Relate counciling.

I went with dh aftrr my breakdown/pnd and we only had one session and we left laughing and huging each other.

They help you communicate and you get homework and you have to listen to each other and make agreements. Find away forward. They really do help. Its £45 per session up to 8 sessions per couple every two weeks if needed.

Also gp can refer you to relationship counciling.

BeeMyBaby · 27/04/2012 13:58

jiggle I'd agree with your DH about that being a waste of his leave, perhaps you could get him to look after the DCs for one day at the weekend and that would mean that he could have a week of holiday another time as a whole family unit. DH generally saw any A/L I had as me being DDs main carer that day so he could sleep in extra and it really does suck sometimes. I adore my DH so I guess I put up with alot that others wouldn't, but he's the one I chose and thats it.

I'm meant to be completely rewriting correcting one of DHs cover job application letters but as I have to look after both DDs I've not had much time/concentration to do it so he says it'll me my fault when he is officially unemployed (rather than on student status). Must do it now but its soooo boring

BeeMyBaby · 27/04/2012 17:20

ooo threadkill

I will go back on topic then, for those using disposables, what size nappies are you on - 3 or 4? DD2 is about 14lb and in 3s but DNiece is about 14lb7 and in size 4s, not sure if I should up her to the bigger size at night... just a bit confused as DD1 is in size4 pullups in the daytime and can't believe a not yet 5 month old could be in the same size nappies as a 2.2yo

OiMissus · 27/04/2012 17:43

BOi is in size 3, he was 17lb 4 last Wednesday. I buy tesco superfit. I did try some Huggies Naturals (or similar) size 3, but they were too small.

MissRee · 27/04/2012 17:46

Freya is in size 3s but haven't had her weighed yet this month but I reckon she's pushing 14lb. I think it depends on shape of baby and nappy brand.

It's just hit home how dire our financial situation is. First month of half pay and we're going to have about £100 after all bills are paid. Need to bite the bullet and arrange going back to work earlier. There is absolutely no way we can afford 3 months at SMP Sad I'm devastated.

OiMissus · 27/04/2012 17:51

I hear you and share your pain. I did my expenses today... My petrol is on a co card. After 5 months of mat leave I owe almost £500. the house deposit shrinks again....
And my throat feels really tight. I'm starting with a cold. Sad

Figgygal · 27/04/2012 17:58

miss ree I'm exactly the same after the first 12weeks on full pay I've managed to steam through half my savings with now £800 on my car due to repairs and insurance. I go back to work in 8 weeks and I'll be lucky if I have any savings left. Being a tight Scotswoman I hate spending money I have saved.

Figgyboy was 18lb 15 Confused last week when weighed and he is in size 3 Tesco/boots/pampers but feel we may need to upgrade to 4s soon. Another huggies hater here the newborn nappies were brill I bought 100 size 3s they leaked every time we tried them still have loads but they too small now.

Lo had a little sleep at 10 after 4.5hrs of fussing then a longer sleep 12-2 as we were out in car and has now been fighting sleeping since 5 again, he's tired he sleeps on me but put him down and he wakes, have put him in bed with hair dryer on and sleeps until I turn it off then up again (sigh).

I bought an Ella's kitchen first taste banana sachet for him I love banana tasting things but hate the texture of bananas so had a taste yummy!!! Operation purify veg is on tomorrow oh my weekends are so exciting these days Grin

MimsyBorogroves · 27/04/2012 18:08

Sad at everyone with financial implications affecting leave. I'm in a kind of "lucky" situation in that I got made redundant in march last year, and moved across the country to a new job - as a result I only get maternity allowance. New job involved an £11,000 paycut - my wages pretty much paid DS1's nursery, my petrol plus a tiny bit of actual salary. Now I'm off on leave my employer are still paying childcare vouchers (so its effectively free money) and DS1 has his 15 free hours too, so I'm ironically better off.

DS2 is in size 3 pampers at just over 14lb. They're a good fit for his shape (long with a slim waist)

DS2 has spent today drooling, screaming and sleeping. The sheer amount of sleep he's had leads me to believe he will sleep even less than normal tonight. I think he's teething.

LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 18:25

Octoboy is 13lb 4oz and in size 3 bums. We use whatever takes my fancy in tesco, though I prefer the active fit pampers or the purple tesco ones. Huggies were on offer this week though so we have a pack of those to open next.

Finance wise, I've just 'lost' my DLA (can't face the assessment interview so have let it lapse) so I'm down over £200 a month now:(

I just bought wilkos ones - anyone tried them? Wasn't impressed with sainsbos ones!

MissRee · 27/04/2012 18:44

Aaaaand just as I wrote that last post about crappy sainsbos nappies, she exploded poo all out the sides... for the third time today Hmm

How much does teething affect poos? She's had some properly minging (and whiffy) nappies the last couple of days, has been a bit more whingy and is chomping down on anything and everything!

LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 18:47

Teeth = foul nappies.
Illness = foul nappies.
Weaning = foul nappies.

In short: babies = foul nappies >_< :o

OP posts:
MissRee · 27/04/2012 18:51

I did just tell her that if she carries on with all this pooing and puking everyone will think she's a baby Grin

BeeMyBaby · 27/04/2012 19:32

missree I would say teething nappies are not just horrid but can be really sore and cause nappy rash so if its especially raw looking afterwards...

I'm using Huggies as SIL said she really disliked Pampers and DM buys us all our nappies, so she bought all the Huggies nappies (whilst 1/2 price in January) for DD2 &DN2, but then DN2 was allergic to Huggies so SIL got DM to buy Pampers instead and returned all the size 3 so I have around 1200 size3s Huggies to get through or to await any children I may have in the future... I'm also changing DD2 (around 6times in 24hrs) so much less than I changed DD1 (around 8-10 times in 24 hrs).

LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 19:34

I'm not going to bed at the same time as the kids tonight. My body is already swearing at me.

OP posts:
LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 19:37

Bee when my middle one was teething his nappy rash was so bad he was prescribed a form of canestan to help with it:(

GeeandTee · 27/04/2012 19:45

My 2.6yo DS and 4.5month old DD are in the same size nappies! 4+. She has really chunky thighs so even the 4s leave big red rings in her legs. He has very slim hips and legs! Does seem crazy though.

BeeMyBaby · 27/04/2012 19:48

LMF I would say I was actually shocked and panicked when DD1's bottom was literally bleeding from the extreme acid poop. Not looking forward to it again. Also, Stay Strong - stay awake - stay ....

HoneyLovesCake · 27/04/2012 20:03

Is that why DS has suddenly got terrible nappy rash :( I usually swear by Burts Bees but it's not working...what's the name of that cream that's supposed to be the dogs wotsits? Metanium? Is it any good? Doesn't seem to be bothering him but it looks soooo sore :(

NorthernChinchilla · 27/04/2012 20:13

Wotcha ladies! Whoooop, 'tis Friday Grin.

I really feel for you jiggle. When it gets to that state the problem is you loose respect for them, and that's the real killer. There is nothing less attractive than someone who won't pull their weight. I think counselling is the way to go.

I'll happily offer to do a night at the weekend with DP (despite the fact that when he was at work I did all the night feeds and he got a lie in til 9), the only issue is he wants to have his night off in the other bed; I want to have it in a shared bed, but it'd have to be in LO's room as our bedroom is in the loft. Think we may have some finessing to do on the bartering...

A few haddocks needed for your DPs too hawthers and HLC, although HLC's DP wins for the best comment about it not being the same quality of sleep. You have an axe for woodcutting knocking around don't you....?

We're on size 4s Bee, but DP was 17lb two weeks ago and so will be closer to 18lbs now...everyone who sees his pic on my phone goes a bit boggle-eyed and mutters about his size! But the 4s are odd, they're 15-40lb I think, which would explain the older child being in them.

I'm so, so, sorry to hear that MissRee. It's grim when you're forced into something you don't want to do through financial pressures. Best way to look at it is that you are still looking after your DD, just in a different way, but it's crappy cold comfort I know.

Off for dinner now, doing spag carbonara [slobber emoticon]

Rashkakeller · 27/04/2012 20:25

My ds is 19 weeks, about 16lb and wears size 3 in the day and size 4 at night! My dd wore (and still does at night) size 4 as well but I think boys wee more!! Plus dd was on the 9th percentile whereas ds is hovering around the 75th percentile so that might make a difference ;)

I generally buy Asda or morrison's own but have huggies at the mo because they were on offer. Never tried Wilkos ones but Aldi are ok.

Just devoured a Chinese takeaway, nom nom...feel very full!

LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 20:37

Bee it's scary when they're blistered and bleeding, especially when it comes from nowhere:(

HLC I swore by metanium with my others, and I've a tube in ready for the bad times ahead. It sets like concrete and nothing can get through it:o

aethelfleda · 27/04/2012 21:17

Though I use reuseables most of the time for DS we use disposables on trips away (or if I run out of reuseables when out for the day due to poosplosions). It does sometimes mean DS grows out of a size mid-packet (whoops) but at Present he's in size 3s (weighs 13lb8) : having said that I suspect we'll need to go up to 4s soon for overnight. Basically if it fits comfortably and holds enough wee, keep using the smaller size if you can as you get more nappies per pack!

I use a dab of sudacrem with every reuseable change, but keep metanium in the cabinet for "proper sore" rashes (not had any yet with DS but the DDs got some corkers when teething especially with the canines. I think it's the drool that does it.

LittleMissFlustered · 27/04/2012 21:30

I've reverted to conotrane for normal nappy changes 'cause it smells like Parma violets:o

I've given up and hit my bed. I'm not used to staying up any more. Good job I'm single really, a partner would hate my anti-social sleep habits >_

No idea if you have a big tesco near you aethel, but mine us selling bamboozles at £5 a pop hidden in the clearance section:)
