Ohhh Kitty, are they those booootiful oval wooden cots?

Kittycatcat · 26/04/2012 14:43

nods excitedly most chuffed. Have always liked them but they are stupidly expensive new.

JKSLtd · 26/04/2012 14:47

Kitty - have also drooled over them in the past, lucky you :)

Happy Birthday to Emily today :)

PUt DD in bed for an attempt at a later nap as she hardly slept earlier - really wish she would sleep the amount she needs rather than a quick kip, then have the major grumps later on. Feel Mother Nature should have this sorted by now Grin

This time last year I had just lost my argument about delaying induction and was having gel put up my chuff :D Can't believe my little girl is 1 tomorrow ! Although I am absolutely loving this age, she is so sweet and funny and learning so quickly.

No self settling here either. She falls asleep in my lap after her last bottle. Sometimes (like now) takes 10 or 15 mins after she's finished but I quite like the cuddles. I bring her into bed with us if she wakes in the night and won't go back to sleep after a quick cuddle. Although she's sleeping through perhaps 70% of the time now. I used to hate co-sleeping as was terrified of squashing her and so had to sleep on my side curling my arms and legs round her to stop me rolling onto her in my sleep. Which mainly worked by keeping me awake cause I hate sleeping on my side anyway and it was agony for my carpal tunnel hands. But now I've had cortisone injections so my hands aren't as numb and I'm less worried about squashing her (think she'd just give me a good kick and a yell these days) so I am comfortable enough to roll over onto my tummy facing away from her which is my preferred sleeping position. So I've come to quite love cosleeping and all the nice sleepy morning snuggles.

Birthhippy9 · 26/04/2012 23:47

Brew s all round.

Popping in to say Happy Birthday Aprilite Bairns :)

Some nice news from me: R started walking this week which we are all thrilled about, DH became Catholic and DH starts a new and light years better job on Monday. My Dad looks like he will be ok with some treatment too :D

I'm privately so clucky that I'm choking back tears when I see newborns but completely knackered so it's a good idea for that plan to be put on ice for a bit

Kittycatcat · 27/04/2012 07:54

That is all lovely news arch. Congrats all round Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/04/2012 08:08

Arch that is brilliant news! Especially about your Dad and the job, because lack of stress on those fronts mean you can enjoy all the other stuff even more!

Happy Birthday Baby I Grin

ILike I will not bring our handbags over Will.I.Am over here Wink

kitty - I too coveted that cot when we were choosing for DS1. Envy

T won't self settle either, or hardly ever. He sometimes settles back to sleep if he wakes up when he is napping, but really not often. It is either boob, or a cuddle from Daddy (or Grandpa!) that will get him off to sleep.
We are moving the boys into the other big bedroom to share next weekend - room is decorated, carpet coming Wednesday, me trying to sit on my hands and not order ££s of lovely storage/shelving from GLTC! We are hoping that the shift in sleeping location, and being in the big cot are going to improve matters. He also does that arching thing as soon as we try and put him back in bed after a night-feed. He is very snuggly though, he likes to sleep with his back up against my chest and tummy :) :)

GlaikitFizzog · 27/04/2012 08:13

Arch fantastic news all round there. (((hugs))) It's about time you had something to get excited about. Thanks for you

I think B might take his first steps very soon. He's walking along with us only holding one hand. If we could coincide walkign with our visit up the road this weekend my mum and dad would be thrilled.

Epic fail on the birthday cake making here, so I'm off to Sainsburys to get one. DH is enjoying eating the mistake tough Wink

This time last year I was about to be induced for all the good that did

Better go, need to pack and we are planning on leaving at 10. Ooops!

Starshaped · 27/04/2012 13:29

Fab news all round Arch Smile

Happy birthday baby I!

P is walking now too. It's very cute- she wobbles off for a bit and then realises what she's doing and plonks herself down again Grin

I'm intrigued by the Will.i.am handbags Ali. I rather like him on The Voice, so not sure whose side that puts me on!

Lovely choice of cot kitty. I like it a lot!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2012 08:58

Well Ali, it looks like we may have to fight star for Will.I.am as well . saying that, the silver sequinned loafers leave something to be desired. They may be fashion forward, but they still looked shit to me Grin

Baby I spent his birthday with just dh and I, I think he liked having us both to himself. Saturday we had my family round and yesterday we had dh's family round. The house isn't big enough for everyone so we had to do two separate parties. Consequently I am knackered and I have had enough of hosting! I think the boys and I will have a quiet one today. Maybe a walk along the stream if I can arsed with the wellies, coats, waterproofs malarky.

Yesterday Dh's m&d were 45 minutes late and his b&sil were over an hour late - they both live 5 minutes away Confused Dh was fuming and I was pissed off, however I used the frustration to do a good run last night, even though I had an evil stitch because of too much birthday cake Blush

Baby I loves his Aquadraw, however he doesn't draw, he sucks the pens dry Hmm We also have an impressive amount of Happylands stuff. Ds2 thinks it is great!

We have booked to see Walking with Dinosaurs at the O2 after Christmas. We are taking M and my niece and nephew, and baby I will spend the day with his Aunt and Uncle. I am v excited, but will have to keep it secret from M for months. Paying for the tickets brought a tear to my eye though, I think they may be dh's and mine Christmas present to each other!

Still no real walking here. He has taken an unaided step when he his letting go of one piece of furniture to get to another, but that's about it. He is a bit of a climber though, which is giving me palpitations.

Sorry for the essay Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 30/04/2012 20:28

Phew, no one told me hosting a birthday party was so stressful! We've had a lovely day following a lovely weekend! We need another room for all the stuff he's got! The wooden activity cube has gone down a storm! Thank you whoever linked to it on the other thread! Its been ages since all my AN chums and babies were together and I was really surprised to see how mobile B is compared to the rest of them. They all sat in one place and played with one toy as B dashed from kitchen to living room to hall picking up and dropping a different toy as he whizzed by! No wonder I'm exhausted, my baby runs on rocket fuel :o!

ILike, Star and Ali While you all scrap it out for Bill.Be.Me I think I'll run of with the Oirish rogue Danny off of The Script!

DH is watching the football from behind the sofa and B is still running about as he had a nap at 5 when everyone left. Even with all the new toys he's got he is still obsessed by the springy door stop! We could have saved a fortune!!

JKSLtd · 01/05/2012 13:26

Phew Fizz, I'm tired just reading about it! M is in between, she can be really chilled - in fact most people think she is always like that.
But when it's just me & her, she can be v demanding & active - without the capability IYKWIM.
She can now walk a few (wobbly) steps between us but still no crawling/rolling/getting to sitting/pulling herself up on furniture.
She's got it all wrong Grin

Happy 1st Birthday to all those I missed :)

Happy 1st Birthday today to your DD Arch Grin

Just 2 left!

Three left - DD isn't 1 until the weekend either! I think she's the second youngest Aprilite.

I've never got round to adding the details to the list. Not that I'm lazy or anything...Blush

JKSLtd · 01/05/2012 14:39

Oops sorry Star!

3 left :)

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 01/05/2012 23:25

I've been lurking, so firstly Happy Birthday to all those since I last posted.

P celebrated her 13 month birthday today. This afternoon I was gossiping having a quick chat out in the clos with my next door neightbour who was doing a spot of gardening and kindly keeping an eye on our DS's playing. I heard P cry so rushed back inside to find her standing up on her own for the first timeShock holding onto the stairgate in the hallway.

She's also worked out stair climbing and likes to make her own way up the stairs at bathtime. Yesterday, I walked into the lounge to find her giggling away as she had managed to clamber up onto DS trampoline and she was happily bouncing up and down on her bottom. Grin

Kittycatcat · 02/05/2012 16:32

Awh lovely image gys

Happy Birthday April May Babies :)

DH pulled out on a car at a fast / busy roundabout his morning thus resulting into her slamming into the drivers door so i have been a mess most of today. We were all in the car but none of us were hurt luckily. S was fine. I spent most of the morning willing kitten to move!!

ecuse · 02/05/2012 17:17

God, how scary, kitty. Assume kitten had been moving? Thank goodness they're so well cushioned in there.
J has another virus atm. Fever, sore throat, earache. Poor little tyke. Since mod february we have now had chicken pox, three vomiting bugs, croup and now this. Thats a lot of ill in three months! The doctor says it's nothing to worry about - just her ahe, and it coincided eith the time she's been going to the cm and to drop in playgroups etc and properly mixing with other kids. Building up her immunity, I guess, but it's bloody hard work not very nice for her.

Kittycatcat · 02/05/2012 18:18

Poor j and poor you. That's pants. Think I've felt kitten. Will see how tonight is and call the midwife tom of I'm worried

JKSLtd · 02/05/2012 19:50

Kitty - that is scary! Hope kitten is fine.

Ecuse - that is crap, for both of you. Hopefully a clear stretch is ahead of you.

Last few days I've only fed DD twice, once morning/mid-morning & then at bedtime.
Wondering if she is self-weaning already or is it just that we've been busy.
Also (should know this) what kind of amounts of milk should i be offering her? I've offered cow's milk in a beaker once but no real interest. She eats loads of cheese & yoghurt so does get lots of dairy. Should I be pushing the milk drinking? Can't remember what the boys did Blush

chillikat · 02/05/2012 21:50

I'm worrying about the milk thing too JKS. I feed first thing, then when I pick her up at lunchtime, and at bedtime. There may be occasional extras too. They're meant to get about a pint a day, though difficult to measure with BF. My M doesn't like cows milk either - she lets it dribble out of her mouth. She doesn't seem to eat much cheese but yoghurt is a hit.

Kitty, hope all is well and you're over the shock.

ecuse hope that's it for J for a while.

M had her injections this afternoon :( after they were postponed last week due to her recent ear infection. She seems fine thus far (currently fast asleep) and nursery will give her calpol if necessary tomorrow. That's it now until 3 yrs 4 months.

I've been going round in circles on the phone with Tesco Direct tonight - M got a laptop toy for her birthday which has stopped working properly (maybe due to over use as she loves it). It's a Tesco product and can only be bought via Tesco direct as far as I can see. However, they can't replace it without having an order number, which I haven't got as it was a present... I can't see that this would have been an issue in a 'normal' shop with an own brand product.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/05/2012 08:25

Hope all is ok Kitty Smile Also hope you feel a little better about the accident.

Chilli - if you have no luck with Tesco Direct, take it to a Tesco store and don't let on that it was bought from TD. Might be worth a try.

baby I has about 4 breastfeeds in 24 hours. Some days the feeds are long, some days they are short, and if we are out and about they are often forgotten. I don't offer cows milk as a drink and I wouldn't if he were to stop bf'ing tomorrow. I believe he pretty much gets everything he needs via solid foods, he has a capacious appetite and he drinks a lot of water too.

The weather is shite here today, vertical rain and I've got the pre school drop off Hmm

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/05/2012 11:14

kitty - hope all is ok

ecuse - poor J :( It is such hard work when they are poorly at this age, but it does get easier. DS1 now just wants to curl up and have warm drinks when he is poorly.

T has morning, bedtime, a variable number during the night (increasingly just one, hurrah) and then sometimes a couple during the day. I do use feeding to sleep as a tool to get him to nap if he won't settle.
He has a beaker of cow's milk in the afternoons.

Cyclebump · 03/05/2012 12:55

Hi guys, I've written a couple of long posts that have been lost to glitches, but hello all!

Hope you're ok Kitty, scary!

Kittycatcat · 03/05/2012 19:05

Hi all

I'm feeling much better thanks.

Does anyone else's lo's bang their head on things or things on their heads?

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 03/05/2012 19:30

Hi Kitty,

F is a headbanger. Usually when he's tired, but sometimes he'll look like he's testing whatever he's banging, or our response.

At night, I have to pull him back down the cot once he's asleep or he'd bump his head all night.

Apparently my mum was really bad for head banging!
