scooby that's brilliant thanks! I'm an hour from Norwich, I don't have time this week and need shoes ASAP so we'll get them nearer, but if we get on with them we'll definitely be going there in future!

air would it be any better to see the HV tomorrow or is she not worth the hassle?

LMF and kitty in all honesty I need to lose 5 too (shit that's a third of my weight Shock) but my goal on myfitnesspal is 3 for now to get to somewhere I'd be happy with, though with ttc DC3 it might be a while before I manage it! Maybe we should start our own thread, 'postnatal women with half a person to lose?'

seven77 · 15/04/2012 20:50

rash definitely teething!

Eva is interested in our food but after trying rice for a couple of days we stopped because she just didn't seem bothered and started taking less milk as a result. She's 21 weeks tomorrow, I thought she'd have been ready by now, I started (smaller) DS at 19 weeks.

Figgygal · 15/04/2012 21:05

LO has gone to bed having chugged his bed time bottle fingers crossed no wake up tonight.

Teething poos are awful!! We've been back to 1 poo a day today and yesterday after the 3 nasties a day we've had earlier in the week.

Though I'm only 5lbs up I can see my tummy has more fat on it than before. I know I need to do some sit ups but never have in my life so any ideas for alternative stomach tighteners/toners? Have a keep in touch day at work on Thursday I'm sure squeezing into a work dress and having to breathe in all day will give me some motivation Grin.

LittleMissFlustered · 15/04/2012 21:38

I downloaded the fitness app. I sent a request to Tyel but I'm not sure of any other usernames. I was on autopilot when I registered so it's not my mumsnet username on there, it's random followed by fat ending with bird, but all three words in one go. Sounds paranoid doing it like that, but my ex has gone a bit odd and I'd rather he didn't have scope to find me:)

GeeandTee · 15/04/2012 21:59

air my thrush reappeared and I went to the GP who gave me a gel for my nipples and DD's mouth. I can't remember the generic name for it but the brand name is Daktarin. It is very bad that your GP wasn't aware of this. Mine also downloaded an information leaflet on it, I'll see if I can dig it up and tell you how to get it online (the leaflet not the gel). Basically, I have to put it on me after every feed for 2 weeks and a dollop in DD's mouth twice a day. I think aethel mentioned it a while ago for someone else too.

The thing that stuck out for me most on this leaflet was the warning to GPs that this kind of thrush is VERY painful and it said that "few mothers can stand the pain and continue breastfeeding". I've has it twice now and can confirm it is incredibly painful. Even my mega soft bras feel like sandpaper :(

First time I went to the GP he said it wasn't thrush because I didn't have a white discharhe from my nipples. I checked it out later on the internet (and asked aethel) and realised this was a load of rubbish and went back to a different GP.

Hope you can get it sorted soon.

NorthernChinchilla · 15/04/2012 22:00

Wow folks have been talkative today!

Bee/Oi - sounds like we need to talk as that's exactly my plan re. bf and work! I want to do the 7am feed, express once at work in the middle of the day, the 7pm and then the 11pm feed. I'm thinking of just expressing for the next couple of months til we start weaning DS. I've managed to swap two feeds so far, will swap a night feed as of tomorrow. Really hoping it's do-able.

Great day with the family- my sis (14) and bro (8), DS's Auntie and Uncle(!) are so ovewhelmed by him it's not true, and actually fight over who's going to hold him! Arrived early, and then took the kids on a walk via the country pub for a quick one then back for a lamb roast, followed by strawberries and ice-cream.

Settling down for MOTD2, and looking at next week's job list. DP has asked me to write a manual/guidebook for DS, so will start that Confused!

Xiaoxiong · 15/04/2012 22:11

Northern that is also what I'm hoping to do with breastfeeding - express once at work and do the morning and evening feeds. I'm trying to build up a stash of frozen milk now so we have plenty on hand. I've got a nice pump that looks like a rucksack and has a chill bag for the milk once it's expressed so I don't need to use the office fridge!

DSM thanks for the teetha recommendation - if he is this wiggy tomorrow I will definitely be picking some up.

LMF I've accepted you on mfp - now I will have to stick to my calorie goal or you will see me slacking and I will be ashamed...

OiMissus · 15/04/2012 22:24

I've tried to build up a stash, but am failing miserably. He's always hungry, and I'm always busy. Northern, when you say you've been swapping feeds, do you mean you're expressing and giving bottles?
I go back to work next week and am woefully underprepared for Alistair's feeds.(A chill bag is a good idea.)

We can be buttock-prodding associates Tyel :o

Octopus is being ultra hungry again. Might have to fundhim an appetite suppressant instead of me!Wink

AWomanCalledHorse · 16/04/2012 00:51

My fecckin insomnia is back. Arsewipebuggerballs, I spent so long during pregnancy & with newborn DS feeling tired and sleeping and now it's gone :(

Rash, sounds like teething! We have powder, calpol & gel here...DS seems to find me rubbing his gums with gel on my fingers the most soothing. Detinox & Bongela teething gel have the same active ingredients, but the Detinox stuff is about £1-2 cheaper.

I've noticed the babiesnet thread, hilarious!! In my head (and aloud to DH/friends) DS talks like original Shaft or Samuel L Jackson Blush Which I'll have to stop soon as I don't want his first word to be mofo....

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 01:47

We're averaging 90 minutes between feeds tonight. Soul destroying doesn't cover it:(

BeeMyBaby · 16/04/2012 02:47

Oi/Chinchilla/Tyel I can only say from my experiences and alot of it was to do with embarrassment - I went back to work when DD1 was 4 months old for 3 days a week, I had about 30 feeds frozen at home from the previous month. I expressed twice a day at work (15 mins a time) and once a day when off work - if I didn't do the extra express on my days off then I wouldn't have kept up as DD would feed 3-4 times when I was at work. As for embarrassment, I work in a shared office so had to kick out another secretary from her room when I wanted to express (although she was very nice about it) then store it in the communal fridge (don't like other people seeing my milk), then take my pump to rinse it in the bathroom - I didn't sterilise it during the day as too self conscious to stick it in the microwave. I had to go straight home after work with the milk as if I stopped at the shops it turned as it was summer. After a month (DD was then 5 months) I went back full time and knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with her demands/ found expressing uncomfortable/ was just incredibly embarrassed so I weaned her and DH gave her formula during the day but I fed her in the evening/night/morning (until DH put her into her own room at 10mo). Giving EBM also made it harder for DH to go out etc due to curdling/ how to heat it.
I therefore decided to take 8 months mat leave this time so I could continue breastfeeding until DD2 was 6 months and with the hope by 8 months she may not need milk during the day if she feeds overnight.

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 03:29

Back:(

aethelfleda · 16/04/2012 05:21

Hi really hope you're skeeping snd not reading this...

DS has developed a new trick, which is to sleep fairly well but then wake once my milk sipply is enoooormous, gulp too much milk at one go, then return most of it without warning. Grobag change later and we're trying thr feed-rest-feed tactic to see if that reduces pukage (he was fine in the day, I do think its just a wind thing)

I sympathise with privacy bee, time pressures at work often make expressing tricky too. My work are sympathetic but I have enough trouble making 10 mins to eata sarnie, I'd not be able to express too. That's partly ehy I'm Having more than 6 months off this ttime.

air, the stuff that geeandTea mentioned is Oral Miconazole Gel (both for your nipples and Hope's mouth). Go and see another GP and explain that the pain is excruciating and you have heard that this stuff helps.

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 05:33

Reading I'm afraid aethel. He woke up ten minutes ago:( It's not like he's not feeding properly, he takes about twenty minutes and drains the boob. I just think it's a nasty habit now:/

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/04/2012 06:31

Yay back to school today.

Sky woke at 3:30 drank about 3-4oz and went back to sleep woke about 10mins ago.

Back to normality today.

aethelfleda · 16/04/2012 07:48

Would like to get up but Limpet Boy is cluster feeding again. We have an inset day so last day of holidays for us.

BJR · 16/04/2012 08:11

Arrr, DP has left for work in a grump. He manages to grump most days at the moment its rather boring!

Plan for the day Musical bumps this morning and then going to work for a meeting with my new boss to discuss what days i'll be working when I go back to work. Fingers crossed LO doesn't scream the place down.

Not to bad a weekend but I did have to rescue my poor child from some over entusiastic playing from his big brother and Uncle (only 13). They were 'dancing' and were waving his arms and legs about like mad, his poor little head looked like it was going to fall off. He hid his face in me untill we left after I reclaimed him!

I think I also need to get a bit more on track with the getting into shape. I've been trying to do more exercise but its not going to well i seem to have a dodgy bit on my section scar. The rest of it feels fine but I have one patch the pulls when i'm exercising. Also have dodgy knees to contend with from a previous spectacular skiing accident. All this is making me feel old!

OiMissus · 16/04/2012 08:22

Thanks for the explanation bee. I've got my own office and I've asked them to get me a blind for the floor-to-ceiling window.
Expressing is time consuming though. (even with the medela pump. Should I have bought the double pump?)
I'll look out for dark Tupperware to store the milk bags in the fridge. I don't like the idea of people seeing it either. Or maybe just use a cool box in the car outside.
As for cleaning the pump, I'm just going to have to brazen it out and wash it. I may have to just wash and clean properly and rinse with boiled water though, and hope that's sterile enough if I pump more than once.
BOi only woke once in the night. Pleeeease let this phase continue. One wake up I can deal with!
Today I'm going to a weaning talk at 10. And it's my granddad's funeral at 4. The final music is Dvorak's 9th symphony, Going Home. (the hovis tune). The words are heartbreaking. One verse is about "she is there, waiting there"... (it's beautiful and perfect). And granddad's been talking about wanting to be with grandma for the last 5 years, since she passed away.
Mum played it to me last week and I was in pieces. Better lay off the mascara today. :(

Xiaoxiong · 16/04/2012 09:14

Oi my work apparently has a special room for mothers to express milk(!) so I am planning to use that. I figure they need to know that facilities like that are essential and are being used, especially considering the hours they expect us to work which means it's likely I'll be expressing twice a day.

Thanks to everyone who has friended me on myfitnesspal - it's a real incentive to stay on the straight and narrow! I've made my diary visible too so it's even more transparently clear what exercise I've done and food i've eaten over the day.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/04/2012 09:16

Oi Hope the funeral goes okay and you give your Grandad a great send off.

Darcie is in school. Time for me to have some brekkie - egg on toast me thinks - and then crack on with my housework as kinda got away from me over the holidays - I can get my house back to normal now!

NorthernChinchilla · 16/04/2012 09:18

Thanks Bee/ Oi / Tyel. I can probably squeeze in (pardon the pun) one express around my lunch hour (and I'm a stickler for taking it, even if it means working later, as I just don't function well in the afternoon if I don't). There's a spare office/meeting room which I will use that you can't see into. I've got good chill bag and am planning to see if I can get any small ice packs to go in there. Problem is when I'm away from the office, which is fairly regularly.

Plan is to express into a couple of pots, put them in something, and then put them in the fridge to retrieve at the end of the day. I'm planning just to rinse the pump quickly in hot water at work in the loos and then take it home and sterilise there (probably as I'll be using it for a couple of months for a before-bed express when I've moved on from feeding at that time).

Oi- by swapping I mean having a formula feed instead of breast. DP will be at home, so he'll be feeding him formula, and any expressed bm from me. I'm 'boob-training' at the moment (!) so swapping one feed every four days to gradually reduce supply.
Tonight is the big night where I will swap his first night time feed for forumla, and he'll spend the whole night in his cot. Probably.
Sob Sad.
And I really hope the funeral goes as well as possible, your description has given me a lump in my throat....

I was in the same position BJR, enthusiastic young relatives are great but you do have to keep an eye on them!

Hope you're feeling OK LMF

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 09:37

I'm alive! Kids at school, walked to town and am having breakfast in Starbucks. Ought to go home really, but need cat litter:/

Oi will be thinking of you later:(

mopsytop · 16/04/2012 09:48

Glad you're feeling a bit better lmf!

Oi will be thinking of you later.

aethel, thinking of giving up on non-disposables. I think I let her get used to disposables and their fabulous wicking cos as soon as the non-disposables get wet she gets really unhappy and cries til I take it off. I'd be changing her every half hr.

I am on myfitnesspal as well but nor done it for ages but I will add you all and make my diary visible ... Good idea Tyel. just off for big walk now ...

LittleMissFlustered · 16/04/2012 09:57

Random grump: I've had an ulcer on my tongue for a couple of months now and it is starting to annoy me, it's huge now and I keep catching it in stuff. Going to ask the dentist about it later in the week:/
