Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

.

Ds seems a lot more settled now and the lump on his leg has now settled. LMF, much sympathy for the crazy on-hour wakes...we need another bulletpoint for the list, to come after change/feed/comfort/jiggle/soothe... Maybe a for translation purposes...

Figgygal · 14/04/2012 07:54

Lmf my sympathies that sounds awful!!
Well he went straight back to sleep this morning after a bottle and then woke again 6.30 with a very noisy (and unfortunately stinky) poo so have been up had Brekkie and put washing on. DH still snoring, LO has just conked out again so think will have shower can't go back to sleep now

NorthernChinchilla · 14/04/2012 08:27

Not quite as bad here LMF, but waking every 1.5-2.5 hours, so after his 11pm feed he woke at 1.30, 3.00, 5.15 and 6.15. Today's job is setting up his bank account- I feel I may wander back with two kiwi fruit and a small albino elephant and nothing else.

I think we can all say %&%$%%&&(^%£"£& four month sleep regression.

Offskis, will post more later...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/04/2012 08:35

Figgy Bet that's a shock to the system after 7 weeks.

Air Hope your DH came back from Asda with more than cake?!

LMF My sympathies goes out to you.

I should be on my way to Legoland Windsor with Darcie & DP but I jarred my fecking back this morning - brought tears to my eyes - so struggling to move - will be a challenge to see how I get on with Sky today - think duvet day on the sofa for us!

aethelfleda · 14/04/2012 11:34

Feed feed feed feed fred
Snore snore snore
WAIL!!!!!
(repeat until bored)....

Rashkakeller · 14/04/2012 12:24

It im bored now!!

Figgygal · 14/04/2012 12:43

Lo has had his 1st experience of baby rice this morning he actually grabbed the spoon and thrust it in his mouth Grin. Hes still a few days short of 17wks but as hes started waking in night and hadnt put on any weight for 3 wks am giving it a very slow go.

aethelfleda · 14/04/2012 12:43

Yep, I think the babes are communally teething and growth spurting all at thr same time. They are clearly communicating by some arcane means. I wonder if there is a BabiesNet with its own December 2011 thread..

OctoBoy: Hi guys, I am feeling SO much better after that Monster poo
MiniMopsy: wow, you've got that elimination thing nailed. Respect.
BuggyBaby: that's nothing. My mum catches my pee in a pot sometimes.
TeenyTyel: BURP!
AethelsSpawn: Heh heh heh. Good projection, Dude.

Sorelip · 14/04/2012 15:06

Lol aethelfleda, you may be right. DS has got monster poos, projectile puke and teething down to a tee. Although, I have to confess, he has slept through the night since around 6 weeks. I've been really lucky, though that didn't stop me having really crappy postnatal depression and ending up on antidepressants. I feel so much better now though! I was supposed to be going back to work on Tuesday. I lasted an hour there, then quit.

Good times :)

msbuggywinkle · 14/04/2012 15:08

aethel too funny, DP and I are giggling like loons, PIL are looking at us as though we are mad.

The DDs have decorated their Nana and Aunt. Nana has a tiara and two bunches, Aunt has three bunches and a crown. Miri is currently being unimpressed by her Grandad.

seven77 · 14/04/2012 15:09

dsm sounds painful, hope you're taking it easy today.

Sorry to all of those suffering from sleep regression!

I got awarded the carers allowance, backdated the maximum of 3 months =£700! Chinese and wine to celebrate tonight, DH wants to use some of it to buy a shed, and I'm thinking about renting a cottage for a few days somewhere maybe after the summer. I want within around 3 hours of Suffolk, quiet but not in the middle of nowhere but within driving distance of a couple of attractions, any ideas?

mopsytop · 14/04/2012 15:57

Hehe aethel.

Excel is wrecking my head. Currently taking a little break and feeding minimopsy. I sd call her minimonster really, she's a milk monster!! 7oz 5 times a day and she's still only a wee thing. Where does it all go!!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/04/2012 16:01

Y'know, I've been really missing out on naming DS on the thread as Mini-chinnie, and henceforth he shall be named.

How're you getting on LMF, hanging on in there?

Glad you're on the mend sorelip, but by Bob it sounds like you've been through the wars! So the PND's under control, but you've quit your job- are you going to be OK?

The appointment did not go well- we got halfway through (me having made the bank person write everything down so I could follow) and then it turned out I needed a CT/utilities/anything bill as proof of address. They had told me to bring the birth cert, and passport, but not that.
Had to rebook for Thursday Angry and so the whole reason for me waiting for months to set this up, so that I could do it on a Saturday without a baby on my lap, is out.

We then had a poo-splosion that I dealt with, although he managed to get some round his mouth, so I'm praying it doesn't make him ill or anything. Bath time followed, and whilst baby bath = SCCCRREEEEAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMM, big boy bath with Mummy and play fishes is quite well received. He managed to pee over the mat beforehand and all over himself straight after though Confused....!

Love the BabiesNet aethel! It would be fun - if we could be arsed/weren't totally knackered - to actually spend a day posting as our LOs!

AnAirOfHope · 14/04/2012 16:22

Ouch pooly nipple. Lanolin and painkillers taken. Wispers i have a blister ouch.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/04/2012 17:09

Feel pants when I breathe :( it hurts.

Sky has been really good all day and currently asleep.

Darcie & DP are on their way home from Legoland Windsor. From what I can make out she has had a really good day apart from running off once :( was caught promptly tho! So need to get dinner on ready for 6ish. fish fingers at the ready and then back to having my feet up :)

neverenoughsleeportea · 14/04/2012 17:24

DH's mad aunt here and is totally winding me up. She gets overly bossy with DS1 and then doesn't listen to him so he ends up getting in a total tiz. Am unable to bite my tongue so have retreated indoors to feed f mn

Kitty5824 · 14/04/2012 17:25

Have managed to log on using someone else's wi-fi. Maybe I'll cancel the sky man on Tuesday Wink

So, not that I wish it on anyone else, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one with a LO that has regressed back to frequent night feeds and waking each time I try to move him off my boob. I'm sore all over from a week of manic cleaning. And DH had his leaving do in Manchester last night and would describe himself as "broken" today. We won't be seeing him till after lunch tomorrow!!

Too much has happened to comment individually, but felt the need to give Thanks and Wine as a belated birthday gift to air. I too was disproportionately annoyed that DH did not get me a birthday cake for my 30th. He has done marginally better each year since as I threw a massive tantrum and last year actaully baked me double choc chip cookies. This year he will be away at a bloody conference! Meh, 34 is not an important one I s'pose.

Xiaoxiong · 14/04/2012 17:32

Haha aethel how did you know...as I was reading that, DS emitted a loud watery burp and then...well, let's just say a black polo neck is not a good look with baby sick all down the back.

Anyway as promised, baby-related things I noticed in the States that I thought you guys might find interesting:

  • In 2 weeks in DC and Manhattan I didn't see a single other person breastfeeding. Not one!! I just latched DS on like normal but it was really weird never seeing anyone else...especially since my parents live in a very baby-heavy neighbourhood and there were babies in prams everywhere. When I found a breastfeeding centre and went to rent a breast pump, they handed me a little card with a section of legislation on it saying I had the "right to breastfeed anywhere where the baby had a legal right to be present". The date of this legislation was only 2007 which is quite depressing.
  • American parents seem to think nothing of feeding their under 1 yo babies bottles of juice - not even watered down (I went so far as to ask the lady sitting next to me at brunch what was in the bottle!). I was surprised by this as generally us Yanks are pretty concerned with perfect pearly whites.
  • 90% of the prams we saw were Baby Jogger City Mini single or doubles. (We brought ours with us so we fit right in!) We also saw a couple of Mountain Buggies and MacLarens but the BJCM seems to have a stranglehold on the US market. Ditto for Ergo carriers (this one) - I think we saw one babybjorn but 99% of the slings were Ergos. We tried one on in a baby shop but it forced Pirran's legs really wide, almost like he was doing the splits, and he looked really uncomfortable.
  • Speaking of prams, parents seem to use prams with much older children than here in the UK - I saw lots of kids who looked to be at least 5 or even 6 in prams, with their feet dragging on the ground! (And they weren't special needs buggies either, they were in this kind of £20 pushchair.) I asked my mother and she sniffed and said American kids were lazy and refuse to walk because they're usually driven everywhere Grin
  • The baby accessory du jour appears to be these blankies - Pirran was given two by different relatives while we were out there.

Overall though it was a great trip - blue skies the entire time, sunshine, eating outside. And a side effect was that DH put on so much weight while we were out there that he has now gone on a serious healthy eating and exercising kick, which is great! He downloaded the same app I use to do a food log and was shocked to see how many calories were in things he used to inhale without even thinking about it (eg. 1200 calories in a chicken korma, pilau rice and naan bread, not even including the beer!) So hopefully we will lose weight together now.

seven77 · 14/04/2012 17:49

tyel sounds like you had a great time, and very fascinating about the parenting differences. What's the name of the app?

I'm sorry if I sounded like I was bragging about the carers allowance. I feel guilty claiming benefits for what I would do anyway as a mum, but as DH always reminds me there are people that lie to fraudulently get benefits they aren't entitled to, all we done was truthfully fill in forms and someone decided we are entitled to it, so we claim it. We don't have loads of money, and it's the only way I can be a sahm.

seven77 · 14/04/2012 18:04

Eva has started babiesnet

NorthernChinchilla · 14/04/2012 18:32

Good grief, no seven, you certainly didn't sound like you were bragging! Having had to go through the application forms for DLA repeatedly, with my Mum until she received it indefinitely (she's on higher rate for both components), it's a bloody hard task in itself!

If they're awarded, then they're necessary, end of. It's not like we know you're actually a 47 year old bloke called Geoff with no children who can't be bothered to get off his arse and is just lying through his teeth to get the money Wink. I'm really pleased you've got them, as that bit of extra money can make all the difference.

All sounds fascinating Tyel, especially about the bf and the juice. Weird isn't it, how sometimes people have just no idea of calorie content; DP used to use gallons of olive oil whilst cooking, on the mistaken belief it was sort of olive juice and had no calories, as opposed to cooking with butter!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/04/2012 18:40

Mini-chinny has posted on Babiesnet!

mopsytop · 14/04/2012 18:55

That's weird Tyel, cos my sis lived in the US when her kids were babas and there was SO much pressure to bf, to the point where you were practically seen as a child abuser if you didn't, like WAY worse than here. Maybe they all bd at home or something. Did you see lots of babies being given bottles?

KateM77 · 14/04/2012 19:29

Fascinating to hear all that tyel. Sounds like you had a great trip.

Well done to Eva for starting babiesnet, and to aethel for the original post. They're definitely all plotting against us.

Productive day here. DH and I each did shifts with the DC's whilst the other one did jobs around the house, and I made it out for a very slow jog run too. I am so incredibly unfit at the moment! It's going to be a busy week ahead with lots of visitors, and culminating in DD's 2nd birthday on Friday. I'll be spending most evenings cooking and baking through this week and don't think it'll be long until I'm spending evenings pureeing - DS is avidly watching whenever DH, DD or I eat!
