Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
americanexpat · 24/05/2012 14:40

Can't believe the weather, it's absolutely roasting in the office.

In my mind I know that L is still really tiny and doesn't "get" that biting hurts, but it's just horrible to be told that your child has hurt another child. We did have a milestone last night though. He was climbing the television stand, DH told him no and he actually stopped doing it. Shock

MizK - I was going to say that I don't like Tom Cruise because he's a Scientologist (among other things) but was worried I'd be called religiously intolerant. Blush I always feel disappointed when I find out an actor I like is a Scientologist.

wigglesrock · 24/05/2012 20:32

americanexpat Anna is a wild biter, we were reaching the end of our tether last week. She would be sitting on your knee, cuddling, then just lean over and bite Blush. It hasn't been as bad this week, and a whole heap of new teeth came through a few days ago. I remember when Sofia went to creche, I was called over one day to say she had bitten another child Shock, it only happened the once and they weren't allowed to tell me who she had bitten but I was scundered. It never happened again.

I'm disappointed when I hear an actor is a Scientologist too, can't look at Will Smith, Jason Lee, Jenna Elfman without thinking "really aliens?" I'm aware that I'm leaving myself open to smirks considering my religious affliliations Grin

Talking of which its First Communion time this weekend for the year above Sofia - ye Gods its all very serious, hairdressers the length and breadth of the place must be raking it in Grin and thats just the grannys. I'm seriously underprepared for next year Shock

Weather gorgeous here too, Anna loves the sun, spent all morning climbing up the big slide in the garden and throwing herself down it Shock

Had to get emergency GP appointment for Olivia and her throat again this morning Sad Its infected this time so have got anitibiotics and GP has agreed to start the ball rolling re getting the tonsils out if she has a few more attacks in the next few months.

Emski76 · 24/05/2012 21:26

Hi all
Weve had a fab day in the sun. I bought Noah a pushchair and baby today and he lives it. He's spent most of the day pushing it around the garden and house. We have a bit of a an adventurer in Noah, I found him halfway up Bens climbing frame today, he was using his hands and knees to climb up the sliding back down. He also climbed onto a garden chair and fell off! I swear Ben was never do active!

American, please don't feel bad about the biting. All children go thru something whether it's biting, hitting or scratching,he doesn't know what he's doing and nursery will know that. They just need to tell you about anything like that.

Reastie, my in laws see the boys more than my family but that's only because mil looks after both boys a day each while I work and they go there on a weekend every other week so I can have a break plus I'm not really that close to my family. I echo what the others say tho, if dh wants mil to see Alice more let him take her and you have a break.

I'm watching Great Ormond Street and thank God I have two healthy boys and pray that it continues. It's do sad that we need to have a hospital dedicated to very ill children.

Emski76 · 24/05/2012 21:26

Oh, Wiggles, sorry Olivia is poorly again. poor her and you! Hope she's better soon

ILovePonyo · 24/05/2012 21:57

Hi all, I wrote a post earlier but mn went offline and lost it Hmm

american A is a sneaky hitter, she often takes swipes at other children if they get within reach, its embarrassing.

wigs hope O is ok :( poor girl.

I can't remember what I posted before but I'm sure it was very interesting - I'll post properly tomo... Poor A is coughing away in her sleep too so I'm predicting a busy night (noooo)

Night all

wigglesrock · 24/05/2012 22:03

ponyo and emski see Olivia doesn't realise she's ill until 3am Grin, she will run around until she collapses. She's lost a bit of weight recently and I think my spidey sense is tingling that she's had a few low grade infections lately that have gone unnoticed. The GP was great though.

ponyo hope A settles, Anna is a bit unsettled, its very warm here tonight.

ILovePonyo · 24/05/2012 22:07

Grin at Olivia, sounds about right wiggles! Glad the gp was understanding, its a relief isn't it.

Its bloody 31 degrees in A's room! Poor sweaty baby.

ILovePonyo · 24/05/2012 22:08

Am watching the father ted episode where he offends chinese people by being 'a racist' oh god its funny. "fecking greeks!"

wigglesrock · 24/05/2012 22:16

ponyo thats Mr Ws fave episode of any comedy series ever Grin

ILovePonyo · 24/05/2012 22:29

Mine too! Grin

blizy · 25/05/2012 07:07

Happy Friday ladies! Just a wee school drop off then I'm done for the day- YAY! I'm off out to enjoy the sunshine.

Have a good day y'all! E

reastie · 25/05/2012 08:01

ponyo and wiggles my fave episode has to be my lovely horse Grin and the priests lost in the lingerie dept Wink

american were the nursery nice about it though? Alice is a hitter - she tends to just flap her arms and hit anything near her when she can't get her opinion across or isn't getting what she wants Blush

deb the Friday date is in the diary Grin

blizy you know London is practically in Kent if you fancy a trip to visit me Wink

ems there's a boy at Alices gymboree who sounds just like Noah re: the climbing. You literally blink and he's climbed perilously high and could fall off at any minute. His Mum looks quite exhausted chasing him around. Maybe Noah will do mountain climbing when he's older Wink

wiggles hope Olivia gets sorted soon - she's had a few throaty things recently hasn't she? Don't tell me the first communion where you are is like the big fat gypsy wedding ones where they get dressed up like their wedding day?!

Nearly fainted this morning Shock . Maybe it's the heat or dashing about non stop all the time or something. Feeling very wobbly for going to work but I guess at least it's the week end soon Grin

blizy · 25/05/2012 08:20

wiggles poor Olivia, hope she is better soon.

reatie Are you having me on here?Wink My Geography is shockingly bad!
Oh nearly fainting, I hope you are ok? You could be pg Grin

I have no word about my test results yet, the nurse did say they wouldn't contact me if all is ok. I think I will give the surgery a call after the school run though.

My mindee pushes the others, he is very big and chunky for his age and actually knocks the older ones to the ground! Ohh my poor back hurts when I have him!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 25/05/2012 08:45

Aaarrrggghhhh! Just lost 2 huge postS and not enough time to rewrite!

Hello everyone! I hope you all have lovely Fridays, will try and write again tonight.

.... just when I thought I had finally caught up with everyone's news damn it....

americanexpat · 25/05/2012 08:54

reastie - yes, the nursery were very nice about it. The rest of the story came out yesterday and he actually broke the girl's skin, left a graze mark down her back. Shock They had to phone her mother who was very understanding. And he bit another child yesterday too but not as badly. [sigh] He's a pusher too. [double sigh] When I took him this morning, one of the staff said, "He's spirited, isn't he?" which as Ponyo said, is code for pain in the arse. Grin

Emski - L is a climber too, it's exhausting. In the half hour after we got home yesterday, he climbed on then tipped over a chair in the garden and fell down two steps in the house. Then he climbed on a storage box at my WW meeting, tipped it over and fell.

wiggles - Poor Olivia, I hope she's feeling better soon. Will Smith is a Scientologist?! Shock

ledkr · 25/05/2012 10:09

wiggs Ds1 had tonsilitis all though his childhood,it was terrible. I used to literally smell the infection beginging Hmm they never took them out though but did take out ds2's even though he got it less Hmm OOoo you will never ever make me go of Will Smith, him in I robot, lifting the weight with his one arm against a sunset is my all time fav fantasy Grin

american its horrible when you find out they have bitten,ds3 used to bite and spit Blush at tis age its to get a reaction. D hits, pinches and pulls Els hair this has decreased since we told E to walk away with no reaction.

ems Good for Noah with his baby, dills has a buggy but gets very frustrated if you put a baby in it and chucks it out with a grunt. She also picks it up with one arm to take it up any step.

We went to the Lido yesterday,it was fab but i think i wont be going as much this year Confused D just wants to jump in the pool at all times, clothed, naked whatever. She couldnt even eat her picnic cos she wanted to get in. I was bloody exhausted by the end of the day.
Am doing sod all today apart from a quick dancing run going to fill the pool and relax

debka · 25/05/2012 10:37

reastie how exciting, we have a date!! Anyone else welcome too in case she's a bit cuckoo (just kidding reast Grin)

blizy enjoy your day in the sun :) Has DH had his swimmers tested too?

expat can only echo what others say, just what babies do. I wouldn't be in the least bit bothered if S got bitten, so long as I trusted the nursery staff were on the ball. Ims got sand thrown in her eyes this week, all I hear now is 'Nancy is a BAD BAD NAUGHTY girl, she threw SAND' ad infinitum Grin. Makes me laugh because I know it's simply luck that Nancy threw the sand before Imogen!

wiggles poor little O, hope the dr can sort her out soon.

Got my Shapewear Voucher through today, what should I get girls? Can you try them on before you buy do you think?

Did I tell you I am part of a Therapy Group? A friend of mine is a therapist and she's started a group to help people become more mindful, confident, in control of their lives etc. She asked me to come as a 'role model', as I have sort of started on this already (losing weight, planning to go to uni etc). Anyway, it was the second group last night and v v interesting, we did some Guided Meditation which I really enjoyed, I think I may be a natural meditator, Shock who knew!!??!! I feel a little bit of a fraud beinbg there sometimes tbh as some of the people have really really difficult and sad situations- I am the only one married with children for example. I was listening to a man last night, he's my age (32), unemployed for 3 years, lives with his parents, has never had a relationship, never even had a friend. I just wanted to take him home :( Made me feel so fortunate for the life I have.

blizy · 25/05/2012 11:05

Debka- the poor man, hope
The therapy helps him. Check you out being a role model! Have you done anything g about going to uni?

No Dh has had a swimmer test yet. I just phoned the doctor and the nurse is calling back with results when she can in between patients, bang goes my day in the sun! I'm stuck in waiting on the phone call instead.Sad

Cam back from the school run and my house reeked of poo! Yip, Alfie had done the biggest and smelliest jobby on the kitchen floorAngry. He must have known he was going to the vet this morning!Wink just a weight check for him and he is gaining well, last time at vet for a while. Next visit will be for the ball chop op!

debka · 25/05/2012 11:24

blizy that's minging, baby poo fine, animal poo, bleurgh. Can you not take the phone into the garden to wait for the call?

I'm going to the open day at Canterbury University (20 mins from my house) next month, where I can ask all the questions. I just need to decide when to start, and how to get the kids looked after.

blizy · 25/05/2012 11:53

Your telling me, Alfie is in the bad books! who am I kidding, he is snuggled up on my chest sleeping

I would take the phone in the garden if it didn't resemble a jungle, nothing relaxing about that! Blush we are tackling it at the weekend.

So exciting about the open day!

Emski76 · 25/05/2012 14:07

Blizy, talking of poo. I noticed a few smudges of poo on our bottom stair, so cleared it up then asked Ben about it. Turns out he'd say there to put his pants back on after having s poo and hadn't wiped properly, puke, puke. Poor child was traumatised to think his poo was on the stairs!
Let us know what the nurse says.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a climber. We've just spent the morning at the park and seafront, and Noah climbed up the big children's climbing frame and somehow managed to get himself into the seesaw! He's mad, I tell you! He loved pushing his baby along the promenade though.
It is exhausting keeping up with him and he's not even walking everywhere yet!

Deb, the therapy group sounds really interesting, I love anything like that where people get to pour out their feelings, I love knowing what makes people tick. And get you being a role model. Hope you get loads of info at your uni day next month, let us know how you get on.

Best go, have a friend coming over this afternoon, may be tempted to get some beers to drink in the sunshine. Speak later

blizy · 25/05/2012 14:26

Robin- I'm watching how I met your mother. It's the robin sparkles episode Grin. Hope you are ok?

Emski- wow at Noah and his climbing, little monkey! Yikes at Ben and the poo

Still not heard from the nurse. I was told last week that If I didn't hear anything everything was clear. I was tested for loads of things and I just want to know if I'm ovulating! Argh, so frustrating.Angry

reastie · 25/05/2012 14:49

blizy can you ring them back? That sort of thing has happened to me before (as in they say the nurse will ring back) and they don't as they forget or are too busy. It would be really annoying if you had to worry all week end about the results. Btw, yes, Kent is near(ish) London Grin . I am maybe 20 - 30 miles drive from central London or just a 30 minute train ride Wink Grin , and no I'm not pg I don't think I have a coil so shouldn't be. It is slightly worrying though - that's the second time I've come over all faint in a week and I'm not a fainter.

ems Envy with boakness to the poo on the stairs

deb is that Canterbury Christ Church you'll go to? I did my teaching qualification there Grin . It's worth it for the free pass to Canterbury cathedral all students get Hmm that I never used Wink . Btw thanks for the cuckoo comment Wink we will be in the open air so you can just run away from me if you like . Re: M&S I got my voucher today too - I'm going to buy lots and lots and lots of knickers - I haven't really bought any new ones for quite a few years Blush and the ones I have are all too small really [double blush] so would be good to have some of a decent fit. I'm going to get the cotton rich ones though as loads of their shapewear stuff is so syntheticy which I find too clammy and sweaty.

Re: Tom Cruise, I never used to have an issue with him until I read all the Shock comments on him on mn - maybe I'm naive but I had no idea

ledkr · 25/05/2012 15:42

deb Thats great about uni. Re the shape wear id say an all in one is the way forward, ive yet to find anything else that does the job in a comfy way.
I have norticed my belly is a bit better since ive been running and ive lost a whole stone without actual diets.I just eat less carbs and smaller portions now.

ems I bet weston was rammed today. Ill come up for the day soon.

I think my poor baby has hayfever, she has sneezed and spluttered her way through the day. I went to Asda but they had no baby pirton so im going to get it in a bit.We have the dancing run soon so im going to wait in the park with D,life is so much easier when the weather is nice.

ledkr · 25/05/2012 15:44

reastie my knickers are all a bit vile too. My nice ones are too small and the other ones are tescos own cheapos.
Does anyone else begrudge spending money on knickers when you could get a nice item of clothing for the same price?
I bought a body brush today after catching sight of my dimply arse and legs yesterday Sad
