MamaMaiasaura · 07/03/2012 22:15

Oooo they deleted that fast Grin. I don't think it was unreasonable, lol.

Scheherezade · 07/03/2012 22:18

I actually laughed out loud then! Wish there was a like button Grin

PenguinArmy · 07/03/2012 22:20

They did that quick, they must be scared Grin

golemming have a look in your library for a plant based nutrition book like this or this The latter is one I've read a few times and has tables showing nutrition content of various foods and is split into the main nutrients e.g. chapter on calcium, one of protein etc. I personally feel the importance of cow's milk in our diet is over rated, but oat milk is fortified, as are a lot of other things. Rice milk isn't recommended for children. It was one of the reasons I was really sad when DD weaned of bf when I was pg as suddenly I had to worry more about milk.

Scheherezade · 07/03/2012 22:20

They didn't have to delete whole post though. Glad you and DH are back on track sassy

sassy34264 · 07/03/2012 22:24

damn, didnt refresh quick enough and missed what you put scheh Smile

mama im with you. surely babies are to be loved, cherished (to a point- the little buggers) and enjoyed. not made to fit in with every aspect of your lifestyle in such a regimental way that leaves you feeling like a failure if you cant manage it!
im sure i could manage it with SOMEONE elses baby, where there is no love, guilt or bond going on. and probably no sleep deprivation either as im pretty sure nannies get to clock off at some point.

TallyBear · 07/03/2012 22:26

Sch so curious to know what you put now (on fb...?!)

Having said all that I've just read through the Q and A on her website and quite a few of her answers make a lot of sense and are what we ended up do/realised anyway (e.g. that Seb will sleep through only if he's had enough food during the day- we even wake him at 7ish to start his feeding- and he can't go more than 2 hours without a nap) However, I suspect that most of this is common sense and the fact that we didn't need a book (or 'expert') to find this out is telling.

The sex thing still really annoys me though - women are not sex objects to 'offer' themselves to their partners. In advocating this she's put back women's lib about 50 years.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/03/2012 22:27

Oo look at time. Off to bed I think... Now do I dream feed or not?

TallyBear · 07/03/2012 22:38

Can't help you there Mama the only time we did that Seb was NOT a happy bunny and took ages to re-settle.

Night night...

FuzzzyDuck · 07/03/2012 22:45

Just read that article!! 5 months on and I still don't think I could do it yet

Scheherezade · 07/03/2012 22:51

I just had the best df. He woke up after boob1 and so we just cuddled up in bed. I gave up on naps today and just let him sleep on me all day, so I'm all mega soppy and hormonal atm. don't want to put him down now!

CheshireDing · 08/03/2012 06:39

Gosh you gossipy ladies, loads of chatter been going on!

P has done quite well the last 2 nights (yes I know it's only two), she has woke at 1.30am and 5.30am. I am trying to stretch her out to 6 hours because I know she can do it. Not sure how long this will last but fx - until the next phase of course.

Stupid monitor is broken so we had to sleep with nursery and bedroom door open last night so have to take it back today, pita.

Gutted I was not on here to find out what naughty Scheh wrote ;)

I have reserved a place at a lovely nursery for P, my theory being that even if we do not use it in the end (because I win the lottery/make loads of money) she has a place secured at the one of our choice. Just need to look at Nannies and Childminders too. Don't want to go to work though, whaaahh!

FD is that your new money making venture? I cannot figure out how to befriend it on timeline (as I don't have timeline).

CheshireDing · 08/03/2012 06:52

Had my phone call from the hospital too, all okay with smear results - just slight changes (but it's always like that anyway). So back to baby making now, although very unlikely as bf.

Mama with the BLW P is not massively interested in putting much in her mouth - it only really ends up in there if it's on her thumb. Most goes to the dog. Do you think she will suddenly turn a corner around 6 months-ish to be more interested? I am def in no rush as love the baby-ness but just wondered really.

P has always put weight on her legs, I think the hv sounds a bit mad FD.

I was told hard cheese is okay at 6 months, as although it has salt it's not like feeding gravy or something (although I do know very little)

LittlePebble · 08/03/2012 07:21

Morning all wow everyone was chatty yesterday! Hope everyone had good nights (Jnice? Mama?)
Scheh I too am gutted I missed your naughty post can you pop it on fb?
E sat unaided yesterday although very wobbly bless him. Can't quite believe it but he slept through again last night Smile I could get used to this if I managed to stay asleep as well instead of waking up to wonder why he hasn't woken me Wink

chocolatehobnobs · 08/03/2012 07:53

Morning all. it's taken me this long to raise myself out of a postnatal fug to join you on the postnatal board. I ended up turning the lights out on our baby bus on November 12th with an emergency section and a baby boy in NICU.:) Nice to see all the familiar names and hear how you are doing. Still waking several times a night so might increase daytime feeds as someone suggested above.

sassy34264 · 08/03/2012 08:08

brill news about the smear cheshire and dont be to sure about not getting pregnant whilst bf- i did with eva!

hobnob welcome back. how is ds now?

woohoo! im joining the ladies with babies who are sleeping through. 2 nights in a row now. go eva, go eva. Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 08/03/2012 08:18

chocolatehobnobs welcome, how's your ds doing? What did you call him. Lovely to have you here Smile

cheshire my ds2 started to suck on watermelon around 5 months. With him and J I let them taste fruit tabs veg that I'm preparing for family or eating. Just on their tongue if they want. J has now started mouthing banana. She sits in bumbo during meals aurally but ds2 used to sit on my lap and grab off my plate. The first year is really experimenting and having fun with food as they get all nutrition from milk.

Bit better night here, 11.30, 3 and 6.

Re sleep, I read in Penelope leach, your baby and child that sleep changes around this stage from newborn to almost same as adult. So the baby naturally Wales around 45 minutes after falling asleep, really good piece in the book. Said that it feels like baby constantly feeding or only settling for short sleeps in night.ill see if I can find it and type up on here

FuzzzyDuck · 08/03/2012 08:35

Welcome back hobnobs Smile
Go Eva!! Keep it up!
cheshire great news about results. Happy baby making WinkGrin (oh and it's just something I enjoy doing really! Made few wee vests for S so thought I'd just chance my arm!)
Glad to hear you all think HV is mad for what she said. The surgery I go to isn't in the nicest of areas shall we say (alcohol misuse, drugs, teen pregnancy) and sometime I do think I look younger than my age (26) so I can't help feel they tar everyone with same brush. When I asked her about moving on to pasta etc she looked at me then gave me a big rant on how if I was planning to give her tinned spaghetti hoops, I need to be careful of the salt!! By this point I'd had enough of her and told her in the almost 4 weeks that she has been eating she has had 2 pouches of food, everything else has been homemade!! Her reply, 'well you seem a smart girl'. Ahhh!!! Will be avoiding her in the future!

Scheherezade · 08/03/2012 09:29

welcome back hobnob :)

Thats brilliant news cheshire ! I had got myself all worked up and insisted on a cervical exam at my GPs yesterday by a rather scary German lady doctor Blush

Not Envy at you at all sassy and lp , no not me! haha. C feeds 7pm, I wake him for a dream feed at 10pm, then he usually should go till 3am, and 7am. Although last night he slotted in an extra feed at 1.30. Bad baby.

I suppose waking at 3am after being asleep since 7pm is understandable, that's a big block of sleep!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 08/03/2012 10:52

fuzzy i'm the same as you in that i get funny looks from docs/HVs when they find out i'm married etc as i look young for my age too, i think if she had said that to me though i would have had went absolutely nuts! cheeky bitch! and TBH i'm sure even most 16 year old mothers would know better than to give a 5mo tinned spaghetti hoops!

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 08/03/2012 12:49

I look young for my age and I don't wear my wedding ring. Then they find out (i) my age -28, (ii) I'm married and (iii) I have a PhD so my title is Dr Grin

huge welcome to hobnob looking forward to more updates

sassy34264 · 08/03/2012 14:30

i get told i dont look my age, unfortunately though im so old that even if you thought i was 10 years younger (which i dont ) i would still be late 20's! Angry Envy

sassy34264 · 08/03/2012 14:31

(which i dont look)

FuzzzyDuck · 08/03/2012 14:38

She also then had the cheek to ask 'is your partner around..?' Shock ok fair enough he isn't, but who is she to just presume!!
Grin @ penguin!! Maybe I'll start wearing a ring and introduce myself as dr... PITA!!

FuzzzyDuck · 08/03/2012 14:38

sassy I'm 26 and have wrinkles and grey hair, but let's not go there!!

Scheherezade · 08/03/2012 14:56

I didn't have wrinkles till just over 5 months ago Wink

Amazing! We're at MILs, every time her dog tries to play with ours Cyrus gets really upset and SHOUTS in a way I've not heard him before! He's fine with them in the room, but when they try to play he gets irate! We can't work out if he's scared or maybe protective over his dog?
