Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tadjennyp · 11/05/2012 06:31

Good night needto! As long as you don't start calling me dogger or bight, we will be fine. Computer is running out of battery, will post tomorrow!

Emski76 · 11/05/2012 07:32

Damn just lost a post.

Needto and Ponyom re one child. We only wanted one until I got pregnant with Noah, mostly so we could give Ben everything, such as university etc. re playing we thought we would just invite friends over all the time! People always seem to have an opinion, I know my mum did! I just told her to piss off!

Led, glad your ok.

Yes, our little ones do seem to be quite fiery don't they.

Catch y'all later.

reastie · 11/05/2012 08:02

ponyo and needto intended only child household here too but I often battle with myself about am I doing the right thing and is it fair on Alice Confused but tbh I don't know how much of that is me and how much is expectation from other people that I will have more. I've been trying to think of combacks that I'd be too scared to say anyway , this is the best I can do 'my dh is infertile, dd/s is the result of a one night stand' 'what this child? I found them looking lost in tesco last year, thought I'd give the parenting malarky a go' and 'actually, the world is becoming dangerously overpopulated and if statistics and predictions are correct we will not have enough resources to keep the earth habitable so tbh I feel I'm being responsible by only having one child, it's those people who have more than one child who arn't thinking of others '. Obv I'm not actually saying those with more than one are irresponsible, just trying to give ideas to scare the old biddies off . I find it quite Shock that people can be so judgemental knowing nothing about someones circumstances as to how many children they have.

Right, rant over, off to work!

americanexpat · 11/05/2012 09:25

I don't understand why other people are so invested in how many children we have. Confused We want to have at least one more, because DH has no siblings and my sister isn't intending to have children so L will have no close cousins. I would love to be pg right now but we decided to wait with the move. I have found myself reading the pregnancy and breastfeeding boards though. Blush

reastie - the very first time I did the Shred, I was really sore (couldn't walk down the stairs without pain) for three days but kept doing it. I was really surprised how easy it seemed after a few days.

blizy - I'm so sorry about your friend. Is this the one you were in the EPU with a while ago? (Trying to remember the details, just remember that you were v supportive).

Ahem, as a Feb baby myself, I have to say that Feb babies are perfect. Grin No, L is definitely a challenge but I don't have another baby to compare him to. He's very "spirited" (code for pain in the arse).

RobinSparkles · 11/05/2012 09:49

Fwiw, even though I have a sister, I didn't have any siblings to play with when I was a child. By the time I was old enough to play she was a teenager so she was off out with her mates after school and then she went to University and left home so I was like an only child anyway.

I've always been really good in my own company. I love having Alone Time! All the sibling sets I knew, when I was growing up, hated each other and I used to think "thank God I don't have someone fighting with me all the time!"

I'm often careful about asking others if they are having more as you never know their situation.

debka · 11/05/2012 09:58

I think I have the exception that proves the rule here- S is a really easy, happy little soul. She has her moments but it is most definitely the 3yo with Ishoos here!! Sorry everyone!

Re only children, I always wanted more than one child, I come from a fairly big family and the idea of just one child is a bit odd to me. That said, you have to do what you feel is right. I'm not very money orientated and have never considered the financial aspect of things Blush we just muddle through. My 2 wear mostly hand me downs and it doesn't bother me at all, but now I'm wondering if it'll matter to them when they're old enough to care. Ah well, maybe we'll have won the lottery by then and they'll still be wearing hand me downs because I hate shopping Grin

Ooo DH is winding me up atm, he is just so noisy, eats like a washing machine, shouts down the phone, coughs like a 40 a day smoker, has the tv on all the time at top volume. Angry where's my nice peaceful house gone??

blizy · 11/05/2012 10:14

Some people just dhac (don't have a clue). It is of nobodies business how many children you want. I have lost count with the number of people asking me if I will try again. I would love to have 2 more, like Debka I grew up with a large family, I have 6 siblings and couldn't imagine being/ having an only (living) child.

American- yeah, it is the same friend. I desperately want to see her but she is not up to visitors which I totally understand. Thinking about sending her some flowers or chocs.

Alfie had his injections this morning and he bit the vetBlush. He is playing away with a Kimble tag younger on clothes. Hmm.

Hope you all have a goo Friday. X

americanexpat · 11/05/2012 10:17

Tbh, I never really considered them playing together, only that they'll have close family later in life, when DH and I (and possibly my sister) are aging/ill/dead. It's a lot of responsibility for one person to shoulder. Not that I expect L to be our carer, just that it takes an emotional toll too.

debka - noisy eating is my bugbear. Angry Previous annoying visitors were like that and put me straight off my food.

I'm quite jealous of reastie and deb with their free magic pants. Envy I think I need to get some, if I wear anything without a waistband I look about 20 weeks pregnant. Sad

MizK · 11/05/2012 12:14

Only child people - its your business, cheeky feckers should mind theirs! Tbh if C was my first I would probably have stuck at just one - textbook crazed Feb baby that she is. 15 months and still not sleeping through, dammit! Ps I am a Feb baby and was apparently the most hellish little monster of all time when young. My mum sees every misdemeanour my children commit as karma biting me firmly on the arse :)
reastie and deb enjoy the free magic knicks, let us all know if they are worthwhile.
blizy good luck to alfie with his jabs x
Righto, enjoy Fridays everyone. I am trying to get the house perfect so I can do nothing all weekend. Going to have cheese and wine with the girls later and had to buy a strawberries and cream Wensleydale out of sheer morbid curiosity. I am confident it will be rancid but feel the urge to try it! X

RobinSparkles · 11/05/2012 14:07

MizK can you come and do mine while you're at it!

Debka you might regret saying that when terrible twos are in full force Wink.

DH says I'm a noisy eater Blush. I can't help it and the fact that he's pointed it out to me has made me really self conscious and the more I try to stop being noisy the worse it gets, iyswim.

Blizy your friend knows that you're there when she needs you. You're such a good friend to her.
:o at Alfie biting the vet! Pay back for the injection!

Well I've survived my first proper week at school :o

Four4me · 11/05/2012 14:30

Hi everyone, have been busy and not got on here much this week! Each time I tried to catch up I got broken off and came back to be even more behind! Grrr RL!

reastie hoping you aren't to achey after Shredding? Well done. Big re DH hope you are ok, others have given you good advice. We're here for you babe.

Yeah robin to the first few steps. So ace, the drunken baby look!

deb ace with your weight loss, well done you. Archie disproves the feb baby theory too, he is soooo laid back. He just sits in his cot sucking his thumb if he wakes up for god only knows how long. He loves sitting in his highchair watching the world go by in the kitchen.

blizy poor Alfie for jabs and poor vet!! So sorry to hear about your friends baby, hope you are ok? Get to it this weekend girl Grin

So exciting that you will be trying for baby once you are moved American

needto loved your photo on fb that the others 'liked' am going to friend request you. My photo is a close up of Archie at about 7 months old, need to get it changed to something up to date. Boo to the early wake ups.

Have a super evening mizk am Envy home alone for a few days with my brood.

ledkr a few of my mates were at the police thing yesterday, must admit I rarely see the news. Hope the gas expolsion has caused the minimal poss damage.

wiggles Isabel was over this weekend, lovely to see her. Hope all the girlies are well?

emski photo please. Loved the Disney photos, my friend is in Florida at the mo. I could eat your Noah, he is so cute. And of course grown up Ben. Didn't show Tom the Buzz photo, he would have passed out!

ponyo hope you are ok? Thinking of you.

tad hope your gang are well? send some heat over here.

borg how are your friends babies doing?

new dad congrats (I was justonemoreplease)

Phew! Hope mn doesn't crash before I finish!!!! All good here, busy with my sis over. My dad is having spinal surgery next Tues so everyone is a bit flappy about it. He has had three back ops in the past, this one is having three discs removed from his neck, they are going in from the front and removing some Boney growths too. He is not the best person to be under anaesthetic for long, high bp, over weight etc and he needs good neck movement as he only has sight in one eye so driving and general life requires a lot of neck swivelling!!! So fingers crossed is goes well. All my mum is bothered about is that she wants to go on a WI day trip on Thursday that Marjorie payed for in her will when she died Hmm

Have good weekends all. It is the May Day village fête here on Sunday, dancing around the May Pole, cake stalls etc

reastie · 11/05/2012 19:26

blizy I'm so sorry about your friend, how sad for her. I'm sure she appreciates your support and friendship and I hope you both have beautiful little babes in your arms very soon. How is Alfie cat after his trip to the vet?

Well, yes I do rather ache after the shred Blush but not as much as I thought, I can tackle the stairs no probs, just a bit stiff. All ready for my next meeting with Gillian tomorrow Hmm . ledkr how is c25k going?

four4 hope your dads surgery goes OK and your mum gets her obv v important WI trip

robin well done for surviving your week at school

blizy · 11/05/2012 19:35

Robin- yay to Lottie walking! How did you fun work?

Reastie- Alfie is zonked out again, going for the record breaker I think. Grin

I have the docs next fri for my bloods. Still feeling and looking rubbish. I doubt Dh will want to to dtd with a spotty snottery wheezy mess.Grin. Just waiting on fil coming to visit (the joys) I'm in my pj's wrapped up on a blanket on the couch with Alfie snoozing on me and I'm not moving, don't care that I'm a mess. With any luck he will take one look at me and run scared!Grin

Ledkr- any news about the explosion? I hope no one was hurt.

I defo think there is something about feb and feisty babies, my niece is a feb birthday and a complete Tasmanian devil.Grin

Mizk- enjoy your smelly cheeses!

Hope all the babies are well and give Alfie a run for his money in the sleep stakes tonight.Wink

wigglesrock · 11/05/2012 19:39

Evening all

Has been the worst weather here, almost glad to be at work [I said almost Grin) and now its feckin' lovely Shock Mr W working this wekend as well so we're like ships in the night at the minute. He dropped A and O off at my work just as I finished and went on his way to work for the evening.

Four4Me Grin at your Mum, I do believe I have mentioned that my Mum was most put out that Olivia was due the week she was on holiday and she couldn't let her friends down, I hasten to add the holiday was booked after she knew Os due date Hmm

blizy very sad news for your friend xx

RobinSparkles well done on your first week Grin

To all you people being stressed re "are you only having one?" I have a phrase for you - "feck off, you nosy dick" Grin, works for all situations. I will swap you a "just the one?" for "oh, did you have another girl?" - cue sympathetic head tilt at Mr W

ponyo I have a June, October and February baby, Feb is definitely the most spirited Grin.

Right off to rustle about the freezer for dinner but think I might settle for peanut butter on toast - this is my favourite thing about Mr W not being here in the evenings, I can indulge my true lack of culinary desire and I can watch music channels - apparently "its just noise" [eye roll]

ledkr · 11/05/2012 19:59

Pah! My spirited baby got up at 5am.she has whinged and destroyed her way through the day,i have been very busy with ds hospital and dancing and visiting nan and dh was away so i am beyond tired.
I have read all your posts but please forgive me for not replying,im having wine and fajitas then off to my pit. Dh has blacked out the window in her room with anything he could lay his hands on,she has black out blinds but the light still seeps in.
I have been out chasing magpies too as they were trying to eat my baby starlings in my roof the bastards,i broke the hosepipe ban to spray the fuckers, Grin

ILovePonyo · 11/05/2012 22:03

5am is just toooo early ledkr, A was awake at 6 which is still too early but reading that I feel grateful for the extra hour! She was yawning at 9am too, v annoying. How is your ds doing?

wiggles I like your comeback Grin It makes me feel abit sad when people assume the husband wants a boy/wife wants a girl, especially if you already have two girls shock horror, how did Mr W respond? Would love it of he said "I know I'm gutted" with a straight face, that would shut them up Grin

blizy aww at alfie, he sounds so much like a baby ie the big sleeps and playing with anything but his toys Grin hope you;'re havng nice snuggles tonight.

Hiya Four4 and hope your dad is ok on tues and all goes well. Mayday fete sounds fab, especially the cake, yum!

Mizk is C still having a bottle or three at night or just waking up now? Nightmare though, A has slept through quite a few nights recently How was the cheese?!

Robin I like alone time too, dp is always out at least 2 nights a week and I love it! I quite often want to ask other mums if they're having more (and often do) but more out of curiosity, especially if they say they only want one too.

Hi everyone else, A has had her haircut but as my fb friends will know its more of a mini-snip, the lady just cut a fringe in so its more of a hair 'do' Hmm Looks cute though, I should have asked for more to be chopped but didn't idiot
Off to bed soon, am tired as always so night all :)

ledkr · 12/05/2012 07:52

Well 6.35 is a great improvment so the 4 towels can stay at the window untill i make my blackout screen.I went to bed at 9 a combo of extreme tiredness and too much pinot grigio Grin so had a great sleep.Off to gym today when ds gets up to sit on for his sisters.

When my bil and dsis found out they were having a boy,bil said to dh doesnt every man want a girl Shock to a man with 1 dd Hmm

Of course my first family was all boys so i had my fair share of ridiculous comments,it drove me mental with rage, yes id have liked a girl too but that didnt mesn i wasnt happy with my 3 sweet little boys and they played together well and support each other now.

I always find its the smug ones with "one of each" who make the comments too.

Well as usual im the first one posting so im off now to change nappy and find something she will eat and not throw.

reastie · 12/05/2012 11:58

Morning all,

ledkr 6:35 sounds positively like a lie in to me compared to what you've had to put up with early wake wise Grin . It's funny how everyone thinks you want one of each isn't it.

blizy has Alfie woken up yet?! Did FIL stay long in the end?

ponyo I love Anyas haircut. And she always wears such nice clothes too - where do you get all her stuff from?

I like alone time too but never get any Hmm

mizk we are awaiting with baited breath the cheese update

Well, DH popped out to visit his Nan in a nursing home. Said he would be quick and back by lunch. Just rung saying he's going out for lunch with his M & D (surprise surprise I expect his mum had planned it all out as that's the type of thing she does), lonely old me left at home with Alice and no car and nothing to do. We still arn't really talking to each other after the incident the other day. He said he doesn't understand why I'm still off and that he's not in a bad mood now (great!!! Till next time that is...), I've told him if he thinks he can keep behaving like he has and it's OK as he's not always in a bad mood I don't know if I can live like that Confused

blizy · 12/05/2012 12:58

Reastie- well do e telling Dh you can't live with his moods. Your mil sounds like my fil. He has Dh working with him today, sprung it on him last night and he couldn't say no. Bear in mind he has been working away all week and is going away again on Monday. Oh and it is my fertile time.Angry oops, sorry for the rant Blush.
Alfie is awake, although he was still asleep at 10.30pm last when I went to bed!

Ledkr- yay, for your kinda lie in!

I love anya's hair too. Fab photos, espesh the one with her funny faceGrin.

Gig to go get ready and the house presentable as mil is coming round to do the gardening< disclaimer, we dont ask her . She lives it but lives in a flat do treats our garden as hers.> suits us fineGrin.

blizy · 12/05/2012 12:59

Oh ffs, sorry for the typos - phone going mental.Blush

ILovePonyo · 12/05/2012 15:22

Hi all, A keeps toppling over and bumping her head today Hmm

Ledkr you're very good with all your gymming. I went swimming yesterday, just need to keep it up regularly.

Reastie thanks Smile and most of As clothes are from the big 3 - tesco, asda and sainsbos Grin plus we have some generous friends and family.

Angry at all the annoying pil, I feel for you reastie and blizy.

A is putting things into a little bag and taking them out again, cute, she does play on her own for a while now and then but if I go and try and do anything she follows me and cries Confused

Hope everyone is enjoying their day Smile

ledkr · 12/05/2012 19:13

D takes a handbag everywhere we go,it has odd things in it and she is very protective of it.

Im not sure what is happening around here but 2 men have been arrested nearby for making bombs!!!! A whole area has been evacuated too.Me and dh thought it our public duty to investigate and waved at the tv cameras very mature eh?

Took Dills and Els and dgs on the steam train today, dills was underwhelmed and reclined on the seat eating a whole mini tub of ice cream, growling at us if we went near it to help Hmm

Am cooking curry for dinner and looking forward to the voice.

Did week 2 of the c25k Grin

reastie Thats waht pil would do for dh,just be glad you weren't asked.
Dh stayed with them on Wed night after his march in London and when we chatted on the phone mil interjected at every oppo so i made him say he loved me haha. She shouted in the background "dont worry ill feed him" I said to dh that i have no interest as to whether my ADULT spouse eats or not but he would pass on the message.

ledkr · 12/05/2012 19:20

ponyo d too, seems happy as long as im around, good excuse to sit on arse I guess.

wigglesrock · 12/05/2012 20:22

reastie poo to your pils Grin

ponyo we have some lovely little handbags here, my dds have a nicer handbag collection than me Shock. Anna carries her wee backpack around when we go out anyway, we don't need the baby bag anymore. So its 2 nappies and some baby wipes and we're on our way [relief]

Most of As clothes come from the big 3 too Grin with a smattering of M&S.

blizy hope you and dh find some time Wink, see my polite euphemismsGrin

This is the only Saturday night I'm not working for a few weeks, so we all decamped to our bed to watch the Voice. A didn't join us, Olivia got bored after about 5 mins but Sofia critiqued everything Shock Olivia then started to be very annoying challenging, well she was ok but after work this weekend I am much too tired for "why don't we have 3 arms?" Grin, "I would like 3 arms", "Please Mummy" Shock, and my personal favourite "they could grow out of my clickclak armpit". I think Sofia is now slightly frightened to go to sleep Grin.

We're supposed to be watching Moneyball this evening, not sure if I could be arsed, not much of a Brad Pitt lover Shock

ledkr · 13/05/2012 08:35

wiggs I still love the idea od taking els to bed with me for a bit of tv but after 5 mins of incessant chatter and idiotic comments i wish i hadnt Hmm

Well d woke at 7.10 Shock who would have thought it was a simple as the light waking her. Me and dh feel like different people I just hope it lasts.

It sunny here,we are off on a dancing run then to town for a mooch and to buy the stuff to make my black out screen.

Some terrible news over the last few days about children dying its so upsetting. Makes you feel gratefull for life.
