Started new thread, ladies - unimaginative name, but I figured it was suitable now we've been loving it up with out seats :)

We've all gone a bit quiet this past few days! Thankfully, my, er, drama has been well and truly resolved. Was a bit wary, even after I had the negative test, because with both my pregnancies I had negative tests even when I knew I was pregnant. And to top it off, in the past ten days I have had both a mammogram (thankfully all was fine!) and a chest xray due to repeated chest infections, so I really really really didn't want to suddenly discover that I was unexpectedly pg again. Although another wee baby would be lovely in a way Smile

Is anyone getting any rolling over yet? DS lies on a blanket on the floor and he has rolled right onto his side, doing that arching the back thing that they all do, quite a few times and he is very close to getting himself right over onto his front. Then he'll cry, because he hates to be on his front Grin

Hope all is well with everyone else. And Sas I hope you get a proper rest, it sounds like you need it.

hadak · 07/03/2012 12:54

Hi ladies . Sorry I have been AWOL for a while. I decided to bite the bullet and take ds to visit my dad for a few days. Long trip was ok but as suspected his lack of sleep generally meant it was very hard work !! Lovely to see dad and meet my new nephew though so it was worth it.
treacle read your last few posts with both shock and excitement. Glad to hear you have put your mind at rest by doing the test. Hope you are feeling bette by the way.
Cali I am with others on the job front- go for it you will only kick yourself if you don't.
Sas hope you manage to get some rest on holiday I can sympathise with the constant waking and feeding..
busy how was the caravan?we will be setting ours up for the season the end of this month half excited and half dreading it !
Hope everybody else is ok

busyboysmum · 07/03/2012 20:15

Hadak, we didn't go in the end because the weather was forecast freezing cold and rain all weekend after a lovely sunny week, plus Luke had a bit of a cold, am glad we didn't cos it would have been cold and muddy - not the best introduction for him!

We have decided to jump on it as soon as there is a nice weekend other than that we are booked to go to Malham for Easter.

Clarabelle77 · 07/03/2012 23:46

Sounds like some OH's could do with a good kick up the bum Smile
Hope everyone is well.
Finally dug out our DS1's bumbo and tried DS2 in it. Don't think he was too impressed! DS1 can still fit in it (he is 4!) and finds it hilarious so he has been in it more than DS1.
We are trying to sell our house at the moment without much luck. Have a viewer on Sunday afternoon now so need to get the house ready plus pack for centre parcs on Monday. Not sure how I'll manage that. Excited about our first family holiday with DS2 though

Tjuice · 08/03/2012 11:24

Hello everyone
I have been more on the Facebook group (spamming with pics) then on here of late.
But just marking my place and saying a quick hi before I got lie down with DD2 for a little lunchtime sleep.

cookie9 · 08/03/2012 12:43

Slowly catching up with the thread. Treacle - what a scare! We are discussing pros and cons of a second baby but at the moment I am so tired just looking after one can't imagine two. Sas - sorry about the lack of sleep. I thought we had sleeping throughout the night cracked but had two, five, six and seven this morning so not even a lie in to recover.
Wee man coped well with first flight and great granny loved meeting him. Took lots of photos to capture the special moment. He is drooling a lot and first sucking. The new skill is bra ing and shaking his toys but no sign of rolling yet. He is slightly less grumpy about tummy time so hopefully that will help.
A word of caution to anyone flying with their little one. I didn't know that you sometimes don't get your buggy as soon as you land so you may have quite a walk carrying baby and your hand baggage. Next time I will be taking the sling.
On the subject of slings I have a baby Bjorne but can't seem to adjust the strap to correct length. Anyone any advice?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/03/2012 12:48

Ooh John carter the film is on at the Trafford Centre on Tuesday at midday. It's the sort of sci fi crap i love/DP hates. May have to go.

Somersaults · 08/03/2012 14:52

I've been very quiet this week trying to get everything organised for our trip to Australia. We fly tomorrow. I've always hated packing but with a little baby it's a million times worse! We're nit taking a buggy/pram at all on the plane, just the sling, and hiring a travel system with a carseat when we get there. I would be getting really excited right about now if a) we didn't still have so much to do and b) I'm sitting in the dentist's waiting room waiting for a filling :(

Caitlin is fist sucking like mad and dribbling everywhere (we now have Bibbles galore in our house!) and no signs of rolling for her either. She also hates tummy time. I think she may have discovered her feet today though, she spent a long time sitting in her bouncy chair with her legs sticking straight out in front of her just staring at them earlier!

I don't know if we'll get online in Aus so I may be absent for a while. Everyone keep well and sleep when you can!!!

Caliphora · 08/03/2012 18:25

Preparing for my Swedish trip - and the tax man decided to give me another 300 squids! Perfect for some mad shopping over there...

I'm up for Trafford Centre! Yay! And I'm not broke!
Can't believe I'm about to go to the cinema with my daughter.
I've actually looked forward to John Carter, it was cancelled so many times I never thought it would see the light of day.

I'm a terrible sci-fi-fantasy nerd.

busyboysmum · 08/03/2012 20:07

Oh gutted about the film - was hoping it would be something decent! Not my sort of thing at all but my boys would love it so will be taking them to see it, can't manage it twice.

If you are meeting for a coffee before or after I will pop by.

TreacleSoda · 10/03/2012 09:33

Morning all ! How are things with everyone?

That baby cinema thing sounds great, I would love that, there is nothing like that round here. I think I could probably watch any old film just for the sake of going to the cinema, maybe I'd get a pleasant surprise and discover that I really love sci fi!

I'm just going to have a wee moan, if I may. I've had a chest infection for about six weeks now and I'm just worn out. Repeated antibiotics, steroids, inhalers, nothing seems to be able to get rid of it. I'm not coughing so badly now, but I must have pulled muscles, and the pain when I cough or even take a deep breath is horrible. And I haven't been able to go to my exercise classes because of it, and that gets me down too, because I love the buzz that the classes give me. Then I found myself this morning making DH a lemsip because he has the cold and I'm thinking Hmm should he not be taking care of me? In fairness to him, a few weeks ago he was, but I think he has got so used to me coughing now that he has forgotten its not normal! And honestly, he is great, he does his fair share, but I'm just feeling sorry for myself this morning Grin

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/03/2012 17:46

Yep - would love to go to see John Carter on Tues with you Cali and Abi. The premium seats are good but they are £9. It's never full though, so I normally take up 2 seats - one for and one for car seat/gubbage. To be honest, you could probably buy std seat and sit in premium as no one checks. Shall we meet for a coffe first at starbucks? Say 10.45. Gives us an hour before the film and we can meet busyboysmum too.

Caliphora · 10/03/2012 18:12

Treacle More investigations? Six weeks for a cough to clear isn't normal...

Archie We'll see, we do have a cardiology appt for Abi that day, but I can't remember the time - I'll dig out the papers and look...

OP posts:
alicat10 · 10/03/2012 19:05

Treacle have you had blood tests - my daughter had an a-typical pneumonia before Xmas which sounds very similar - need a big wack of a very specific antibiotic to shift it & they were only able to diagnose from x-rays & blood tests

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/03/2012 19:57

Ah Cali no worries if you have a hospital appt that day - there'll be other films. Hope you get better soon treacle, I know so many people who've had a nasty cough/cold for 4-6 weeks (myself included). The theory is that the mild weather has encouraged it as a cold snap normally kills the bugs.

hadak · 12/03/2012 14:45

Hi Ladies
Just wondered if any of you had any ideas?.......Little one has a spot on his face- I know that sounds a bit silly but it is huge and yellow and quite red and warm around it. It wouldn't look so out of place if it was on my teenager instead of the baby. I wondered if there was anything I could put on it? I am so far just wiping it gently with cooled boiled water and sitting on my hands resisting the urge to "pop" it. Any suggestions??

sasamunde · 12/03/2012 23:41

Hm hadak from my religious watching of TOWIE I would suggest sudocrem perhaps?

Well I am back from my enforced vacation and it wasn't too bad! Kids were v good on the flight apart from Blake screaming for 1/2 hour while waiting to take off - just to keep everyone on their toes - he then slept through the flight! The house is still in chaos though and I'm still getting woken about 3 times a night so pretty tiiiiiiiiired and a bit down - Blake will be 4 months in a couple of days and still seems colicky / crying / with minimal routine. I love him so much and I just want him to be happy but I just can't figure out what he wants! Perhaps he's just a very vocal person...

Caliphora · 13/03/2012 00:44

Won't be able to make cinema - appointment is at 11.30!

And for some reason the child has another bout of diarrhoea: pooping water and being grumpy. We've cut out all solids now, back to bottles of dioralyte and riding out the stinky storm. :(

In other news: My grandmother is back in her flat, being doted on by my grandfather who's refurnished the living room to fit her hospital bed so he can turn it around for her to see the street outside! She's got nurses seeing to her 5 times/day and a panic alarm installed, so she's getting good care.
We're seeing her a week from now!

Sasa - glad you had a good break, and I hear you about Blake - he's probably, like Abi, a vocal child, what Dr Sears calls a "high need" baby.

OP posts:
hadak · 13/03/2012 08:23

Ooh Sas. I really feel for you I could have written the exact same post re vocal/ colic/ crying. It is just so difficult when you hear how settled other babies are. I think we have less routine now than when we brought him home from hospital!! Glad to hear your "holiday" went ok though.
Re sudocream - I asked chemist if they could suggest anything when I went to pick up a prescription yesterday and they thought I needed to see a doctor as it is looking very inflamed. Felt a bit of a prat making an appotment for a spot though. Will let you know what they suggest.
Cali really good news about your grandma, your grandfather sounds lovely.
Well better go the boy is screaming the house down

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 13/03/2012 11:11

Morning all,

Sas, how are you feeding Blake? He might be milk intolerant, but it could be something else, what does the doctor say?

Cali, good to hear that your grandmother is back home, hope that your trip next week goes well.

Hadak, good luck at the docs, let us know how you get on.

J had his third set of inoculations today, he was not impressed with the health visitor who did them, but it was minimal crying and now he has gone down for his nap so lets hope he's in a good mood when he wakes.

Hope everyone has a good day today, it feels so nice now the weather is starting to get better :)

TreacleSoda · 13/03/2012 13:15

TwoJacks does your health visitor do your immunisations on a home visit or do you have to attend a clinic? I have a friend who is a Dr and used to work in Scotland and she said she thought that the HV system was far better there, with the HVs giving the immunisations, that it seemed like a much better use of resources. It sounds sensible to me, wraparound care and all that.

I have a boy who is a bit off colour, he is a bit clingy, sleepy and isn't eating as well as normal. We're not sure if its the bottles (we moved him up to the faster flow teats yesterday as he was struggling with the smaller ones) or if its just that he has the cold. Anyway, he's a bit out of sorts, nothing major, but hard to get anything done.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Poppet45 · 13/03/2012 14:14

My sister's preggers due November 10th!!!!!!! I can't tell anyone in real life but I'm pretty much dancing round our house today! :o

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 13/03/2012 14:20

treacle, they were done in the clinic, she runs a number of clinics in the village, but J's first set of jabs were done by the doctor who did his 12 weeks checks, then the second and third were by the HV. She is brilliant, has been very supportive of me and non-judgemental even sent me to the doctor when she thought I was depressed - she was right btw, am racking my brains over what I can do to thank her.

J is also a little unsettled, I think it might just be their age, he is definitely developing his personality and own mind about things. Hopefully you and the boy will be feeling better soon...

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 13/03/2012 14:20

Oh oh oh Poppet, so exciting for you all!!!

Caliphora · 13/03/2012 17:16

Abi had her cardiology appt today - heart murmur is gone!
Now we can just focus of getting rid of this pesky diarrhoea - she went through 3 outfits while we were out today, and I had to buy a new one in Tesco when I ran out of clean clothes. Manic!

Hope those TC ladies who went to the film had a good time!

I am so ready for DP to come home. What a nightmare day.

Poppet - yay! How exciting!
