Today there will be cheese on toast, for the lovely Marion at the gorgeous cafe near school is making it for me:o

Toddlers then a mission for tracksuit bottomy things for my eldest. She's off to camp this weekend and jeans are A Bad Idea(tm) when the weather is like this >_<

Hope everyone has something a little bit fun planned amongst all the stuff-to-do of the day:)

Minimopsy has neither sat up nor rolled nor shown interest in either and she hates tummy time. I don't remember to do it often either - is that really bad?

Figgygal · 01/05/2012 09:15

Am sure lots of you have similar tales so off to catch up but DS (hereafter called demon child) was up at 11, 1 and then 4 last night and refused to go to sleep without food at each with the 4am stop not finishing until 5.30. He is evil I tell you Grin. His room was utter carnage this morning empty bottles strewn everywhere. Hope it's a growth spurt as that's 3 nights in a row now he's been up. Definitely need to start feeding him we've just been playing with new tastes so far but it'll be roast dinners next.

LittleMissFlustered · 01/05/2012 09:16

Is she happy? Yes? Job done:o

No point guilt tripping yourself over random advice like that. The day you feed her a quarter of a pint of gin by accident is te day to get the guilt rags out:)

Oh and he slept through from 8 weeks to about 15 weeks every night and since then definite change which makes it harder as we'd been spoiled.

He not showing interest in rolling really but can sit very briefly if we sit him right.

Think today is DVD day as its raining again might venture to asda baby event too.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/05/2012 09:29

My funky giraffe bib order has arrived :) and my new quilted jacket has too

Sky has her swimming lesson and Baby Sensory afterwards then home in the warm to attempt bake a Sweet potato & Choc cake for tomorrow.

Sky has rolled twice and not done it since. Is very interested in sitting upright but not got enough core strength to do it herself yet.

Weaning she currently is trying Broccoli & cauliflower for lunch time and then fruity porridge for teatime.

OiMissus · 01/05/2012 09:34

is the potato and the chocolate in the same cake. please let the answer be no. For it is wrong to try and make chocolate healthy with the introduction of vegetables, even starchy sweet ones. Although I will allow for fruit and chocolate... dipped strawberries=right. Potato=wrong. Surely?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/05/2012 09:37

Oi Yes it is in the same cake!

HoneyLovesCake · 01/05/2012 09:46

I'm guessing the idea is for the sweet potato to sweeten the cake instead of sugar? I'm trying a cake from the BLW cookbook today, no sugar but it's sweetened with dates, carrot, coconut etc If the chocolate cake turns out nice could you post the recipe dsm?

I'm going to a wedding in Portsmouth this month & popping in to see my friend in Hampshire on the way back, she's the one who had twins in February. Already sent them a present but I wanted to get them a little something as it's the first time I'm seeing them. I was thinking a couple of dribble bibs each (good excuse to buy more for DS) & a couple of board books...anyone got any recommendations/favourites?

GeeandTee · 01/05/2012 10:11

I am scared it was a one off and DD will go back to waking every hour!

I'd be interested in the sweet potato chocolate cake recipe if it works dsm ! You can also make brownies using prunes instead of sugar but have never tried it.

HLC popular board books are the hungry caterpillar one and "DEar Zoo", can't remember who wrote it, Rob something I think.

Rashkakeller · 01/05/2012 10:16

Haha, yes Oi, that would be the correct way of working out 6 months in weeks. I was, of course, testing you and you have been awarded an A+ (didn't have A* in my day).

Mopsy, I forget to do tummy time with ds too. If he's not upright by 5 years old, I'll put more effort in! I think they develop their neck and core muscles with just sitting up etc anyway.

Sweet potato and chocolate, that's a new one to me and I've tried a LOT of chocolate! I'd be scared of wasting said chocolate!

Figgy, that's the worse when you've had no night feeds then suddenly they start waking up. Ds did that to me and has just started to sleep through again. Hopefully just a growth spurt then you can get back to normal!

Ds is currently shouting and gurgling on the floor - his favourite place. Very happy chappy! Im clock watching as can't get dressed until the last possible moment because I can't pee once I have my cossie on haha

hawthers · 01/05/2012 10:19

Well I managed to get DS1 to nursery and then f and I battled through hideous south london traffic to drop the car off to get fixed. Now holed up drinking a massive latte and eating a croissant but feeling very very light headed am so tired. F woke at 11, 2, 3 - 5 and 6. Mr h continues being a reformed character and was up with me in the night to help bless him.

Off to lovely mil's for a week next week so will get a proper break and there will be a million and one cousins to occupy DS1 plus plenty of aunts and uncles who need a bit of f action so I can get some extra sleep. Just got to get through the 5 hour drive to get there....

YBR · 01/05/2012 10:25

Rash 6 months is 26 weeks, but I'm counting in months now; the HV can figure out weeks for herself.

Bee BabyYBR doesn't sit up unsupported either at 23 weeks, she's working on in though.

mopsy my SIL was told to do more tummy time with her LO because he couldn't sit unaided at (I think) abt 8 months. You could try putting an interesting toy in front of your LO ? that seems to extend the time our LO is happy on her front. We also hold/carry her facing down (like flying) or put her tummy-to-tummy on us when leaning back on the sofa which our LO doesn't seem react to the same way, but surely helps strengthen some of the same muscles.

The grissly one had (for us) a bad night last night. Yawn. Making up for the the last couple I think. More chocolate required here!

HoneyLovesCake · 01/05/2012 10:29

Thanks Gee I love Eric Carle but I thought it's such a classic she might already have it (don't want to ask as I don't want her to feel obligated to buy DS something) maybe I should go for one of his other ones? The Very Busy Spider or The Bad Tempered Ladybird...love that title :)

Another question; about bras...I need a new one to wear with the dress I'm wearing to the wedding but when do I measure myself? When my boobs are full or when they've recently been emptied Confused Or when one's full & one's empty to get an average size Grin

So annoying, I've worn the same dress to the last 2 weddings (with no shame - I LOVE it) but I've never had to wear a bra with it before!

Feel like I've got loads to do but my brain's all over the place..off to write a list!

KateM77 · 01/05/2012 11:06

Rash DS is also 20 weeks on Fri and showing no interest in rolling. Mopsy I'm also rubbish at remembering to do tummy time, but I was the same with DD and she was sitting up on her own by 6 months. DS is desperate to sit up. He must be developing very strong abs because he constantly lifts up his head and legs when lying on his back.

DS treated me by sleeping 8-5.30 last night Shock This was after a few nights of waking at around midnight for a feed, and just like Gee I've done nothing different, just BF on demand and haven't started weaning yet.

Got him weighed this morning and he's now 17lb 15oz. No wonder we had to move him into 6-9 month clothes a couple of weeks ago! As I suspected though, he's dropped down the percentiles a bit from 91st to between 75th and 91st. This is because he's so distracted when we do feeds in public (which are now almost a non-event) or when DD is around. I think I'll start introducing formula in a couple of weeks anyway (as I did for DD) but this is giving me the impetus because I know he's hungry but is just more interested in seeing the world around him than feeding and Mummy refuses to sit there with her boobs hanging out in public

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/05/2012 11:10

I'm happy to post the recipe later Smile

KateM77 · 01/05/2012 12:13

Oh, I meant to say earlier I haven't noticed MsB on here for a while. Hope all is OK

GeeandTee · 01/05/2012 13:36

I was thinking that too Kate.

MissRee · 01/05/2012 14:39

Did MsB go on hols or am I imagining things again? Grin

hawthers · 01/05/2012 15:01

finally back from epic trip to get car fixed = good. got to take it back with both DS' on thursday = bad.

however i popped into a charity shop near the car place and managed to bag f a really cute musical apple that i'd seen at our drs when the nurse did his vaccinations. there happened to be just the same one in this charity shop - i'd been searching online everywhere and couldn't find it so i'm dead chuffed! he loves it. this one

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/05/2012 15:29

Ladies, Baking question I've run out of Muscovado (sp?) Sugar, can I replace with brown sugar?

OiMissus · 01/05/2012 15:44

Why not replace it with a stem of purple broccoli?

Fnar fnar - am being very facetious and you can swing a sweaty haddock in my direction. Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/05/2012 15:46

ha bloody ha Oi I don't happen to have one to hand either!

OiMissus · 01/05/2012 15:50

Chocolate and potatoes - whoever heard such nonsense?! (this is where the thread realises that I'm from Bolton, and launches into Peter Kay's "garlic bread" story. He he he! i am a philistine.)
yeah! An A+ for me. (A* - whoever heard such nonsense?!)

Msb is still active on facebook, so she's probably just v busy, and once you lose your place on this thread, it moves so quickly, it's tough to keep up, - and we know each other all so well now, you'd be scared of upsetting someone by not mentioning x.
But not me and my hobnail size 9's, I upset people all the time even when I'm trying to be thoughtful.

Anyone for a choccy dipped cauli floret?

mopsytop · 01/05/2012 15:51

dsm, brown sugar sd work fine, it'll just have a v slightly different taste.

This weather is depressing. But minimopsy is actually napping well today ( on nap no 3 now) which is v rare when we can't get out for a walk.
