when I started running after DD 10 minute miles were good again Grin

will see the physio on Friday and tentatively ask when she thinks I might be up to running again.

I met someone at a playgroup (mother of 7 month old) who is also a climber. I haven't been to the local wall yet so I am hoping this might lead to something. You do need someone to go with really (at least to begin with anyway)

sassy34264 · 18/03/2012 20:44

engel i did a 5k for the 1st time at the gym (so easier as no hills) on thurs night. a lady from the twins thread has lost 3 stone and been doing the couch to 5k programme and did it for the first time the day before and posted about it. i decided if she can do it, i csn too. went really slow to be sure i could make it. i did it in 38 mins. my pb is 26 mins and that was during a triathlon race where i had swam and biked before it, so you can see, i am a loooong way off being as fit as i was! damn and feck........ Grin

we took kids to soft play today and decided to have a meal too. only a cheapy pub meal but it was nice. got breakfast almost in bed this morning, but decided to come downstairs after my 3 hour lie in! dp had it all set up on a tray for me, bacon and omelette, a hot cross bun, strawberry smoothie, pure apple juice, and a yogurt. also got box of chocs, bar of choc, a beautiful card and a heart necklace! bloody hell its almost unheard of for dp to be so thoughtful. i usually get a card and flowers from the corner shop - bought the night before. umph.

glad S is ok fuzzy

Blush not really pebble i dont go out that often and when i do 9 times out of 10 its a car journey. going to playgroup tomorrow and will be using it then. also last 2 times i have gone out, (apart from today) it has been to take the twins for a walk in their reins to tire them out. they walked nearly a mile the 2nd time and slept like logs for their nap. ohhhh. forgot to say that my sil has got though the 1st two auditions for the x factor!!!! apparantly though, she still has one more to go before she sees the celebrity judges!

spoke to her at her ds's christening after she got up to sing Aand told her for the upteenth time that she needs to addition, and she was still reluctant, she lacks confidence, but she must of decided or been persuaded by someone to do it. she is really really good. fx.

Happy Mother's Day all. It's my 4th Mother's Day, but the first that DD has understood... kind of. Last year she made a card and present at nursery and got really upset that DH wouldn't let her give it to me as soon as I got home.... So I had mothering Friday. This year she did slightly better. She brought a mystery plant home from school, which DH hid for her, there's a shoot there but she doesn't know what she planted so we'll see in a few weeks. She also made a card which she hid herself.... in my boots.... the ones I always wear. :o So I pretended I'd not seen it and wore my other boots yesterday. DH also bought me some Angel DVD's.

Had a lovely day. Seth woke at 7:30 he was in bed with us already DD came and joined us, we had half an hour of cuddles then I kicked them all out of bed, DH brought be a cup of tea and I stayed in bed reading for an hour. Then I spent the rest of the day gardening. Seth was more than happy to sit in the pram all day watching me & DD. DD would never do that so I'm hoping for lots of days in the garden before I go back to work... although with the amount I've chopped down there may not be much garden left. Hmm

sassy well done to your SIL, even though I hate programmes like that. Hope she gets her confidence up.

No weaning happening at all here. Seth sits on my lap most meal times and he's not interested. We didn't wean DD till 6 months and it still took a few weeks though so we'll leave Seth a few more weeks yet. I could do with him losing some weight anyway. :)

Have any other LO's got any quirky mannerisms?
Seth likes to hold his left foot. If he's not chewing on toys or a cloth he'll just hold his foot. Never his right one, only his left.

MamaMaiasaura · 18/03/2012 22:34

bil aww at Seth with his foot Grin too cute. Jessica likes her muzzy or nearest material available over her thumb and sucks it noisily. I really wanted to hold off til 6 months and feel so guilty she's started early. She's grabbing food tho and as I want to go blw with her, I guess if I stopped her then it wouldn't be baby led.

2nd night of ds2 in his own bed (tho last night he came into me at 1.30am). I miss him and find it hard to get off to sleep without him Sad. I know it's a good thing but still....

Fleecy · 18/03/2012 22:45

Have only just managed to catch up!

Hope you're okay scheh and that little S is okay fuzzy

No weaning here either. L will be 24wks tomorrow and seems perfectly happy with milk so far. We're going to stay with friends in Jersey at the beginning of April so I figured it would be easier to wait until we get back. Have ordered a highchair in the meantime so we're ready - the old one was in a right old state so we ditched it.

L rolled for me for the first time today! So a good Mother's Day.

Scratches around the eyes here too. Mean to trim her nails more frequently but forget...

bilblio · 18/03/2012 22:53

Mama yes Seth does that with cloth too. I have to roll the sleeves of babygros right back because if he can get his thumb inside, he will.
I've also had a few panics when I've thought he had blood in his poo, only to realise he must have got hold of the fluffy red crocheted blanket.
Mum keeps telling me off for giving him a muslin to chew in case he ends up always wanting to carry one, but I'd rather he did that than suck on the blankets my washer is old and objects when I wash them. :o

Also I forgot who mentioned meeting at the Trafford Centre? I'm up for that.

FuzzzyDuck · 18/03/2012 23:09

That's funny with the little quirky things they do. When s is tired and ready to sleep, she put both the backs of her hands over her eyes (as if 'oh it's awful!' kinda thing). It's really cute! She does do other things, but my mind has went blank.. Blush

Well done little L fleecy!!!

LittlePebble · 19/03/2012 07:58

Does anyone else have little panics about things that could happen? I have these odd scenarios that sometimes come into my head eg: last night I panicked the ceiling would fall onto his cot (mrsH did that happen to you on antenatal thread?).
They can be a bit like nightmares but I'm awake and I have to ignore them so I don't become neurotic. Anyone else do this or am I a bit bonkers? which is a distinct possibility

sassy34264 · 19/03/2012 08:08

pebble i do it too. i woke up one morning at 3am and thought that if i dont go and check on the twins then , well i dont really want to write down what i was thinking. checked on them and woke isobel up. cue on and off crying for next 15mins which woke dp up. he was well chuffed. i imagine all sorts of stuff, none of which i can write down as it might jinx me. i have a very over active imagination.

bilblio it was me who mentioned trafford centre meet up. im only 25mins by car. dp has an interview this wed and next monday, other than that i can meet whenever.

playgroup this morning. better go and be a whirlwind.

MrsHende · 19/03/2012 09:04

Pebble, yes, it was me who had the ceiling fall down. There is barely a night goes by without me thinking about it. I calm down by telling myself that we now have a totally new ceiling so there is no way it will happen again...but then I get stressed about her being in her own room. I lie in bed planning escape routes and working out how quickly I could get up and pick her up if something happened. Overactive imaginations run riot in the middle of the night! DH thinks I'm nuts and just can't understand it.

Trying to tackle sleep this week. Anyone got any advice or recommendations? L goes down beautifully at 7pm and wakes at 11ish for a feed. All fine so far! It's the rest of the night that's an issue. She'll wake another twice, maybe 1-2am then again around 4am then is awake for the day at 5.30am! I feed her to sleep every time she wakes.

(I think sleep deprivation isn't helping with the over active imagination...!Grin)

Enjoy playgroup sassy, it's bounce and rhyme for us today!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/03/2012 09:07

littlrpebble yes, I have moments of being a bit neurotic. When it's windy that a tree will fall on bedroom and squish baby. Also if something's been in news, like car crash, murder etc I worry what ifs. I'm not too bad. When I had ds1 and PND it was to the point I was scared of taking him out and every night I'd have nightmares and think about it through the day. I think it's normal to have irrational worries a bit, but if they take over best to chat to hv.

CheshireDing · 19/03/2012 11:38

My obsession is falling down the stairs whilst carrying P and her snapping her neck - lovely thought that eh! DH says the neck snapping is unlikely and it's more likely a head injury (nice).

P is having serious teething issues this morning, I have just given her some Nelsons for the first time and she has fallen asleep on me within 15 minutes! Am hoping she perks up in the next couple of hours for swimming.

Pebble are you still doing baby French? I wondered how it was going.

bilblio · 19/03/2012 12:59

I panic about falling down the stairs too. I did fall downstairs once when I was carrying DD. I can't remember how old she was but she must have been crawling age, but not old enough to do stairs age. I slipped landed on my bum and went down about 3 stairs before crashing into the stair gate. DD was fine, not a mark on her and didn't cry.
I had some fantastic bruises, I thought I'd broken some toes where they'd hit the bars of the stairgate, and I'm sure I broke my coccyx. Sitting down was agony for months!

I had several panic attacks during both pregnancies if I was driving alone in case I had an accident as I had no ID and no-one would know who I was.... didn't make me carry ID though. Hmm

cheshire hope P's teeth sort tehmselves out soon. Hurrah for teething powders, we love them here.

We've had a busy morning, Aldi to stock up on nappies & wipes, then tesco for breast pads, but they've sold out. Again! I'm going to have to ration myself. Came home, and watched the last episode of The Walking Dead. Seth is asleep so I'm going to quickly sweep and mop then do some baking... if I don't I'll end up breaking my Lent fast and I'll be buying biscuits.

FuzzzyDuck · 19/03/2012 13:28

Bilb- how are you finding aldi nappies? I'm coming to the end of my stash so will be buying prob in next few wks. I done the survey when she was a few wks old and liked them. Currently using pampers and I find they are the best fit with her, huggies seem to gape everywhere! There is a pack of asda ones at my mums that fit her well to so don't know if I should just keep with them. Think they are £5.50 (ish!) for 44. What are aldis if you don't mind me asking? Smile

CheshireDing · 19/03/2012 16:58

MrsH I meant to say before that is a bit like P with her sleep.

She goes down around 7.30pm, I feed around 10pm (just before I go to bed), then she wakes about 1am and 4am. I feed her on those occasions but sometimes she does start waking at 6-ish too. She seems to be able to go back to sleep if I shush her through the mobile. If I go in to the room anytime during the night I cannot get her to just go back to sleep (DH can) I always end up feeding her.

I have cut out caffeine and have been having a Camomile and Honey tea just before bed. I have no idea if this is helping at all, except that her sleep has improved over the last week and yesterday I had a few mugs of normal tea and didn't have my Camomile and P was awake on-and-off all last night :( My theory is there is Camomile in the teething powder as it's supposed to calm/settle them so that's why I am drinking the tea.

The other day though I realised she had gone 7 hours without a feed. Last feed was probably around 4am, then we were up for the day showered and out and not back until around 11am. She never asked for a feed during all this time - so I no she can do, she clearly just doesn't want to overnight :( :(

Scheherezade · 19/03/2012 18:13

Hello all!

Weaning going v well here, if anything I'm worrying we're going too fast! I've been sitting him down with me at mealtimes and giving him one cube of apple, carrot or banana puree. He gets broccoli to finger food at dinner as well. I'm worried he's not going to get enough milk because of it. I'm definitely full up as he's having less.

To encourage him back into a good feeding routine and monitor how much milk he has I'm stopping bf and going to express and feed him from bottle. Then staff can feed him too. He's just all over the place with snacking and comfort feeding atm so hopefully that will help.

When/how much are other babies getting for milk? C is 6months next Saturday. I'm worried we've gone too fast but he just loves it! And its only one cube....(though he got 2 for dinner tonight).

Scheherezade · 19/03/2012 18:22

I might cut out the lunch feed and just do breakfast and tea.

Scheherezade · 19/03/2012 18:24

Mind, he didn't have lunch today, just played with some chopped apple.

Sorry for multiple posts, on phone and it cuts out if message too long!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/03/2012 20:20

Quick question. J last 2 nights has screamed broken heartedly when dh has had her and I've been with ds2. To the point she's shuddering but as soon as she's back with me she settles. Poor dh. I remember the boys mummy only stage, but couldn't remember when. Anyone else's babies just wanting mummy?

FuzzzyDuck · 19/03/2012 20:29

mama S done this a few times last week, once with my dad (who she knows very well) and once with the doctor. She was proper sobbing but was fine as soon as I took her back. Maybe it's the age, more aware now of 'mummy'

MrsHende · 19/03/2012 20:36

I'm sure I read somewhere that it's around six months that babies want mummy only. Poor Dads and grandparents.

FuzzzyDuck · 19/03/2012 20:40

The whole separation thing I guess. With the doctor I can understand. She sobbed the whole way home! She was just lookin at him like 'who are you?!'. It was funny with my dad, he couldn't hand her back to me quick enough Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 19/03/2012 21:31

Glad she's not the only one. She is rather dramatic with it Grin
