My hair gets everywhere. It's horrid and comes out in clumps when washed.
We visited 3 nurseries today. 2 were scruffy, and one was a veritable palace of child amazement. I'm getting him in that one for 1.5 days a week. (£80!!!!!!!)
Well, both LO and I have been thru 2 clothes changes today. We went to a building soc first to open a Junior ISA and on exiting I realised a breast pad had slipped and I had a big wet patch under my jacket. I slipped into M&S and bought 2 t's for £10.I changed and then later, after nursery visits and a monster feed, LO vomitted said feed all over me.
Hey ho!

DH away again tonight. And was rudely kept waiting by Penelope cruz.
He was cleaning tanks at Harrods, and she used the same underground secret car park so he wasn't allowed to leave. (just what he wanted at 5:30pm tonight after setting off for London at 5 this morning, after a restless night with Ali!) Sad

Ooooh, so lovely to see you all again Smile! Am home after over a week away, having a little drink in front of the footie whilst the curry cooks, and DS is sleeping away in his cot.

Will do proper catch up tomorrow- probably, although I'm out for lunch tomorrow, and not only have to sort the house out (you know what it's like coming through the door and dumping everything, and then the washing, putting away, tidying, sorting of pets and garden etc) but we have DP's best friend arriving on Thursday so have to get the house guest-ready too- aaaargh!

Have kept up with thread (Whippygate and snot seem to be the order of the day, with continuing poosplosions, lakes of vomit) but just wanted to say Bee that I dealt with some dark hairs that had appeared between my boobs (yum). Hair that has been removed has not come back, but these have appeared- the joys of pregnancy!

Also BJR we have a couple of good nurseries round my way and I've booked DS into one; know it's a bit out of the way for you but let me know if you want details (and the cost for us is £750 per month for a short day- it's more than our mortgage Oi Confused!)

See you all tomorrow, am still with you on the night shift...

LittleMissFlustered · 02/04/2012 22:23

There is a refusal to sleep in the crib tonight. He's currently swaddled and lodged in his car seat. I sense another long night:/

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 00:33

Just (hopefully) completing a shift, having read up to now (although perhaps not? I don't dare refresh the page).
We've been feeding a lot and also househunting (and a sttupid old bat told the EA to stop us "bothering" her - probably offended that we didn't pretend her house woul be a shrine/ untouched sanctum sanctorum - wth?!), so when the thread got away from a manageabe catchup, I got demoralised. Blush Sorry.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 02:06

Welcome back:) No need for epic posts remember:)

There were two hours Of sleep there. Next to each other! I may faint!

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 03:33

Grrrr every two hours... Must break this habit and lock LO in the shed,

OP posts:
Mmmmcheese · 03/04/2012 04:11

DD just went from 7.30 to 3.45am!!!! I know that might mot be good for some of you but its amazing for us! First time in 4 months I've had nearly 6 hours sleep in a row :)

oi I am confused aa to what you mean by cLeaning tanks in Harrods?! What does your DH do?

bee I have PCOS too and some extra facial hair but I'm blonde so you can only see it in certain lights. I thread it myself which is a right pain. Would lve to try IPL but think it only works on dark hair doesn't it? Will be interested to know if it works for you. It is very demoralising isn't it? Andd makes me feel very unfeminine (if that's a word?!)

aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 04:36

pompoms for mmmcheese getting some sleep!!

For those of you on number 1 babies I can highly recommend prophylactic ibuprofen syrup at bedtime when they are bigger and get viruses/snot bugs. It lasts longer than calpol (6-8 hours), keeps temps down better, and if LO had a sky-high temp the night before it saves you worrying that it will shoot up tonight, plus then the kiddy sleeps better. (and no, I don't have shares in it!) from about 6 months onwards most kiddies get a temp at night if they have anything viral/bacterial brewing, and a bottle of calpol and a bottle of ibuprofen in thr med cabinet at all times is sooo useful!

BJR · 03/04/2012 05:07

Poorly baby just drifted off to sleep, been up with him all night bar an hour of sleep. He had diarrhoea all day yesterday and added a high temp to that in the night just seems to be settling with calpol and cooling down a bit now though. Fingers crossed he sleeps for a few hours.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 06:02

I loves ibu syrup, but can only give it to my eldest. It triggers middle one's asthma and I'm too scared to give it to the octopus when he gets big enough >_< Still have a bottle in though, as to the disgust of said eldest it's perfect for shoving down her gullet when she complains she's 'not feeling well' and doesn't want to go to school as it lasts the school day and squashes minor temps etc.

Sorry, rambling, very fragmented night since last post.

Might need Brew at some point.

hawthers · 03/04/2012 06:45

Massive poo explosion over here. Managed to get all up f's back even though I was holding him upright at the time. That is some force.

Had a bit more sleep over here recently although yesterday and today have started at 5. Blurgh but managed 5 hours if uninterrupted sleep bliss.

Sorry to hear of poorly ones - right going to try to grab a little more sleep....

BJR · 03/04/2012 07:24

Managed to get just over an hour sleep before LO woke up again, hes feeding little and often and seems bright enough in himself, but still an extraordinary amount of horrid nappies. Just had to send DP out before he leaves for work for extra nappies as we've got through so many more than usual.

Have Dr's appointment for him this morning as a check up for something else anyway so can ask them to check him over.

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 07:41

My DH works with water systems. Cleaning tanks, testing water quality, treating pipe networks with chemicals etc., for schools, hospitals, businesses, ... He doesn't like it very much. He used to be an IT manager, and decided (after 13 yrs behind a desk) that he fancied a manual job. Now he drives a White van. Daft really, because he doesn't have any qualifications, so may be stuck in the White van for a while.
After the last feed at 3:20, I had a brainwave: turn the radiator off, maybe he's thirsty rather than hungry. And then he slept til 7:30am! Yippee! And Doh!

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 07:59

Thank you, LMF: my first haddock! I'm very touched, and feel very included (depiste having buggered off). Ahhhh, am all warm now. Smile
What's the opposite of a haddock, for a LO who has slept? Pompoms seem a bit too stimulating: the baby might wake up!

Little one was a creature last night. Her voice was hoarse from all the shrieking and refusing to sleep yesterday, but even though that was a bit pathetic, didn't mean I wanted to hear it so frequently in the night. I fed her lying down on and off, and eventually got up with her early, dumped her in a bouncer in the kitchen and ignored her while I recaffeinated myself. Interestingly, she was fine being ignored there, compared to in her bed. Hmm

OiMissus, don't be at all defensive about water systems work! It's essential for human and social health and can be very humanitarian. I have a friend who (admittedly with an MSc in environmental science or something like that) is now doing water quality stuff in Africa for EU-funded projects. He and his wife (my original, schooldays friend) live in France, so he's only visiting the projects, but it seems to pay well enough. They did VSO in Rwanda as well.

PCOS
iPL
AF

(please can someone translate?) ta. X

OP posts:
LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 08:07

PCOS is poly-cystic ovaries
AF is the shortening of Aunt Flo, who is a Bod character a euphemism for the arrival of your period:)

LittleMissFlustered · 03/04/2012 08:09

Plu I go with fluffy wooly pompoms as they don't startle

OiMissus · 03/04/2012 08:14

Didn't we have some woolly mammoths way back when? (can't remember what for, but I'm happy for them to donate pompoms for sleeping babies)
Thanks for the translations.

OP posts:
plutocrap · 03/04/2012 08:14

What about boob-shaped/ boob-soft pompoms?! No startlement there for a baby, and the adult startle reflex (wouldn't you be startled at boob-shaped pompoms?) can be to stop stock-still, not disturbing the baby, either.

Have just joined local freecycle to get rid of mat clothes and baby things not good enough for the charity shop (it feels a bit mean to make them pay to dispose of stuff).

aethelfleda · 03/04/2012 08:53

plu, we did have some in the cupboard, though generaly they were given to supportive DPs and other helpful persons.

Maybe we can give the babies ? they are generally cute and cuddly (though the plush adipose are ridiculously expensive on ebay nowadays!) my DDs love the Adipose Dr Who episode (partners in crime)...

mopsytop · 03/04/2012 08:58

Morning all. Minimopsy woke on average every half hour last night. I knew the angel baby thing was too good to last! She didn't need feeding though, just soothing.

I didn't know what a golden tribble or an adipose was aethel. Don't watch much tv! But I googled them and the adipose(s?) are SO CUTE! I want one!

plutocrap · 03/04/2012 09:13

Oh, yes, forgot about thegolden tribble!

Watched the adipose episodeof DW the other night online,as they'vebeen rebroadcasting that series. Catherine Tate is so brilliant!

msbuggywinkle · 03/04/2012 09:19

The adipose are weirdly lovely. I think I have a dozen couple hanging out just under my waistband. Does anyone need one for an especially adorable baby?

Ok night really and DD1's BFF's birthday party this afternoon. It is a Scooby Doo Mystery party, DD1 has decided to dress as a scary vampire and be a baddie Grin

Another fan of Ibruprofen! The DDs hardly ever get ill, but when they do it seems to be the really nasty viruses. It is so much better than calpol!
