kate your DS is very cute in his bouncer!

AWCH I had cheek fuzz before my first DD, but its has matured into a beard now, I could probably get onto Embarrasing bodies with it.

Mmmcheese I think I could possibly cope if it was lighter, I used to just bleach it to death until I discovered IPL.

oi IPL is light therapy for permanent (at least 2 years) hair removal

Welcome newt

seven Happy Birthday

Finally got my baby clips in the post, now lets see if they still mistake DD2 for a boy - ha! (I've given up with trying to convince people DD1 is a girl)

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 16:00

Oh, yes, tummy/ bottom wind here, too! DD strains to poo a LOT. We have just started mixed-nappying (finally found some softer liners: tots bots) and it is finally containing those morning poos. I have less washing with the cloth nappies! Confused

Mmmmcheese · 03/04/2012 16:23

newt welcome! Are you bfeeding or formula? If bfeeding have you had your latch checked or gone to bfeeding clinic? I have fast let down which creates loads of wind as DD gulps it down and bfeeding counsellor showed me a different hold/position that has really really helped. Still spend at least 30mins after each night feed winding though or DD grizzles all night.

mopsy I find gently pressing DD knees into her chest before each feed gets lots of bottom wind out!

jigglebum · 03/04/2012 16:45

Hi everyone, and welcome newt - have been reading but not had much time to post.

Freya had her 2nd lot of jabs today (bit late at 16 weeks) and is now conked out. Poor thing, she was beaming at the nurse whilst she jabbed the needle in and then screamed rather a lot!

Anyone else having the 4 month sleep regression? we have gone from 12 hours blissful sleep back to waking 2/3 times in the night. I think I might up her to 7oz bottles as she is now finishing 6 ozs 5 times a day.

DS has been at the gps for 2 days so life has been pretty quiet. he is back tonight and will probably be a devil tomorrow, as they spoil him. He had a hearing test yesterday and has mild/moderate hearing loss with his glue ear. Hopefully we will get grommets soon, before he starts school.

we are meant to be camping (we have a trailer tent) fri-mon but I think it is going to be too cold for freya overnight , possibly for ds too. the site is only 45 mins away so think i will come back at night with freya. if only the beautiful weather had stayed.

Hope all poorly dcs are better soon.

MissRee · 03/04/2012 17:05

Hi newt, welcome Grin

To those of you using Dentinox, how are you administering? Direct to mouth or mixed in with the milk? I tried giving it to Freya but I couldn't stomach the smell and she screamed every time I gave it to her! We had been using infacol (smells MUCH nicer) which seemed to work well until recently. She isn't bringing up much wind at all now but has started sicking up again. We previously solved this by moving up to the next size teat so maybe we need to do that again. I had noticed a pattern in that she's more sick after feeds where she had been trying to guzzle but only succeeding in deforming the teat.

With the medicines, I am a hoarder who keeps things "just in case they come in handy" got some syringe-type-things at the hospital when I had Freya and they were trying to get me to hand express colostrum (massively unsuccessfully). I used them with the calpol for freya and I'm sure you could get them from a chemist? I do need to get some nurofen for the cupboard though. Does anyone know if, like calpol, they do one for older (6+) kids? Should get some in for DSS as well really.

My biggest news is that I have NO bathroom at the moment. We're onto the buying stage of the process now and DP has just gone to get the new suite and tiles. I'm trusting his judgement completely as we're doing it on the cheap just to sell in a year or so. I just hope DP doesn't try and be creative with colour as he's colourblind we wanted to leave it neutral to sell Grin

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 17:41

jigglebum, poor beaming baby! And poor glue eared boy! bet the gps spoil him because of the ear problem, tho' : the sort of thing my MIL would do ... which actually upsets a child in thr long run,as s/he then has to go back go the old boundaries. (upsets said child's mother, too!)

seven77 · 03/04/2012 17:57

missree we add dentinox to the milk. We actually switched to it because she always managed to spit out most of the infacol.

plu sorry I can't remember how you're feeding, if you're FFing try giving some cooled boiled water. If she's really struggling running a clean finger around her bum hole (the things we do for our LOs!) while she's straining should usually make her poo. Also ask your HV or look online at tummy massage. It might make you feel better to know that until a couple of weeks ago (17 weeks) Eva was exactly the same and I was having to give her water everyday, she's now fine so I assume her digestive system has matured.

mopsy it doesn't neccesarily help with bottom wind but it could be caused by not getting rid of all of her top wind. Either that or she's just farty!

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 18:25

Thanks, seven. That did make me Grin; it reminds me of DD's first bath, when she was so surprised to be (back) in water, she pooed instantly!

msbuggywinkle · 03/04/2012 19:06

Figgy Total agreement from me, Catherine Tate was great. I enjoyed the change with an assistant who didn't fancy the Doctor!

lmf Really! Knitting pattern...I see knitted Adipose in my future!

Seven Happy birthday!

Newt Welcome!

Jiggle I am in denial re sleep regression. If I refuse to believe in it, it can not possibly happen!

We have just got in from the party, was brilliant fun. Someone had stolen the Scooby Snacks, they had to follow clues to fine them! Tired DDs now, I hope that bed time will be early-ish.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 19:18

msb really! It was on my old dreaded pc. Will see if any of my friends still have it:D

I am making sausage sandwiches. All will be well.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 19:19

Almost forgot:

Nothing like being thrown in at the deep endWink :o

KateM77 · 03/04/2012 19:25

Newt welcome!

Seven happy birthday

Air sorry you were having such a bad day, I hope it improved

Bee thanks. He makes the cutest happy noises when he's in it too Grin

Figgy I don't imagine we'll last that much longer before weaning either, certainly not if DD has anything to do with it - she tried to give DS some milk from her cup, and a piece of banana yesterday! Seriously though, whilst he's not as big as yours, DS is a big boy: 16lb 13oz at 15 weeks when weighed today. DD was 8 months old before she weighed that much and we started weaning her at 5.5 months.

msbuggywinkle · 03/04/2012 19:30

Found one...not sure if the link will work for people who aren't on Ravelry though adipose

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 19:32

Sausage sandwiches sound bloody glorious! Alas I have only frozen sausages.. I haven't christened dinner yet.
Met BennyBenBear for an impromptu lunch today, and for the first time our babes became really aware of each other. It was really sweet. Grin
Welcome newt!

Anyone else notice the early POAS Dec 2012 thread? our DC are last years news!!

Waves at Newt, our DS was the same with trapped wind (and constipation), we've put him onto comfort milk & he's much more comfortable. are you breast or formula feeding?

MissRee, I've been mixing everything we've tried (detinox, infacol, gripe) with the milk (not all at the same time obv).

Happy Birthday seven!

aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 19:46

Awwww, love the Adipose pattern, I SO have to take up knitting!!

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 20:05

Discussion about mat leave mortgages currently going in proprty/DIY, if anyone interested? Sorry, on phone and feeding at breakfast bar, si too contorted to sit still to do a link

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 20:06

Have to start a thread moaning about un-ergonomic and twattily fashionable breakfast bars...

NorthernChinchilla · 03/04/2012 20:10

Another morning, another poosplosion, another load of our bedding in the wash...

Sigh...

Even had to wash his blanky which I've managed to avoid doing, so he'd always have something that smelled of home.

However, DS has started laughing now, but the recipients have been my Aunty Jane, friend Becks and (three seconds ago) Des O'Connor singing Grin!

Hello again Plu, glad you're back.

So sorry we've got so many poorly babies and crap sleep. How's the wee octopus LMF? And hope it goes well at the Doc's BJR, let us know.

Now you see folks, that's what I'd managed to write at about 9am before looking up to see DS covered in blood.

After a few hideous WTF!! moments, I'd realised that the little nick I'd made to his thumb when cutting his nails had not in fact stopped bleeding, but had continued as I'd done housework. And so there were streaks across his face, in his ear, and all over his onesie. And of course I couldn't get the damn thing in the washing machine as it was dealing with the poo incident of earlier.

I then cracked some wall plaster in the front room.

This was all on top of the fact that we'd arrived late last night after travelling for six hours, and after getting up at 8 I had friend coming at 11. I am proud of the fact that all the clothes washing was done (all the above saved by Vanish!) and DS and I were both washed and fed and clothed, and the front room was acceptable by time said friend arrived.

So apologies for the massive post, but this is the first time I've gotten on today!

Thanks for the syringe tip aethel; we've tried getting the baby Ibuprofen but with no success, so will try harder, as one of those would be brilliant.

I have an image of you figgy dangling (or trying to dangle) your DS at the weaning people and being ushered straight in Grin!

Happy birthday seven, hope it was a good one.

Glad you've got a bit of support now scooby, and that you enjoyed the bit of downtime. It's amazing what you'll cherish in terms of 'time off' as a parent, especially when coffee, cake and papers are involved...

Welcome Newt, always good to have new people join!

Dear Bob Plu, are breakfast bars back in Shock? They are the very work of the devil.

There was a big chuckle session here this afternoon from DS, soooooo brilliant. I'm loving it now he's more of a little person, iyswim. Happy days!

KateM77 · 03/04/2012 20:29

Welcome home Northern. Very good effort with a post epic enough to rival plu!

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 21:19

Oi don't lust after the sammich, 'twas vile. Sausages were acquired on the basis of high net content. Meat must have been 90% rancid fat as they were vile vile vile. My kitchen still smells:( Going to trek to my usual butcher tomorrow and get a pound of his old English and do it right later in the week. Possibly with some crunchy crispy bacon and a drizzle of the juice from chopped 'matoes.

Northern He's alternating between cheeky high spirits and wheezy grumpster. Tonight he is chirpy and has gone to keep nicely. Am off to see if I can follow his lead soon, as my lungs finally feel a little less hippo infested:o

msb I'd not thought of ravelry, I visit so infrequently >_<

Will take a peek at the recipe (don't ask) tomorrow and if it seems me friendly I'll knit you one aethel

Right, I'm away to bed. Thank Bob for my stash of caramel eggs, as one of those has managed to cheer me up after the sandwich disaster. Pills taken, inhalers administered and new telly thoroughly sworn at (will explain tomorrow, when am less likely to swear) so that's me away:o

GeeandTee · 03/04/2012 21:28

I have name changed, was mm :)

Hoping for another good night tonight but not feeling overly optimistic! Anyone got any nice plans for Easter weekend?

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 21:30

I'm ashamed to be held up as an example of an epic po et ster: that is lost in time.

Speaking of being lost in time, I have been (somewhat blearily) watching stuff on the bbc iplayer, and came across the Lost Cities series, inclding one about Rameses the Great's capital, which was moved fro its original site (when that branch of the Nile silted up and the river course moved) to Tanis, of Raiders of the Lost Ark fame! The archaeologists found a pair of statuesque legs (heh heh) in a field in the original location!

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 22:09

Hmmm. Perhaps it was the wrong day to switch off the heating! It's wild here!
LO v unsettled this evening. I may declare it an early night.
(tescos finest Cumberland sausages now defrosting in't'fridge for tomorrow) Grin
