of hospital now and doing better every day.

hope everyone is well. i promise to skim read at least before next post.

eva is great, although we have all had the sickness bug this week except jacob. Sad vomit and poo galore!!!!

Jnice · 01/06/2012 04:36

I dropped off too Sad

Sassy sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she and the rest of your family are doing ok x

I am cutting down on Internet time as sleep is such an issue right now I am going to bed when L does. Will try to skim periodically and keep up! Hope everyone is doing well.

Engelsmeisje · 01/06/2012 06:33

Oh sassy so sorry to hear about your mum

strawberrypenguin · 01/06/2012 06:55

sassy sorry to hear about your mum

Jnice hope sleep improves for you soon

engels just wow at you wanting to do that run it sounds horrible! Grin

lookout I have chronic knee pain too. It actually improved massively while I was pg but it's coming back now I'm spending so long on the floor with W

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 01/06/2012 07:02

sassy so sorry to hear about your mum Sad (((hugs)))

Engelsmeisje · 01/06/2012 07:10

it's called the 7 hills run which should be enough to put me off!

I've been trying to get DH to step away from technology in the evenings jnce as he has sleep problems too, but will he listen to me?!

LittlePebble · 01/06/2012 07:42

Hi Sassy so sorry to hear about your mum Sad

Jnice hope you get some sleep are you feeling any better?

Can we all make a pact if we drop off the thread to just come back on and post, not to worry about trying to catch up? Otherwise it can feel like a huge task and IME when you've dropped off the thread it's normally when you need the support.
So no guilt trips on here (we get enough in the real world) Wink

Engelsmeisje · 01/06/2012 07:52

to pebble

Okay, I have signed up for the hell hill run. It's here in thew town where I live, so there will be no escape excuse for my legions of supporters (I was a bit Hmm initially that none of my ILs made the effort to come and cheer me on in my 10k a few weeks ago, which was also on the doorstep, but was so knackered by the heat that by the time I got to the end I didn't care).

Have 5 and a half months to train. I know that I can run 15k, it's the hills that are slightly worrying me (they must have found the only 7 hills in Holland Grin ).

Am having a lazy day today after being up since 6 (M was shouting, teething troubles). Going to watch some trash tv ......still have to watch season 4 of True Blood Smile

sassy34264 · 01/06/2012 08:09

thanks everyone.

pebble its not that i feel guilty or anyone makes me feel guilty, its just that i feel im not 'in' with the group. iyswim. but i understsnd what you mean. x

had a quick skim- the most memorable being mrs poo taster! euw yuk! Grin

Grin at p talking to door knobs. eva can shout talk so loud she drowns the whole room out, including the tv.

scheh can i ask why you want to drop the morning feed and reduce milk? i was always under the impression that milk should still be given at a high amount until 12 months.
i still give twins a morning milk, it can be invaluable when they can hold the bottle themselves and you can get on with getting dressed, making breakfasts etc. i leave mine in their cots while they drink it.
also, i wouldnt personally reduce milk. if i had been making eva a 8oz bottle and she had started to only drink 6oz, then i would go with that, but i wouldnt try to reduce it, if she can still drink 8oz iyswim.

i blame blw for this. i think its becoming more and more like an internalised mantra that babies are mini adults and can eat what we eat. i give eva a cheese sandwich and then neurotically looked up the salt content.

1 piece of bread and 1 diary lee triangle has nearly 3/4's of her daily salt intake- and i put butter on too. from 7-12 months their only supposed to have 1gram. you are all worrying me with your curries chillies stock cubes please stop Grin

PenguinArmy · 01/06/2012 08:37

sorry to hear about your mm sassy

I find BLW'ers do not reduce their milk as early as fF as it is assumed they consume very little solids. I know for us bread is the DCs largest intake of salt, if people are making their dinners from scratch, even with a dilted stock cube it won't be that bad.

DS's sleep was normal last night but DD's wasn't. Hopefully we are getting there.

Penelope1980 · 01/06/2012 08:38

Sassy my thoughts are with you, your poor mum

pebble I agree! I dropped off the thread for about 4 months last year for that very reason. I do know you lot a little bit better now though Grin

engel yay signing up for the run! I went back to the gym today, all inspired by your run although all I did was sit on the bike and read about the Kardashians

Scheherezade · 01/06/2012 08:43

sassy sorry to hear about your mum :( i hope she makes a good recovery x

I'm not dropping his morning milk, just the mid-morning. He still has bottle at 6-7am, but it was getting too much (for him) as he'd then have breakfast, another bottle, lunch (which is a hot meal, same as dinner) another bottle, dinner, bed bottle. He was constantly eating! He slept right through his 11am bottle yesterday and woke up at 12.15, so I'm going to drop that 11am bottle and offer a snack of fruit/yoghurt instead.iyswim. he was already down to 4oz anyway, and has been sicking up a lot as I think he's having too much. If he's screaming for a bottle today I'll give him one. I'd rather he had good, fresh homecooked food and fruit/veg than artificial milk with artificial crap chucked in anyway Tbh Grin. But he's older than Eva, he's over 8mo now.

Curry came out well! I didn't use stock, just mild chilli powder and ginger. Can't taste the chilli really, it just tastes of squash and onion haha. I'll give him a bit today and see what he thinks.

Scheherezade · 01/06/2012 08:47

I really struggle with catching up, so I just don't bother now Blush hope nobody minds!

Engelsmeisje · 01/06/2012 08:48

I never add salt/stock to Ms food. If I'm making something that uses stock, like a chicken pie, then I'll cook Ms chx/veg in a separate pan.

PA re: bread, same here. Lunch is the only thing with added salt, in bread and cheese spread or whatever he has on it.

Can you believe it, a friend has just emailed me to say she's getting married the day before the run I;ve just signed up for! (wedding is in UK of course!) so I either have to cancel race o or not go to wedding. She emailed me a few weeks ago to give tentative date for wedding (whihc was the week before the new date). TBH was quite surprised to hear from her; old uni friend, have seen her twice in the last 2 years, DH has never met her (and we've been together for 6 years). Dilemma!

CheshireDing · 01/06/2012 09:21

Aww Sassy don't bother to read the whole thread you will be there for years Grin. Nice to hear from you, I hope your Mum continues to get better. Is the situation with Ex-P improving? Make sure you have some Pimms this weekend, you deserve it after the last few months.

Lookout EC is "Elimination Communication". I watched a programme a few months ago about slightly alternative Mums and it was on there and since then I decided P was going to try it as I found it fascinating. They did other stuff on the programme like eating cooked Placenta but I am in no way THAT alternative EC is about them using the potty really early, in a nutshell the current book I am reading says they already know at birth and give you signals as to went to went to wee/poo but they are too wobbly to go on a potty then so I started P in January but it's really hard when you need to go out of the house so we don't do it all the time. When we are at home I try to put her on every 2 hours but yesterday was putting her on more often because she was nappy less (hence the wee on the baby gym)! I just found it really interesting (and I am a bit mad) and thought it was worth a go.

Isn't there some research about evening technology affecting sleep (usually teenagers are used as the example I think)? I think that is why a paper book is better, it's less stimulation. Or something like that anyway.

Engels typical! Initially though I am thinking send a present and do the run if you have not seen her for 2 years anyway :)

Fuzzzy I have been meaning to ask about S for ages re weight and keep forgetting. I am sure she was about 15lbs about 3 weeks ago and still on 23rd. I need to check because I wanted to measure her too. Will come back to you.

Scheherezade · 01/06/2012 09:33

Engel, can you just go to the ceremony and miss out reception/evening do?

Don't think he'll be having 11am bottle, still not had breakfast! He woke up late, and I like to leave an hour between bottle and food. Then he went for a nap, didn't sleep long, was screaming and miserable when I tried to feed him, so he's gone back for another nap, and I'll try feeding him when he wakes up.

Bread as only salt here too. I was worried about cheese but nurses in hospital said it was fine. Also DP gives him weetabix for breakfast on weekends as he cba to make porridge (I slow cook oats on hob) and that has sugar&salt. But its ok I keep telling myself

LittlePebble · 01/06/2012 09:34

I make our bread in a bread maker does that mean it has less or more salt than bought?
Just heard Chris Evans has named his son Elijah not sure whether I like that or not.....

LittlePebble · 01/06/2012 09:35

engels would you like an excuse to visit UK and all your family? If so I'd go, otherwise as Cheshire said.

Penelope1980 · 01/06/2012 09:41

cheshire that reminds me, wasn't there someone on here that was planning on eating the placenta? Wasn't it Molybenum (sp?)?

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 01/06/2012 09:41

we used to have a breadmaker and then moved and couldn't take it with us, i keep meaning to steal borrow my mums.

engles ditto what chesire said

maybe if I had been at home with DD i would have tried EC but i definitely weren't doing it with DS. gearing up to attempt potty training this weekend although is she is still unwell maybe not.
