Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ledkr · 27/04/2012 22:07

I use the pushchair for as long as it suits me and the child even sometimes they walk mostly and can use the buggy for the shopping.

Had a better day ta,took D to music and went for lunch with dh.

I have ds here and we've been doing forms, having a rest now. Just wanted to claim the worst Mum of the week by saying I dont use stair gates and Dilly goes up and down stairs as she pleases Hmm To come down she slides on her belly feet first Blush I am very bad. disclaimer,i do shut the door to stairs when I cant follow her around.

RobinSparkles · 27/04/2012 22:28

I've only ever been to one baby shower. It was for my friend who was pg the same time as me. I loved it as it made me really excited for my baby!

Deb, it sounds promising that Imy has eaten a little bit and no sick! it's horrible when they're ill :(

I wanted to ask those of you who might be experienced with children's birthday parties about party etiquette. Isabel has had parties in the past but they have just been small ones with my friend's children. Easy peasy invitation list.

This time I've said that she can invite 15 school friends including children whose parties she has been to. However, one of the parties she went to was a joint one where there were two birthday children (a boy and a girl who are cousins and are both in Isabel's class). I know that she is friendly with the girl (they went to preschool together and she mentions her in conversation etc) but she isn't really friends with the boy. She never mentions him, hasn't asked if he can come and I imagine that if he had had a party on his own, and not with his cousin, that Isabel wouldn't have been invited. Should we invite him? It just feels a bit ridiculous seeing as they aren't really friends Confused and because it's such a small number. It just seems like it's going to be all of her bestest friends and then X. If it was the whole class then it wouldn't seem so weird...

I'm rambling now and just thinking aloud. We'll probably invite him just to be on the safe side anyway...

RobinSparkles · 27/04/2012 22:36

Ledkr we don't have stair gates. L couldn't use stairs and was happy to sit downstairs, wherever she was left, if I needed to go upstairs. That was until yesterday! I was pottering about in my bedroom and I had left her downstairs (I know bad parent but it's usually ok, downstairs is pretty baby proof and like I said she never went near the stairs, they were of no interest to her) and suddenly she crawled into my room!!!!! Shock now she's like a rocket up them and is obsessed with going up them so we need to sort some out pronto! I did have some but we gave them to the ILS when I stopped CMing. They wanted them for DN but we'll have to ask for them back.

ledkr · 28/04/2012 08:08

Well with a joint psrty they each invite their own friends i assume.Dont invite but have a quiet word with the Mum o explain that she was only allowed a few and they arent really special friends. Surely he wont want to come if they arent mates and i presume his mates wont be there either.

D woke at 7 yey! hope shes back out of it now.

Deb hope Imy feels better,d seems to have yet another cold.

Have a lovely weekend with dh off at last. I am off to Sat morning pics with Ells at 10 to see horrid henry then hopefully a bit of a relaxing weekend.

Will check in later.

MizK · 28/04/2012 14:48

Hey dolls. Hope all having nice Saturdays.
reastie so sorry to hear about your Gran. Hope you are OK. When my Grandad died I was shocked by how much it upset me, even when people have been ill for a while the loss is still terrible. Big squeeze love.
blizy Well done for booking appointment. I suppose if it is to do with weight than thats something he can help you fix? There's no shame in it whatsoever, remember how much a certain group of ladies admire you and care about you :) Hope the doc helps and I have my fingers crossed for you.
robin I would assume that your DD was his cousins guest before? Agree with led just have a quick word with the mum. FWIW my DS would be mortified if he was at a girls party without any of his boisterous friends to help tear the place up!
deb baby showers are a bit twee arent they? But I do admit I loved my surprise one - esp making my friends race each other drinking wine out of baby bottles :) Hope Imy feels better soon.
ledkr thank god you confessed to no stair gates! We don't use them and Cass has been going up and down for months now. Mainly supervised obvs (most of the time!)
Am so shocked at how grown up Cass is now. She seems to understand everything we say. She goes to her high chair when she wants meals, she puts her toys away when we say, its such a change in a couple of months - she's an actual little person now! So cheeky and bossy tho, she rules our house with an iron fist!
So lazy today, currently in the middle of watching several eps of I Used to Be fat on MTV. Hoping it inspires me in my bikini diet - so bored of dieting now :(

ledkr · 28/04/2012 14:58

mizk-Im not one for fire guards either tbh, they just need to learn Grin

I had a baby shower but didnt ask for pressies,we had a raffle to buy a special bike for my neice who has downs,it was really nice to get everyone together and get excited about the babba coming soon.

WeAreBorg · 28/04/2012 15:03

reastie my deepest sympathy to you for your granny, hope you are feeling okay.

ponyo how are you doing?

needto meant to say it's nice to see you, I was wondering about you and your DH. I did Grin at "other hair"

ledkr I'm pleased you don't have stairgates either, I don't. As of a few weeks ago we had a massive gap in the spindles on the landing which was obviously very safe Hmm. N potters up and down the stairs and is steady enough so not sure whether there is any point getting them now?

debka hope the girls are okay. You make S walk everywhere? I don't have the patience, I walk everywhere very fast (am usually late for something or other) and N just wants to go in other peoples gardens so it usually doesn't end well. reastie I would be lost without a pushchair, might need a new one too as ours is crap.

44me I would certainly talk to you at a mothers and toddlers group, and am going to brave one next week, I think I just need to go a bit more. And not be so grumpy.

blizy good luck for the docs, will mrblizy be required to "perform" for the appointment?

We went to see the Avengers film last night, it was great, I heart the hulk.

wigglesrock · 28/04/2012 15:58

WeAreBorg sorry pet, Mark Ruffalo is on my list, you'll have to wait your turn Grin

blizy yay for the Drs appt, well done xx

RobinSparkles the party I had for Sofia when she was in her first year of primary school I had the whole class, the perils of having the youngest in the year Grin, but she has been to loads of "girls only" parties and if we have one this year she's just inviting the girls and she's been to boys parties in her class this year. Hope that makes sense it reads a bit muddled Grin

We have stair gates but don't baby proof anything else Blush, althought they may be a bit redundant soon what with all the climbing Shock

reastie I've had a Petite Star Zia or some combination of those words Grin since A was born and I love it. Olivia would still use a buggy if allowed, there was a minor foot stamping incident at the zoo last week when she realised she would have to walk around herself!!

I've been at work most of the weekend and Mr W has taught A to say "love you too" Hmm, well he can make her out he says, she's making various intonations but thats as far as I would go Grin Although she says shoes a lot, usually so you can fetch them for her and then she can throw them at you/the dog/the tv etc

ponyo xxx

RobinSparkles · 28/04/2012 17:07

Hey lovely ladies!

MizK - drinking wine out of babies bottles? Sounds like a great game! :o

Ledkr - we don't have fire guards either. We have one of those chavvy wall mounted electric fires though, which doesn't have a flame. It's more like a heater really. Both DDs are always taking the pebbles off it and playing with them Blush

Wiggles - that's so cute of Anna.

Borg - I think that toddler groups can be hardto crack at this stage so I think that you are brave! :o I found baby groups easier as people tend to be friendlier because they are thereto make friends and everyone is new. With toddler groups some of the people have been going for years and aren't interested in talking to new people. I went to baby groups with DD1 and then went to toddler groups with people I knew and I've just carried on going to those groups with L. Luckily, the town I live in is pretty friendly though so most people are nice.

I'm currently sat making myself sick on Hersheys chocolate bars, chewy fruit salads and sour apples! A new "old fashioned" sweet shop has opened in our town and I've decided that it's my new favourite shop :o. No bikini diet for me today! Sod it, I'll be good starting from Monday!

ledkr and blizy Grin

Every time I've tried to get on mn this week end it's been offline Hmm

Hope everyone is well and Robin has now stopped eating her body weight in chocolate and sweets Grin

wiggles Hmm to anna saying love you too - is that MrW getting overexcited or is she really clever? Alice can only manage to say 'cl' for clock and 'g' for gone, so the concept of love you too seems very advanced Grin . She has recently developed a baby sign for tv so whenever she does it I have to put her tv program on Hmm .....she's started doing it alot though - think I have a telly addict in the making Blush

debka · 29/04/2012 19:33

aloha.

I'm watching Tremors 4, it's amazing, giant worms, crinolines, red indians, this film's got it all Grin

My poor little Beana Lean is poorly now :( temperature, random crying, snot, no appetite Shock, random flicking of tongue on top lip and Lady Macbeth stylee rubbing of hands Hmm

Hope you're all doing well :)

mizk we're organising my sister's baby shower tomorrow, I'll remember the wine/baby bottles idea!

robin Envy at sweetshop

debka · 29/04/2012 19:34

reastie well done Alice, she's got the important signs down pat now- TV and food Grin

blizy · 29/04/2012 20:07

Oh no poor Bean, hope she is better soon.

Reastie Grin at Alice

I am on the couch with my 2 boys snuggling me watching the hulk.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

wigglesrock · 29/04/2012 20:16

debka poor Beanie babe Grin, although you've made her sound a bit reptilian Grin

Robin buy me some Kola Kubes from the shop or shaaaap as I would say, much to my Mums horror Grin

reastie MNs been a bit flaky for me too, offline a lot, do they not know how important we are! Anna will give hugs and kisses or big loves as my mil calls them if asked. I tell her I love her about 10 times a day Blush and she always hears the girls or Mr W say it and my Mum and mil tell the girls all the time they love them, we're a big lovin' family Blush Grin

ledkr any luck with ds dla form? I saw your thread last night, but have no real advice just sympathy. A life-time ago Grin I went to CAB and the advisor filled in the form for me.

blizy nice weekend with dh?

My parents bought Anna a trampoline today! Apparently she lurves the one at toddler group, so now my Mums house is as much fun as playgroup Grin. My mums competitive edge knows no bounds Grin

ledkr · 29/04/2012 20:18

Alreeeeeet!

blizy anymore spotting? I wish dh would snuggle up with me hes having a busy day today doing--well stuff really Grin

reastieDilly was signing please today everytime she heard the rustle of a packet haha. She makes herself very understood but i dont think i could actually quote her.She says Ella and Mumma and Dadda and Ninny(nanny)and does shout dh's christian name just how i do GrinShe signs well though.

Im killing time untill homeland starts,is it the last one tonight?

deb I hope poor bean is feeling better tomorrow,d is a snot fest but not ill with it.

ledkr · 29/04/2012 20:23

wiggs Am going to order it by phone tomorrow then get a cab appointment.

blizy · 29/04/2012 20:25

Ledkr - af arrived in force yesterday. I spot 3/4 days before af which I don't think is normal?

Wiggles Grin at your mum competing with toddler groups, she will start her own one soon!

ledkr · 29/04/2012 20:57

Blizy, maybe but i find mine do randomn things anyway.Recently they have been taking ages to actually stop, seem to tail on for ages,
Dont worry about the drs they will be nice id imagine. When i went about my back just after d was born and i was about 13 stone,i said to her,I guess you will say its my weight and she said "no,skinny people get bad backs too" Grin as long as you are not morbidly obese then you wil be fine. Get some clomid and have twins or even more. Be like bogof Grin

wigglesrock · 29/04/2012 21:01

ledkr second last episode tonight Shock

blizy · 29/04/2012 21:13

Ledkr I'm 13 stone, but I'm only 5ft 1in Blush. Big diet and exercise plan starts tomorrow. I am determined, there will be no more alcohols for me, I have stopped driving caffeinated coffee for months now and I am rattling with vitamins! Grin

ledkr · 29/04/2012 21:35

wiggles Arrrrrrgh! Not Brody surely,i am shocked.

debka · 29/04/2012 21:40

blizy I dream of being 13 stone!!

wigglesrock · 29/04/2012 21:51
