Do you just buy ibuprofen in the chemist or do you need a prescription?

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 09:31

And all the parents can say "if it wasn't for those pesky kids..." Grin

Isn't children's Nurofen ibuprofen?

aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 09:42

Love the scooby doo party idea!!

Ibuprofen is over the counter: suitable from 3 months onwards (and younger if prescribed by bodyweight by a medical type). The most popular brand is neurofen syrup and I'd recommend getting one branded bottle of this even if you plan to get the cheaper Boots' own ibuprofen from then on. This is because every bottle of Neurofen branded ibuprofen comes with a FAB free oral dosing syringe that we use for all our kiddy medicines, it's much more accurate than the rubbish spoons you get with calpol etc. also you can use it to squirt the med into the side of a cheek so they can't spit it out

ahem. Washing calls due to all over mummy and baby puke earlier in the morning...

mopsytop · 03/04/2012 09:45

Oh I already got one of those syringes with the baby paracetamol. It lives in the Milton solution for ease of access if needed!

Figgygal · 03/04/2012 09:47

I loved catherine tate in DW i thought she was the best assistant, cant stand amy pond dont know if its the accent but when they try to make her "spunky" she just irritates the hell out of me.

Lo and i are off to a weaning session at 10.30 i managed to get on this months even though we werent scheduled until May. I just showed them my 17lb 10oz 14 wk old monster baby last week at clinic and they've let us in early.

Mil has bought him some 9-12 mnth t shirts from primark and they fit Blush i blame primark Grin

mopsytop · 03/04/2012 09:48

Sympathies to all re puke and ploop incidents! Minimopsy did the worst poosplosion EVER last night. I had to cut her vest off her or there'd have been green poo all over her face. Was all over her body. GRIM! Used soap on her in the bath for the first time (apart from shampoo which I've used before of course). I guess at 15 weeks it's fine to use baby wash anyway?

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 09:50

mopsy it's available in the chemist/supermarket next to the calpol. You can get nurofen, calprofen and own brand:) nurofen has the syringe to dispense which is ace.

Adipose fans, there used to be a knitting pattern floating about in cyberspace...

AnAirOfHope · 03/04/2012 10:39

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 10:49

Can you get out of the house, Air? even oif you don't getany housework done, it will at least not create any more...

Perhaps visit a laundromat and hypnotise Hope?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/04/2012 10:51

Hey Ladies

Sorry I've not been around, not been able to catch up with everyone sorry i'm such a crap poster Sad

Life has been challenging with Darcie and now it's the holidays so trying to think of cheap things to keep her entertained without hearing I WANT or I DON'T WANT!

seven77 · 03/04/2012 11:26

dsm no need to apologise.

Sorry to all of those with sleepless/ill babies and poo explosions.

I think we might start weaning soon. Eva had her first night feed in weeks last night. She's now 19 weeks, I'll see what happens tonight in case it's just a growth spurt though. She had her last jabs this morning, it's my own fault for not looking in the red book but I didn't realise it would be 3 injections, poor thing screamed the place down! She's since had half a feed and is now asleep.

Now need to make some bottles then might go for a picnic. Off out for dinner tonight for my birthday.

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 11:34

Picnic? It's teeming down here! Happy Birthday! X

Oooh, birthday! Cake?

AnAirOfHope · 03/04/2012 12:00

Happy birthday xx

NewtTrapper · 03/04/2012 12:15

Hello everyone. New to MN but I have little girl (Daisy) born in Dec 2011 so figured this was a good place to start!

Daisy also very hungry (feeding all the time). Also having massive wind issues which are keeping her up all night :(. I've tried infacol etc but not much help, I guess I will just have to wait for her digestive system to mature a bit more. Other than that she is on good form very smiley so lots of fun to be around :)

PS Why are there lots of messages that say 'Marking my place'?

Kitty5824 · 03/04/2012 12:18

Happy Birthday seven

it's been a busy moring on here!

We've just done the round of DH's offices (he works for small Estate/Lettings Agent in South Manchester and has worked in all 4 offices at some point over the past 4 years) showing Seb off for the last time. We move on Friday! Well, Seb, myself, both cats and all our stuff will be moving over the bank holiday weekend. DH has another week at work so will follow us down later.

As I suspected the quiet pub lunch on Sunday was in fact a suprise party with the guys I worked with in my last job...really funny as it was in the pub round the corner from our office. We all used to drink there after work when we were youg free and single. Almost everyone is now coupled off with kids. Was a lovely afternoon Grin

Currently ironing DH's shirts that another friend washed for me (washing machine is definately dead. We've told the landlord not to panic about replacing it until we move out now) then I can pack the iron.

Will I get them done before Seb demands more milk.....not if I don't get off here Wink

Kitty5824 · 03/04/2012 12:19

Welcome Newt

We are just prolific posters, so we all try to "mark our place" on a new thread so we can find it easily Grin

aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 12:35

Hi newt, we all write strange things (especially on this thread, though i'm sure lots of others are the same). You may need to duck the odd flying as we slap naughty health visitors and other halves around the face with them when they misbehave, there's one spare for you should you require it.

I've got one of the youngest DS's on thread (13 weeks today Albert!) I suggested to the DDs we buy a choc cheescake in celebration of him being a quarter and they looked at me as if I was mad. Thanks girls! (sssh, I bought it anyway!)

Cheered up the DDs who are still in snot monster mode by a swift spot of bribery holiday magazine-buying (dr who magazine has a 12-set of plastic mini daleks and monsters this week, yay!) and my lovely brother is bringing over the cousins for a bit of a play, he insists the cousins have bombproof immune systems! Lets hope so.)

seven77 · 03/04/2012 14:33

Hi newt, have you tried dentinox, I find it much better than infacol.

It was looking rather grey so we had a garden picnic.

Figgygal · 03/04/2012 14:42

I and lo have discovered Timmy Time he is sat watching it while i have lunch (bad mum alert).

scoobyd00 · 03/04/2012 14:52

Happy birthday seven, enjoy your day.
Welcome newt

aethel surely choc cheesecake is required to celebrate every week!

kitty hope the move goes smoothly. Are you moving far?

Well I've made it to my parents and after 2 v disturbed nights I finally had a 5hr stretch last night. I used my newly found energy to go for a run this morning. Fingers crossed it wasn't just a one off night. Currently sat in garage getting car serviced. Never have I been so delighted to sit and wait for an hour. Visited costa first so I'm sat here with coffee, cake, papers and wifi and most importantly no DSs!

I'm another lover of the nurofen administer. So much easier than the calpol spoon.

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 15:06

Hi, NewtTrapper! so sorry to hear aboit wind; that's so painful and bewildering for the poor things!

mopsytop · 03/04/2012 15:18

Hi newt, welcome!

Dentinox you say seven? minimopsy gets bad bottom wind, does it work for that? Need to try something as she gets so upset, screeching and writhing, poor little thing.
