We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

I had cake for lunch too! Just keep trying different groups to meet lots of local mums and you'll find some mums you'll get on with. She sounds a little odd... I did baby sensory today with A which was great. She seemed to respond a little and was calm throughout. The other mums all knew each other and were cliquey but that's fine. I have mum friends now and am doing the class more to do something with a other than feed and dump in chair to sort out dd1.

One of my very good mum friends had a little girl tues am Smile she lost a load of blood though and is struggling with feeding so any brooking her way would be good!

Dh is driving me insane with his man flu. He has the worst immune system known to man and does NOTHING when ill. He was grumpy with dd1 when she was trying do hard to be gentle with him as requested. He also drops weight overnight (lean to start with) which is really grating at the moment as I feel so yuck and flabby. I too want to lose weight but cannot face doing anything more than eating no prep no cook rubbish all day. I blame the sleep deprivation!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/04/2012 00:47

Sorry, too sleepy to have read today's posts. Just wanted to pop my head in on my first official night shift! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 26/04/2012 01:49

Welcome Scream!!! Thanks

I am so excited that you're getting all these snuggles! And that feeding seems to have got off to such a good start!

Hope you're getting some rest. I am looking forward to a birth story (obv when you're up to it) and hearing how it all went (and whether they let your IMW in etc. and also how the SPD (or hopefully lack of it) is going.

Pomme yyy to feeling flabby and yuk, but still eating crap all day. You might recall me saying I lost some weight in the first week or so? That was, what we in the trade call, a 'fluke' Sad. I've put it back on Blush and really need to do something. Especially since I was at least 2 stone overweight before I got pg. I'm now probably 2.5 stone overweight Sad and just way too lazy to actually do anything about losing it.

I am very keen to lose weight just as long as it doesn't require me to actually change my frankly terrible eating habits. That's perfectly possible right? I'd happily do some easy exercise but that's kinda tricky with ds1 to look after most of the time too. Ho hum....

Biscuitsandtea · 26/04/2012 01:53

Oooh, but guess what? E has just gone more than 5.5 hours between feeds! Shock. And I was in bed at 8:30 so actually got the benefit of it. Smile

Now last night he did the same sort of thing but then kept me up for 2 hours because he couldn't get back to sleep so fingers crossed we aren't repeating that bit too Confused

And brooking for your mate Pomme - I can relate to struggling with the bf (and a lot of blood loss) from DS1 do I'm really hoping things turn a corner for her xx

Biscuitsandtea · 26/04/2012 01:56

AND (sorry for the cluster posting) I'm brooking for Scarlet - hope miniscarlet is currently making his or her way out from a head down position.

Come on baby scarlet - we all want to meet you!

hawthers · 26/04/2012 04:49

Hi scream great to see you over here. Congratulations and so pleased to hear bf has started well.

I forget how old any of the DC1s are but I wondered do any of you own a games console that has a dance or fitness game with it? Would you be able to turn it into something fun to do with DC and lose weight?

I'll go back to lurking for about 5 more months,,

jaggythistle · 26/04/2012 11:26

i have Wii fit and Wii sports stuff cakes, but DS1 who is 2.7 doesn't really get the idea of mummy having a turn!

when i want to lose weight i use the Paul McKenna 'i can make you thin' book and cd. i like it because it works and you can eat what you want as long as you follow the simple instructions. no counting stuff or bad foods. i think i have too much need to snack right now to pay attention to what I'm shovelling in.

I'm unreasonably happy because ds2 was weighed yesterday and was back to his birth weight already! such a difference from when ds1 was born and really struggled with tongue tie etc and i was messing about expressing and cup feeding. DS2 appears to be an expert wee feeder. although me knowing what to do with him and having confidence has helped.

i am also proud that i finally managed to have a poo yesterday after a whole week. Shock i was worried it was going to be as big as DS2 Blush.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/04/2012 12:22

Grin at Jaggy. Congratulations on your poo! Grin Grin And of course on DS2's excellent weight gain.

I don't have a Wii or anything, Cakes, but that does sound like a good idea! I shall do exercise DVDs instead in a few weeks when I can be arsed and Bean can watch me and laugh.

Biscuits, yay for 5.5 hours sleep! Well done, Ethan. I was not smart enough to go to sleep when M did (also at 8.30), but watched the Apprentice and the beginning of that Turtle Boy programme. Why am I so stupid? Last night was awful - she woke up at 1.30 and wouldn't sleep again until 3, then had one hour interspersed with a bit of gurning, and then we were up again from 4 to 5, and then another gurny hour until the alarm went off at 6, at which point she fell asleep but I was supposed to be getting up so kept hitting Snooze every 10 mins until 7. Then I had to get up and drive DH to work, dash back here and shower and feed Maia before my doctor's appt at 9.15.

I am also at least 2 stone overweight Sad.

Goodness, you wouldn't think such a tiny girl could trump so loudly! (Not me, Bean! I may be short but I'm definitely not tiny)

Pomme, hope your friend is okay. Brooking for her. Man flu is infuriating. DH came home yesterday and basically collapsed into bed saying he was exhausted. Hmm That was infuriating too.

Welcome to the night shift, Scream!

DreamingOfPeace · 26/04/2012 13:16

Yawn

Still no improvement at night here.

Well done with your first night with Autumn scream, what a good girl feeding so nicely on night one. I was amazed too after having DD at the love. I'd expected to love my baby but not so fiercely and strongly straight away. And it only gets stronger and better, totally magic :-) . Will also look forward to your birth story.

Fab news on the weight and the poo jaggy, excellent work on both scores.

pomme you look like a naturally slim person on your bump pics. I remember it taking longer than I thought after DD but the bf diet did kick in, no need to remove any chocolate/cake. I reckon it'll feel better by three months. (Ignoring the fact I couldn't get my normal trousers on today, would have been sore on my wound but also just far too tight!)

DreamingOfPeace · 26/04/2012 13:18

And yes, your poor friend pomme, I lost quite a lot of blood both times, its hard. Hope she feels better soon and enjoys her new baby! (Enjoys, or endures ;-) )

Oh, and both my boys have baby acne! DD never had a little pizza face like this!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/04/2012 13:30

Maia has milk spots, is that the same as baby acne? They aren't red, just little raised bumps. It's not very noticeable except to me.

Roll on 3 months, then!

DreamingOfPeace · 26/04/2012 13:34

Nope, mine have milk spots which i think are quite cute and baby acne which is not!

jaggythistle · 26/04/2012 14:32

DS1 had baby acne at the same time all his newborn hair fell out, v attractive wee baldy!

had to be brave and cut DS2's tiny nails today, his hands are v active and his face and hands were getting scratchy. he just lay and watched me which was quite nice. oh, and then he was sick into his ear...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/04/2012 14:39

Milk spots? Is that what the teeny tiny white spots on Autumn's nose are?

For anyone interested, I've posted my birth story on the antenatal thread. I don't think it's even sunk in yet that I'm really truly no longer pregnant!! Grin Eeek!!! It's just too good to be true!

On getting up today my hips and legs felt sooooo much better. Thanks for asking Hawthers. A lot of that is just the drugs i'm sure, but I'm hopeful it's also a positive sign for the future! I've been taking NSAIDs since the op and it seems to have totally sorted my sciatica (that's my normal non-pg sciatica treatment anyway). It's just a question of whether my hips still hurt when I stop taking all these drugs...

I hope everyone else had good nights with their miniest people? Autumn was up most of the night feeding. I couldn't seem to get her into a good latch but at 2 am I decided to try some biological nurturing and it turns out Autumn is much better at finding a good latch on her own!

I'm not actually a smug cow I promise, it's all just tongue in cheek. I'm genuinely amazed at how head over heels I am for Autumn already though! It's just crazy!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/04/2012 14:41

Plus WELL DONE to Jaggy and your DS2!

scarletfingernail · 26/04/2012 17:16

Congratulations Jaggy on the arrival of your giant poo Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/04/2012 19:21

Scream, loving the PFB-ness! I have a severe case of PSB. So pleased your SPD is much better, even if it is drug-induced. At least now you're not pg you can have the proper drugs again.

Maia was weighed today - she now weighs 9lb 15! I am in shock. She's jumped another 20-odd centiles and is just under the 50th centile now. Are babies supposed to jump from about the 9th centile to the 50th by the time they're 7 weeks old? Confused Maybe I should eat less crap.

pommedechocolat · 26/04/2012 20:39

Yay for Maias weight, scream's pfb ness and jaggy's poo!!

Dh still driving me mental with his man flu and wondering about creating an evening routine for Abbie now. Fed up of meltdown over tea every night! She's calm all day then it hits seven and boom bad hour time!

DreamingOfPeace · 26/04/2012 20:46

She was probably just always going to be a 50th centile baby too. If babies put on approximately 1/2lb a week in the last few weeks she'd have been nearly 8lb at 40 weeks which is well over the 50th centile. she was evicted early after all. I expect my 9th centile Seb to leap up the centiles, Ben is 2nd centile but generally more dainty features etc so not so sure what he'll do, but think he will also not stay on that centile.

Night Dreads. Big time. I'm so tired. Fed up of my dad, who's normally great and is being fantastic with DD pushing me to give the boys formula. I know he means well and is saying it because I've been complaining of extreme tiredness and been weepy as I'm gutted with how much time feeding the duo takes and that I'm missing DD so much. Still want him to stop banging on about formula and saying things like 'the sooner those boys are on bottles the better'. I feel like I'm failing all round even more then, both with the bf and the limited time with DD.

Boo. Nights suck when you can't sleep. But I'll go and flap/whinge elsewhere and stop dragging the mood down here...

DreamingOfPeace · 26/04/2012 20:49

pomme, took me a lot of effort but I got DD going down with an evening routine from 9 weeks- I started about 7 in earnest!

Biscuitsandtea · 26/04/2012 21:52

Dream - I'm going to give you a gentle slap with a wet fish. That's for saying you shouldn't be 'bringing the mood down'. You're not. You're amazing and doing an amazing job. And that's exactly what we're here for - to offload to and offer support when someone's going through it. So no more of that sort of talk Mrs.

That goes for the rest of you lot too.

Anyway, telling off done.

You're amazing bf those boys. I've never done formula for all the feeds (DS had formula once we'd got into weaning) so I don't know much about it, but I suspect it isn't the easy answer as you've still got the time to feed them but have to squeeze in making up bottles, sterilising etc. I guess it's easier to share the work but it's still a lot of work. I suspect there isn't an 'easy' answer to feeding two babies!!! But it must be frustrating to have someone putting pressure on you like that.

Now, your boys may end up with all formula, or some formula, or no formula. But it's going to be your decision and you'll know what your heart says. Whichever one you pick does not make you a failure though. The important thing is that you have the best balance of all of you being content and happy.

I'm not sure I'm saying what I mean well. But whatever you decide we're here to help you and hold your hand. Every day you've given those boys of BM is great for them so whatever you decide it WILL be fine.

Well done Too and Jaggy for some excellent weight gain by your respective DC. Grin

Too - Maia being 9lb 15oz made me think - my friend had a baby this week at 9lb 12oz!!! Ouch Confused

Scream hope all is going well. Hope the SPD is getting better and that you haven't been over-run with family visiting. Autumn sounds gorgeous Smile

Forgotten everything else. I have a headache and sinus-ness Sad Meh. I'm sure I'll feel better after 12 unbroken hours of sleep Hmm (Are you listening Ethan??)

Biscuitsandtea · 26/04/2012 21:54

Oh, no real routine here yet for E. Not entirely sure what I'm ever going to do about it. He still sleeps such a lot Confused. Sometimes he feeds before DS1's bedtime, sometimes after but then just goes in the pram in his sleeping bag. Don't really know how to make it routine-y. Although we did have one with DS1 from about 7 weeks probs.

pommedechocolat · 26/04/2012 21:54

Thanks dream - think ill try in the next few weeks and see what happens.

I've been reading on Wikipedia about bf and weight loss! It would seem in the first 12 weeks due to feeding frequency we 're programmed to eat more to compensate. 3-6 months in however we should all start to look like supermodels :)

In defence of my cake/chocolate consumption I am permanently starving!

pommedechocolat · 26/04/2012 21:56

biscuit - I think I was better with dd1 too, it's fitting the second around the toddler that has me stumped!
