Hi Arabella - I wasn't in the original group, nice to meet you! I have 3 DS ages 9, 5 and Leo who was born on oct 22. No matter how easy it is always impressive hearing about a mum managing with twins, plus another under 2! I hope the heart issues are under control and good luck with the consultant.

Scheh happy 8 months to C! That just sparked a memory from the baby books, does separation anxiety happen soon? Maybe C has started that if he's extra clingy recently? Hope you get some respite from it soon.

Jnice · 24/05/2012 17:55

MrsH those bears are so adorable! I am going to put those on a wish list for each of my DSs. What a great way to make a keepsake.

emmazed · 24/05/2012 17:59

Hi arabella welcome back and congrats on the twins. How amazing that they are no more work than one. I am so impressed at anyone with twins

Had a lovely day in the garden. We were in the shade, so no sunscreen. Sounds like I should have though. Can anyone recommend a good sunscreen for babies, or are they all similar?

sch I give J 3 x 8oz a day, though he doesn't always finish them. They are supposed to have about 20oz a day, though this does reduce as they get older and rely more on solids.

lookout · 24/05/2012 20:39

E took a bottle!!! At last Grin He's been refusing since around 9 weeks (he had tongue-tie, took ages to sort, I had cracked bleeding nipples and expressed and gave bottle for first 8 weeks) so this is a real break through! I had one hard booby last night so expressed for the first time in ages and thought we'd try the bottle at tea time. He loved it haha!

arabella i guess you're lucky to have 'easy' babies but even so I too am seriously impressed with anyone who has multiple small children. i have a 7 year age gap pretty much and I find that hard enough!

Jnice glad to hear you're feeling better. I'm interested in the cbt but am too weak to demand the GP refer me (see posts re: allergy clinic!)

em we didn't have suncream on either Blush must get that sorted out.

Sche happy 8 months C! Can't believe that's 2/3 of a year...

Engels it's always a worry about fitting things in then eventually it just slots into palce. Takes a bit of tweaking though I guess!

I'm finding this BLW lark very wasteful. I throw away more than E eats and I hate wated food Sad He's having a go at things but not liking much so far. Rejected tuna mayo sandwich, pasta and butternut squash pancakes today(though tbf the last was cos we gave him the bottle of milk and he loved it so much it distracted him from the rest!) I also seem to be running very quickly out of ideas.

CheshireDing · 24/05/2012 21:24

MrsH hope the furniture shake up goes well :)

Hello Arabella, nice to meet you. That is my October baby's middle name :) - Poppy Arabella

Sorry you feel deflated Lookout, although I can see why you would. Glad your boob is feeling better though Grin. Do you not know any dogs/chickens for the food? Grin. It does get less wasteful though, P only chucked a few grains of rice over the side yesterday and she used to be proper messy.

Bloody hell Scheh I would have lost the plot well before an hour, how did you manage that?! I thought you had a chair with wheels things (can't think of the word), will C not sit in that whilst you do bottles etc for a few minutes? P doesn't like being restrained but I have a Bumbo on one floor, a chair on the other etc whilst I have a wee/make a drink. Plus I sing to her - she loves it (for now)

I think P still has the same amount of bf some days plus the food on top, if I don't have much time she might just get a crumpet/bit of toast/sticks of cucumber and houmous, the big fruits like mango/pineapple I can usually make last 3 days by slicing a couple off here and there for her and then putting the rest back in the fridge - it seems to be okay so far.

Good to know that nursery would give them their first meal I suppose, I knew they did "breakfast" but hadn't really thought about it properly.

Engels that's a lot of poop per day Grin I think you are making up for our lack of poop.

A nosebleed doesn't sound so nice Jnice you poor thing. Isn't separation anxiety 9 months-ish (as that's when some of them go to nursery so double whammy) so maybe C is going through that now Scheh as Jnice said. Happy 8 months to him though :)

Seriously in need of a holiday, rang up for a quote to Dubai - quote given, er, that'll be a no then. Might be a lottery ticket tomorrow.

CheshireDing · 24/05/2012 21:33

Pebble very Envy of your beach day. We use the wallpaper steamer to steam the travel cot (well we will when we get around to it)

ipswichwitch · 24/05/2012 22:48

Yaay a poop here too!! From sound of it engels LO been pooping for all of us :)

Good going with the bottle lookout, N still flatly refusing so we're persevering with cups n that's going ok. Still not getting far with food, had half his porridge for b'fast, he was too ratty at lunch so I didn't push it, but he managed a few spoons of purée, chewed a handful of pasta shapes with cheese and green beans, and threw toast on the floor!! Been wondering if I should offer more snacks as MIL says no so he eats his meals but surely the important thing is to get him eating??

scheh hope you're getting somewhere with the cc, it ain't easy I know it ain't easy. Happy 8month to C

cheshire I'd say N is bf the same, MIL reckons I should stop night feeds n cut down day feeds to make him eat more solids but I thought u supposed to let them cut down bf themselves as they eat more. Maybe I'm wrong?

ipswichwitch · 24/05/2012 22:58

Hi arabella and welcome, hope the cardiologist has good news for you. I'm also getting nursery to give N his breakfast. I'll have to be up at half 6 when I'm back to work in less than 3 weeks (sob!), to drop him off at half 7 n start work at 8. Don't think I'll have time for breakfast never mind feeding him!!

Penelope1980 · 25/05/2012 01:17

Arabella I had wondered where you had got to! Am pretty sure it was you that started the thread in the first place ...

Jeez it's strange to read about being 4 weeks pg and worried about my positive test being a mmc when I can see him playing in front of me now. Reminds me of how lucky I am.

Morning all.

so funny looking back at that thread. I didn't pop in until half way through the first thread as was a bit later finding out than you arabella and pen.

M is being a right little wriggler this morning, grunting and shouting away to himself. heading off to see grandma and grandad later (when DH hauls himself out of bed Smile ). Really nice having my mum and dad around for a week, first time they've seen M IRL for 3 months. We'll be back over at least twice more this year, but makes me realise how much I miss them sometimes (though TBH I'm also tearing my hair out ready for them to go home by the end f their stay Grin ).

Have a good day everyone.

Engelsmeisje · 25/05/2012 07:48

M keeps going for my laptop cable...little devil!

lookout · 25/05/2012 09:15

Ches no dogs or chickens sadly. I'm gritting my teeth and bearing it for the time being. I'm sure it will get better. Know what you mean about the holiday, I'm counting down the days til we leave for ours. 25th July here we come...

E is def still having th same amount of bf plus meals. Maybe that's why he's not eating? Are we supposed to limit milk ourselves or wait til they do? No snacks at all though yet, it's hard enough getting him to eat dinner let alone a snack. Wouldn't have a clue what to give him anyway Confused.

ips your MIL has a lot to say, doesn't she?! I knoww they're supposed to have a morning and an afternoon snack when thy get properly going but I'm not gonna force it. He's finding meals hard enough so don't want to overload him with food. Poor you for going back to work Sad. It'll be fine once you get into it, hopefully, and N will love nursery!

Engels enjoy seeing your folks. Where are they over from? We don't get to see mine that often either as they retired to live in France nearly 4 years ago. Thank goodness for skype though! DH is also French and his parents are older and travel less so they haven't even met E yet. Will see them this summer and can't wait!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone Smile

emmazed · 25/05/2012 09:37

lookout I know what you mean about the waste, I hate it so have been eating bits of chewed/dropped on the floor food! Tho we are only doing bits of finger food

I deliberately reduced J's milk intake (his dream feed and 11am feed) until I dropped them entirely. Worked for us, but I don't know if that is what you are supposed to do!

Wanted to share something I read - I had been giving J one or two toys to play with at once do not to overwhelm him/create a big mess. I read it was best to give them lots to choose from. Since I have done that he will happily play by himself for ages. He just picks up and puts down each thing and is v interested in it all.

MamaMaiasaura · 25/05/2012 09:39

lookout guidelines are that Breastmilk provides all your baby's nourishment for first year of life and food is fun/exploring/starting to provide nourishment. I am not planning on limiting time on breast and let Jessica nurse whenever she wants. However she's not wanting to half as much as her brothers did. Every baby is different.

MamaMaiasaura · 25/05/2012 09:40

Jessica keeps going for iPhone Hmm perhaps I'm on it a leetle too much Blush

lookout · 25/05/2012 09:55

Mama thanks for that. E is the opposite, he can't get enough milk! Ds1 was slowing down by now and stopped at 8 months with no difficulty whatsoever. I think this one is gonna be b'feeding for a good long while yet!

em ah, the curse of the mother - eating leftovers! My mum still blames that for her weight problems haha!! That's really interesting about the toys, we generally do give him a load of stuff and it's worked so far, so the proof appears to be there!

Penelope1980 · 25/05/2012 10:41

em I used to do the one or two toys too, but one tip I got that works for me is I have a low container filled with all his toys, rather than putting them on the floor he really likes picking through the box himself.

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 25/05/2012 12:14

I pick food up from the floor and put it back on his tray I do dettol the floor though

I have a couple of things, namely a treasure basket and a box of toys. I swap between giving them to him as he does get bored of the same selection of toys

Scheherezade · 25/05/2012 13:46

Cyrus is refusing his chicken stew & pasta dinner, so he's having apple for lunch Hmm

MamaMaiasaura · 25/05/2012 14:59

Omg. Totally taken aback by my mum today. She's usually not free with her parenting compliments and I often think that she's bitten her tongue. She never bfed us for example and in those days put rusk in bottles etc. also when my dx have cried with other people holding them or just because they need me shes said in past, they'll learn. I've ignored that and it's caused tension at the time. Well today, she said that she thinks I've been right o follow my instincts and research says not to leave baby crying as it makes them unhappier. This was in the midst of telephone call with Jessica crying and I was feeling torn as wanted to talk to myth about ds2 diagnosis as feeling a bit crappy. Sorry rambling but so nice to hear her compliment me Smile phew.

ipswichwitch · 25/05/2012 16:03

mama it's always nice when your mum says something like that - I alays think no matter how old I am I feel like a kid again!

W got a big oilcloth type may for feeding time as N loves to take a bite/suck of hi food then throw it straight on the floor! Everything that land on the mat gets put on the tray again (mat gets washed loads!!)

scheh, N had chicken stew too. And actually ate some ...

:) lookout yes MIL does have lots to say!! She's actually v lovely but totally doesn't get bf'ing at all. Keeps wanting to give N juice, chocolate, formula, rusks in bottle of milk, and we said no to all. Then nearly had a coronary when I gave him a bit cheddar!!

strawberrypenguin · 25/05/2012 16:38

mama it's always nice when your mum says something like that Smile

I've found the trick to getting W to eat over the last couple of days is to give him cold food straight from the fridge so he's had lots of fruit and veg both chopped and puréed. He's even had some of his bottles cold which he usually still likes quite warm.

Has anyone else found they have been ill more since having their lo's I'm on my fourth cold in about 3 months and I didn't have a cold the whole time I was pg or for at least 6 months before that. Don't know if it's just coincidence or not
