Ed happy 6 months to M. Agree that asking for 24 hours just to be on the safe side is a good idea.

sassy poor I, hope she perks up soon, a dose if calpol might just do the trick

fuzzzy had to Grin at your dream

We've had a good morning here, took W in to rhyme time which he loves (all those interesting people to look at) had a good chat with my work friends (I work in the library) then back home. Was really nice I've been feeling a bit isolated the last couple of days, not sure why nothing happening that's different to normal just really feeling the lack of other mum friends to hang out with. Now I'm typing one handed while rocking a sleepy and grumpy W who apparently doesn't want a nap Grin

BB3 · 26/04/2012 14:32

Penguin - 50kg - wow that's teeny, while part of me would love to be losing weight right now, I'm guessing not you're not and not that much! Any reason you can think of?

Sassy - I'd try calpol if it doesn't make any different then don't give any more and hopefully she will give you some hints as to why she is upset later xx

PenguinArmy · 26/04/2012 14:39

to be fair I am short and always knew I was a few pounds over idea. However I was fit and exercised frequently so didn't care. My more shallow concern is whether once I stop bf and running round after two children will it go back up again. As the weight loss isn't due to eating less (I'm still on four meals a day) or exercise. Pre DD 55kg (which had been stable for years), pre DS 52/53kg (running regularly and not eating crap as food in CA was expensive). I am only 5'1"

strawberry I think a lot of people have been feeling a bit down lately, a few different circles of life seem to saying the same. I blame the weather Grin, I know I am not going to the park or outside as much.

I am very free with the calpol

I have now run around and did rest of tidying. Now wait for DD to wake (DS will be soon) and then I have to collect all the left over clothes from the clothes swap I have helped organised. Except I haven't been touch with any charities yet to see if they will want it so a load of bags will have to sit in the flat for a bit.

sassy34264 · 26/04/2012 15:14

strawberry im not feeling down but i am feeling stressed! ive barely been out lately as playgroup has been shut for 4 weeks.

Haha! Poor you too then Grin
I go stir crazy when I've not left the house all say or if no one has came to mine. As much as I love S, I need a bit of adult company sometimes!!
She slept for a total of 1 hr 45 this morning and has been asleep since 2.40pm again on me meaning I can't do anything but it's lovely to be all snuggled
pa have you thought of maybe your thyroid? Apparently thyroid problems are very common after pregnancy. 50kg is very tiny even at 5'1

BB3 · 26/04/2012 15:52

I just bought this for our holiday. It is a complete waste of money - complete. But I have completely ignored that fact.

So we had DS' ENT appointment yesterday. I almost lost my temper at the beginning when they attempted to do the hearing test we had already had because they couldn't find the results - then magically found them after distressing DS so much to do it only for it to say exactly the same thing. But once we finally got to see the consultant, he was really good. DS is having grommets put in and adenoids taken out in two months but he thinks he might have to have an operation on his inner ear as there are indicators that it might be a bit more than glue ear. It's basically going to be a process of operation, hearing test, operation hearing test until it's either fixed or declared a permanent hearing loss. Ordinarily he would need to have another hearing test in three months before the operation but the doctor believes it is too urgent so has over ruled the guidelines. It means it has to go to panel to be approved but he can't see a problem. I don't know whether to be pleased it's going ahead so soon or sad that it needs to because it's so bad! hurrumph!

sassy34264 · 26/04/2012 16:23

oh bb3 im so sorry. what a shame for k. Sad heres hoping he needs the least operations as possible and that it results in him hearing well. x

FuzzzyDuck · 26/04/2012 16:27

bb3 that looks fun!!! Have you managed to work out luggage/washing situation so you don't need to take 100+ items of clothing...?! We are away a week tomorrow so I'm just making lists of what to take. A friend over there is lending us car seat, travel cot etc so only big thing to take is buggy. Really want to take my new oyster rather than just the maclaren stroller but don't know if I'm just being silly and not practical... Confused. Spoke to cousin who told me its still cold(ish) over there just now Angry. Had hoped that by going in may it would be warm!! Sad to hear about ds. Good though I guess that consultant is seeing that it must be done sooner rather than later. How is K coping with it all?

sassy34264 · 26/04/2012 16:30

bb3 love it! i think you are going to struggle finding somewhere to pack it though! im dreading when we go. i think me and dp will have to take 2 outfits each,. just to be under the luggage amount!

strawberrypenguin · 26/04/2012 16:33

I think you ladies are right, it's the weather and being stuck in the house, here's hoping for a few nice days soon Smile

BB3 poor DS is it a big op? What do they have to do? Hope he only needs the one. Good that they are finally doing something to help him though. How's he doing with it all?
Love the pool float, looks like fun Grin

sassy hope you have a lovely day with all of you home tomorrow Smile

BB3 · 26/04/2012 18:03

Thanks ladies -

He's having grommets in and adenoids out for the first op and if they can some exploratory work on his inner ear - they don't want him under ga for too long though so will depend how quickly they can get the first two procedures done. It should be about an hour from start to finish then recovery - all general procedures so nothing scary at this point. Hopefully the first ones work otherwise he'll have to have slightly more invasive ones!

Re holiday we have 20kg for the adults, nothing for Karahan, and 10kgs each free for the girls. Plus free buggy and travel cot so we should be ok. Going to make sure dh and I fill one 20kg case (which will be the biggest challenge) the baby stuff the second 20kg case, 10kg for k's clothes and bits and 10kgs for the girls clothes and bits. Plus 10kg hand luggage each! I worked out with hold luggage, free luggage and hand luggage we have an allowance of over 150kg which would be fine if i could physically carry that much Grin. We are going to do a couple of washes a week at my bil's house but don't want to take the mickey too much as they have just had a baby so have so much going on of their own.

Fuzz I would take the stroller. I just bought a new double stroller as I'm too scared the bugaboo will get damaged in the hold. I'd love to have taken their big buggy really but I'd be gutted if it got ruined.

MrsHende · 26/04/2012 22:51

Lizzie just took 5oz of formula from a bottle! Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 26/04/2012 22:52

Yay!!! Well done L GrinGrinGrin

Penelope1980 · 26/04/2012 23:09

sassy I have to see a podiatrist and can't run because I have hyper-mobile joints, which in my case manifests itself as foot pain when I run while my leg muscles are weak. Squats and lunges help because the stronger they are, the less my knee joints wobble and foot joints over-pronate. If that makes sense.

sassy34264 · 26/04/2012 23:35

pen i have no knowlege of the symptoms you describe. but i do know how muscles work,. and you have to overload them to gain benefits. so continously doing squats and lunges without upping a weight amount,. will have no benefit. you hzve to work a muscle to fatigue/failure for it to repair itself and therefore get stringer. doing squats and lunges only using your own body weight as resistance only works until your muscles get used to it. iyswim

BB3 · 26/04/2012 23:57

Doesn't repetition build strength as well as loading muscles? not that I know what I'm talking about!

sassy34264 · 27/04/2012 00:05

no bb3 repetition makes your muscles get used to it and stop responding.

the biggest thing that females do wrong is choosing little weights and doing it for a long time. if you want definition and toned muscles you need to do no more than 8 reps and fail on the last rep. ie, you shouldnt be able to lift the weight on the 8th try. if you can, then the weight is too low for you. keep upping until you fail on the 8th rep.

Penelope1980 · 27/04/2012 00:54

Given I have been using A for my squat weight, it's safe to say that it's going up Grin Good advice though

pinkpainter · 27/04/2012 02:17

I'm not doing an excercise either except for literally runnng around after the girls and trying to keep my house clean and tidy - I'm guessing that bf is helping too. I'm loosing 1lb a week, which is great, and I have 4lbs left to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight of 8'2 - I hope it stops there though and that I can get back into my pp jeans if my shape hasn't changed.

PA - hope you're ok, good suggestion about checking for thyroid problems - but if that's not the case can it just be that you're loosing the weight because it's such hard work being a mum?

BB3 - Do you have a bugaboo donkey then? We bought a very cheap tacky pink buggy from ebay when DD1 was 9 months for a trip abroad as we didn't want our quinny crushed in the hold (friends of ours had recently had theirs wrecked by flying) - we ended up using it loads when we got back, I hated the look of it but so much easier to get up and down.

Ed - I think it's good you're trying to work things out, imo I would say no to social drinking though - teetotal is the way forward, that's just my opinion though.

M is 6 months and 2 days now and just started sitting yesterday, only for a few seconds but it's a start. She's doing well with her BLW - but the last couple of nights she's been waking in the night and feeding loads more last thing before bed. I had been used to a 7/8 hr stretch (lucky I know - my first DD woke every 3 hours and didn't sleep through until 18mnths) - is a growth spurt around now common? I had hoped the food would fill her up a bit more.

pinkpainter · 27/04/2012 02:21

BB3 - love the float, please can we have a photo on the FB page of the girls in it - so cute!

Jnice · 27/04/2012 04:57

BB hope all goes well for DS op, and fx that it's all remedied first time around. Glad that they are taking steps to get to the bottom of it quickly.

MrsH - yay Lizzie!

We are in Tofino on the west coast and one of my favorite beaches in the world. Bliss! Leo was on my knee in a restaurant last night where he deftly took a peashoot from my salad and popped it straight in his mouth. I fished it out as it was not ideal! We then gave him a roasted carrot which he sucked for a bit. I think it's safe to say my baby isn't so little anymore and is ready to wean Sad I think I'm reluctant as he's my last and I feel like its all happening too fast Sad

Jnice · 27/04/2012 04:58

BB the floatie looks great! Yy to photos please!

Jnice · 27/04/2012 05:02

One more post - sorry!

I ran on the beach today (flat) and according to run keeper it took me 37 minutes to do 5km - I think that's a personal worst Sad

My pelvic bones are complaining after it too. Must focus a bit more on core. Sassy thanks for the tips re weights.

Has anyone tried insanity? The DVDs? Someone is burning me a copy and I'm slightly terrified. Her baby just turned 1 and she looks really strong and very toned.
