Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Emski76 · 16/05/2012 12:33

Deb, bloody hell, almost 6 stone!! Thats amazing! Now i feel guilty for ordering pizza delivery for tonight! Dh is away and i always treat myself to takeaway when he's not here - I don;t have to share that way!

Led, well done to Ella. Bet your dead proud!

Reastie, well done for taking the day to yourself. Be good to have some time to yourself.

I am attempting to come off my anti d's, and have lowered my dose from 20mg to 10mg in the last week, really struggling today with the anxiety. My body is so tense i feel like I just need to squeeze something! Had to walk out of the office a while back as it was building up so much. Am typing so super fast right now as the tension in my arms is horrendous. Hope it doesn't last too long! I;ve had a few spaced out moments in the last week but stupidly wasn't prepared for this feeling!

Off to eat my WW meal in preparation for tonights pizza!!

reastie · 16/05/2012 13:24

aww ems Sad . Can you lower the dose you are reducing? I'm sure ledkr has more expert advice so all I can say is when I've come off ads I've always lowered my dose really slowly by tiny amounts and I have to say I never really noticed the difference so much that way. I would have prob gone down to 15 not 10 initially. Just my two pence and feel free to ignore - I'm always rather overcautious with these things and even gradually weaned myself off the pill over a couple of months I still suffered horrific side effects then though . Enjoy your pizza tonight Envy . Hope the anxiety passes soon - lots of sympathy as know exactly how you're feeling. x

Well, Now got Alice back after my morning off. Very glad I did take time off atch as completely exhausted. Spent the morning reading a book in the bath then watching a trashy horror film. Have tried to do some cleaning/tidying - does anyone else just get depressed by how much housework there is always to do? I never seem to get 1/10 as much done as I want to and there's always so much to do . Maybe once we actually manage to decorate the house more things will actually look clean and shiny when I clean them

americanexpat · 16/05/2012 14:03

deb - how did I miss you've lost nearly 6st! Shock Well done!

Ems - I'm sorry you're feeling so anxious, I hope it passes soon. I love that you get takeaway when you're on your own so you don't have to share!

reastie - our house is a permanent nuclear bomb site. I've written a master spring clean/pre-move list that DH and I are working our way through (v slowly). DH doesn't seem to see mess like I do so the list tells him what needs to be done. I have to do all the sorting so he's doing most of the cleaning. Does your DH help with the housework?

wigglesrock · 16/05/2012 14:22

debka wowzer, you should be so proud of yourself xxx

reastie glad you had some time to yourself this morning, my Mum has Anna most Wednesday mornings and I'd be lost without the break. Although spent most of the morning pulling out and vacuuming under beds. Also did a sneaky cleanout of toy boxes etc, the girls are terrible at throwing things out so I do it when they can't witness what I'm doing Shock. My top tip - lower your expectations Grin, clean to me is not actually dangerous to human health Grin and tidy is out of sight! Poor Mr W was going into work later this afternoon and I think he had envisaged some afternoon delight so to speak, he was most disappointed when I handed him new sheets and told him "No, you're making the beds not unmaking them"

emski hope all goes well, completely expected to feel tense (understandment) I always felt hemmed in when I was anxious. I buy sweets when Mr W is on nights so I don't have to share Blush

american I've probably missed it but I kept meaning to ask, will you be any nearer family when you move back?

I'm trying to make a decision re Sofias birthday today, she's asked for a party with her school friends and its not happening at the house, no siree bob. She wants the mini makeover party her friend had, its not that expensive and the food is included, I'm just pontificating about booking it. She'd only have the girls from her class anyway. Not having the whole class (did that before Shock) and she can't pick boys - she likes them all Hmm Shock

ledkr · 16/05/2012 21:07

Ems I am going to really shout at you now.You shouldnt muck about with meds without expert guidance and ads need to be taken for at least 6 months after the symptoms of depression/anxiety disappear. Having said that id be surprised if lowereing the dose could have such a dramatic effect upon you so quickly.
Go back to your normal 20mg which is only a lowish does anyway btw and then see your gp. Im off to catch up now Smile

Emski76 · 16/05/2012 21:08

Evening ladies
It's quiet here tonight!
Reastie, my pills are so small that I can barely cut them in half to get 10mg! I felt ok after lunch so hopefully the anxiety will just come and go. I have a little journal where I've been writing things down since I've lowered my dose and I've only made 4 entries in just over a week, so I think I'm doing quite well. I figure as long as I recognise the feelings I can understand them and cope with them. Thanks tho ladies, I'm so lucky to have you all.

Reastie, re housework, sometimes I Hoover the kitchen floor three or four times in one day and wonder why I bother! I must try to keep the house as decent as I can but since Noah's been around I've had to let it go abit, dh and I always chat about the new sofa and flooring we can have when the boys are older!

Wiggles. I dread the birthday thing when Ben starts school, who to invite, who not to invite, where to have the party etc!!

Well, I enjoyed my pizza and garlic bread, AND half a tub of ice cream! I'm such a piggy!

Forgot to mention that I'm taking my mum to see Westlife in concert tomorrow evening. She is so excited, she keeps texting me!

Have good evenings and may we all have good nights.

Emski76 · 16/05/2012 21:12

X posted Ledkr. Firstly, your scary!
My dh said the same as you. I have honestly felt ok for at least six months. I will always suffer anxiety and depression but after having CBT therapy I feel that I can cope with these feelings so much better.
But following your advice I will see how I am for a few days then make an appointment with my GP to discuss what to do next.

tadjennyp · 17/05/2012 00:19

Glad you took the day off reastie as you do sound exhausted. x

Well done debka - nearly 6 stone is awesome. Feel guilty about that slice of cake I just had now. Wink

I'm sorry you are suffering from anxiety again, ems. Hope the doctor gives you some good advice.

That makeover party sounds great wiggles. My Anna would absolutely love it too.

Well I stupidly managed to crash my car this morning. In the queue for the coffee hut. Hmm Took the front end off, leaked fluid everywhere, damaged the car in front. It needed towing to a garage where it will be for the next 10 days at least. That was a very expensive cup of coffee! Shock The ladies there were very sweet and one of them drove me and the boys home. Very much looking forward to dh coming home on Friday now.

americanexpat · 17/05/2012 09:14

tad - oh no! I hope you're all OK. Do you have a second car or are you stuck at home? I'm curious to know how you crashed your car in a queue though.

reastie - I'm with wiggles, my cleanliness standards have dropped. Can you feel Alice in the kitchen where it's easy to sweep? Maybe get a dog who can help with the tidying? Grin

wiggles - We'll be a 4 hour drive from my family - which is close by American standards. Much better than 24 hours and a very expensive flight. Grin

reastie · 17/05/2012 09:34

tad hope the car gets sorted quick. What's a coffee hut then? I'm imagining a mcD's drive through but for coffee Grin

american we have a cat but he's not very good at eating up food Alice has dropped. I'm wondering if all parents with young children who work and have spotless homes must have cleaners to help them as I'm finding it impossible to keep things properly clean. Trying especially hard ready for the royal visit of all the inlaw family at the week end, have even finally bought a lampshade for the hall which has been shadeless for over a year since we moved in Blush . My standards have definitely already been lowered though Shock plus DH is good and does help but he never does nearly as much as he used to. Can you believe we used to both spend Saturday mornings cleaning the house and I also used to spend 2 mornings a week when not working just cleaning pre preg, and that was in our old house which was half the size of this one. Hence my ishoos with never getting on top of anything.

delia and borg how are things?

ems Envy of your take away fest last night. Enjoy seeing westlife Hmm (I used to be a westlife groupie about 13 years ago Blush but give me take that any day in preference Grin )

wiggles that party option sounds good. I'm dreading having to do the whole birthday party thing when Alice is old enough hoping I can decamp and hold them at my parents' house as they have a big music room which could hold a decent number of children

debka · 17/05/2012 09:55

OMG reastie I do nothing compared to you, vacuum every couple of days, dust when I realise Imogen has been practising her writing in the dust on the shelves Blush, windows about once a year.... I do wipe the table about 4 times a day and tidy toys every 10 minutes though, and Air The House regularly too Grin

tad that must have been scary, glad the ladies helped you out. Have you a courtesy car?

Thanks for all the well dones, bear in mind though that I'm still in a size 20 so I'm not exactly svelte yet Grin.

emski your takeaway sounds gorgeous, most important thing is that you enjoyed it.

Sabine seems to be over the croup but she is just cough cough coughing constantly now, all night, all morning as well now. Poor baby, there's not much I can do for a cough is there? I gave her some calpol.

americanexpat · 17/05/2012 09:59

reastie - I'm pretty sure that's exactly what a coffee hut is, like a drive-thru Costa! It's so much more difficult to keep a house tidy with a little one. One of us has to watch L at all times so we have more mess and half the cleaning power. Our house desperately needs to be hoovered but I usually don't have time before L goes to bed and can't do it while he's in bed for fear of waking him. At this point I'm pleased if we're on top of the washing and the kitchen sink isn't full of dirty dishes.

reastie · 17/05/2012 10:02

deb that was pre preg, I never have time anymore Sad and yes it's all in the airing of the house Wink . Btw you are now officially slimmer than me so if you need somewhere to donate all your fat clothes too Wink . 6 stone is amazing though - you'll be on the cover sw magazine next thing we know Wink . Sympathise with coughing - Alice and I are both coughing although not nearly as bad as the bean I think. I am off out in a min to buy some honey for us to see if it helps soothe the throat - if I can the posh manuka stuff as it's suppose to be anti bacterial Grin

wigglesrock · 17/05/2012 11:40

tad pants to the car, I backed mine into our next door neighbours when Anna was small Blush, but Mr W was able to replace the lights and they were really good about it. Mr W slipped them £40 and nothing more was said about it, sometimes it helps to have slightly shady neighbours Grin

I hoover about once a day, dog - wooden floors [yuck] but A helps me, she likes to sit on the vacuum cleaner while I pull it about!

reastie I had a few parties for the girls at my Mums, it was bliss, they have a great back garden and she got to control the food, she has much more sophisticated tastes than me, it was win - win Grin

blizy when is dh back?

I booked Sofias party but in the end she wavered and we went for the arts and crafts activities. I was really pleased as thats something she would rather do, but felt the peer pressure to go for the make-over. I'm sure the parents will thank me for their children bringing home a painted mug/keyring, even more beaded necklaces Grin

Its really good value, £8.50 a child, for 1 hour on the fab soft play/slide/adventure playground, then the activity which thankfully the staff do with them and then their food. The food is lovely, all fruit kebabs, wraps and the like, apparently the sausage roll, cocktail sausages, chese and pineapple hedgehog is frowned upon these days Grin

Have just got back from a mammoth shop at Asda and Tescos Shock, skint again. I think my pay lasted all of 4 hours.

The girls are finishing school in 6/7 weeks, so its school trips a go-go. Sofia is off to the zoo next week, she is sooooo excited Grin

blizy · 17/05/2012 13:53

tad oops about the car, Im with reastie How did you manage to crash in a drive throug? I'm glad you are all ok though.

wiggles he is back tomorrow. The party sounds fab!

I had a busy day, took baby mindee to his swimming lesson (above and beyond the call of duty) he is snoring his wee head off now (wish I could do the same). School pick ups in about 40 mins.............
I finally sent my passport renewal away today (dh has been nagging me for months to do it).

emski Please be careful with your AD's and listen to mama ledkr, hope you are feeling better today.

tadjennyp · 17/05/2012 19:30

I managed to crash in a drive through because I am a blithering idiot, Sad . The car is automatic and I looked across to the passenger seat and my foot slipped on to the accelerator. 40 quid wiggles? Grin My car will be in the workshop for a week and a half. It's amazing what damage you can do travelling two metres. Shock It's just a piece of metal and I am really grateful no one was hurt.

That party sounds lovely wiggles. I bet they'll have a lovely time. Smile

Sorry I haven't replied to everyone. Need to go and pick A & E up now in the hire car. Confused Speak later!

Deliaskis · 17/05/2012 19:52

Hello everybody, sorry I've not been on for a while, working in an open plan office is most inconvenient!

I miss catching up with you all - get some updates from fb but it's not like being on here every day.

jen ooops and a little bit sniggering about your car. I mean not really sniggering, it's just crashing in the drive through is a tiny bit funny, at least it will be in a few months or so! Seriously tho at least nobody was hurt.

blizy busy day indeed, does baby mindee like swimming?

wiggles Sofia's parrt sounds lovely, I'm glad she chose what she really wanted.

reastie glad you got a bit of time to yourself, it's really important and you deserve it. V jealous of bath and book tho!

Deb and others, C is also cough cough cough cough all night long. Weirdly, it doesn't seem to wake her, we're both lying awake listening to her, but I kep going in with medicine etc. and she is either genuinely asleep and snoring or she's old beyond her years and is pretending to. It seems mean to leave her, but equally seems pointless to wake her properly to give her not very good medicine, and make her fully aware of how rubbish it can be trying to sleep with a cold/cough.

Emski go easy, you don't have to push yourself to do this if you're not ready, but way to go if you are.

expat and most other people except maybe wiggles you are much cleaner than me. We have a cleaner come once a week for full proper clean, and in between, we obviously do the kitchen but not a lot else Blush.

C is doing great, so much fun these days, I heart her so much. Sometimes I just watch her for ages doing her busy jobs and I'm in awe of how amazing she is.

Love to you all and all the babies (soooo not babies anymore) and others.

Dx

Four4me · 17/05/2012 20:50

Hi all, I am alive just mega busy with Thomas having lots of hospital appts at the moment and my Dad had his spinal op on Tuesday. Will be back to catch up properly when things calm down.

Think of you all often Smile

ledkr · 17/05/2012 21:28

Hi all.
reastie I used to get called Mrs Bucket by my mates my house was always immaculate, one of the things i have struggled most with is keeping things up together since dilly came. I find the constant mess a nightmare and its the one thing me and dh row about. He is good at housework but seems not to do much when he has d which leaves me to catch up on 2 days of housework. I feel annoyed cos i know d is hard work but i do think he spends alot of time on pc or tv Hmm He is also very negative about a cleaner but i dont care and am getting one anyway.

Does anyone elses baby hide for a pooh? D gets into a really small space by the sofa and waves goodbye as she sinks down behind it,i hear grubnting then she comes out stinking! This is every morning after her bottle Shock

Im watching hoarders reastie that will make you feel better about the housework.

reastie · 17/05/2012 21:30

Evening,

Taking ages to write this so prob be very xposted.

delia completely Envy of your cleaner doing a proper clean every week . We once looked into a cleaner but we live in a stupid little village and all the foreign probably illegal cleaners we could find didn't drive and the agency people were just Shock so expensive plus I'm a control freak and got in a flap about people touching things in my house

tad that sounds like an expensive mistake re: pressing down on the pedal. Must feel so annoyed with yourself. To a lesser extend but a couple of times I've scratched/dented my car by not seeing the walls of drives and driven into them Blush

Thought this may make you all Grin . DH told me he was going to the loo earlier (standing up style) with the door open. He heard alice pottering about behind him then next thing he knows he sees her face popping up underneath his, ahem, manly bits Shock Wink . Luckily disaster averted and no wee went on Alice's head.

I have made a list of everything to do tomorrow afternoon in prep for the royal in laws family visit for DHs bday, I'm tired just looking at it Hmm

reastie · 17/05/2012 21:35

Xposted

four4 hope your dads op goes well - keep us updated

ledkr nope, Alice will poo in front of anyone and everyone Blush . But still likes making lots of grunting noises and usually squats down for it. Haven't watched horders but have a neighbour whose house is just like the ones on these shows Shock . In my old house he was my direct neighbour and I found it a great soundproofing between thin walls him having so much stuff Grin . Btw my DH is the same when looking after Alice. He's good on tidying but I don't think it occurs to him to clean things. I can't remember the last time he dusted or cleaned the bathroom Hmm

blizy · 17/05/2012 21:44

Tad- oops!

44me- hope your dad is ok? How is Thomas? You must be exhausted.

Interesting evening for me, I went to my old high school for a farewell reunion- it is being knocked down and had an open evening for past students. It was really quite fun and great catching up with some old faces. Grin

ILovePonyo · 17/05/2012 21:58

Hi lovelies, I am here just not v good at posting at the moment...

tadj oh noooo, cars are great but so expensive when they need fixing arent' they :(

reastie my dp is fab at cooking but also very good at making a mess and no good at clearing up, grr. My house could always do with more cleaning, especially as we are thinking about selling it soon so I want it looking perfect Hmm If we had a cleaner I'd worry about them thinking me grubby so would clean up first, hm maybe thats a good idea then Grin

deb and delia yes to a coughing baby keeping me awake not themselves, suppose its better that way!

A is waking at 7am now which is much better than 6, how is D doing ledkr?

Hi everyone else, I m going to go because I've decided to watch Inglorious Bastards and its all subtitles Grin I'll keep lurking though!

ledkr · 17/05/2012 22:04

44 That sounds like a serious op,hope its straightforward.

blizy Any old flames? Grin

reastie D once tried to kick dh's willy,he was having a bad day and she wouldnt be put down so he weed whilst holding her and she made kicking movements towards "it" with a disgusted look on her face.

Had a chat to ella today she knows about periods so we touched upon-well shagging. She listened intently before calling me a freak and telling me not to be ridiculous and to never talk to me about anything so vile ever againConfused

ILovePonyo · 17/05/2012 22:04

Oh I meant to say, A got called 'spirited' today, it means she was being a PITA doesn't it Grin
