Hello all. Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd do the honours. Sorry for rubbish title, I'm no good at witty! :)

I am still here! Been lurking but no posting.

Ninja v envious of your hol and good luck for tomorrow. From your photos I thought you'd found a hunky new man to swan off into the sunset with......

Sorry to not nod to all - you've talked lots but hope everyone is healthy and happy.

DD has had 4 swimming lessons so far. She is not confident but in 4 weeks, her instructor (a lovely man called Twig???!) has got her to jump in, which I have never managed. She will now also have a shower afterwards. It's a first. It's a class of 5 4 yr olds and she's loving it.

DS is ill again. I've posted here if any of you guys have any thoughts.

Thanks for the Good Lucks - I must be mad but it should be an experience.

It was really good to go on holiday and to get away from everything here, no hunky man I'm afraid Sad not even working on that atm as just trying to deal with ex is still a nightmare.

Off to mediation in the next couple of weeks to try and get it all sorted out. Part of me is dreading being in the same room as him and trying to negotaite, but I'll be glad if we can come to some agreement.

Don't know about your DS - anything specific he's eaten? (although that shouldn't last for 5 days ....)

Badvoc · 02/11/2012 21:44

Oh sorry meg :(
Hope you are ok x
Have posted on your other thread Mrsa

CappuccinoCarrie · 05/11/2012 09:42

How did it go ninja?!

Yes i was worried about DD's swimming! But weekly lessons since January and this intensive course at half term and she's suddenly got it. It was great having only three children in the class over half term, as they got to know each child individually, so when DD went back to her saturday lesson she was allowed to do the whole thing with no armbands on. My friend's son would be fine with no armbands too, but the teachers don't know that as they've only been going a few weeks, I guess when they do badges at the end of term and pay more 121 attention to each child they'll get the measure of him. But they like to have them in armbands while they nail the stroke first.

ninja · 05/11/2012 18:18

Hi Carrie it was great EXCEPT for the queue waist deep in freezing water for 25 mins - that definitely put me off ever entering again! Loved all the mud though Grin

ex being a twatbadger about me taking the kids to the panto with my sisters kids - well he's agreed to that but takeing time off elsewhere that means I couldn't spend the whole day with my family.

I really hope mediation helps - I'm not holding my breathe though Sad I'm so tired of it, it's taking up so much time and emotion and I'm no further on than last year. Worse if anything

CappuccinoCarrie · 06/11/2012 14:20

ninja so sorry the twatbadger is up to his usual tricks :(

I'm off swimming again tonight, trying to persuade myself it won't be freezing and I'll instantly be a size slimmer as a result Hmm

Meglet · 06/11/2012 21:46

ninja when is mediation? Good luck ((hugs)).

carrie how many lengths did you manage? I've recently started doing front crawl again, crikey it's hard when you're out of practice. I can just about do a front crawl ength now without stopping Blush. Breast stroke is fine so I wanted to push myself a bit.

Got to apply for DD's school place soon. I'm itching to start buying her uniform but know I can't get it until the Spring.

CappuccinoCarrie · 07/11/2012 13:23

I did 40 lengths in 32 mins with a bit of chat with my chum at the end of each set of 10. I didn't do as many lengths of crawl as I would have liked, and the most consecutive lengths of crawl I did was 4. But I feel pleasantly achy today in that way you do when you know you've done some exercise!
DS1 is shattered, I've put him in front of the tv with his blanket in the hope that he falls asleep, although its only an hour til we set off for school.
DS2 is full of cold and so grumpy and whingy and throwing himself around and getting head injuries

On the plus side, I'm going to a free Wine tasting evening tonight that a friend won in a raffle, result!

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/11/2012 09:35

ninja this is what you need to ask father christmas to bring you!

ninja · 08/11/2012 21:57

Grin Grin

Our last guinea pig has just died - RIP Jenna. She was really sweet and I'll miss all the little noises.

I thought she was ailing the last couple of days and I made the kids get her out and cuddle her last night and I'm so glad I did. Caoimhe will take it really badly, she's so sensitive Sad

The they'll start bugging me for more pets [sigh]

CappuccinoCarrie · 11/11/2012 20:11

RIP little guinea pig :( How have your girls taken the news?

Meglet · 11/11/2012 21:20

ninja Sad.

I became piggy less last year, I'd kept various pairs for 30yrs but didn't replace the last ones as I wanted to get the shed tidy and knew we'd be busier when DS started school. We'll get some more when we move house in the hopefully not too distant future, I do miss them and they save me getting the lawnmower out Smile.

We've had such a busy weekend. I finished it with some slack parenting; DS doing his homework at 7pm on a Sunday Blush. Luckily he was ok with it as it was pretty easy, I just need to write the note in his homework book and reading diary.

carrie how was your wine tasting?

ninja · 11/11/2012 22:12

They're very sad although I'm not sure that Maebh has genuinely understood it - moments of 'she will be alive again won't she?'

Caoimhe very sad although she didn't actually take that much notice of her a lot of the time. She just hates change though :( a very emotional Friday night as we buried her and bought a plant to put on top of her.

Very quiet in the sitting room now.

New pets have been requested for Christmas which would mean little thought on my part (although I've already bought Maebh's presents)

Badvoc · 13/11/2012 12:07

Hi all
Sorry to of the loss of your pet ninja :(
And that the TB is up to his tricks. I hope mediation is useful for you x
Not much to report...still feel like crap. Am going to stry and get back to docs this week but dc are off school ill again too...sigh.
Am generally feeling pretty meh ATM tbh.
Hope it stops soon.
I don't like feeling like this :(

CappuccinoCarrie · 14/11/2012 13:47

Skydive centre say the weather is fine for saturday, soooo excited!!

meglet the wine tasting was awesome Grin. We had three whites, three reds, prosecco (sp?!) and champers, then right at the end some desert wine. After all the tasting, they brought out some food - cherry tomatoes, mature cheese, smoked salmon, chill heatwave crisps and chocolate. They got us to taste different ones then drink particular wines and you could really see why certain wines go well with certain foods. The funniest one was the chilli heatwave crisps, which they gave us purely to prove the point that with a curry, you should have lager!
I thought I didn't like chardonnay as its too sweet, turns out its a dry wine but varies in how fruity it is, and I like chablis chardonnay, but not chilean. Who knew?!!

Badvocsanta · 14/11/2012 16:17

Oh that would be such a waste of time for me carrie...I am a Lambrusco/hock/Liebfraumilch girl Blush
I wish I could like expensive wine and be all proper, but I am a 1970s throwback and I just have to accept it ;)
Good luck for Saturday (you maniac!) :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 14/11/2012 20:56

The important thing is to know what you like and then you can order wine with confidence and know you'll enjoy what you get!
Can't believe the Christmas name changing has begun, I'm getting so excited about it all now, tis the season to be jolly fa la la la laaaaaa!
Given how many shops I went into today, I can't believe I didn't hear any Christmas music. I did have a festive starbucks though ;)

Badvocsanta · 14/11/2012 21:34

Carrie...glad you are an Xmas lover. Me too! :) Am soooo tempted to get my Michael buble Xmas album on the stereo.
.....
Is it just me or did that ^ sentance make me sound about 65?
:(

Kagey · 14/11/2012 22:10

Skydive carrie I've never been brave enough. On our honeymoon we booked one but bad weather kept cancelling it and I was so grateful as I refused to admit how scared I was. I did do a bungey jump though!

RIP Jenna - we are petless in this house, as dD's are petrified of most animals, thanks to dh's phobias of most animals Sad. I had a cat growing up who lived to the grand old age of 19 and I miss her still.

I'm on a health kick and I'm on day 4 of the 30 day shred which is the most I've ever got to Grin. We went on holiday last month and I tucked into way too much cake, so I'm on a mission to tone up for Christmas.

Dh has a man-flu and dD's have coughs so it's all fun in this house!

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/11/2012 12:52

Oooh kagey how are you finding the shred? One of my friends does it and I'm not sure I'm brave enough!
I can't believe you'd bungee jump but not skydive! Bungee jumping terrifies me way more, as in there is absolutely no way in God's green earth I would do it. But somehow skydiving is fine, go figure Grin
We'll never have any pets, the reason being I'm very alergic which is a convenient smokescreen for the fact I'm scared of animals

badvoc Michael Buble is for all ages to appreciate ;) If it helps my mum is 65 and I don't think she's even heard of him, she's more likely to get out the kings college cambridge cd of Christmas classics!

Kagey · 16/11/2012 22:39

Well technically I think my knees buckled, rather than voluntarily jumping Blush, but hey it counts still! Never ever again though!

I'm on day 6 of the shred and level 2. Up to last night I was aching but was getting used to it, but I guess I'll be aching tomorrow. Clothes are feeling looser and I'm banished all naughty foods from my diet. Also I've cut out diet coke and I'm sticking to water/squash - I mean business this time Grin.

Dh still feeling poorly and went to bed at 7 with the dd's.

Have a good weekend everyone!

ninja · 17/11/2012 07:43

Thinking of you today Carrie, hope it goes well Smile

notcitrus · 17/11/2012 10:35

Good luck Carrie!
Started looking at schools for applying for ds... Seems so grown up! Very glad dd will still be at nursery - I'll probably be sobbing buckets by the time she leaves!

Badvocsanta · 17/11/2012 14:18

NC - I will have Toby starting reception and ds1 starting middle school next sept.
I am putting my order for Valium in now!
:)

Meglet · 17/11/2012 18:02

bookmarking.

I will add to the health kick on here as I went for a short run today. Although I have wine with my dinner which probably cancels it out Grin.
