americanexpat · 26/04/2012 15:43

reastie - I'm so sorry about your granny. My grandmother died of cancer and even though you know it's coming, it's so difficult when it finally does.

Shock at nipple pinchers.

ledkr - Poor you. Sad I hope you get some support with DS. Is he still living with you?

blizy · 26/04/2012 16:31

Reastie - so sorry to hear about your Granny. Of your Dh doesnt understand about you needing space away from the pils send him here! Serious though, I hope he is looking after you, sending hugs to you my friend. X
Ps code brown was from baby!

I see ledkr, hope you manage to get the form filled in ok. Are you feeling better this afternoon?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 26/04/2012 18:22

reastie, I am so so sorry about your granny, american is completely right when she said even though you're expecting it, it doesn't make a jot of difference when it happens. You desperately need some time for you you know, I truly hope DH understands this and tells your PILs not to come.
Thinking of you xxx

tadjennyp · 26/04/2012 18:54

So sorry about your granny reastie. Take some time for yourself.

What a horrible morning, ledkr. I hope Dilly gets a good night's sleep and is more herself tomorrow. Good luck with the DLA form.

I hope you had a decent day in the end four4, despite your friend cancelling on you.

Happy birthday wigglesgran!

Nothing much happening here. I ought to go and plan tonight's lesson. Hope you all have a good evening.

reastie · 26/04/2012 19:31

Thank you for your kind comments. I've gone really shaky and funny tonight Hmm . Is it bad that I haven't even cried yet? I feel like my inside is crying but on the face of it I seem normal IYKWIM. I've been trying to cheer myself up buy buying stuff online Blush - those of you fellow jojo fans there's a midseason sale. I think it's just started recently as I got some really nice bits pretty cheap and there's quite alot in stock, not like the normal everything decent out of stock.

ledkr Grin to running over PILs in your campervan

ledkr · 26/04/2012 19:54

reastie Our grans are such a big part of our childhoods its horrible.I dont get to see mine too much now she is in a home cos its too tricky with the baby and she is so confused its hard to stay for long.I was looking for her make up in the bathroom for ages as she asked me to do.When i got back into the lounge she was applying it Hmm

Ds is living in his own place but spends lot of time here and relys on me for most of the medical stuff.
He was premature and deprived of oxygen and it has been said that he has mild cp but not properly diagnosed so he needs quite a lot of support for a grown man.

wigglesrock · 26/04/2012 20:02

reastie so sorry about your granny xxxxx

Grannys lunch still going on Grin, everyone minus my granny and the extra old relatives piled back to my Mums - everyone is still there Shock - think it may be a long night Grin Not home long, will catch up later xx

Four4me · 26/04/2012 20:35

Xx

Four4me · 26/04/2012 20:38

My sky plus is recording the Tonight programme - is Britian running dry? So funny on our second week of piss wet through days Grin

ILovePonyo · 26/04/2012 21:15

Reastie I'm so sorry about your granny. I dont think there is any certain way you should be feeling so don't feel bad, just look after yourself. Stupid pil they'd better not upset you. Have a hug from me Sad

Ledkr can only second what people have said about dla, worst day, and if the worst happens and he gets turned down appeal it ASAP.

I'm on my phone because dp is hogging the computer Hmm so can't remember anything sorry. So here's more about me Blush earlier today - I was upstairs with A and getting ready, she was off crawling around her room. I realised it had been too quiet for a few mins so went to look for her, not in any rooms upstairs, I looked and I'd left the bloody stair gate open Shock and there was A at the bottom of the stairs playing with my keys, she'd crawled all the way down herself safely Confused I'm not 'woo' but thought my dad had kept an eye on her, I could imagine him saying "that's the one chance you get, now keep the bloody stair gate closed" Grin
Told dp about it and he just gave me a patronising lecture about keeping stair gate shut Hmm

Off home tomo but will be lurking.

wigglesrock · 26/04/2012 21:51

ponyo I've done that before with the stair gate, you get such a horrible sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach for ages afterwards don't you? Hope home visit goes well and I think you're meeting the vicar to go over arrangements - hope you get through everything xxx

reastie will be thinking of you over the weekend sweetheart, there is no right way to mourn, just remember how much we all care for you xx

Am working tomorrow day and evening and Sat, so hope everyone has lovely pil free peaceful weekends Grin

blizy much love as always xx

blizy · 26/04/2012 22:45

Ponyo- I hope the funeral goes well tomorrow and that you get things sorted with Anya. I will be thinking about you. Big hugs and hand holding for you xxx

ILovePonyo · 27/04/2012 00:54

Blizy funeral is next fri Smile but thanks. Hope you're ok too.

Wigs well at least it's not juste with stair gate! Always good to know Grin

I'm up because A is inexplicably awake and talking away non stop, what is going on?! She won't be left in her cot so I'm up with her whilst she eats a biscuit and chats Confused

Emski76 · 27/04/2012 07:24

Morning all
Reastie, so sorry to hear about granny, it is hard even when you know their poorly, it's still awful in the end. Dh needs to tell pil to stay away. Can you just go out if they do come?

Nipple pinchers? Noah uses mine to pull himself up on me! Ouchy ouch!

Led, I didn't know things were so tough with ds at the moment. Big hugs from me. Sorry D was so moody yesterday. It's awful when they wake up moody and you just know the days going to be rubbish.

Ponyo, I think we've all had those moments when our heart stops with our little ones. Ive had many!

Well, this afternoon I'm off to Brum with some friends to see New Kids on the block and Backstreet boys in concert. Sad I know but I loved them when I was younger. I paid to meet the New kids a few years back, shame on me

blizy · 27/04/2012 07:36

Emski- shame on you indeed.Grin enjoy your night.

Ponyo- oops Blush. I hope Anya went back to sleepHmm

Ledkr- how are you today?

Wiggles- your parents are a pair of party animals! < wonders if they done an all nighterWink>

Reastie- how are you feeling today? Remember everyone grieves differently, just go with how you feel.

Hmm, my sieve Like brain has stuck again!

Dh is home later yay! Once I take kids to school that's me for the weekend.Grin
I'm going to phone doctor today, hopefully get an appointment for sometime next week.

I think I have the daftest cat ever, he loves to be picked up and snuggled! He will cry at my feet, if i don't pick him up he just climbs up and nestles himself on my chest. Grin so cute Grin

debka · 27/04/2012 10:10

reastie what a shitty time you are having :( so sorry to hear about your Granny. Big hugs to you xxxx

blizy have a wonderful weekend with DH, will you be going out?

emski I am HORRIFIED at NKOTB, how old are you woman? Shock Grin

ledkr poor you with whingey pants, is she getting her molars through? S who is normally the happiest little soul turned into a demon for about a week (sorry) when hers were coming through.

ponyo bloody hell, there is NO WAY S would have got down the stairs safely, I think your dad was looking out for her. Hope you're holding up ok today xxxx

Had a peaceful hour this morning crystallising flowers for a cake I'm doing on Sunday, it's great now Imy's at pre school! S is asleep in her cot- I have a cot sleeper, which suits me fine, she will sleep in the car but I don't think she's ever slept in the pushchair. Actually she rarely even goes in the pushchair, she walks everywhere slave driver mummy

americanexpat · 27/04/2012 10:21

Emski - Grin My sister went to one of their shows and said it was fab. Have fun!

blizy - Good luck with the GP and have fun with DH. Wink

wiggles - happy birthday to your granny. 1500 euros! Shock

It's actually sunny today. Shock I had to walk home yesterday as the car was being serviced and pushed L uphill in gale force winds. Hmm

Our next house guest is arriving tomorrow. It should be good, we all lived together at uni so I know he's not horrible to live with. Grin

reastie · 27/04/2012 14:08

ems did you mention bsb AND NKOTB?! Surely not?!!! They were my fave boy bands too when I was younger plus take that Blush . I went to top of the pops when backstreet boys were there and got nicks autograph it made my life at the time Blush . If only we lived nearer I would defo come with you Grin Can you tell I was really trendy as a teenager me Wink Grin

ponyo I haven't yet had that with the stairgate but it's my absolute panic. I have been known to check the stairgate multiple times as I can't remember if I locked it, then sometimes I find I forgot to check and it was open but luckily alice hadn't noticed. You definitely won't be the first or last.

deb you have reminded me re: pushchairs - those experienced mums - what age to toddlers approx stay in pushchairs for? It's just our lovely buggy is starting to fall apart and we are debating whether to buy another one or try our best to keep this one which really is falling apart to last a bit longer. We've got a mclearan but I hate hate hate it, have been looking into which one I'd get if we got a new one and the one that fits all the criteria is over £300 Shock . It is something we use mutliple times a day, especially as alice naps in it all the time, so getting a decent one from her and my perspective is important, so I"m not sure whether to bite the bullet and get it now so we get as much use as possible out of it before she gets too big or wait and probably have to get one later down the line which may mean less useage Hmm

blizy alfie sounds so sweet

Thanks for all your granny sympathies - I broke down last night - think I had been in denial all day. Feel exhausted today, have told DH no PIL at week end.

american hope you have a good time with your uni friend

debka · 27/04/2012 14:26

reastie Imy would still go in our pushchair if she were allowed, you'll still have a good couple of years use out of it so I would spend the money tbh. If it's still in reasonable nick afterwards you can always ebay it, or pass it onto a friend.

expat weather sounds grim, it's always windy here too as we're on the top of a cliff (sort of).

Poor Ims is poorly again, slept till almost 8 this morning, went to pre-school and then straight back to bed when she came home. I've just got her up and she's feeling sorry for herself on the sofa. Off her food too, please God no vomit tonight...

blizy · 27/04/2012 20:02

Uh oh Debka, I hope Imy is ok. Poor soul has had her fair share of bugs.

Reastie ime , kids are still in a buggy at 2-3/12 ish. Depends on how far you walk each day and the little ones stamina!Grin. Can you buy one second hand?

Well I have bit the bullet and have a doctors appointment for Tuesday at 2.30. So nervous. I will be so ashamed if he tells me itv because I'm a fatty.Sad

Waiting on Dh driving home, so bored.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

RobinSparkles · 27/04/2012 20:31

Hi all!

Reastie, I'm so sorry to hear about your Granny :(

What bad luck we seem to be having on this thread ATM :(

Reastie, DD1 was in the pushchair until just before L came along. She was 3 years and 9 months when Lottie was born. I walk everywhere and the walks to toddler groups/children's centres are really long and she wouldn't have managed it so she went in the pushchair.

What about an Obaby one? They look quite good - my nephew has one. I think they've used it since he just turned 1 and he's now nearly three. I don't know what your requirements are but they lie flat for naps. I think I'm going to be looking at selling my Mamas and Papas pram soon. I love it but it's just too bulky to fit in our tiny house so an Obaby one will probably be what we'll have instead. I'm sure the cheapest ones are about £70.

Blizy, good luck at the doctors!

Well nothing to report here! Been a long and boring week!

RobinSparkles · 27/04/2012 20:32

Poor Imy, Debka. I hope she feels better soon!

debka · 27/04/2012 22:01

blizy and robin thanks guys, she has been a poorly little poppet, now starting pre school she's getting all those bugs too. S woke up this morning with her face and hands literally dripping with snot . Ims ate a tiny bit of tea then bed with calpol. No sick so far...

blizy well done that's a positive step. If he upsets you I will personally come to Glasgow and kick him in the balls.

robin hope it's a long and pleasant weekend in the sparkly house :)

Hi to everyone else, hope you're having lovely evenings! I'm just back in from a rather American baby shower (mil who is extremely lovely is from Texas), we passed round baby blanket after baby blanket and oohed and aahed. My sister said the oestrogen levels were off the scale Grin
