oi I'm imagining you at a buffet scooshing fairy liquid over all the nibbles, I know its not what you meant but its a great image.

DD2 was feeding about every hour last night, I never bothered putting her in her crib, just left her lying across my chest all night. Left nipple is agony though.

HoneyLovesCake · 31/03/2012 11:53

Morning all!

I'm another one with weight to lose & a biscuit addiction; half a stone to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight & another half to get to my ideal. I decided I'd try a biscuit-free week while DP is away in the hope that the weight would miraculously drop off but I don't think it's working as I've been pretty sedentary. Sadly the gorgeous weather we've had this week has kept us housebound as DS got very stressed every time I tried to go for a walk. Hopefully he'll get over his aversion to bright sunlight & heat soon or my plans for a summer at the beach are ruined. No excuses today though as it's terribly overcast here.

We did manage to get out to baby group yesterday as it was a bit cloudier down here. It was really nice & far less intimidating than my first time, a couple of weeks ago. Used my new Calin Bleu wrap which I'm really happy with as it's much more suited to warm weather than my Moby but when I popped into a charity shop (where I found a wooden Skwish rattle for £2:)) the lady serving me said it looked cruel & uncomfortable Angry I do realise that the froggy position doesn't look that comfy but what a cow. She kept poking at his legs & saying I'm sure the fabric is cutting in to him & to DS isn't your mummy cruel Shock

On the subject of weaning I picked up the River Cottage Baby & Toddler book from the library; it's the first I've tried so can't compare but I'm really enjoying it so far. It has a good intro explaining the reasons for 6 month weaning but also gives an alternative view from a Clinical Psychologist for those of you considering starting at 4 months...apparently babies are least afraid of new foods between 4 & 6 months & there is evidence that offering a taste of different foods early on increases their readiness to accept them later on. I'll still wait until 6 months but it's an interesting point.

DS has just woken from his nap so I'd better get moving. Hope you all have a good weekend.

AWomanCalledHorse · 31/03/2012 12:13

Hurrah for YBR & Baby YBR!

seven Angry at the physio, hope DS is feeling better today.

aethel, I bought my post-pg jeans in New Look too! Although I'm back in normal clothes now, I've lost all the weight by eating awful foods and not much else so wouldn't recommend my current diet to anyone!

Honey, I've found most people roll their eyes at the mention of a babybjorn style sling around here (which is surprising considering there is a large population of African mums who carry their babies in traditional Kitenge wraps) so I'm not surprised people think slings are bad, but it's totally out of order she said that to you/DS!

We'll wean when he's ready, although secretly I hope it's sooner rather than later as his feeding is a nightmare atm, comfort milk is the devils work!

AnAirOfHope · 31/03/2012 12:49

Poop ecplotion all over my bed sad.

Mattress a right off. I was upset and said to dh i wanted to send her back as she pooped on my bed and aaron screamed no hope no go. Daddy stop mummy hope no go. It took me 30 mins to calm him down and reassure him hope was not going anywhere and i was joking cos i was upset and that hope was ok.

Wow o feel like a shit mum right now. I have learnedd to watch what i say. Sad x 50000000

OiMissus · 31/03/2012 13:43

air you're not a bad mum! I keep saying that I'm gonna swap Ali for a clean, non-sicky, non-drooly baby. Of course we're only joking. Tis a shame Aaron overheard you but he'll forget it very quickly.
I meant to respond to your ? about a meet up in Manc. Weekends are bad for meet ups as DH is home. But I'm usually up for meet ups midweek. Smile
I can't believe you were called cruel honey, what a witch! How incredibly rude. If I had been you, I'd have asked her if she liked being rude to people, and "it's not very nice, is it?" before walking out.
We're house-sitting/dog-sitting (again), this time at my aunt's. She has a lovely house, and me n Ali enjoyed a swim in her huge corner bath this morning. Grin Their dog is very old so doesn't go for walks anymore. Suits me fine! (is it too early to enjoy a long (weak) Martini and lemonade in the conservatory?)Grin

aethelfleda · 31/03/2012 17:37

Shock blimey honey, that's disgraceful of her!
But you can call "bingo", cos one of the phrases on my breastfeeding bingo mug is "He looks very squashed in that sling...."

We had a great day so far... Took the DDs and DH to the local cinema (it's an independent) and they let me take DS in too, as their back row is buggy and wheelchair-friendly. We watched The Pirates: In An Adventure with Scientists and it was really funny. DS fed and slep his way through the whole thing and wasn't at all bothered by the noise. Win!

aethelfleda · 31/03/2012 17:40

Sorry, duff link. Breastfeeding bingo mug

love the idea of a fairy liquid contamination stealth device: maybe a pocket super soaker could do it with style?

seven77 · 31/03/2012 18:03

YBR sorry I didn't name-check you yesterday, hope babyYBR makes a fast recovery.

oi it's never too early for a martini!

honey what a rude cow, and I'd have told her so!

aethel I'd been thinking it looked good, we're big Aardman fans, we'll probably wait and get it on DVD.

I had a bit of a run in with my mum earlier, she thinks the reserve price for our flat we're putting for auction is too low. Tbh the reserve is a bit low but we're not stupid enough to sell it for less than we can afford to. The auctioneer said we should easily manage 15-20k above the reserve, but there's work we need to do here that we can't even think about until we sell it. We're not allowed to let it under the terms of the lease, and every month it sits there empty costs us £100 that we can't afford in council tax. It's a complex situation though, my dad bought the house we're in while our flat was on the market with the understanding being that once the flat sells we buy the house from him.

msbuggywinkle · 31/03/2012 19:49

Owwwwwwww! I am on hour 6 of having my hair dreadlocked. It fooking hurts.

aethelfleda · 31/03/2012 20:25

Why does it hurt msbuggy? is there lots of tension on the newly dreaded bits?

Good luck with the auction seven.

and I think my Lenten facebook restriction is starting to cost me far too much as I am spending a bit more time internet shopping than usual. Added to the fact that there are far fewer cute boy things than gorls stuff, you really have to look to avoid the stereotyped "Tough little cookie" and "trouble coming" blue t shirts and babygrows. Saw a gorgeous WAHM pair of rainbow coloured knitted shorties today and think I might have to buy them... Shorties are knitted trousers that you can use as regular clothing or waterproof them and use as a nappy wrap. I've avoided this particular varient of cloth nappy addiction so far but I tells ye, this pair of shorties is super cute... .....

aethelfleda · 31/03/2012 20:28

Oh and ((((hugs)))) for air, you're doing better than you think.Maternal guilt is so normal!!!

Hope babyYBR is doing OK too.

How's Edward doing, LMF?

EasilyBored · 31/03/2012 20:51

Have been away loads so totally failed to keep up with the last thread. Must do better! Am back home on Monday so will devote a bit of time to catching up and sorting through pms. Am monkey wrangling on my own at the minute as took a trip back to see my folks and am utterly exhausted!

LittleMissFlustered · 01/04/2012 04:06

Edward's not doing any worse thanks aethel I'm suffering instead. Have monster chest infection so have for antibiotics and steroids:( Hoping they don't change my milk too much. Had a temp of 39.9°c earlier which was fun >_<

Right, feed over, time for second batch of painkillers.

Sorry to not have namecgecked, but I do hope everyone is having a lovely weekend:)

BeeMyBaby · 01/04/2012 07:39

Poor you LMF no idea how you could manage with that plus two others.

msbuggy did they manage to finish your hair and do you have a headache from it now or is it not sore anymore?

honey I weaned DD1 early at 5 months and gave her lots of beetroot/squash etc - at 2 she will not eat anything like that so it didn't help me one bit :(
I also can't believe someone said that to you about the wrap! I would have given them a stiff talking to about their idiotness.

So DD2 is now officially in her bath seat, I would have liked to have waited a little longer but her bath sponge is a) getting too small b) showing definite signs of black mould - ew, bin bin bin.

BeeMyBaby · 01/04/2012 07:41

LMF when I said 'that' I meant illness with baby, not that he is a 'that' sorry.

msbuggywinkle · 01/04/2012 08:06

More just the build up of having my scalp tugged about. It took 8 hours in the end Aethel

Hair is done bee still a bit tender, but looks ace Grin

lmf poor you. Brew and sympathy.

honey my friend was asked if she had a puppy in her sling! People are weird.

Doing Easter today at PIL's house. No idea why, we aren't Christian, neither are they. I'm sure DD1 will regale us with the story of Ostara and the rabbit though. I am determined to pass on my fascination with Celtic stories.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/04/2012 09:20

aarrgghh, Darcie is a spoilt brat Sad hate saying that about her but that is what she is behaving like....I feel like a failure in the fact I've tried to give her all the things I never had and it's back fired Sad

aethelfleda · 01/04/2012 09:38

Hope you're better soon lmf, boooo to nasty chest infections!

DS decided the best start tonthe day was to wake up completely at 4 am and spend the rest of the night feeding and chewing mummys nipples. Thanks chuck. DH saved me at 8am by getting up and taking him downstairs for a bottle of EBM.

DD1 however has decided it's a lovely day and she really wants me to take her to Sunday school despite the fact I am half awake and bleary eyed. Will see how motivated I feel in the next 20 minutrs...

AnAirOfHope · 01/04/2012 09:39

Happy fools day!

Is anyone ttc? Is anyone pg yet?

seven77 · 01/04/2012 09:55

air we're ttc though it would be a miracle because we never have time. Why do you ask, are you considering it?

dsm sorry, I was going to ask how her behaviour is now.

msb pic on the fb group please!

aethel I'm sending string coffee vibes your way, hope you wake up soon!

No plans for today here, should do some housework I guess.

Kitty5824 · 01/04/2012 10:09

air sorry I've only just noticed your meet-up thingy. I was in Manchester yesterday as well Sad

Not ttc yet, but must admit VERY broody after meeting and holding my nephew on Friday. Had already forgotten how curled up they are when they first arrive!!

MrsB we def need a picture onthe fb page please

We're off to have lunch with some friends who may or may not have arranged a big leaving party for us. Not sure whether I will be dissappointed or relieved if it is just us. I am generally not good at being centre of attention (Seb is a godsend as he totally takes the limelight Grin) but I haven't heard from a lot of people I was hoping to see over the last couple of weeks. I've lived up here for 15 years. Would be nice to say goodbye in person...

Oh, and loud clunking noises and smoke coming from the washing machine is bad right?

AWomanCalledHorse · 01/04/2012 10:14

msbuggy, hope your bum isn't too sore from sitting still for 8hours, I remember my sister having v.v.dead legs the last time she got cornrow!!

We're ttc, but we're not expecting it to happen this year, don't know why, just got a feeling we're looking at a 2year age gap. AF is here & DH isn't, so it would be an odd time to fall pg.

DSM, I hope things improve with Darcie soon. xx

OiMissus · 01/04/2012 10:15

Morning all, DH told me that the dog had done a poosPlosion on thekitchen floor. April Fools!
He also brought LO down so I could have an extra hour in bed.
Our friends stayed til 1am, I was knackered. The hoos is a mess. Risotto plates and cookage around the kitchen, dessert bowls, and 4 million glasses and bottles. It looks like it was a good party, even though it was just the 4 of us and LO.
Coffee.

AWCH were you ttc for long last time?

seven77 · 01/04/2012 10:27

air I just remembered you saying before about forgetting protection and then you changed your mind about the MAP, but I can't remember how l
