Ledkr, thinking of you today.

I've not gone to in laws today now as have a dodgy tum, honestly its not an excuse not to see them!

Talking about accident prone babies. Noah tripped and landed on the radiator this morning. He caught jut below his nose so had a slight nose bleed but also caught his lip against his teeth. Dh gave him to me and when I pulled him away to check his face my shoulder was covered in blood from his mouth so Benfreaked out and started crying. Noah now has a very red and sore bit under his nose and a swollen top lip. Poor baby is ok in himself tho. Dh and I are just glad he missed his nose cos I honestly think he woud have broken it.

Am relieved I won't be there when mil sees it!

Right I'm off to sleep off this poorly tum.

Hi all. Well Nan dies at 4.15 we were all with her me,Mum,sisters, cousins and uncle and aunt. We were with her all day holding her hand and talking to her. Agreed to with hold treatment around midday as she was suffering but alert too. Once the morphine was administered she was thankfully out of it.

Its a terrible thing,i kept thinking "that is my Nan" and to see your Mum lose her Mum is so sad.

My Mum was in shock but also relieved i think.

I am so glad i saw her yesterday she said "hiya Lou" when i went in.

I rememberd today when i told her i was pg at 17.She said "well your mother will have to lump it,you ent the first and you wont be the last" Grin

The world lost a great matriarch today, she taught me everything i know about being stroppy and stubborn and getting my own way. Rip Nan x

reastie · 20/05/2012 18:52

Oh ledkr I'm so sorry Sad . Sounds like when she died she was with those who loved her and wasn't in pain though. Was she the Nan who was in a nursing home?

ledkr · 20/05/2012 18:57

yes and we all agreed that she wasnt that happy there tbh. Reastie did you take a day off when your nan died,i was at the hosp all day,im smelly and tired and emotional and really cant face work, does a grandparent death count for compassionate leave?

blizy · 20/05/2012 19:07

Ledkr- I'm so, so sorry. Your Nan sounded like a wise and wonderful lady, I bet she was so proud of you.
If you don't feel up to work take a few days off. Yes you are entitled to compassionate leave. Big hugs sent your way. X

ILovePonyo · 20/05/2012 19:17

Ledkr so sorry to hear about your nan. She sounds like a fab lady, feisty too hm wonder where you get it from Smile
Hope you can take tomo off, your day sounds exhausting. Look after yourself x x

wigglesrock · 20/05/2012 19:44

ledkr I'm so very sorry sweetheart xx Looks like her spirit will live on in her great grandaughters Dilly and Ella Grin

reastie · 20/05/2012 20:00

led according to my mum (bereavement counsellor) I could have taken a week off for compassionate for my Granny but not sure if that's correct (sorry not to be more help). I didn't take a day off when I found out my Granny had died but I wasn't there in the home when she did so it was a completely different situ - you've been through it emotionally today so I think you would be completely just in having time off.

wigglesrock · 20/05/2012 20:14

ledkr a long time ago I used to be in Personnel, before it changed to HR Grin and it would depend on your employer. 3 days paid bereavement leave used to be granted for spouse, parents, children and parents in law, but not necessarily any other relative. I didn't get bereavement leave when my aunt or uncle died and a friend didn't get it when her best friend died, but this was aeons ago Grin

ledkr · 20/05/2012 20:30

Thanks girls,I think i will take a day off,i feel teary and exhausted and have plenty of time owing or happy to go sick as ive got a cracking headache.
I saw my gran take her last breath today and i refuse to do what i always do and carry on. I did that when exh left us and nobody ever said thankyou so I will not be a martyr.Ella is sad too, they were very close.

ledkr · 20/05/2012 20:31

wiggs Oh the irony of being allowed cl for the pil and ot granny Grin

wigglesrock · 20/05/2012 20:34

ledkr I know Grin, I always thought it was really tight, we just used to sign people off sick for a week.

Grannyapple · 20/05/2012 21:00

Aw ledkr sorry to hear about your nan...she sounds like a crackin lady to know. Hugs to you & your girls, & especially to your mum too xxx

Emski76 · 20/05/2012 21:13

Ledkr, sorry to hear your sad news, it's good that were all there st the end. Yes, take some time off and make sure you don't just carry on,you need time to grieve. Lots of hugs xxx

MizK · 20/05/2012 21:13

Just popped on to upload a new pic of Cassia and Anya together from Fri, and saw ledkrs sad news.
Darling, don't even think about working. Some grans are like mothers to us and losing her must be awful. Take time to get better, sleep or just chat about your lovely nan. Lots of love xxxxxx and we are all here if you need us xxxx hi to all the other Feb lovelies, will catch up in full tomorrow xxx

Four4me · 20/05/2012 21:19

Oh I'm so sorry ledkr sad day for you all. Big hugs to you, take care lovely lady. Xxxxxxxxxxx

WeAreBorg · 20/05/2012 21:23

ledkr so sorry about your nan, hope you and your family are okay. You need to take some time off, people do for so much less. Your nan sounded fab.

granny how is nate?

Forgot to update you on my friends babies. The wee boy is doing champion after his heart surgery and is back at home. The 8mo girl is having chemo but has been well enough to have it mostly as an outpatient, and has been well.

We had a nice enough day, next door had a drinks party with posh wine and canapes. Nate was really well behaved [massive shock face], he just went round handing out pens to everyone, and didn't trash a thing.

Four4me · 20/05/2012 21:24

Might be the wrong thing to say but in some respects I think your Nan has been a lucky lady. I would love to think that on the day I take my last breath i have all of those people that I love dearly with me. She sounds like a proper treasure. X

tadjennyp · 20/05/2012 21:27

So sorry about your Nan ledkr. RIP. If you don't feel up to it tomorrow, tell them you've got a bloody headache. Thinking of you.

Grannyapple · 20/05/2012 22:27

Aw fab pic mizk

borg thx for asking...his temp was 38.4...so not enough to warrant a trip to docs yet I don't think... I think he might be on the mend...but I said that yesterday & he was ill again last night Confused. I'm now beginning to think it might be teething related as he's fine during the day...well, he is only eating fruit & yoghurts. He's been fine with his teeth throughout (now had 12), so if it is teething, then I'm in shock that it's this bad (counts herself lucky)...

borg your N sounds sooo cute & such a wee character..

wigglesrock · 20/05/2012 23:01

MizK and ponyo lovely photo Grin, look how big the girls look Shock

tad I think you have a tingling in your loins for Eddie Redmayne, I've just watched My Week with Marilyn - he's very good in it, and you get to see him in his pants Grin

Right, time for bed, 11pm on a school night Shock

ledkr night night, hope you get a good nights sleep xx

Emski76 · 21/05/2012 06:43

MizK, lovely photo of Cassia and Anya. Love the bunches Ponyo!

Borg, good to hear the two babies are doing fairly well. Thanks for updating us.

Granny, glad Nate seems to be ok, hopefully it s just teeth. Can't believe he has 12 already!

Ledkr, thinking of you

ledkr · 21/05/2012 07:52

Nice pics miz k. Dont forget me next time,im always up for the drive up. And ems, maybe we can meet up one day in the hols at @bristol. I love the fact you can have an indoor picnic there.

Does that make me sound as if i have no friends? Grin

granny I am always a bit sceptical about teething causing a temperature. I mean why would it?? D has never had much trouble with teeth apart form the last couple which are molars, she seems to be in quite a bit of pain with those,i keep her well dosed up.

well i slept well untill 3am then woke up. I have heavy af and a headache so feel justified in having a day at hiome,i just want to be here with dh and dills.
Going to do some cooking and help Mum if i can. Sis is flying home today she works in Nigeria. going to skype my bro today in france,he knows but will be nice to chat.

blizy · 21/05/2012 10:30

Ledkr- I'm glad you took the day off, I hope you can relax and Dh is looking after you.

Mizk- Envy of you and Ponyos meet. I will check out pics later when I'm on laptop.

Sat in the house this morning waiting on a survey of the house (changing mortgage) BORING! Good job I have no mindees till after school.

Hope you all have a good Monday.

MizK · 21/05/2012 12:08

ledkr over summer any meetups will be more than welcome, 6 weeks is a long space to fill! Hope your day is going OK, definitely sounds like you made the right choice to stay home, after a bereavement the family being together is so important x hope your mum is OK x
borg glad the babies seem to be doing well, lots of love to them both. Seems so wrong and shocking for an 8mo to be going through chemo somehow, doesnt it? V impressed with N being good at the posh party, he must have a taste for high society :)
blizy at least you have MN to keep you company whilst being stuck in the house!
granny Big hugs to nate, hope he perks up today poor thing x
Honestly ladies, seeing little Anya all grown up on Friday was so weird (in the nicest possible way!) She was like a proper little person! Thinking back to the Brum meet up we had, where all the babies sat sedately in our laps, the next big meet will be v different indeed!
Not much exciting news from me, although am Atkinsing like mad for the week as going away on Sunday and want to look reasonably good in my bikini! nothing like a quick fix eh, probably won't work but one can dream. Cass tried Brie for the first time today and would happily have eaten the entire wedge if I hadn't put it away! I don't see why I should share my cheese whilst she munches away on carbs right in front of me :)
