LMF Go to the chemist and get some liquid Anbesol - it works a treat for me & Darcie - honestly it'll be gone within a couple of days :)

Figgygal · 16/04/2012 10:28

He slept through last night yay!!! Hopefully we are back to normal and last week was a blip.

We going to a new babygroup this afternoon we had been going to 1 run by local hvs which ran for 5 wks and all the babies were similar ages, i knew 3 of the mums from antenatal and it was fine but now its ended. i went to the bf group at the centre for a couple of weeks when struggling with it no1 bothered to say hi and the bf counsellor running it took pity on me and kept me company. Im a confident person but Have a feeling it will be really cliquey and i cant be arsed with it. I'll be back at work in 10wks so want to make most of time left now lo a bit bigger.

Good luck this afternoon Oi Sad

Lost post from taking too long to send it! Freya woke up and needed changing.

I am lucky and not going back to work until sep as I am a teacher. However, I don't get maternity pay so am feeling poor. ds starts school in sep, which I find sad as our lifes will be dictated by that for the next 14 years of his life! I want to make the most of this term and go to the beach and lots of day trips with them both. I think sep will be stressful with ds at school, freya starting nusery and me back to work, albeit quite part time.

oi I hope all goes well today. I love that piece and always find music very emotional at funerals, weddings etc

Thought i'd share this classic from dh this weekend after he had been away for a weekend camping and mountain biking -
DH - I'll just put my washing straight in the basket shall I ?
Me - I hope its not too much as feel I spend my life washing (whilst thinking - why dont you do it yourself)
DH - (with no hint of irony) I don't know where you get all the washing from!

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 11:33

I have just been through the DS and Wii game stash and have culled twelve to take to trade in. There's a good offer on in Game, trade three and get an extra £10. Should fund new games for the older two, they want just dance apparently, and a mario game. I love it when they're so specific >_

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 11:38

jiggle I'd have just silently pointed to the wash products and walked away. Or said no, depending on my mood. Even my four year old knows how the washer works:o

Have you not been entitled to any maternity pay at all? when I had my first I didn't qualify for SMP but got maternity allowance. That worked in my favour, as the sample payslips they demanded (they gave me a timescale and the 'weeks' they wanted slips for) were weeks when I'd worked insane amounts of overtime so I got a good allowance for a few months:)

Rashkakeller · 16/04/2012 11:39

Lol Jiggle - oh, he's a one, isn't he! Well done for not clipping him round the ear...unless you did?!

All the best for today, Oi

I second anbesol, excellent stuff

I'm rashkakeller on myfitnesspal if y'all could add me?

jigglebum · 16/04/2012 11:47

In the past I would have but we now tend to just do the jobs we are best at to avoid the repeated arguments we used to have and when I was at my parents last week he did quite a lot of diy.

I don't qualify for MA either as only started the job in sep (when 6 months pregnant) and did not work enough weeks to qualify (had no job for a year ish when we moved to dorset).

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 12:05

Oh hell's bells:( That must truly suck.

BeeMyBaby · 16/04/2012 12:05

looking at kri5tys facebook and her DS is already sitting unaided! My DD2 is nowhere near, and needs all round support (like a high chair) otherwise just slides down... not sure if I should be doing more tummy time or what?

aethelfleda · 16/04/2012 12:16

Good luck oi, will be thinking of you later today.

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 12:18

Bee just go with the flow, she'll get it eventually:)

aethelfleda · 16/04/2012 12:20

Nope bee your LO is completely normal. Try not to fret at the difference between babies and milestones: they all get there in the end. And some things will be early and some late, it's only an issue if they have a real mobility problem or they regress (like start walking fine and them suddenly stop doing it). The babies don't read the books!

NorthernChinchilla · 16/04/2012 12:22

Don't worry Bee, my DS is put into a sitting position, immediately grabs his toes and then goes face first into the floor/changing mat/sofa (see earlier parenting fail) and howls.

I have never before felt the overwhelming concern and love and desire to make everything OK mixed with an equally overwhelming desire to laugh, but I guess that makes up about 50% of parenting Grin!

BeeMyBaby · 16/04/2012 12:48

But I'm very very impatient! Nothern at least your DS has a goal (num num feet), DD2 just sags like a saggy sack of baby potatoes.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/04/2012 12:57

Bee LOL @ saggy sack of baby potatoes Grin

Sky trys to sit herself up but not quite there yet. is very content when sat in her swing or bumbo.

GeeandTee · 16/04/2012 13:01

Is anyone's LO not rolling yet? DD is 4 months and can get herself kind of on her side but not the whole way over. She has a very broad back though and is 17lbs so maybe that is just too much to overcome at the moment?!!

GeeandTee · 16/04/2012 13:02

And she can sit for a while propped up but then slides down or lolls sideways after a few minutes. No way near sitting on her own.

BeeMyBaby · 16/04/2012 13:04

Gee I'm not really sure, I think DD2 may have rolled at 2 and a half months, but it may very well have been with assistance from DD1 and since she hasn't rolled since...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/04/2012 13:08

Gee DD2 hasn't rolled yet - although does keep trying x

OiMissus · 16/04/2012 13:18

Thanks for all the kind thoughts.
BOi has rolled once, front to back, weeks ago, but never since. He half rolls from back to front but struggles to go further. He's perfectly happy on his tummy for 5 mins or so and holds his head up firmly. But he doesn't sit up.even if I prop him up with cushions on the couch he'll dive towards his toes and go over.
I'm not at all concerned though. He's amazingly strong. I can support his weight and he'll walk the length of the lounge - it's amazing to see him take the steps. And he loves dancing on my thighs - he'll stand on me and transfer his weight from one leg to the other, a slinky sway-ey boyband move.

The weaning talk was good. I didn't learn an awful lot but it was good to reinforce my thoughts and beliefs. Now I need to send my parents and friends on the talk so that they will refrain their excitement about farley's bloody 29% sugar rusks! He ain't having them!
Passed a funeral on the way back and had tears flowing down my face. It's good to get that release, but I guess there'll be more releasing later!

OP posts:
DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/04/2012 13:26

Oi Are they reduced in sugar rusks?

I'm looking forward to the weaning class on weds to see if I can learn anything new :)

YBR · 16/04/2012 13:36

Gee Baby YBR's not rolling further than her side yet. I suspect her cloth nappies make it a bit harder than when in disposables. She'll only sit up supported, and then half the time decides she doesn't want to.
Not worried, but keeping up some time on her tummy and sitting on my lap so she can keep learning.

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 13:40

Octopus like flaking out on his back and having the entertainment come to him:o

NorthernChinchilla · 16/04/2012 14:16

DS can roll from front to back, and gets about halfway with back to front and then sticks.
I am doing tummy time, but it's mainly to let the skin in his little rolls of flab neck dry out after washing him and air generally, to avoid the dreaded neck cheese!
He's the same as BOi, Oi - loves to stand if you hold him, and do little steps, with his chunky thighs of power Grin!

BJR · 16/04/2012 15:11

DS also in the camp of prefering to be on his feet than rolling or trying to sit, I must be building strong arm muscles from holding him up all the time! He can roll from tummy to back but not a chance of going the otherway at the moment he keeps getting stuck on his arms!

Just took DS into work and had lots of eyes rolled at me and comments of it was alright in my day when some of the ladies asked if he was on solid foods yet. They seemed really surprised that i'm waiting untill 6 months.

Going to get a highchair soon though as hes getting a bit long for his bouncy chair and i like to have somewhere to sit him when i'm in the kitchen, anyone got any recommendations?
