Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Emski76 · 21/05/2012 12:24

I would love to come to a meet. Either in Bristol ,Led, or up North with the rest of you. Would be fantastic!!
In the holidays I'll be free most Thursday and Fridays!

Ledkr, glad you took the day off. Have a nice relaxing day with D and dh, you need it.

Well done on diet Miz K, although it sounds like my kind of last ditch attempt!!

Catch y'all later. Off to the cash point in my lunchbreak - wow, what an interesting life I lead!

reastie · 21/05/2012 14:40

Hiya,

mizk love the piccie - C and A look so grown up now .

Envy or all this meet up talk. deb shall we get a date in our diary for leeds castle?

ledkr glad you took the day off - you deserve a rest - hope DH is giving you one (a rest that is Wink Blush )

blizy did you have your survey done? Nothing falling apart I hope!

Alice had her chicken pox jab this morning. She was very brave and didn't cry but I may have shed a tear . Am crossing fingers we don't get a reaction like the last lot of injections.

While I remember - how many of you give grapes to your little ones? I think it was ems who mentioned Noah loved them so I've been giving them to Alice and she loves them too. That is until she who will not be named told DH last week she was too young for them and she wouldn't give grapes to a 1yo for fear of choking, so now I feel undermined but also Confused if I've done something wrong

MizK · 21/05/2012 15:05

reastie I do, but I chop them in half, also do that with satsuma segments and cherry tomatoes. Heard similar choking horror stories and it scared me!

Grannyapple · 21/05/2012 15:19

Hi ladies..N seems better so have put him in nursery while dh & I had a posh lunch in town @ the Berkely Hotel. Now just walking that & the champagne & wine off in Hyde Park.

Would be up for a Leeds castle meetup, by the way Smile

ILovePonyo · 21/05/2012 15:37

Hi all, aw look at A and Cass together Mizk! Cass has such a cheeky face :) I loved seeing them running around together too, well C was running, A was staggering after her in drunky baby style. I think A's haircut has made her look a lot more like a little girl than a baby now (boo!)

I'd love another meet up soon, ledkr how long does it take you to drive to Nottingham? I've forgotten where you live.
emski Thurs and Fri are best for me too! Grin

reastie my mum told me a horrible story about a baby that died choking on grapes so I cut them in half too. A loves them and shoved about 5 in her mouth at once which kind of defeated the purpose of cutting them in half Hmm

ledkr hope your day is going ok. The only comfort I get at the moment re: my dad is that he died how he would have wanted to if that makes sense, he would have hated to be ill for ages - so agree with Four4 that maybe at least she went with people that she loves nearby. Hope you don't mind me saying that?

Borg ha at N crapping in front of old ladies Grin Good news about your friends babys, agree that is sounds so wrong for a small baby to be having chemo :(

Right better go, back later all

ILovePonyo · 21/05/2012 15:38

Ooh granny glad that N is better, your day sounds amazing!

tadjennyp · 21/05/2012 18:03

Good for you taking the day off ledkr. Grief can be so insidious, as you know, and catch you unawares at the strangest of times. Take care of yourself.

Glad N is better, granny. Sounds like a lovely day!

Will put that on my watch list wiggles - thanks. Wink

Love that picture MizK, the girls do look so grown up. S too. He busies himself in the garden climbing up the rockery to the ledge at the back, then throws stones off it. Take him down and he does it again!

I'm glad your friends' babies are doing better Borg. It's so scary to think of their tiny bodies having to go through that.

I hope Alice doesn't have any reactions to her jabs reastie. I haven't given S grapes yet as I am scared of choking, but having said that, he eats popcorn like it is going out of fashion when the other two are watching a film. He could probably cope, after all! I wish he would take two naps a day. Sometimes he doesn't even manage one till 20 mins at tea-time!

Hope you have all had good days.

ledkr · 21/05/2012 19:25

D eats grapes as her staple diet and bluberries.I cut grapes though defo.
She was a right little whingey pants today her molars i think. I got to take her to toddlers which was nice.
Im feeling sort of shocked and numb,dh doesnt seem to get it as he has never experienced death. Im trying not to mind but i kind of do iyswim.
Thanks for all your kind words. It looks as if I will be speaking at the funeral as my sis think they cant. We are going to write something between us.

D had one half hour or less nap today.I may start to try and keep her awake for a nap in the afternoon tbh, do you stil do that ems

wigglesrock · 21/05/2012 19:28

Borg Glad the babies are doing well.

ledkr hope you were able to relax today and aren't running ragged, looking after everyone else - remember to take care of you Grin

reastie I've always given the girls grapes - cut length ways or bitten if in a mad panic in Tescos Grin

grannyapple very Envy of your day, not sure if I'm still talking to you Grin

Weather beautiful here, Sofia has her school trip to the zoo tomorrow, so off to try and find suncream I bought in a flurry of optimisim a few weeks ago Grin. Also have to try and soothe Olivia, Sofia is reading Greyfriars Bobby (ooh its like a stealth reading boast Grin) and she read it out to us before bed. I have never read it, bloody barrel of laughs Hmm, Olivia is a bit upset at the story and we were watching the news just before bed and she was nosying at the Bee Gees and realised that Robin Gibb is the same age as my Dad. She's started to fixate slightly on my Dad being old.

Time for a cuddle and some Calpol reassuring words

ILovePonyo · 21/05/2012 20:37

ledkr just a thought - I am considering asking gp for referral for counselling or going through CRUSE - I realised today that although I think about my dad all the time, when I actually think properly about him not being here anymore I feel quite panicky so prefer not to think about it, iyswim. Its all very early days for you (and me in a way) but thought I'd share.

wigs what is that book, never heard of it?! Bless Olivia, enjoy the cuddles.

Just had roast beef, potatoes and carrots for tea, yum :)

wigglesrock · 21/05/2012 20:46

ponyo its about a terrier who lies on his masters grave every night. I'm sure its a lot more profound than that but S is reading the abridged version Grin She loves it, touch of the maudlin there. Olivia was fine, she had drawn some pictures of some snails - her new favourite animal Hmm. Sofias topic in school at the minute is minibeasts, so its snails, worms, beetles a go go here. If I have to go on one more minibeast hunt with them, I will begin to drink during the day Grin

ILovePonyo · 21/05/2012 21:00

Shock wiggles, sounds a bit dark.

Grin at you being driven to drink and O and get snails, love hearing about your girls Smile

ILovePonyo · 21/05/2012 21:01

'Her' not get

debka · 21/05/2012 21:12

ledkr so sorry to hear about your Nan, we've had a lot of sad losses on this thread recently :( How do you feel about speaking at her funeral?

wiggles we went on our first minibeast hunt yesterday, I enjoyed it nearly as much as the girls Grin

Re grapes I am horribly blase and give them whole Blush

borg glad to hear the babies are doing ok. That poor 8mo having chemo though :(

reastie and grannyapple how about half term week for a Leeds Castle meetup?

Tres proud of S this weekend, on Sat she said her first sentence- Where Daddy? THERE! . Then today I said to her Bean your nose is minging (exact words)- she wandered off then came back with a handful of toilet paper and offered me her nose! Grin

ledkr · 21/05/2012 22:03

Thanks deb yes I think I could speak. Dilly calls her Dad by his christian name in exactly the same tone as i use Grin S sounds really bright.

ponyo I do feel panicky if i think about it yes and defo try not to let it creep into my head or its too much. I have learned that technique over the years its prob not the best way Hmm

My brother rang tonight,he is coming home thank goodness. Will be nice to have him here. As usual its my Mum and her "girls" and me on my tod.

ledkr · 21/05/2012 22:06

wiggs yuck. Ella still thinks its ok to have pet ants in a jar of leaves in her ROOM.She is 10 fgs. Pet ants??

Grannyapple · 21/05/2012 22:15

debka when is half term?

blizy · 21/05/2012 22:18

Wiggles- whatever you do, don't let her watch the film. When my wee sis was about 6 she sobbed for weeks thinking about it, that and Lassie!Grin

Debka- clever Bean!

Borg- in glad the babies are doing well, long may it continue.

Ledkr- I hope you are ok? I know it tough with the mum situ, I'm glad you have your brother there for you. Does he notice the difference your mum makes?

Right well it's bed time for me. Up early with baby mindee in the morn. Night all.

reastie · 22/05/2012 06:59

granny half term is jubilee week. I can do the Friday of that week if anyone else can?

ledkr be careful blocking things out re: your Nan. I did that with my Granny and then after the funeral it suddenly all got to me. Glad your bro can make it.

deb well done clever Bean. Alice is very good at walking and signing but not so good at talking - we still only have mama dada nnnnnn (for no) nana clock and gone.

ledkr · 22/05/2012 08:29

Well D reached new lows today-4.30 am grrr. Thats cos of no nap yesterday.

blizy My bro lives in France so he doesnt see it but believes me though.

reastie yes i know that,im not much of a weeper and wailer,i tend to just keep quiet tbh, last night i kept seeing my nans dead face as i tried to sleep,i read for a bit then was ok.

On a brighter note we pick up the camper on Sat so can have alittle half term jaunt. My bro lives in Brittanny in a 4 bed house so we will have the first week there he has afab garden and is going to have bbq's with lots of kids for the gilrs to play with. We will tehn move south for a tour.

Anyone who is a bit bored can i recommend the thread in relationships "will he hurt me" I laughed until i cried,so did dh.

reastie · 22/05/2012 09:47

deb forgot to ask - have you got your £30 M&S voucher yet? No sign of it here and I'm getting impatient

ledkr sounds like a lovely half term plan Envy . Sad for seeing your nan like that when you were trying to sleep. I'm not surprised though, would have thought that a hard to deal with but normal reaction. Hope you get to grieve at the funeral and not worry too much about holding it together for the reading.

wigglesrock · 22/05/2012 11:14

reastie if it helps think there was a thread in Sponsored Discussions saying a lot of people hadn't got their vouchers.

ledkr holiday plan sounds lovely, do you know when the funeral is yet?

blizy No, won't let her watch the film Grin I remember the first time I saw West Side Story on tv, I was only about 7 and my granny was minding us - oh how I broke my heart Blush. It was the first thing I'd watched where the hero actually died and stayed dead! I remember running in to my granny (the 100 one Grin) and crying "he'll be all right, won't he?" Think her considered reply was along the lines of "well pet, life's hard sometimes" Shock Grin

Beautiful day here, just back from mammoth walk with Anna, admiring the countryside, birds chirping, cows mooing and also wondering at the sight of someone in the flats apartments beside us, filling up a cooler on his little balcony with bottles of beer. Lucky beggar its very early for those kind of shannanigans, isn't it? Grin

americanexpat · 22/05/2012 11:22

ledkr - I'm so sorry about your gran. Nothing else to say really, hope you're managing to get through.

I am a neglectful parent like debka and give L whole grapes. The grapes are quite big though so it seems like a smaller half grape is more of a choking hazard? [deludes self] He always crams as much food into his mouth as possible then chews it anyway.

I managed to find an old pair of magic pants in the back of my wardrobe so I'm unable to breathe looking properly svelte today. At least it's easy to stick to my diet if I have no room for food!

Hello to everyone else!

ledkr · 22/05/2012 20:02

Hi all. Holiday plan is for the summer btw,we are just testing it out locally half term.

Went to work, boss was a knob i hate him hes a twunt Grin

Was so busy but couldnt concentrate at all.

D went to bed at 6.20,she was so tired but had a lovely day with dil and dgs in the garden and paddling pool. She looks a bit hay fevery today but my grass is mega big so not surprising.

wiggs I love that type of thing when its all idealic and something bizzarre spoils it. I took ds3 to see the ballet at cove garden and we came out all cultured and chatting about the ballet dont ya know,we walked straight into a drunk rastafarian weeing into the air Grin ds enjoyed it more than the ballet.

WeAreBorg · 22/05/2012 21:28

ledkr hope you are feeling ok. Laughed at "twunt boss"

ponyo thinking of you too.

mizk anya and cass are so cute!

wiggles I used to love that kind of stuff when I was little, destitute victorian orphans, grieving pets, the lot Smile

reastie Ns diet is probably 90% grape.

granny glad wee N is better.

deb wow at Bean, that's clever I think N doesn't really say anything because we are so in tune as I am an amazing mother Hmm

Snobby post alert. We went to the chavvy park today after going into town. All the dads and babies were topless and burnt, I was probably older than all the grannies there. N watched a man catch a fish, it flopped about for ages and looked as though it died, then he chucked it back in. N ate some mouldy bread meant for the birds before I could stop him. He went to chat to a man who was fishing, I thought the man was waving at him so started the "say hello to the man" thing, then realised he was shooing him away! Blush
