Tata are also an Indian telecommunications giant, and an IT consultancy - massive company!

Hi all - I've been AWOL largely due to the DSs managing to tip a glass of water over my laptop. That was not cheap to have fixed...

I am feeling triumphant today, because I managed to go to Ikea with both boys, have lunch and come away unscathed having only spent £21! Grin

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 24/05/2012 17:31

Hey all! Smear results today say I'm normal!

Oh my god I was actually terrified.

Celebrating with pimms in the sun, a naked baby and an improvised paddling pool! (a big mixing bowl!)

And my year 11s had their last exam today. All is good. Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/05/2012 17:43

Oh UBW that is brilliant news! I had been wondering whether you had heard anything, but I didn't like to ask and make you even more anxious!!

Grin

I forgotten the best thing about warm weather. Messy children eating their spaghetti bolognese outside = less clearing up for me!!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 24/05/2012 18:26

Thanks Ali,

Thanks everyone for holding my hand through that. An putting up with my irrationality!

Thanks
Kittycatcat · 24/05/2012 18:32

Fab news ubw Grin

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/05/2012 18:40

Great news UBW Smile

Not such good news about your laptop though Ali. But I am impressed about your £21 spend in Ikea

Baby I has ingested a lot of grass and dirt today, he is loving being outside. Infact both boys are loving being outside, I forgot what hard work it is with a baby though - constantly having to move him away from this and that. I think I need to baby proof the garden a bit more.

Tonight I will be painting my toenails a lovely shade of shocking pink.

Starshaped · 24/05/2012 21:40

Yay UBW SmileGrinSmile

Frakiosaurus · 25/05/2012 12:50

Good news UBW You did the right thing going and checking even though it must have been pretty scary.

Ali hope the laptop is shiny and new now. I have Ikea envy....there's going to be one about an hour from where we're moving to. Hurrah!

ILTMI hot pink sounds fab. I'm currently sporting very faded Chanel red.

I really need to focus on work. It's not happening. I'm MNing instead.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 26/05/2012 21:48

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather! F's been loving playing outside in the sandpit etc.

I've just spent an hour or so making up 3 first aid kits. We've got a lot of bits and bags (proper red FAK ones) from DH's random travels and with F imminently (I hope) walking, and probably running, I thought I better start making sure we've got stuff to hand. Overkill much?!

Also, the vivid memory of my little sis injuring herself at every opportunity keeps popping to mind, since he's starting to look a bit like she did at that age!

So we now have an insanely comprehensive kit in the kitchen, complete with sterile kit (I don't plan to use that!). A medium sized car kit which even includes spare nappy & wipes. And a mini "Felix" kit which I've provisionally attached to the belt of the carrier.

I'm going to look like a right pfb freak with that, aren't I?! However, I almost don't care, this child is genetically predisposed to hurting himself.

Just need to get him a little hi-viz jacket, skate helmet and ear defenders and we'll be ready for a summer of fun!

Kittycatcat · 26/05/2012 22:40

Hehe ubw

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/05/2012 08:46

We are loving this weather.

However the wearing of White linen trousers has also coincided with the return of my period Hmm. gutted. Ah well, a run of nearly two years of being period free has been great. I will keep on having periods now until the menopause - a strange thought.

Dh has an appt with the GP who does the big V. He has to have this chat, then the next step is the actual op. I have to go with him to the chat appt or he has to take a letter from me saying that I agree with his decision. I think that is outrageous. His body, his choice.

Fingers crossed my mojo is on it's way back [punches the air]

Enough of my periods and my sex life Grin. I hope everyone has a fab day in the sun. We're off to my parents for a BBQ.

Kittycatcat · 27/05/2012 12:49

That's odd eh ilike

My friend had a baby girl last night. Olivia. 8.15. Assisted forcep delivery. Cut and stitched. Ow.

chillikat · 27/05/2012 14:13

Congrats to your friend, Kitty :)

We're having a nice time in the sun - M seems to go off for her nap much quicker in the heat.

You've very organised with your first aid kits UBW. I only have a couple of antiseptic wipes in the changing bag.

Not much to report really.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/05/2012 16:46

ILike - inspired by your post I bought a water table for the garden. It was an instant hit!
'Great', I thought, and headed inside to prep the dinner...

Cue T appearing at the back door with compost all over his face Hmm Transpires that DS1 thought it would be a good idea to dig up the courgette plants which are finally starting to do something and move them plus a whole load of soil into the water tray.

Grin
GlaikitFizzog · 27/05/2012 18:47

Hee hee I've bought a water table too. Delivery due tomorrow. Probably will coincide with the weather turning and we will get no use of it or the small slide I've bought too!

We have proper walking at last after months it seems like of him insisting he holds on to something to walk. I think he's a bit like dumbo because he has to be holding a mega block or he'll just sit down.

My bestie was down for the weekend. First time I've seen her since the break up. But she is looking fabulous after a yoga retreat (she is a stinking hippy on her downtime but is a corporate highflier otherwise!!) and very ok about it all which is a huge relief for me. In a way the guy she calls her "one that got away" has been in touch randomly so they are meeting up when she is darn sarf with work next week. I feel like a giggly teenager with her again!!

Dh has got soccer aid on. Gerard butler in short hello :o

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/05/2012 20:06

Ha! Here's irony for you.

24 hours after my first aid kit fun, DH has injured himself.
Whilst surfing.
The other side of the county.
With a mate with no car insurance (comprehensive or otherwise).

And, of course, I didn't put anything in the car-kit for dislocated knee caps.

He reckons it's ok (right Hmm), he reckons he can probably get to A&E to get it checked out/strapped up, and then get home (it's about an hour's drive).

Personally, I think it's an interesting coincidence that this has happened the night before the childminder is off on holiday and DH has to look after F by himself all week! And there I was looking forward to having a house-husband.

I'm going to going do some warm-up stretches so I don't injure myself pointing & laughing when he finally crawls home. (There's no way I can get him & the car, he's going to have to work it out himself).

GlaikitFizzog · 27/05/2012 20:33

Oh no! Can you. All and add friend to the insurance as an emergency measure?

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/05/2012 20:42

I tried, but the insurance company don't answer the phones at this time on a sunday.

But, since the initial wail, he has realised he can actually walk on it and will probably be fine to drive. So they've gone to the pub.

I think he just rang to brighten my evening with a minor-drama!

Having done some googling - since it "spontaneously" reduced (DH popped it back in himself) it's likely to be fine and just need some follow-up physio to stop recurrence.

It's actually a good thing - he's got a bunch of time off this summer for bike races, and now he'll just have to play with F and me instead! Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 27/05/2012 20:58

Ooh sounds painful. I dread dh playing football every Tuesday as he has limped in a few times recently. Mostly bruises and strains but one day it will be a biggie I just know it. When will they a act their ages and. Not their shoe sizes!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 27/05/2012 21:03

You see, this is the problem with sport! You don't see me injuring myself sitting at home watching tv & MNing planning, marking and eating chocolate!

I've been expecting the call for ages. All DH's activities are ones he travels to (climbing, mountain biking, surfing etc.), and since we only have the one car, if he's got it and he injures himself, he has to get himself home somehow!

I'm constantly saying things like "don't injure yourself", and "if you hurt yourself I can't come and get you".

And this is why F needs his own FAKs! It's genetic!

GlaikitFizzog · 27/05/2012 21:13

I know. There was a spate of relatively healthy and fit guys dropping down with heart attacks playing 5 a side recently that put the wibbles up me as DH is on the "athletically chunky" end of the fitness spectrum.

I think they should have mning as an Olympic sport. I'd be up there for a medal I think!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/05/2012 08:55

Hope your dh got home ok UBW.

Glad our lo's are enjoying the water tables. I had to give ds2 lots of rules surrounding the table. 'no dirt, no sand, no grass, no sitting in it, no climbing in it, no tipping it over, no pouring the water over your brothers head etc etc', however I don't think I included compost on the list Grin

Anyone else smother their dc in suncream but forgot to do themselves? Blush My shoulders are rather red Blush, I was hoping it would be superficial and that it would go down over night. Apparently not.

GlaikitFizzog · 28/05/2012 10:25

See I would have though compost would come under the no dirt rule! I shall learn from you and be totally specific when my time comes.

B is hating getting the sunscreen on. He is refusing to keep a hat on too so I have to slather sunscreen through his hair. He had a do like Keith from the prodigy yesterday. I'm also chasing him round the garden with a sun shade. Ut he doesn't sit still for long enough. He is having a nap now so I am having a rest. I don't fair well in the heat. I think this is why I'm pale and Scottish. I'm not meant to be exposed to the sun very often. I'm not wishing the weather away thoug. I will struggle on :o

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 29/05/2012 18:50

Aargh. Flipping bitey child.

Last week F bit my nipple, drew.blood & v sore. The scab's only just been sucked fallen off.

He's just bitten the other one. Grr. My poor nips.

Is this how/why people give up BFing?

Oh, and he's getting really angry/tantrumy. I think it's because DH gives him whatever he wants as soon as ge squeals.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/05/2012 06:40

Ouch. Is he teething?

Or he might me testing boundaries or trying out a new sensation (who knows what goes through their minds sometimes).

Nip biting in the bud immediately, he will get the message quickly. Strongly tell him no. Stop the feed. Walk out of the room for a short time. Come back in the room. Tell him no biting again and resume the feed.

If he does it again push his face into your breast. Because he can't breath he will quickly let go. It's a much better way than pulling them off, I think it's often pulling them off that causes the nipple damage.

Ds2 is poorly and woke up at 3.30. This woke baby I up and he wailed on and off for an hour. I brought I into our bed at 5.30, then dh snored like a fucking drain. It is going to be a loooooooooooong day.
