I'm addicted to the logo quiz app too ILTMIMI. My eyes are permanently peeled for logos at the mo. I was most pleased when I clocked the Electrolux logo on the job yesterday and realised it was one of my missing answers!

I'm feeling your pain on the sick front too. DD woke up stinking of it the other morning after a coughing fit in the night. I felt like an awful mum for not going in when she was coughing and therefore unwittingly leaving her to sleep in it Sad

JKSLtd · 21/05/2012 20:11

Have got DD up in the morning discovering her in a pile of sick here too.

Travel sickness - worth trying those bracelets, can't remember the name, that have a magnet in, a friend used them for her DD when she was too young for the tablets.

Ages ago, someone mentioned about bibs being pulled off - I swear by the Silly Billyz, they have poppers and so far none of my kids get them off.

DD is now crawling & cruising everywhere, somehow this hasn't made her happier but crosser as she encounters the word NO every 5 seconds! Grin *

MrsWajs · 21/05/2012 20:45

Aha electrolux!!! Thanks star was one of my missing ones too!! Grin

We also have snot - eyes and nose! Yum. No vomitting as yet tho. Also another tooth - finally! Will make 4 in total now :)

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 21/05/2012 21:48

Thanks JKS, although I can't believe a magnet would do anything useful , but you have reminded me of the acupressure bands (which do have some evidence to support!) which I've used myself before (ferries. Yuk), and it looks like boots do a child size pair. However, if they're just elasticated, I'm sure he'll pull them off pretty sharpish.

...maybe I could gaffer tape them on...

GlaikitFizzog · 21/05/2012 22:11

I use one of those magnet thingies for period pain. I really do think it makes a difference!

Bicarb has taken most of the smell away, now it's just a little bit of a whiff if you are crawling about on the floor. I'll have a go with the carpet attachment on my steam mop at the weekend.

Can I ask if anyone puts their DC on a potty at this age? A friend of mine does and he DC will poo in it. I don;t think B would stay still long enough to sit on it for the required amount of time.. Her DC is less mobile than B so maybe it will change. I just thought it was a bit strange to being doing it at this age.

B has his appetite back at last! I was getting a wee bit worried as he was beginning to lose his baby pot belly.

I'm off to bed! Work tomorrow

JKSLtd · 22/05/2012 06:15

I'd be a bit hmm about the potty yet tbh but if it works for her... Can't imagine dd sitting there long enough either.

I think I meant the acupressure ones actually (my dad wears a magnet one and thinks it helps but I'm not sure). Think fried may have put them on the holds ankles? Or under long sleeves, will have to ask when I see her next.

Awake early for no reason then ds2 got up. He wants my phone to play on so best go Grin

Fraktal · 22/05/2012 07:00

We do EC so M has been on the potty since about 9 months and has just graduated to the big toilet with a reducer seat. We have a 50/50 success rate Wink but he wees reliably in the morning and after his nap.

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2012 09:50

I cant be arsed with using the potty, but there is no harm in having it visible and talking about it. My dsis started her two from about this age and they were both trained by 18 months.

Another night of rolling in sick for Baby I, and then ds2 woke up at 4.30 having puked in his bed, dh brought him into our bed and then I had to rush to the toilet with d&v. Joy.

I spotted the Unilever logo on my washing powder yesterday Grin

ecuse · 22/05/2012 13:41

Oh my god I can't believe we're talking about potty training already. Weren't our babies just born 5 minutes ago? :o

We had our weekend (well, 24 hours) away. It was amazing, I feel utterly recharged after just one night, and it's lasted until Tuesday so far!! Jo nearly threw a spanner in the works by being up all Friday night with what turned out to be a chest infection. She was so unhappy at night and first thing in the morning that I took her into the docs, who luckily had a space at 8.10am and gave her some antib's and a ventolin inhalor. Still, I'd decided not to go because I didn't want to leave her overnight if she was unhappy, so DP went off to the wedding on his own on the train, and I drove over to spend the night at my Dad's place rather than sit at home on my own, since he was going to have been babysitting anyway. I was sick as a pig to be missing out! And then the little tyke perked RIGHT up. Started giggling and zooming round the kitchen on her walker chasing the dogs. So my dad and stepmum persuaded me to go after all. I missed the ceremony but caught DP up for the evening reception and we got our dirty weekend away in a nice hotel after all. I cannot tell you how nice it was to have some time away, I'm so grateful. First time since Jo has been born that I have been able to wake up and just lie there coming round gradually rather than get out of bed to deal with a crying baby. Absolute heaven. The eating, boozing and shagging were pretty good too :o And it turns out Jo was fine in the end. She went down like an angel and slept straight through the night to wake up at 8am Shock Shock. She never does that for me! So I'm double glad I went as I'd have been really gutted to miss then. Babies are resilient little buggers.

DairyBeetle · 22/05/2012 16:44

Shhh! I'm not really here >looks around in case boss is in the office<

Phew! Well, by sneaking in some MN while at work I've managed to catch up with what I've missed recently. Hopefully all those who've had D&V/coughs/colds/general sickness have now recovered! My fingers are crossed that today's lovely sunshine means that the winter bugs are on their way out and we can remember what it's like to be healthy!

ecuse you're weekend away sounds wonderful appart from the doctors trip at the start. You've given me hope that all will be well when DH and I go to a wedding in August. S is staying with our parents...we just haven't decided which: my parents have much more recent/hands on child rearing experience but their house is chaotic to say the least. IL's adore S and we usually stay with them so S knows the house but they are much less hands on and less used to sole responsibility for babies.

We moved S into a forward facing car seat last month and it was the first time he didn't get adgitated/sick in the car so I'm now working on the assumption that he get's travel sick when rearfacing. Since then I've noticed that he does get a bit green around the gills when we have to sit on the readfacing seats on the bus too.

Potties! I'm planning to get one this weekend as, now we seem to be headed for some warmer weather, I'm going to see if we can start using a potty at least for poos. I would have like to have tried EC but I'm not sure how that would work on nursery/work days at the moment so am going to go for a more 'introducing the potty'/extra nappy free time approach.

Anyway, as quick general update: S now has 7 teeth, his current favourite thing is to use the clothes airer as a walker (but no independant walking), nights range from the appaling (in our bed all night or not settling, at all, till gone 10, middle of the night extended wake ups) to the comparatively amazing (three wake ups, not in out bed till 2am-ish) but S has started self settling at bed time; by pulling off the boob, launching himself at the cot then clinging onto the rails till I put him in Hmm, sippy cups and bottles are now refused in favour of straws and tantrums are expected if he can't press the button at the crossing or the bell on the bus! Ah, fun times.

Ok, that's an epic looking post, even for me so I best get on and do some work for the last 15 mins.

Have a lovely evening all, here's hoping we all get to sit in the sun with a Wine this evening!

GlaikitFizzog · 22/05/2012 22:20

anyone going about? friends ds has just been taken to hospital with suspected measles. we were with them yesterday. what should I do? keep him away from cm?

girl I work with is pg too. should I stay away from.her

Starshaped · 22/05/2012 23:29

Cripes, no idea Fizz - maybe give your GP a ring tomorrow for some advice? Hope your friend's little boy is ok though.

Re: the IPad - get on the logo app we've mentioned. Tis addictive I promise!

I had another super proud spot yesterday. I take your Unilever ILike and raise you Tata. I'd never heard of them and have no idea what they do but drove past a factory of theirs earlier in the week and thought the logo on the sign looked familiar. DH is getting a bit peed off with the amount of time i'm spending on the game BlushGrin

ecuse · 23/05/2012 19:58

I dunno, all these teeth going round. Poor old Jo's still only got the four, she hasn't had a new one since Feb. Nice to see you back, Dairy and hooray for the Ipad fizz. No idea about measles though. I agree - GP or nhs direct should be able to help.

GlaikitFizzogaraptor · 23/05/2012 20:06

False alarm about the measles. Was a post viral rash. However we have just been up to oohs because b has had a reaction to something and his eye were all swollen. Cm called me at work to ask if she could give him piriton and could I go get him because she was worried.

By the time we got to the hospital all he had to show was little red eyes. All swelling gone. But doc noticed a tiny spot on his chest she thinks looks like an insect bite and the likely culprit of the itchy eyes! Never a dull moment eh??

MrsWajs · 23/05/2012 20:51

Ooooooh star which one is tata???? I don't have it nor do I know what it looks like? I spotted unilever on the paper towels at work ILTMI Grin
You should totally get the app Fizz :)

Glad the measles situation wasn't Fizz I thought R had it once, despite my friend (a childrens nurse) telling me more than once that it would be a viral rash!! Took her to the docs and that's exactly what it was Blush slight paranoia me thinks.

Ecuse Your night away sounds divine! R also only has 4 teeth too and the 4th only just cut yesterday!!

I'm glad you've voiced your plan for the potty dairy as I was thinking about trying something similar but didn't want to sound like a nutter! It's glaringly obvious when R does a poo as she does this face Blush and grunts a lot so I'm pretty sure we'd catch the majority of them! Might get it out and see what she makes of it.

MrsWajs · 23/05/2012 20:52

Sorry frak maybe should clarify, I don't think you're a nutter for doing EC!

GlaikitFizzogaraptor · 23/05/2012 21:01

What is ec?

What is the logo app called? I've down loaded a couple but I don't think they are the ones you are talking about.

Frakiosaurus · 24/05/2012 07:07

It's elimination communication. The idea is that children are continent from birth and know when they need to go to the toilet but we train them to use nappies and then train them out of it which means they lose awareness of their bladder/bowel functions and need to regaining later. EC means parents recognise toilet cues on the same way they recognise sleepy cues or hunger cues and pop thé child on the potty so child learns that's where you do your business! It does make sense but it's quite labour intensive and I don't really have the time or courage to go fully nappy free. When we started we had to follow him like a hawk watching his every move....that lasted about 2 days.

MrsWajs · 24/05/2012 10:46

Why is everyone a dinosaur?

The app is called logo quiz Fizz well that's the one I have anyway but am sure it's the same one as Star and ILTMI

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/05/2012 11:07

Yes, why is everyone a dinosaur? ds would approve!

Yep, the app I use is called Logo Quiz and it is free.

We are all loving the weather. ds's have been playing beautifully together out in the garden, although poor old Baby I had his first 'swing seat in the face' incident - the first of many no doubt!

The water table he received for his birthday has also been a complete hit. It's in a shady part of the garden and he stands at it splashing around for ages.

Oh, and he has finally decided that he can walk Grin He has been cruising for bloody ages and then this week he finally had the confidence to do it Smile

Where is NBG ?

Starshaped · 24/05/2012 12:38

The Tata logo is on level 7. It's a blue circle with a White 'T' in it. I'm still non the wiser who or what they are though!

NBG has namechanged ILike. She's back to being MrsW I believe Smile

EC sounds like hard work! Not sure that nursery would be too pleased if I decided to go down that route. Potty training seems so random though. My mum says that I was out of nappies by about 18 months but that my sister nearly went to school in them (v young for her year) despite her using an identical approach for us both Confused

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/05/2012 12:54

Ha ha, of course Blush, what a dip shit I am! I have actually made myself chuckle over my own stupidity Grin

Tata are an Indian car manufacturer who bought Land Rover and Jaguar (I think)

Kittycatcat · 24/05/2012 15:37

Lol I was thinking Tara was a crisp but that's tato isn't it? Just as well I'm not playing. My I game of choice is fashion story. I've built up quite a shop. Hubby hates it.

How hot is it Grin. Finding s hard work in the garden. He wants to put flowers, grass, dirt and gravel in his mouth.
