OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ILovePonyo · 08/05/2012 21:48

MizK ah yes raisins may well be a good distraction, I will stock up :) To be honest I'd let her carry on bashing the tv except I think it may well topple over onto her head! She is v v stubborn though and I am a softy

ledkr · 08/05/2012 21:57

ponyo Sorry but Id never forgive myself if i didnt tell you. Some children die every year from tvs falling on them. I remember a safety talk at the childrens centre. I have a zero tolerance policy on the tv for that reason. You can buy straps btw.

ledkr · 08/05/2012 21:59

Btw.D gets behind the tv and I snuck up and peeped over the top last week and she is literally beaming with anticipation of me coming to get her,she looked all nervous as if it were a game of hide and seek Hmm

NeedToSleepZZZ · 08/05/2012 22:03

Oh no, I can't watch any programmes about ill babies

ponyo b had a phase of hitting the television, I did what mumma ledkr said and it did work... Eventually Wink Glad work helped, best thing ime.

Another clingy baby here except it's OH that's getting the special treatment, not me, I'm way too boring.

mizk how could you refuse such ^an appealing offer from your DH? Grin honestly, I am so glad OH isn't drinking anymore (not that he was up for dtd when drunk anyway).
I think b may be like your friend's child in being able to strip now

reastie sorry about a not enjoying tumble tots, is there anything quieter in your area that she could go to? B has had his fair share of bumps with older children but still tries to grab them so think we have the opposite problem tbh Confused Really hope DH kept his temper earlier, feel for you going through this x

ledkr I meant to ask before but has d had anymore carsickness episodes? Hope it was just a one off, I told OH about it and he got a bit worried about it happening to him whilst alone with b (I don't drive). How is work going? Are you still enjoying it?

blizy how is Alfie doing? I ventured over to the litter tray as you've got me thinking about kittens now and read the lovely post about coco the abandoned kitten.

Hope wiggles is okay, haven't heard from her for a bit.

not much happening here, OH is out at aikido and I'm going to go to bed in a bit to catch up on some sleep. Cough is improving now, but bet b keeps me up instead tonight.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get your child to eat more than pasta and pesto, peas, yoghurt, porridge and cheese? Seems to be the limit here (other than biscuits and crisps Blush) now. tried to give him some chocolate buttons last week but he just threw them on the floor so I had to eat them. he's even getting funny with toast which he has loved until now, he's started just sucking the butter and marmite off and throwing the rest away Confused

ILovePonyo · 08/05/2012 22:05

Ledkr I remember at least one news story about tvs falling on babies, very true, and sad. Straps you say, might look into that. Grin at D 's anticipation of you finding her, A does that too, so funny isn't it Smile

ILovePonyo · 08/05/2012 22:11

Hiya Needto hm no great advice from me - the only thing I can think of is just keep trying him on new food? Today A amazingly chose cous cous over wotsits Shock shovelling it into her face then chucking it everywhere. That's not v helpful sorry, but A often turns her nose up at my lovely home cooked slop food and would live on choc buttons and snaps if she could.

Hope your early night helps you feel bette soon Smile

blizy · 08/05/2012 22:44

Needto- Alfie is good, so funny and mad! I read the thread about coco, so cute. I hope she is alright. Are you wanting a kitten?

Ponyo- I agree with ledkr about Anya and the tv.

Reastie- hope you are ok?

tadjennyp · 09/05/2012 01:11

Hello everyone! Hope you are all asleep, especially the babies. Tonight is the fourth night without dh and there is no wine or beer in the house! Shock I've been pretty calm though and trying to keep my days full as much as possible. Has been 28C today so easy enough to get out.

S is unfortunately like the rest of the family and also good at climbing. He has been known to climb onto the TV cabinet and try to pull that down too.

Other just offering something new to eat every few days or so, there's nothing much you can do needto. They all go though phases.

Hope you are ok reastie.

blizy · 09/05/2012 07:34

Hi tad, here have some Wine. You must have your hands full with all of your little monkeys! How long is you Dh away?

Just waiting on mindees coming, hope it stays dry today I have baby And fancy a walk to the park with him.

Poor Dh left at 3.30 am to drive down to London for one day of work. Right I'm off to drink copious amounts of coffee before the troops descend.

Hope you all have a good day.

ledkr · 09/05/2012 09:05

tad Id like to sympathise but you lost me at the point you said its 28 grrrrr Envy Grin

needto Still loving work yes,im so lucky to get to know some really amazing people. Re food,D is very hit and miss, sometimes will eat loads then another time nothing.I have no advice other than I was told they will never starve themselves so just offer a few choices then take it away. Also look at his milk intake as he maybe filling up on milk.
The car sickness hasnt returned as yet btw.

Off to toddlers soon then we are going to get D's passport photos done Grin should be a laugh.

americanexpat · 09/05/2012 10:07

tad - 28 Envy I'm still wearing my winter coat!

needto - I don't know if you figured it out but I'm your new friend on FB. Grin B is gorgeous, love his hair. L is still bald on the sides. I agree with the others about the food. L has been known to lick the tomato ketchup off his food then hold it out for more to be applied. Grin He's also started resisting his highchair (except when he's climbing into it Hmm) so he eats at the table sometimes. I think the nursery is going to start putting him at the table with the other children today.

reastie - when you said that woman, I thought you were talking about Gina Ford She Who Must Not Be Named on MN. Grin

wigglesrock · 09/05/2012 10:23

needtosleepzz Grin, still here, having computer issues and have just lost a very fascinating and insightful post Angry. Off for a catch up!

Emski76 · 09/05/2012 12:03

Hi all
Need to, re food. Toddlers are very good at using food as a means of exerting their independence. Noah is starting to do it but I usually find that giving him a spoon and asking him to help himself helps or giving him something to hold helps, tho sometimes he will spit the food out after!

Ponyo, re babes not doing as their told, I think professional Ledkr had the right answer and I think it does work eventually!! Or as MizK said giving the something else to think about. At the moment I ask Noah to 'look for Mickey Mouse', it tends to work!

Have dumped the boys at nursery today and have a day to myself, yippee! I've had my hair chopped off to just below my chin, I love it. It's quite a big change tho. Not sure what the boys and dh will think.

Hope everyone is ok. Having trouble keeping up with all the chat!

americanexpat · 09/05/2012 14:04

Emski - bet you look gorgeous with your new hair, hopefully your DH knows the only correct response is to tell you so. Grin

Speaking of food and control, apparently L had a bit of a tantrum yesterday at nursery while having his tea, threw an apple wedge at one of the staff members and hit her in the back. Shock The manager started laughing so he started laughing, now he'll probably think it's great fun to throw food. Hmm

MizK · 09/05/2012 14:09

emski Hair pic, hair pic!

tad urgh to no wine after looking after DCs by yourself for days! If you knew the crapness of the weather here at the min you would not mention 28 degree weather, I think my eyes filled up with jealous tears at that!

expat haha imagine Gina Ford brand curtains! Altho I'm surprised she never marketed her own range of blackout blinds given her fetish for them. ( Gina if you're reading this I actually secretly love you :) )

Nothing exciting to write today, was unwisely drawn to the feminism board last night and have been quite unable to tear myself away. I may start addressing DP and DS as the patriarchy soon. Big waves to all, have lovely afternoons :)

ledkr · 09/05/2012 14:27

Oh brave brave mizk I love the fem boards I always feel all militant afterwards.

wigglesrock · 09/05/2012 14:38

emski I was so pleased when I cut all my hair off last month, have got it cut slightly shorter again.

ponyo you have my sympathy re A and the tv, Anna has just moved slightly away from torturing the tv but still has a penchant for the remotes Grin Although she was with Mr W in the kitchen yesterday and he turned around and she was brandishing a kitchen knife Shock Apparently she can now reach the counter tops!

NeedToSleep Somedays Anna eats very little and then other days she can munch away. She isn't a big bread eater, whereas I can't keep the other two in bread. She mainly eats pasta, cheese, anything tomatoey, mince and fish, although she has yet to say no to chocolate Grin She also cries for oranges, grapes etc, then sucks the juice and spits the skins out - tis charming Hmm

MizK [whisper] I was a bit disappointed by Homeland ending Blush The acting is fantastic but really we're no further on than we were at the start of the series. He may/may not be a baddie ( I would still put some money on double agent) and she is isolated, alone and dealing with her illness. Although I got caught up on the first episode of series 2 of the Killing and thought it was fab.

blizy hope you're still on a caffeine high Grin

reastie · 09/05/2012 14:50

needto I'm with you on the eating. Alice can now decide if she likes a food or not based solely on how it looks and she feels at the time and just throws anything she doesn't fancy on the floor without attempting it. It's a nightmare Confused . No advice really, sorry. I often just go through everything in the cupbaord on by one to find something she will eat, which is usually biscuits or some such junk. I keep feeling really bad her diet is so rubbish Blush

wiggles it's so annoying when a tv series ends and you still don't have a conclusion isn't it

Alice not had a nap this afternoon yet - she always has one after lunch. Walked her for an hour, AN HOUR I tell you to get her to sleep but she was having none of it, so this afternoon will be fun Hmm

Have just booked ALice in for her chicken pox vaccine in a couple of weeks time Confused

ems are the boys back yet? What do they think of the hair?

reastie · 09/05/2012 15:30

Please ignore this if you like but I don't have anyone around I can rant to at home . Our buggy is falling apart a bit - I looked a few weeks ago at getting a new one but DH said no. So yesterday DHs bad mood was due to fixing punctures in one of the wheels (a recurrent prob now). Long story, he didn't do it properly so still a puncture which means I can't use it and have had to use the maclearan today, which she won't settle in very well and not very comfy hence no nap this afternoon (remember I have to walk her to sleep and she will only nap in her buggy). Rung Dh this afternoon to warn him wheel needs fixing today so he was prepared to do it when he came home and I didn't get lots of eye rolls when I told him when he came through the door (and also he sometimes has the option of extra work at the end of the day which if he knew he had to do the type he wouldn't do). He was really rude to me in how he reacted - not what he said more how he said it

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/05/2012 16:12

reastie just been thinking and can you find the instructions on how to fix the tyre punctures on line? If so, and you think you can do it, then why not wait till DH gets home and hand A over and do the tyres yourself? It might make you feel better about yourself and show DH that these things can be sorted without swearing and shouting Wink. I only say this because I know it makes me feel so much better knowing how the boiler works etc and I think it scares OH a bit!

american yay! I knew it was you from the references to moving Grin L is so gorgeous, love the pic of him on the slide, reminds me of B.

blizy yes, you have got me thinking about a kitten now damn you Wink Alfie is so adorable and I miss having that little hot water bottle effect on my lap in the evenings (OH is too heavy!) purring away. Did you hear anymore about the last minute drop out mindee? Did they tell you why? Very odd imo.

Thank you for all the advice re eating, today he has had double porridge, some sweetcorn rings, half a fruit puree and a small yoghurt. He refused the sandwich, banana (not a surprise there) and wanted biscuits but I said no . ledkr you may be onto something about looking at his milk intake, he has about 12oz a day and think I need to cut out his midday one. God, it's good to know I'm not alone with this stuff, I imagined everyone else's toddlers eating anything and everything Grin

Well, feeling loads better today but couldn't last, OH is off to the docs this pm as he thinks he's broken his foot. He has history in this area, has broken so many bones in his youth through skateboarding and is always dislocating fingers at aikido and normally doesn't bat an eyelid so think it must be very painful. Oh well, fingers crossed he doesn't need to go to a&e for an x-ray or won't see him till tomorrow....

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/05/2012 16:15

Oh meant to say mizk, I get drawn to the fem boards quite a bit and find them uplifting but feel too uneducated on the subject to contribute!

and ems, HAIR PIC Grin

Emski76 · 09/05/2012 16:20

Reastie, you really, really need to tell dh how he makes you feel. I know your similar to me in your sensitivity and I hate anger or confrontation. Dh has only blown up in front of me twice and the second time I told him exactly how scared and upset it made me feel. Please don't hate me for saying this but how it makes you feel makes his behaviour become borderline abuse, please talk to him about it.
On a lighter note, I love the image of Alice eating her snack in front of the tv. Noah watched the night garden after his nap yesterday eating his body weight in grapes!

Was thinking of watching Homeland but can't bare it if it doesn't end up with a conclusion. I stopped watching Lost because of the same thing. Dh has got the old Silent Witness' which I'm going to start watching soon.

Oh, I still love my hair!! It's a miracle for me, I usual get a bit doubtful after having a hair change, but this time I think I actually might look a little but pretty!

Ala, MizK and Ledkr, I might visit the feminist boards later, will come on here after and start raving!

reastie · 09/05/2012 16:33

Thanks guys. DH just rung to tell me he will be home late from work today Hmm . This is a step forward as usually he just turns up late and doesn't think about the implications on me not being able to cook dinner etc. Just as well it's bakes potatoes in the over today for tea Grin . ANyway, he wasn't exactly friendly on the phone, but then never is Confused . I dont' know how much to put down to it being him being off or be being high maintenance.

ems you must add a hair picture Grin

needto hope OHs foot is OK. DH broke his toe a couple of years ago - apparently it was very painful. Hope he gets back soon all sorted and you have lots of painkillers in the cupboard (and that it doesn't stop him with any of his ben duties)

reastie · 09/05/2012 16:36

Oh yes, and to cheer me up I got an email this afternoon saying I've been selected to take part in a mn panel testing m&s shapewear. I get a £30 m&s voucher to spend on underwear to test Grin Grin

blizy · 09/05/2012 17:14

Needto- go on get a little fur ball. Mines is attacking my arm just nowHmm.

Emski- happy new hair cut!Grin mi e needs done desperately, nor been cut since my wedding.Blush

Reastie- you have to tell Dh how he makes you feel. It's not fair on you or Alice the way he reacts. I hope you are ok? Oh and yay, to the undies testingGrin.

Ponyo- how are you feeling?
