OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 22:48

Ooh, yes please lmf, though I won't hold you to it as we're all waay busy.. I think I still owe someone a mars bar from when i bet someone they would go into labour within 24 hours and they didn't...anyone remember who?

Thanks for the thread heads up plu, I will check it out sometime though I think we've decided to ignore the issue for now by delaying gojng on the market til I'm back to work...

air, can't you just use acrylic (artificial wool?) there's some lovely soft stuff out there, like super chunky, that knits up really quickly...

hawthers · 03/04/2012 22:56

grr more bickering with DH. seems we just get back on track and then the week kicks us in the nuts and when we've got the boys to bed all there is time for is a quick bicker, huff and off to sleep in separate beds still (combo of new job and two boys who are up in the night is the official reason for the spare room occupation but am not feeling too enthusiastic about resuming sharing 'my' kingsize any time soon).

AnAirOfHope · 03/04/2012 22:59

I think its the chemicals on some wool that im allergic to. I just go red and itch but as im not sure what im allergic to i tend to avoid it all!

Im the same with fruit i have to wash apples well or my mouth itches and watermelon its just a no no for me.

Im so lucky that air has no food allergies yet. I think its cos he takes after his dad more than me.

Plus im lazy i could just get my mum to make the hats ............

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 23:04

hawthers, we don't even see one another most nights (DS is v unsettled at night, so DH gets him in the spare room). Mornings are therefore sometimes the "solution"/ meeting time for us. Could that work, or is getting up early too horrific an idea? Sad

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 23:06

Here is the mortgage -in-maternity-leave thread for you to bookmark, aethel and, I think, OiMissus?

seven77 · 03/04/2012 23:18

hawthers sorry about the bickering. I don't know what to suggest but I didn't want to ignore your post.

air speaking as someone who is only allergic to a random medicine ethramyacin (and I don't have a clue what it is but it's on my medical records) I find it very odd that some people can have so many allergies. I once had a colleague and friend who had to go to hodpital after eating blackberries.

We had a great meal tonight though I'm now on my 4th glass of wine Blush. This may not seem like such a good idea tomorrow. A bit randomw but I have my first smear test tomorrow, i'm not bothered about having it done but am I likely to be sore afterwards? I should be fertile within the next couple of days.

hawthers · 03/04/2012 23:27

Thanks plu and seven just good to have a whinge after an evening of banging pots around.

TOTAL TMI Had my first smear in ages today and wasn't too bad. Wasn't particularly sore after. The nurse asked how the sex was and when I said it was uncomfortable she said that my cervix did look a little red and enflamed [blush[ she didn't say anything rose so I assume it will get better on its own... Her only comment was to give myself a break wrt shagging. Based in tonight that shouldn't be too hard to achieve!

Erm hi newt welcome to the thread Blush again

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2012 00:23

Hope still feeding

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 02:01

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 02:02

Ps erythromycin is an antibiotic. Its wot people get given if they are thought to be allergic to penicillin.

plutocrap · 04/04/2012 03:11

Gooooooooooooood Mooooooorning, Viet MNams !

(that would work so much better on NM! Or maybe I could go all Irish and say "Vietmams" ? What d'you think, mopsy and, is it rice?)

GeeandTee · 04/04/2012 03:20

DD made it to 2.15am for a feed. Not as good as yesterday but still a relief after months of every 2-3 hrs. Unfortunately I was awake from 1am expecting her to wake up! D'oh.

plutocrap · 04/04/2012 03:23

Hi!

,

BJR · 04/04/2012 03:27

DS still poorly :( all day has been getting through about 3 watery poo nappy changes per feed cycle going no more than 2 and a half hours between feeds. Dr didn't seem concerned said to bring him back if he gets worse or seems dehydrated.

So tired, DS lools likes hes about to dose off, going to try and get him back in cot! Then need to stick washing machine on as hes got through so many clothes he'll be naked soon. Hopefully can get back to sleep before the next explosive wakeup!

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 03:36

BJR hope the sleep is a decent length one with no poo at the other end!

We're on boob two, as apparently bopping one's arm against the side of one's crib is the end of the world

Onwards, with squash, ibuprofen and a sneaky biscuit (packet says food, I rest my case).

BeeMyBaby · 04/04/2012 03:41

DD2 has wind or something bothering her tonight, she's been screaming at 1am, 2.30 and now at 3.30am.

Anyone else tried a bubble travel cot? We got one from gumtree last night after sudden inspiration that DD2 would need somewhere to sleep on our holidays... DH thought the woman who he bought it from seemed nice and well to do, with a good home so didn't bother checking it at the time but when we got home there was loads of vomity stains on the mattress, she obviously never bothered using a sheet so we had to soak the mattress for an hour in the bath and now have it hanging on the radiator to dry - really hoping its good and worth it.

Also, another question, anyone ever use iron on tshirt transfers? Got one for dneice's bday but pondering getting DD1 a few for her plain tshirts as anything with a character means less screaming, do they wash off quickly or do they stay on fine so long as they don't go near the tumble dryer?

hawthers are you still having to wake your ds2 for feeds all the time? I only had to do it for a week and I'd practically said I wanted out the marriage to DH as I wasn't thinking straight and needed sleep/support.

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 03:52

Bee I got a koodi ridiculously cheap in tesco and it's ok. If yours was cheap I'd see if you can afford the little inflatable mattress too, as if it's for more than one night it's a bit spartan:) If not, could you butcher an old yoga/camping mat (use the included mattress as template) just to give a little more support:) Ithervthan that I've found it ok. Ideal for when I've been at a friends and he needed a nap:)

plutocrap · 04/04/2012 03:58

Hope the poofest stop soon, BJR; that's a dangerously vulnerable position to be in: machine on and more poo on the way! Shock

Wise label-reading there, LMF! Wink

Bee, what a disgusting surprise!

GeeandTee · 04/04/2012 06:21

Does anyone else's LO's joints click a lot? DD's do, and I brought it up with both GP and paed and they both checked her hips v carefully and as the hips don't click they're not worried. It seems to be mainly her ankles, and also shoulders and hips. I can feel the click as well if I'm holding the limnb at the time. Paed just said "some people's joints are just clicky" but I find myself worrying about it sometimes...

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 06:47

Not my kids, but I've clicked all my life and not had any major issues with it:)

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 07:16

bee, we got a bubble cot thingy from Littlelife, looks OK for inside use though would def want extra mattressing if we used it camping. Furtunately ours came without vomit motif

I tried iron-on transfers from ebay: depends upon what you want from a teeshirt really. Almost all of them only work on white tees, and with gentle machine washing inside-out they last a ehile but the designs fragment after 6-20 washes, esp at the corners. Having said that, you do get unusual designs. DD1 has a "mahna mahna" (doo dooooo do do do) monsters logo from the muppet show that's one of her favourites..

Braindead this morning, LO was up at 1 and 4 but took forever to feed and settle. Need Brew and then another Brew......

aethelfleda · 04/04/2012 07:21

Hi gee, clicky general joints is not harmful, though overextendable joints (hypermobility) which runs in families, can give problems later, raise with GP if that's a concern. The eception as LMF says is clicky hips:'if baby has assymetrical skinfold creases on their thighs or holds one leg in a funny position compared to the other, or seems slow to move one leg, then again a GP checkout is sensible.

LittleMissFlustered · 04/04/2012 07:34

It was all going so well, then both ends exploded. Bang goes any idea of a sneaky lie in as he is currently laid on a blanket giggling his perky little arse off. Sod!

aethelI think the thread is going to need a catering size pot of coffee, a mug isn't going to do it >_<

It's persisting down here, has been since yesterday evening. The farmers will be happy but it's a bit crap for those of us who had pondered a walk to the library. Looks like another DVD then. Maybe the amurfs today, and the boy and I can avoid that like we avoided puss in boots yesterday:o

mopsytop · 04/04/2012 07:50

It's snowing here! Lots of snow on the ground. And last week was sunny and 20 degrees. Crazy.

Happy belated bday seven!

plu, yes Irish kids say 'mammy' and also 'mum' when they're bigger or some say 'mam' or even 'ma' I think, but we said 'mammy' and later 'mum'.

Sympathies to those w sleepless or poo filled nights (or both). Minimopsy screeched all evening. I think she had reflux. I hope to bob is a one off and not the start of a new 'normal'. The poor little thing :(

itsybitsy08 · 04/04/2012 08:12

mopsy that post just reminded me, you were asking before (awhile ago now) if someone else was Irish because you had noticed "mammy" in the thread. That wad me! I'm not Irish though, im from the north east, we say mammy here too, and then move on to mam or ma, but ma is considered more slang.
