Beans S had those pink doodles last summer and wore them every day and they survived absolutely fine, not trashed at all.

ZJ am happy to send you the two not-shrunk tops, PM me your address. They're certainly good for modesty, the kind with an under- layer with little slits in so I actually found it a bit tricky sometimes to direct boob towards baby but you get the hang of it :) JB I'm ok about stopping the BF ing, means I feel less tied to E now and she will settle herself a bit better at night than S did anyway.I do wonder if she's more screamy and demanding because she didn't get quite the same level of PFB full attention as S, not carried in a sling all the time etc, but maybe she's just a pain in the bum Wink

Remain as ever massively impressed by all of you who go running. My only exercise is cycling to and from work, but since the bike+kids weighs the me as me, I consider this to be decent exercise on its own...! Anything else is too much like effort.

KiwiPanda · 13/05/2012 08:12

Morning all. Have poorly baby, poor little DD2 poppet has temperature and wants constant cuddling and/or feeding which is most unlike her. She's had a temp on and off since Friday evening so I think probably should take her to doc if not better tomorrow?

KiwiPanda · 13/05/2012 18:58

Hope the silence means everyone out enjoying the sunshine. DD2 still poorly poor mite. But on the plus side I ran a 10km PB today and am delighted Grin

traceface · 13/05/2012 21:26

hello :)
kiwi well done on the running! You've definitely got the bug haven't you?! How is dd2?
JJ your cycling is definitely good exercise - I'm very impressed! I find it really hard to balance with P in the back of my bike now because she's so nosey and leans all over the place, which makes me wobble!
Indith how's ds1? Re student midwives, when I was in labour with P I was looked after by a brand newly qualified MW - it was her first ever shift - and she was fantastic! So attentive and professional and caring - and if she wasn't sure of anything she checked with another MW. She never left my side and she even sent us a card to our home address once we were home. Very lovely indeed :)
Kayz how are the aches and pains? I've no idea how to get a baby to move - are those big ball things any good?
ZJ who is FlyLady? Does your DH notice whether the house is clean or not? I think mine is fairly oblivious!
On a dc3...no thanks! Although I'd LOVE to be preggas again, I'm sure that it would not be a good thing for our family to have any more. I'm pretty much ok with that decision now.
P came home from nursery on Friday carrying 'Sam' - he belongs to nursery and gets to go home with each child, and you have to take hime around with you, taking photos and writing his diary! He has a bag with lots of clothes and pjs and bathroom bag! It's such a responsibilty Grin DH has been away this weekend and I feel like I've had 3 kids to manage! We've managed to lose one of his boots too, so I'll have to own up to that Blush On Saturday we went to the park, but it was closed when we got there due to flooding, so we drove off to another park, and that was closed too because of flooding! In the end we just went to a big green field and had a picnic and spent 3 hours making daisy chains, hiding in tree dens, running around and generally enjoying the sunny day. Lovely :)
I actually feel good about the weekend because I've been dreading it, assuming I would not cope without dh, but we've survived!
Right I must go to bed. Hope you're all ok.
Night night xxx

LadyThompson · 13/05/2012 23:47

Good to see you, Trace. Well done on the running! I am in awe at 11k. Though I have been going on training walks in the last couple of weeks - a few 5 milers and a 12 miler last Sunday. My fellow walkers walk very fast (maybe a bit too fast for it to be completely enjoyable although the scenery is gorge around here) and it's up hill and down dale (and sometimes with a buggy) and I have to say, I have loved it, and hope to keep it up! I do get what you are saying about the addictiveness of running, KP, I could get quite addicted to my country walking.

After the vomiting virus, which knocked DD2 and myself for six, both girls had the most awful conjunctivitis last week (DD2 still has it - she was virtually crying tears of custard on Friday, horrendous) so both have been grumpy. And DD1 was banned from pre-school as it's so contagious. Other than that, I have been Ebaying like billyho (boring, boring but the money is seeping in albeit in small amounts and it's nice to get rid of stuff - still have about 3,000,000 items to go but let's be positive...)

ZJ, remind me who Flylady is. I think I need some of her magic. Every day I valiantly try to tame the chaos and improve it by about 1%. And even that usually gets overturned by bedtime. It's lovely that you are contemplating another small with DD2 still so little. You seem to have coped so well with two.

I'm quite surprised you mention another Beanlet, Beans, as I thought you were stopping at two. Think you will? I am still weighing up the same old pros and cons which I will NOT trot out to you all again Grin and TOTALLY understand what you mean about disturbing the current dynamic. However, I had a lovely dream last night that I had a baby girl and we couldn't decide whether to call her Annalisa or Serena (not names that I would particularly choose in RL though both are quite nice, in fact I was called the latter for the first three days of my own life). It was definitely a dream though as I had no pain after the CS and both mine hurt like buggery for the first 48hrs Grin

DB, going back a bit - how's DS? As for pre-school thinking he might have ADHD or similar, what a load of poo. As for books - can't think of any re: hurting others but DD1 likes 'Sorry', which deals a bit with how it feels when you get angry with friends. It's quite a simple book. I like it, because let's face it, EVERYONE gets angry or annoyed with others sometimes, and that's ok, after all; and the illustrations are lovely.

Who was talking about letting kids brush their own teeth - was it Indith? Or Vag? Blimey, I wouldn't let mine brush their own. They'd have teeth like Shane McGowan within a month Grin

Oh, and Indith, how is DS1? His poor face looked so sore.

Kayz - your HV is a nutter. But you know that anyway Grin

Invis - good to see you! Gosh, a lot of babies for your fam this summer. So how is work? And what have you been reading? I am reading the new John O'Farrell, which is very light with some nice gags but somehow a bit annoying and superficial.

I have got to organise my May trip this week. Yes, still at it! Heaven knows where I am going to go that's supercheap. AND I may have to take the girls this time. (It's madness, I do know it is).

I hate not having time to post a lot. Given that I used to post much more when we were renovating the house! I do posts in my head to you all which I never manage to post. But I am just determined to get rid of the crap in my house and then maybe we can finish the frickin' place.

Jam - I meant to say, what happened with that weird woman who partly blocked you on FB but not your DH? Villages are weird. It's strange how people view you. The facts most people seem to know about me here are that I can't drive and that I have a DP who likes baking. Seriously.

Oh, blow me, it's quarter to twelve. I have missed tons of people and not got out even a fraction of what I intended to say but at least I have made a start. Oh hang on - something else, Jolly asked about school registration. I think we get a pack in Sept, to apply for entry the following Sept.

We haven't managed a London meet up. This is not good! Can we do a day one soon? It's been yonks.

RIGHT! Bed pour moi. Goodnight lovely ladies.

KiwiPanda · 14/05/2012 10:00

DD2 still poorly this morning so taking her to the doctor in a bit. Poor thing is so unlike herself, it's making me sad Sad

LadyT I was saying to a friend the other day that it's a good job no one ever pressed drugs on me as I clearly have a very addictive personality, I now think about running constantly, it's ridiculous. I got really into long walks too before I started running, I love them, but then DD2 started being rubbish at sleeping in the pushchair so I had to stop wondering around London!

Beans sorry to see over on FB that you are poorly too. Hope you feel better soon.

And Vag well done on the 5k (from FB too!). Don't look at your old Triathlon times is my advice. You didn't have the handicap of two children in those days, I suspect! Though actually I seem to be a better runner post children than before, so you never know.. Apparently there is some evidence that pregancny/childbirth can make you a better athlete! Or so DH tells me anyway.

OP posts:
McKayz · 14/05/2012 10:28

Kiwi I hope DD2 is better soon.

I've just got home after doing school run. It's a mile each way and my hips feel like they're falling apart. I'm also getting pretty strong contractions. Hopefully they're just braxton hicks so I'm going to get in the bath and see if they stop.

OwwwwSad

LadyThompson · 14/05/2012 10:58

I hope DD2 perks up, KP. Heartrending when they are ill, isn't it?

As for being addicted to running - well, I'm loving the endorphins I get from striding it out. That feeling you get after you've got your heart pumping more than usual is fab.

Oh gosh, Kayz, I hope you feel better. I have never had a Braxton Hicks.

KiwiPanda · 14/05/2012 11:40

She's got tonsillitis poor little thing Sad

Okay, I've been ORDERED to get on Mumsnet for work so surely this is the impetus that I need to finally get back in touch!

We're sponsoring a webchat with Glenys Kinnock now if anyone wants to get on and especially if you want to ask any questions about the G8 and world hunger as we're trying to keep it on topic as much as possible!

Hello long lost friends!

I'm going to grab some lunch and then spend a few minutes reading the last couple of pages so I can post in an informed manner.

I hope everyone is well - I've missed you!

KiwiPanda · 14/05/2012 12:36

Mom How lovely to hear from you! How ARE you??

OP posts:
Indith · 14/05/2012 13:04

MOM hello!

Kayz hope the BH have calmed down. You'll get used to the school runs (ours also around a mile each way) Just rest as much as you can between them.

Ds1 is fine Grin. He is just scabby now. Back to dentist this afternoon to check his teeth but think they are OK.

Hope she gets better soon Kiwi :(

exercise is fab. I can easily see how it becomes addictive when you actually have the chance to do it regularly!

We went to York yesterday on a big day out involving seeing dh's gran and lunch with a uni friend. tHen we went to the railway museum, there is a branch of it near us but the York one is much shinier and better. Just as we got there they were demonstrating the turntable so we got to see it go round with the Hogwarts Express on it :)

MomOrMum · 14/05/2012 13:20

Okay, I have failed to do much more than skim the last couple of pages. So good to get some snippets of your news and exciting to be hearing about newborns and soon-to-be-newborns!

I am very well. Have been back at work since January and loving it! I am actually doing 5 days/week (bad Mum emoticon) am fine with it at the moment. It is in many ways less stressful because I don't have to spend the whole work week reminding people that I don't work on Friday, and also I don't feel as guilty leaving on time every day when I know I'm at least in every day.

I have been hugely busy since being back at work though, hence no time even for mumsnetting from the office! There was a major restructure since I was away with lots of new people who all have too much energy - so very, very busy (but good busy...just manic and no time for relaxing!).

We have a FAB nanny. So lucky to have her. This has made coming back to work so much easier. It is slightly bankrupting us (more than slightly....costs even more than our already extortionate mortgage!) but so, so nice.

The DSs are in fine form. I am enjoying them so much more since being back at work. Partly because DS2 is at a more fun age (almost 15 months) and sleeping more, but also because I think I am just a shite stay-at-home mum. I found this last maternity leave really hard work, and I didn't make as much effort to build the social networks so also didn't have that fun adult-solidarity part of maternity leave as much as the first time (still had my local Mums group from DS1 but lots of them have moved out of London, or were on a bit of a different schedule as they only had their toddler to worry about where as I was dealing with baby naps too, etc.).

DS2 didn't deign to sleep through the night until almost 13 months, but is now much more reliable at sleeping through than DS1 and also occasionally sleeps in which DS1 NEVER does. Not once in his life, seriously. We sometimes manage to hold him off until 6:15 but usually it's in the 5s. At least now it is light when he wakes!

Talk of 3 babies....a big topic in our house though definitely not imminent if it happens. I am more pro than DH but also very skeptical. We've had some dark times with sleep deprivation and lots of shouting and feeling glum, and also just feeling out of control with the mess and laundry, illness etc. Not sure we'd survive a 3rd! Never mind financially.....But we shall see!

London meetups - yes please! I'm much better at meet ups than I am at keeping in touch on here.

Beans36 · 14/05/2012 16:29

Hey Mom. Sounds like life is going swimmingly. Well done!

Kayz - how are those contractions? Did they calm down?

Flu-ridden here. Pru and me both rotten with it. Knackered. Izz been with childminder all day so I've been able to sleep when Pru has. 3 hours in total. Still feel rubbish.

Kiwi, I am so impressed with your running. How fast is your pb?

Lady - the walks sound just lovely. So sorry about the illness for your littles. Conjunctivitis is rank.

We had a smashing weekend. Took girls to village school fête on Saturday. DD1 even got to go on a horse. Then yesterday was gardening and a long walk. Gorgeous. Makes up for rubbishness of today.

Must fly. Promised sweets to Izz.
X

Beans36 · 14/05/2012 16:43

Trace - I meant to say hi to you too! How's everything with the move and your meds etc? X

McKayz · 14/05/2012 16:56

Beans, yeah they've stopped now thankfully. I'm hoping I'll get back in the swing of things soon.

I hope you and Pru are better soon.

AubergineKenobi · 14/05/2012 17:53

Hi Ladies

Just whizzing on as have been reading but not posting. I cannot type on my phone anymore as it inflames that shoulder injury I have been going on about for ages now. Anyway not typing on my phone really limits my posting opportunities.

I am so excited to hear others contemplating three. Come join me Beans, ZJ, MoM and Lady (and Invis, did you sound a little tempted?). Well not join me exactly. I am not preggers. But join me in deciding it is a good idea. Beans, I thought your DH was dead set against three, what changed his mind?

Its lovely to hear from those of you who are not about so much anymore: Summer, Jump and Mom. You all sound like you are doing really well and enjoying being back at work. Where is WG? Do you ever lurk WG?

Can you all spare some white light for my cousin? She had her second daughter by c-section a little while ago and during the surgery they accidently cut and badly damaged her bladder. She has had to have further surgery to correct the issue but now that surgery has got infected and she is really very ill. I am not getting a lot of information out of her partner or mother and I fretting somewhat.

Right, got to go, that was not a catch-up really so I apologise. I will try and get back on tonight as DH is out although I also hope to start watching The Bridge...

KiwiPanda · 14/05/2012 19:07

Aubs that sounds awful, thinking of your cousin.

Mom I'm going back full time in Oct myself (when DD2 will be 1). I also would be shite stay at home mum as I get too bored and grumpy and generally not fun to be around..!

Beans PB is now 46'01. Grin

OP posts:
VagolaJahooli · 15/05/2012 10:07

Bloody hell Kiwi that's fast. DH did a 10km on the weekend and was just over 51mins I think his PB is 47! You are super fast.

Hi Trace

Lady love all the walking. I'm also trying to sell loads of stuff, it's nice to have the extra money and space but a faff waiting around for people.

Are you feeling better Beans?

Hi Mom, lovely to hear from you.

I'm layed up this morning feeling a bit fluey. Little annoying as its my only morning off this week as DS2 in peuterschool until 11.30 and I should really go for a run but it's nice to have some time to MN. DH is going to a conference in London from Friday til next Tuesday so won't have much time to myself over the weekend.

Speaking of London we have booked our passage over for the Olympics (we are coming by boat that's why I called it passage). We arrive on the 28th July and are there until the 5th August. I think I have the night of the 28th booked for a meet up but otherwise I'm up for a London meet up anytime during that week, day or night. We have an Olympics football game on the fourth and I want to get tickets for the Olympic area one day with the kids, but otherwise pretty free.

VagolaJahooli · 15/05/2012 10:09

Oops posted before I was finished. Aubs that is quite scary about your cousin, hopefully they got in early with the ABs and they are on top of it. Thinking of you and whitelighting her.

KiwiPanda · 15/05/2012 10:25

Vag Hooray would love an Olympics meet up (anyone who is lucky enough to have tickets to tennis do shout, I live about 10 minute walk from there...). I am going to be an Olympics widow with DH basically disappearing for the entire period. Think he will be doing 16 hour days every day so some company will be very much appreciated for me!

I am probably a bit crazy but I'm now dreaming of breaking the 45 minute barrier... Not in the race in less than 2 weeks, couldn't do that, but have another one on 1st July so maybe then... fingers crossed..

OP posts:
VagolaJahooli · 15/05/2012 11:08

My dream is to break 25min 5km, something I think you can already do. I'm def up for keeping you sane while we are in London. Maybe we could get Beans do a Dec 08 run.

KiwiPanda · 15/05/2012 11:28

My 5km PB is 21.30 but that was pre kids...! Grin

OP posts:
PinguRocks · 15/05/2012 12:58

Hello lovely ladies
I have been absent for a very long time but have been trying to keep up as best I can on my phone! Congratulations to everyone who has had good news and big hugs to those of you who have been suffering from not-so-good news.
From what I can remember of the last few pages there were a few things I wanted to say:
on toothbrushing/toothpaste - I let DD1 "brush" herself but then always go in after to make sure some actual cleaning is done since she likes to chew the toothpaste off the brush. Speaking of which, at nursery Kings Dental department did a project with the children some time last year and they gave out a list of approved toothpastes and the aquafresh 0-3 was on it but the colgate smiles not (we now use the 0-3 as a result but I hadn't realised it was sweet so will be switching to the 4+ when we finish!).
Erm, what else, we moved just before Christmas and much as I love living out here and I agree it is best for the children man do I miss London sometimes. I miss being able to just pop out and do stuff or get stuff or see friends and it does sometimes feel like we are in the arse-end of nowhere here so I am well up for meeting up with anyone who would like to. You are all very welcome here (H a r p e n d e n) or I am willing to travel. I am starting to feel like a bit of billy-no-mates (which is totally my own fault since I haven't really thrown myself into things here) and am very impressed with how you seem to be getting on Beans - please come and be my friend and show me how it's done!
DD2 has finally started doing some longer stretches of sleep...in her cot....so I'm starting to feel a bit more human again - yay! And DD1 is still totally besotted with her little sister which is lovely.

Oh, and I can raise pretty much every one of you on the feel like a bad parent stakes - I had been cursing DD1 for a while because she was being naughty and not listening and it turns out that she's basically deaf! Poor little mite has severe glue ear so has now been given hearing aids which are helping but needs to have grommits put in so they can then establish exactly how bad the permanent underlying hearing loss she has is because the glue ear is complicating it all! No idea how long it's going to take for this to be done though, we are at the mercy of the referral system....
On the talk of 3 - I will definitely not be joining you. 2 is my lot! I feel a bit like I don't really have the patience for everything the two of them are throwing my way so I definitely don't think I'd be able to cope with a third. Also, we always planned on only having 2 so have set everything up to best deal with that. I don't feel sad that I won't ever be pregnant again or snuggle a tiny little newborn so I don't think I'll end up changing my mind. And I say that as 1 of 4 myself.....

Oh, and I have just put DD2 in with DD1 and so far so good (I guess the upside to not being able to hear would be not waking up when your sister cries!).
Right, little one is stirring and I need to sort out lunch so much love to everyone.

PinguRocks · 15/05/2012 13:00

Blimey, that was a bit long....sorry!
