UBW snap! DSs first and pretty much only clearly identifiable word at the moment is "hallo!!!!!" accompanied by frantic waving (which for him is opening and closing his fist very fast) and his target is EVERYONE he claps his eyes on. It is unbearably cute and extremely embarrassing all at the same time, especially in the street or park as I am naturally a shy retirer.....but most people respond so nicely, I'm glad he is so friendly really. :)

Hope everyone's illnesses pass quickly, DP off work with d&v today, so hoping it was his canteen sandwich........

Sorry JoEW, not your reflux pal, another April Daisy!

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 31/07/2012 22:48

Welcome back Daisy, although I,ve not been that great at posting lately either. Havn't been up to anything terribly exciting but have Become a bit addicted to doing Facebook scrabble on the Ipad. Blush

P is 16 months today and decided to take her first unaided steps yesterday. Grin. I missed the first step as had my back turned but saw the next couple. She was standing playing, leaning on a kitchen chair and decided to walk up to DH who had just come in from work. She hasn't done anymore today though.

I agree that it's lovely now they can play and interact more with their older siblings. P's favourite game is crawling/bouncing on our bed with DS, closely followed by seeing who can blow the most raspberries on their DM. DS has also taught her to nod her head very enthuastically if you ask her if she wants a biscuit.

JKSLtd · 01/08/2012 20:17

As of Monday, DD has been walking!! Grin

She just upped and went all of a sudden. Think she was waiting until she could really do it to avoid lots of falling over :)

She's very pleased with herself!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 01/08/2012 20:49

Woop! For walking babies Gsy & JKS!

(I've decided that while F is still so physically little (25th%) he's still a 'baby', and not a proper 'toddler' yet!)

Starshaped · 01/08/2012 22:12

Hooray for walking!

I still think P is a baby too, despite the fact she legs round everywhere at breakneck speed. I've now decided she won't be a toddler until she's talking Blush

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/08/2012 08:38

Awww, I know what you mean about the baby to toddler transition. I obviously isn't a baby but I don't think of him as a toddler either

I seems to becoming more communicative this past week. He nods his head for yes, says 'door' (random), and try's to say welly (his footwear of choice). He still doesn't say his brothers name though Hmm

I just saw an ante natal thread for April 2013 Grin

JKSLtd · 02/08/2012 14:52

DD won't say either brother's name yet, lots of Daddy, Mummy, cat, duck, attempts at biscuit, etc Grin

Starshaped · 02/08/2012 18:44

No mummy here Envy. Lots of no though Hmm

JKSLtd · 02/08/2012 19:36

Rabbit too, and 'Pays' (spelling still under debate) - DS1's cuddly monkey, as named by him years ago. So funny how they prioritise words, really would've expected the boys names by now.

ecuse · 02/08/2012 20:20

We have hello and byebye here, both accompanied by frantic waving at as well as all gone and OH - mostly said in a surprised voice when she falls over. We were staying with the grandparents last week and she fell in love with a lifesized porcelain dog statue ([skeptical]) and started calling him woof ("oof"). Then when we saw sheep in the field next day she called oof at them, too.

I think of her as a toddler now. Not only does she toddle, more importantly she wears her hair in bunches. Pretty definitive. Her hair is nutso!

Now. Shoes. She has my silly wide feet so it'll have to be width fitted ones. I'm semi seriously boycotting Clarks because their in-store marketing pissed me off so I don't want to give them my money. Startrite are so boring. Anywhere else good?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/08/2012 20:28

Jones the Bootmaker always have a good range. Keep an eye out for an Independant shoe shop, they tend to stock the best brands IMO. I has wide feet as well, so I think we're going to have ishoos with shoes for him.

I'm not a Clarks or Startrite fan either. Kickers, Hush Puppy and Geox have been some of my favourites.

If I had a girl they would HAVE to have bunches and plaits Grin. But that ain't gonna ever happen, so I will have to make do with short back and sides Grin

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 02/08/2012 21:44

We've got lots of words here (well, not clearly pronounced, but we know what he means), which does help his tendency to freak out tantrum. And since he's little and did everything else late, we'll go for the sentence badge: how many words count? He can string "more milk/biscuit please" together (priorities clear!)

He also says "Daddy", but no mummy Sad (although he can name the cat Envy).

Regarding shoes: we've got a local "pop up" shoe stall lady who is in the pannier market in the next town over. Does this kind of thing exist outside The Sticks?

MrsWajs · 02/08/2012 22:17

We have lots of words here too, mummy, daddy, attempts at her brothers name but they're dubious! Dog/oof, moo, baa, duck/quack, squeak, ee-aww, miaow - we're big on animal noises!! Her favourite song is old macdonald and she regularly bursts into a rendition of ee-i-ee-i-oh! She can also name some of the things in her word books including tractor and wheelbarrow! We've had a couple of 2 word sentences too but it's not consistent.

I'm hoping her intelligence is making up for her lack of physical ability as she still isn't walking!! We had a few unaided steps about 3 weeks ago and the occasional few since but nothing you could actually call proper walking, think she might be taking a leaf out of M's book JKS and waiting til she can do it properly.

No bunches here either as she is also still practically bald!

ecuse · 03/08/2012 09:24

Oh, how could I forget? We also have "NO!". Her favourite word in all the world. Usually accompanied by emphatic hand swiping.

Check these bunches, ladies. I am quite proud of them!

UBW - what in the world is a pannier market? Safe to say we don't have those things in the big smoke. We do have a trendy indie shoe shop, and I took her there last week to get fitted but I don't think the shop assistant measured her feet properly. She didn't measure for width and didn't even check how the shoes fitted for width until I pushed her to, then she just prodded her little toe and said they feel OK. I've suffered from painful ill-fitting shoes all my life (stupid broad, deep feet) and I'm determined that Jo will not! Also, all the shoes were ugly. Why are they such insipid pink and purple colours??? Why can't I just get a nice bright unisex pair of shoes? Or even a nice shiny black patent pair? I quite liked the teeny Campers, mind you. We might end up plumping for them if we can't find anywhere better. I have no objection to buying her cheapy shoes from shoe zone if they FIT, but I don't think they will. Despite being broad, her feet are TINY - about a two and a half - so the range is even more limited. Is there any drawback to keeping her in canvas/leather baby shoes for a while? Do I have to get her proper shoes yet?

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 03/08/2012 10:28

Pannnier markets are big indoor markets with everything from posh local veg or hippy crafty stuff to dodgy/questionable stuff and second hand junk. They're everywhere here!

I went to spitalfields (sp?) market once, they're several a few notches down from that, I suppose! With a lot more WI!

Soft shoes should be ok, I would think, but they'll wear out quicker. And F went from size 2 to 4 overnight.

And F's got a comb-over with long bits on top and at the back. He looks silly in the wind.

ecuse · 03/08/2012 11:31

Soft canvas shoes it is then. I don't mind them wearing out as they're only a few quid a pair. I'll get her some proper shoes when her feet are a bit bigger or when we happen across a decent shoe shop. I don't think canvas ones are rigid enough to damage her little feet.

I would go to Stratford Westfield or the West End to go to proper shoe shops but it is all Olympics crazy at the moment and I can't face it.

Kittycatcat · 03/08/2012 11:51

Loving the bunches. S needs a haircut.

We have lots of words. Mummy, daaa (daddy), pees (please), no, yesh!, ball, door, cat, he meows, hmmm what else. Can't think. Oh bus, and we also have 'oh', bear, lots of grunting going on too tho. And I'd a word ends in p like up or cup you just get the pp.

Glad I chose to finish work early and avoid the Olympics. The central lines gone down twice in the mornings. And I'm tired now too. Sleeping when s does.

TeamGlaikitBritain · 03/08/2012 12:34

We have da a lot. Everyone is da. We even point at ourselves and say mummy daddy, blair. But he just says da! Other than that he just likes to squeal Hmm

He escaped from me this morning without a nappy on. Ran through to the living room and hid behind the curtain. Cute you think?? Nope he was pooping Shock. So curtains are down and been sponged but I'm goi g to have to get them dry cleaned.

I have so much to do I should t be here. It's my choirs first performance this weekend. 2 shows for the works summer event. Adult only tomorrow night and a family day on Sunday. Mum and dad are down so I have to clean my oven Wink. They really wound frown at poo behind the curtains!

ecuse · 03/08/2012 13:12

Kitty I'm not surprised you're tired - you're getting close now. So exciting. So, tell us, are you cheating on us with another antenatal thread?! Wink

Fizz - no? Pooing behind the curtain? Ew! I've had no random poo yet, but lots of escaping with bare bum and doing a secret widdle. Also she always has a widdle in the bath as soon as you put her in, whilst standing up, before she has her first sit down. It's like her little ritual. Never whilst I'm carrying her naked into the bathroom, fortunately, but the very second I pop her in the bath. Without fail.

ecuse · 03/08/2012 13:12

PS - Kitty thought your bump pics came out lovely. You look very serene!

JoEW · 03/08/2012 13:15

BUNCHES!! How cute are they?!

I gave C a 'haircut' a couple of weeks ago, as his fringe was in his eyes and there was a mullet forming. It was three quick swipes with the scissors but it's made him look really grown up.

Ew to curtain poo, you must have been thrilled!

We went to John Lewis for shoes, we got Clarks so I'm not sure what else they have. C sat so nicely on my lap having his feet measured, it slayed me. He has his father's feet, affectionately known as 'paddy lion feet', 4G.

We've had a few little steps here but mainly he will crawl, as it's much quicker. Likes to wear the new shoes on his hands when crawling Confused.

No real words here yet, though he'll say uh-oh when he drops something and bo for anything in the sky, oh and ga is thank you, I think. We've had a referral to a speech and language therapist, via his neonatal outpatient care, but I think he's probably just behind, he is with everything but he gets there.

UWB F sounds too cute!

Kitty, not long to go now, hope you're feeling ok. Very good plan to avoid travelling.

We went to the rowing on Wednesday and saw the first GB gold, it was superb.

JoEW · 03/08/2012 13:18

PS pics are beautiful Kitty and where did you get that trainset? x

Starshaped · 03/08/2012 13:46

We have also had a random nappy free poo incident. I went into her bedroom and found her staring at it on the carpet. She looked most pleased. I on the other hand was less pleased about cleaning it up!

Kittycatcat · 03/08/2012 13:47

We to pooey curtains fizz

No ecuse. I had a go on a sept thread but I didn't gel with them, and you ladies have been and are fab so I don't need anyone else Grin. And thanks re pics.

jo how cool to see GB win a gold. And thanks also. My dm bought s the train set for his 1st birthday. It's an elc happy land one and the train goes automatically with the driver in it. He enjoys dismantling it most Grin

Kittycatcat · 03/08/2012 13:47

Er ew not we
