William is definitely doing better at home, he's eating more and had a good sleep at last which I think helps too. I really have no idea how anyone is support to get better in hospital when the wards are so hot and noisy.
Hopefully apart from a test to check everything is ok and having his stent/drain taken out next Monday that should be it for his kidney, it should be acting like normal with no further procedures needed (he will also have a check up in a few months). Then we just have his head to worry about! So glad to have my little boy home though :o

strawberrypenguin · 20/03/2012 16:59

X posts sassy glad you and DP are talking again, hope he feels better soon. Sorry you have to miss the gym, I don't think it's being a bitch, it's hard to give up 'you' time for any reason when you don't get much of it.

sassy34264 · 20/03/2012 17:07

No he went to doc to see about counselling/CBT and doc told him he didn't need it! Confused think she hates using NHS mony or something?!
Tbh he was never as bad as he is now before he got diagnosed with depression, I think before he had a "label" he felt he still needed to try and pull himself up, whereas since he has been diagnosed it's as though he just lays back and lets it overwhelm him.

Think I'll suggest he goes back to doc and see about CBT.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 20/03/2012 17:24

sassy oxymoron?

Glad W is getting better.

I do feel I need to give him time/opportunity to get better because he is essentially a good man and it would literally crush C not having him here every day.

sassy34264 · 20/03/2012 18:01

you should go with him and tell doc, in front of him, that he does need it or he will lose everything he holds dear. you have give him ultimatums and it hasnt stopped him though. have you thought - why is that? i would think, 1. he either cant stop, so needs help. 2. he doesnt think you will follow through, so he can get away with it. and therefore, 3. he doesnt respect you enough to stop

in the meantime, can you not start having conversations with him that start- 'when we split up'........... Grin

yes- oxymoron- that's exactly it.

I have had those conversations with him and I've said that I don't see us lasting etc.
The "worst" thing I've said to him so far is that when we split up he will only be getting the kids under supervision if he insists on using drugs! He has stopped again for now so we shall see! He has For the past few months been going to toilet a LOT I said I think his liver and/or kidneys are damaged from all the drinking, he is going to docs about that this week if I'm right he'll need to go teetotal anyway.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 20/03/2012 18:17

Only just remembered that I have a dressmaker coming to the house tonight to see about mhairi's christening gown, me and kids are still in pjs Blush and house is a mess so just had to run round making myself and living room presentable.

Blooming christening is turning into a mini wedding! Is going to cost at least £500 Shock

FuzzzyDuck · 20/03/2012 20:37

Ok, I understand it all now. Can't offer advice re depression. It's not something I or anyone I know has suffered from. I do hope things work out ed Sad. How did it go with dress maker?!

I had a nice wee day out with my girl. We parked at local tesco and walk along the canal to feed the ducks, but typically no ducks were to be found!! Stopped and had some lunch then walked back. Really can't wait till the weather gets warmer. Lovely walks in the sun and stopping for a picnic Grin

S has def got her appetite back! Couldn't fill her up this morning. She had a 7oz bottle at 8, bowl of her porridge at 9 followed by kiwi, a yoghurt and some of my toast! Stopped for lunch and she was eye balling me as I ate so she had some apple and banana followed by some of the organix carrot stick crisp things HmmGrin. Dinner was pasta with some tomato sauce with sweet potato, broccoli, tuna and a sprinkle of cheese! She ate a bit from the spoon but decided mine looked better (red pepper pesto pasta) and cried for it. There was almonds in it so no way she could have some. I ended up pouring hers out onto her tray and she ate it that way with her fingers and my help! Put some more tuna and grated cheese down which she really enjoyed. Just the mess after it, dear god!! She has good co ordination getting it to her mouth but if she drops it or misses her mouth she gives up and sits like Shock till I put some in!! It is funny!! Grin

LittlePebble · 20/03/2012 21:20

fuzzzy wow she's eating loads! I'm stuck in what to do after veg purées and have lost my book Confused

FuzzzyDuck · 20/03/2012 21:34

lp think I will have to invest in a good recipe book as my mind is a bit blank. Really want to just be giving her what I'm having to save the faff of making two meals at a time. Was waiting till 26 wks to introduce fish/meat but today was close enough!! She is genuinely showing much more of an interest in food so want to go with it now. She even protested today when I was eating a mini egg!! Had to put them away lol!
How is E getting on with food? What have you been offering?

LittlePebble · 20/03/2012 22:09

So far baby rice, porridge, and puréed apple, pear, sweet potato, butternut squash, carrot, parsnip and broccoli (which he hated). I want to add some different foods in now but am not sure what to do next. What yoghurt do you give her?

CheshireDing · 20/03/2012 22:20

Pebble we have used the petit fleurs (or whatever they are called) yoghurts because they should not have low fat and I guess other yoghurts have cows milk Confused, not sure if I have this right or not.

P is having meat this weekend and fish from the market - according to DH Grin

Celery is good because it's easy for them to hold.

Where's Pene, has she gone on holiday again Smile?

LittlePebble · 20/03/2012 23:25

E is poorly. Nasty cough and all snuffly. Took forever to get him down and now he's awake 2hrs later and is fast asleep in my arms but screams the minute I try and put him down Sad.

FuzzzyDuck · 20/03/2012 23:31

Yes I've been offering the petite ones. My HV gave me a great list of yoghurt/cheesy things for kids that are low sugar but I've no clue where I put it. Will have a proper look tomorrow.

I don't eat a lot of meat myself, more quorn but I'm not so keen to give her that while still young. I got some baby stock cubes to make some soup with. I done lentil before with no stock and it tastes awful. Was no wonder she refused!! I'm thinking soup as she liked eating the soggy bread that I dipped in! Trying to think of what we used to make babies in nursery... Macaroni cheese, tomato pasta, cottage pie (really just stewed mince with veg and mash), mild chicken curry and rice, lentil soup, chicken casserole, fish with mash, tina bake (tuna, baked beans and mash with cheese on top, kids loved this!!), beans in toast. Ok can't think of much else! The babies always did have the same as older kids, we would just blend to the consistency they needed. I guess after 6 months pretty much everything is suitable. We are off to London for 5 days on the 31st so when we get back, will be offering the full whack.

Anyone with suggestions/recommendations for a recipe book? The family I nanny for have AK and I made the kids a few things from that. Maybe worth trying to get from eBay.

FuzzzyDuck · 20/03/2012 23:32

Aww, poor baby Sad

sassy34264 · 21/03/2012 00:03

i have the gina ford recipe book.

not my choice, my mum bought it for me without knowing anything about her. i will admit that it is good -reluctantly.

the yogurts are petit filous or little stars.

im a bit -gasp- when i read what you are given s fuzzy but thats cos i am in the mindset of someone who learnt about weaning 11 years ago! im sticking to that, so no finger food till eva is 10 months. i'll be the old lady of the group. Grin and you can all laugh and shake your heads at my out of date ideas and i'll smile knowingly as if to say, young uns today! Wink

pebble poor e, hope he sleeps. x

Jnice · 21/03/2012 02:23

My thoughts on yogurt, by full fat plain and add some of the fruit purée you have on hand - otherwise you might end up with a kid with a really sweet tooth. Even now with DS2 I give plain yogurt with a spoon of jam mixed in, taste wise it's way less sweet than a flavored yogurt.

Petit filou is made from cows milk too, so no different really.

LittlePebble · 21/03/2012 05:53

Good idea Jnice I'll try that today.
Sassy so do you only give DC's puréed food until 10 months or do you wait until then to do BLW? Amazing how advice changes so much isn't it. I'm trying to be led by E and my instinct as I seem to get such conflicting advice everywhere.

E is in with me, poor DP got kicked into spare room as I panic he'll roll on E and every time the calpol wears off E wakes up crying Sad poor little mite no swimming or yoga for us today.

Cheshire was it you who asked about baby French? I did 6 weeks and learnt loads of lovely songs but now am waiting until he's a bit older to go back as I think I know enough songs for now. He LOVES Allouette it's secret weapon to stop him crying Grin

LittlePebble · 21/03/2012 05:54

It's my secret weapon Blush

strawberrypenguin · 21/03/2012 08:18

lp funny how a song can do that isn't it? With W it's 'groovy kind of love' :o I sang it to him randomly when he was new born and he was crying and he stopped, it works for me almost every time

sassy34264 · 21/03/2012 09:05

pebble no i dont puree until 10 months. i puree then make it textured, so basically puree but not completely down to mush and then i move onto just mushing with the back of a fork, so its lumpy and then i'll finger food.
you might say, why bother when they can just eat it, but imo you can get a lot more into them when you spoon feed it in. a lot of food gets wasted and they take FOVEREVER and also im too worried about choking.
like i say, it works for me.

Dressmaker went well I can't wait to see her gown when it's made, think it will be beautiful and she's only charging £40 Shock

Christopher was going through the junk drawer this morning and found some old nipple shields and has been running round all morning with them on his ears saying look at my funny ears Grin
