Sad for those with unsettled nights.

mrsh I don't remember a 16 wk check at home, although my health visitor has never been that great! I've met her once when she came out to do 6 wk check but that was it! The health visitor/dentist came out at maybe 15 wks (I think!) but she was clear who she was so prob not the same. I'm guessing just to see how feeding is going etc. maybe give you information about weaning even though she is a way off yet. Sad about your back. Im 4 floors up and have started just leaving S car seat in the car and lifting her up. Buggy stays there too. Just to heavy to be doing it now. Have you tried a carrier? Might not be so good for your back either. Can you leave buggy at bottom of stairs? Few other ladies in my building do that. It's like a crèche some mornings with them all!!

sassy34264 · 01/03/2012 09:10

i think the nurseries around here are all roughly £40 a day. so times 3 is £120 and times that by 5 days, its £600 a week!
so basically i wouldnt have anything left after paying that and im a qualfied teacher. how would someone go on who works in a shop or a factory? the mind boggles!

i dont care though as it just strengthens my position as a sahm. yeah!

mrsh take it easy. x

PenguinArmy · 01/03/2012 09:16

MsrH :(

DS has come down with a cough so feeds are more frequent including a one hour session last night Confused

sassy34264 · 01/03/2012 09:18

forgot to say, my hv came for eva's 16 week check last thurs. she weighed her 16lbs 4oz and asked me questions like- am i ok? am i coping? how do i feel? am i breast or bottle feeding? and thats about it. didnt check eva or anything. they seem more concerned to catch people with pnd than babies development at this stage. or maybe thats just my hv, who thinks i must be depressed at looking after my brood.

i did show her that eva doesnt put any weight on her legs when you stand her up though. all my others have from almost birth. she agreed it isnt normal. so i have a check up on the 12th to see the doc about it.
does anyone elses baby do this? she will do it sometimes but even then it isnt strong.

strawberrypenguin · 01/03/2012 09:39

cheshire a bit nervous about him starting nursery, yes. I know it will be good for him to socialise with other children and the nursery we've got him booked into seems lovely (my mum used to run a Playgroup so I had some idea what to look for) It's just the closer September gets (and I know it's still a way off) the less I want to leave him and go back to work

Mrsh I didn't have a 16wk check either (W is 18wks today), haven't had a home visit since very early on.

penguin hope your DS feels better soon

fuzzzy that leg banging thing is really loud isn't it! W does it too and when he's upstairs it does sound like something is about to come through the ceiling :o

sassy can't help with the standing I'm afraid as William loves it, it's his favourite position and will almost unfailingly make him grin when you stand him up. In fact I'm pretty convinced that if it wasn't for the fact that he can't balance yet he would be walking already. Hope doctors appointment goes ok and that Eva is fine xx

MrsHende · 01/03/2012 10:09

Sounds like I have a very efficient HV! She was at the house at least once a week until Christmas, I saw her twice at the clinic in Jan, she did both the sets of jags L has had so far, I saw her last Monday at the clinic and now again today (and two weeks today for the last jags!). One week I saw her at the clinic, at the gps for jags then at my friend's house the next day when I was going round for lunch! It's a good job I like her!

Thank you for the sympathy, I do feel a bit sorry for myself Sad. Hopefully will cheer up soon. I had friends round yesterday who both have younger babies but are getting more sleep, probably didn't help.

Sassy, I'm afraid I can't help with the legs either, hope the doc has a simple explanation.

I can hear the playmate jingling! She must have woken up from her nap. Off we go to baby massage! (I'd rather it was mummy massage!)

Scheherezade · 01/03/2012 10:58

Ooh lots of posts, just a quick one to sassy - I was actually talking about the same thing to the nursery nurse from the m&b unit yesterday. C puts a lot of weight on his legs and just wants to stand all the time! But he's not too bothered about trying to roll. She was saying that she's worked with lots of babies his age (23 weeks, so a lot older than Eva!) that aren't interested in standing and just draw their legs up. So I hope that's reassuring!

FuzzzyDuck · 01/03/2012 11:24

sassy I was thinking the same yesterday. s puts no weight on her legs. She will sit on my knee on her knees but getting her to stand is a no! I saw a few babys at clinic yesterday the same age as s and younger who were standing. Had ment to ask HV about it but she rushed me in and out that I completely forgot! Maybe I should make a doc app to ask? I could pop down to clinic next Wednesday and ask about it then first before doc. Even if I put her in door bouncer, she just drags her legs rather than try push up from them. Hmmm

sassy34264 · 01/03/2012 11:52

thanks scheh it is reassuring. i think its cos all my other 3 have put weight on the legs practically from birth and i think also cos she had the hip referrals when she was born, so it is playing at the back of my mind.

hopefully, it is just that she cba! Smile

i would get it checked as well fuzzy no harm in doing it. hopefully s cba'd either. Wink

sassy34264 · 01/03/2012 12:00

just had a thought.

im extrememly laid back and so are all my children, have i managed to actually have a child that is so laid back- she doesnt want to stand up?! Hmm Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 01/03/2012 12:09

sassy I phoned HV there. She said they don't look at development Hmm so it's not something she would worry about unless she was 9 months and still not putting any weight on. She said you get babys at 18 mnths and still not walking but they don't worry about it. A baby will walk when ready! Surely there would be concern by that time?! Anyway, I've to take her back down to clinic next Wednesday and they will have a look. In the meantime ill try encourage it a bit more. Maybe she is lazy just like her mother Grin

PenguinArmy · 01/03/2012 12:33

The only milestone I've ever heard of is walking at 18 months. Most walk by 19 months but it could possibly indicate hypermobilty

DS rolled for the first time today and then repeated it a fair few times at babygroup :) Was front to back

strawberrypenguin · 01/03/2012 13:11

penguin yay for DS :o

PenguinArmy · 01/03/2012 13:26

thanks strawberry

did you say you have a kidney op date for DS?

Engelsmeisje · 01/03/2012 15:37

Grrr...after saying how good my work was at arranging a room to express in, went there during my free period to find a meeting with parents and outside agencies regarding a student. Ended up in the telephone room with a do not disturb sign on the door and one hand on the door handle. Didn't stop someone trying to open it with their key though! Then the lady at reception tried to make out it was my fault as she'd booked me a different room (but not told me) that I didn't even know existed. And when I tried to pump there this afternoon discovered that my key won't unlock it, the blinds on one side are really fiddly to close and it doesn't lock from the inside! Hmmm..went back and insisted I had to have the original room I'd booked from now on.

Just got home (no meetings today so could scoot out at 3pm) and DH handed me M and bottle of ebm as soon as I walked in the door. He hasn't cleaned the bottles from during the day either. I know he's depressed but give me a break!!!

Okay, rant over! I appreciated being at home on Tues and Wed so much after being at work for the day, and after teaching teenagers all day M just seems so tiny!!! DH said he's beena bit antsy all day. I think his 2 bottom teeth are getting to him. Going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow to see if I can get something for him.

Thanks for the pump/bag tip PA. I'll do that next week *far better than rinsing in our skanky staffroom kitchen).

I am so stupid with money, I haven't even checked how much childcare will cost us when M starts going in August. There used to be really good tax breaks over here for working parents, but the govt are cutting them so we won't benefit from them Sad.

fx for your DH too sassy

Huge sympathy to all the sleep-deprived mummies.

Jnice · 01/03/2012 15:39

sassy sorry your gym session was spoiled Sad I hope you try again. It will get easier and we need the time off.

MrsHende · 01/03/2012 16:09

HV has just been, poor thing asked how I was and opened the flood gates! She said she was meant to do a PND questionnaire with me but decided to leave it a week because I'd be off the scale today!! She's also going to find out if I can take ibuprofen while breastfeeding to make it easier for me to do my physio exercises.

Lovely L is giving me a nice break though and has been asleep for two hours! At home! In her own bed! It's miracle Grin!

Going to have a lie down now too. Hope the others on the sleepless train are managing a wee nap.

Scheherezade · 01/03/2012 18:32

Hope things pick up for you mrsH

I spent this morning cleanings, the afternoon at soft play and now we have guests staying. I'm shattered.

Dp brought strawberries and cherries home, not sure what to make with them for pudding.

CheshireDing · 01/03/2012 19:28

Thanks for the answers about milk at nursery ladies, the whole thing is a complete minefield to me and such a responsibility to pick the right thing.

I have not seen our HV since P was 6 weeks and she did the questionnaire. I am sure she said we would have to see her again but I can't remember if it was at 6 or 12 months anyway. Don't know what happens then, we have definitely not had a 16 week check - different PCT's seem to do such different things around the country don't they.

P had played with pasta today in class, she didn't really care for it.

Hope things get better MrsH, are you trying what FD suggested and leaving the buggy etc downstairs/in the car?.

No idea what you do with strawberries AND cherries combined Grin

golemmings · 01/03/2012 20:02

Mrs h, I would have thought you woulb be fine with neurofen whilst bfing. If not you could always try getting something like diclophenac which is an anti inflammatory but prescribed in post natal wards following birth and that's fine for bfing on.

A slept through on Tuesday after his jabs. First time ever. Dd had to be put back to bed 5 times between midnight and half one but I still got 5 1/2 hours sleep which was amazing given he had been waking every couple of hours. Yesterday I cleaned the house, weeded the veg patch, weeded half the drive, had a rehearsal and a recording session for a cd I'm playing on, went for a run and was then absolutely knackered today.
I think the sleeping through was a one-off but I'm tempted to get him innocated again just for the sleep...

LittlePebble · 01/03/2012 20:38

MrsH the doctor told me I could take ibuprofen while bfing.Confused hope that's right I've taken loads.....
golemmings, once they've slept through once you know they can do it! Fx you get another one soon.
sassy hope DH gets the job.
PA yay for rolling pokes DS who still shows no sign
Engels Angry at school and Sad for you with DH, hope things get a bit easier soon.

Hoping E does another night like last night

strawberrypenguin · 01/03/2012 20:38

penguin yes we have a date for W's kidney op 16 march @ Southampton general, still waiting to hear from Oxford about his head though.

mrsh hope thing get better for you soon

I won't be online for a week now, we are making the jump into our new house this weekend and will have to wait for Internet to be connected. Don't do anything too exciting without me :o hope you all have a good week.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/03/2012 20:45

FX for DH sassy
Mhairi is quite good at standing and sitting but doesnt even try to roll Confused dont think christopher did either though so im not too worried.

my phone has finally been sent to insurance to fix the screen, i feel like my right arm has been cut off.

sorry for all the mum's struggling with sleep hope the babies give you a break soon.

i didn't get a 16 week check either, although mhairi got 6 week check at around 16 weeks so maybe we'll get ours before she's 6 months lol

i'm loving my new car, its so much easier having some space, really dont know how i managed with 2 kids in a convertible, i was clearly mad Grin

Jnice · 02/03/2012 00:09

You can definitely take ibuprofen whilst bf - they gave it to me inhospitable after giving birth. I've been taking it since too.

Scheherezade · 02/03/2012 05:58

Diclophenac is just super strong ibuprofen isn't it?

C slept 11 - 5.30, hooray! Am still shattered, haha.
