As someone who wears gothy velvet jackets, long skirts and DMs to every wedding I can get away with, I'd say go for whatever you like the look of........

MissRee · 12/04/2012 22:03

Northern Freya also does strange screamy cries in her sleep. Maybe they're having nightmares that someone is stealing their milk Grin I'd love to know what goes on in their tiny minds!

Figgygal · 12/04/2012 22:06

Well lo never woke from Falling asleep just after 7 I tried to wake him by tickling feet, blowing on face gently even changed his nappy but he was not interested so he's gone to bed an hour early and without his bed time feed I fully expect a disturbed sleep tonight Sad. Just finished watching Thor (well staring at him) so now off to bed.

Northern LO has planted his feet for a long time he manages to move himself around the floor by pushing on them and he is always kicking them around. He's also got a habit of pulling his legs up and trying to wrap them round my arms when I'm changing his nappies. His dad always picks things up with his toes so think he's inherited his monkey feet. As for his dad he helped me with poo nappy 3 today and has carried him around quite a bit while he's been grizzling. Dh does try it just really doesn't come naturally to him and he panics easily. I'm back to work in June and DH is having LO every Wednesday so he needs to "mum" up I am going to have to leave them together more and build his confidence as he's not going to be able to have me come running if there are problems (not that I know what I'm doing either Grin).

hawthers · 12/04/2012 22:19

figgy I bloody love that - all you DHs and DPs that are a bit rubbish you need to mum up!

OiMissus · 12/04/2012 22:55

Me too! "man up" sounds positively wimpy, like man flu in comparison.
"mum up, wimps!"

Hope all of the ill babies and mums feel better soon.

mopsy have you tried saline drops/spray? I thought it was just good for de-snotting, but we were told to use it when Eva had Bronchiolitis and it really seemed to help.

Eva has been miserable all day, she's full of mucus though so I wondor if it could be tummy ache. She's been sick more than usual and it has mucus in it, and DH said she done a really runny poo earlier which had stringy mucus in it (sorry tmi). Is it anything I need to worry about, and is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait for it to pass.

We done ok with our charity collection, me and my friend raised £155 between us in 3.5 hours, then spent the afternoon harassing businesses for raffle prizes for a quiz night next month. I saw Michael Gambon when he walked past me as well(!), though he didn't give me any money tight git.

AWomanCalledHorse · 13/04/2012 00:12

Has anyone heard from fairybayleaf recently? I've done a search and the most recent post was from Dec, hope her and DS are doing well, I think about them alot.

Hope all the ill mums & DC are better soon!
Was going to do an epic post but I can hear someone crying in the bedroom, gah! Night ladies

2nd night in a row with a poorly DS1. Changed his nappy 3 times since 9pm and he won't settle with anyone but me. His bottom is red raw from all the diarrhea. DS2 has woken once to feed since 7pm and is still v snotty.

Fascinators- as long as it's not like princess Beatrice 's you'll be fine!

Shame b'ham meet up isn't now, as that's where my parents live. In July I'll be mostly doing a 'my DH is back' dance in Norfolk!

seven with horrible nappies, just make sure they're not getting dehydrated, otherwise there's not much else you can do. DS2 vomits up mucus with his cold as well. Well done on the charity collection.

Figgygal · 13/04/2012 04:05

Gah ..........though I had predicted this overnight stop doesn't make it any easier!!

hawthers · 13/04/2012 04:09

morning all

aethelfleda · 13/04/2012 04:37

I refuse to believe it's morning yet! Prior to 6am is night in my book.

Oh, and mucussy puke is just cos when babes have snot it all gets swallowed (TMI) and fills up their tummies, they all do it.

Xiaoxiong · 13/04/2012 05:02

'Lo all - back from a wonderful few weeks in the States and was waiting to post until I could announce DS was over the jet lag - but it seemed like it was never going to happen! We took a night flight and arrived last Sat at 6am and it has taken a whole week to get him back on track. I never thought it would be that long (I don't really get jet lag). I will post in the morning on parenting differences I saw in the states as I kept seeing things and thinking you guys would get a kick out of hearing about it!

So nice to read back through everyone's posts while we've been away and nod along with everything - DS is having random sleep screams, rolling like crazy, is just starting to find his feet, tries to grab my wrists with his legs when changing...his hands are constantly in the jonny wilkinson clasp, and his cheeks are so chubby they are descending below his jawline!

In other news I think we've found a nanny...we met her this morning, she was recommended by our lovely cleaner and has over 10 years of experience (including one family where she took care of 4 under 6, including twins from birth!). Most importantly she is willing to be super flexible in terms of unexpected late nights and long hours (made up for by 15 weeks of holiday a year as DH can cover school holidays). She seemed to really click with Pirran - picked him right up, he stared at her and then grinned and although she was just here to meet us and have coffee, she offered to change a particularly hideous poo blowout and was so gentle with him - I am starting to think maybe we are too rough! Only worry is she is 35 and says she wants kids of her own...but we will cross that bridge if and when we come to it and make sure the contract is clear on the subject of sick and maternity leave and pay. She's going to take a 2 day paediatric first aid course on mon & tues and then I will have her in for a couple of mornings to see what she's like over longer stretches of time with him but I have a good feeling - fingers crossed it works out!

Now to try and get back to sleep - it's all very well not having jet lag from the flight but even apart from night feeds DS has started thrashing in his grobag every few hours which keeps waking me up.

LittleMissFlustered · 13/04/2012 05:31

Welcome back Tyel, I'd been wondering if DC had eaten you all alive:o

I'm on the fourth wake-up of the night and am feeling it. I could have set my watch by him tonight, every two hours at twenty past that particular hour:(

hawthers · 13/04/2012 06:32

Damn I missed the coffee relay in my dozy state. F has torn up the rule book on sleep and decided to do his own thing. Am hoping after a few nights like last night he'll eventually go longer or it will be a bumper weight gain week (or both..?)

neverenoughsleeportea · 13/04/2012 07:07

Name change test - its hawthers just trying it out

Figgygal · 13/04/2012 07:31

Well my overnight feed started at 3.45 with a nappy change bottle then he went straight back down with his musical seahorse was just getting comfy when bang the sound of a POOsplosion came over the monitor. I have to say it was awful! Finally got to bed and back to sleep about 5.30 and then another POOsplosion woke me at 6.45 going to have to call HV Sad. He doesn't seem Ill so am confused.

Welcome back tyel!!

LO has adopted a weird habit of sticking. His Tongue out when about to feed so struggle to get bottle in. Is he telling me he doesn't want it or is he saying feed me proper food mummy??

aethelfleda · 13/04/2012 07:37

Mmmm, tea please

welcome back tyel - have you time for a quick meetup before you get back to work? Well done with the nanny, though I must warn you that as employers you are duty bound to give her SMP if she works for 13 weeks for you (even if she is pregnant pretty much the moment she takes up the job...)

aethelfleda · 13/04/2012 07:43

Figgy, that sounds like a tongue-thrust reflex, it's an anti-chokimg protection and means they arent quite ready for solids yet. He should lose it soon and then crack out the mush (though avoid dairy and gluten until 6 months!)

msbuggywinkle · 13/04/2012 08:08

crap night's sleep. Me coughing, waking Miri, DD2 coughing, waking me...coffeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Figgygal · 13/04/2012 08:10

The strange thing is I haven't started weaning yet it's when I give him his bottle and only started a few days ago. He's also discovered his thumb and now constantly sucks on it whereas before he stuck his whole fist/ all his fingers in.

Am supposed to meet antenatal group girls and babies today but worried if he has got a bug it's not a good idea. Those fabulous baking brothers have their bakery 5 mins away from where I live might go up there today get some nice (ridiculously expensive) treats for weekend

GeeandTee · 13/04/2012 08:15

Welcome back Tyel! Very interested to hear about US parenting differences. That kind of thing always fascinates me.

3rd night of DD just feeding once overnight so hoping it is going to last. Unfortunately am still up every hour to settle/wind. She seems unable to sleep if there is even a tiny burp in there. V annoying!

AnAirOfHope · 13/04/2012 08:45

Happy friday 13th xx

its my 30th birthday today what should i do? So far i have coffee flapjack and opened cards.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/04/2012 09:00

Welcome back Tyel

Air Happy Birthday.

Sky woke at 3:30am and drank 7oz and was up again at 6:30am had a power nap just now, so will feed her and put her back down to see if she wants some more sleep.

Still no AF!

Rashkakeller · 13/04/2012 09:12

Happy Birthday, Air! Sounds like a good start to me, long may it continue x

Back to night feeds again, 12.30, 4 and 6.30 then grumbled until 7.20 so no more sleep for me. The only good thing is that he feeds for 10/15 minutes then falls asleep and goes back in his cot, hence why I don't post at night! I tend to get back to sleep fairly quickly.

Hope you all have a good day, I'm not planning too much. Dp has a community day to attend for work, which he hates so we will pop along to say hello then need to go to Asda for some bits and bobs. Also craving chicken meat from the chippy for some reason...
