Started new thread, ladies - unimaginative name, but I figured it was suitable now we've been loving it up with out seats :)

alicat10 · 22/02/2012 17:19

7lb 5oz sorry

TreacleSoda · 22/02/2012 21:36

Ah, thats good news, I forgot about the stats thread! See, told you all I'm a worrier!

sasamunde · 22/02/2012 21:43

Glad he's not suffering Ali. Good to get it out the way as I'm sure everyone is telling you!

Blake in bed at 8:30 again. Weird. Would go to bed myself after the appalling sleep I had last night but DD is up there singing Everything's Rosie at the top of her voice... Sofa and a glass of wine for me.

Somersaults · 23/02/2012 00:38

Lovely to meet some of you today. After me telling you how Caitlin goes down at 9.30 and sleeps until 5 or 6am she went down fine but I'm sitting in bed feeding now at gone midnight. Hmmm. Just when I thought we were finally getting into some sort of a routine!

And meeting at the TC is dangerous! I spent £30 on books for her and bought her the tray for the Bumbo while I was there!

Ali sorry to hear about the pox. I know it's better if they have it young but it's hard when they're so tiny to see them ill.

alicat10 · 23/02/2012 07:08

I think 4 months is too young though Sad DS1 had it at 2 and DD at 7 months & I think that 2 was young enough!

TreacleSoda · 23/02/2012 09:59

oh yes, meant to say Ali that I'm sorry about the chickenpox too. My niece had it at around 6 months, and I remember thinking that it was awfully young, and quite a 'big' illness at that age.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 23/02/2012 11:07

It was great to meet some of you yesterday (and what was it with John Lewis that we bumped into each other again in the change room! :)) We had a lovely tea at home with lots of sushi and Matthew enjoyed his little trip. I went into Mamas&Papas and found an outfit in their 'exclusive' range for a 6-9month old that was literally a pair of trousers, cute braces and a top and it was .....£42!! I almost fainted. And did not buy!

Hoping the chicken pox is bearable. Would quite like DD to get it whilst I'm on mat leave. She's 3.5 so is quite old enough now :)

TreacleSoda · 23/02/2012 12:53

My DD is 5 and she might have had chickenpox.....or might not! We were in France last summer, and on our first night there she develops a terrible fever, over 40 degrees, and then a dry cough the next day. Chickenpox had been going round her playgroup just before we left. Talk about timing, she never gets ill, and then manages to do so on holidays. Anyway, much panic ensued but with TLC, calpol and cough bottle (thankfully we were with friends who are fluent in French!) she got over it. About 3 days later, she came out in a few wee itchy spots on her body. And by a few I mean about 6.

Anyway, after the holidays I was chatting to a friend who is a GP and she said 'oh, its possible that could have been very mild chickenpox'. Which would be fantastic, because she would have got the immunity without being terribly ill. But really, we don't know, so we have no idea if she is immune or not. Sad

alicat10 · 23/02/2012 19:26

My DS1 barely had any spots (prob about a dozen) he caught it off DD who was smothered in spots. Then DH got it too on 1st day of our hol (fortunately only in Cornwall) - family hotel we were in couldn't get us out of there quick enough & gave us full refund so we didn't have to faff with insurance claim

Truffkin · 23/02/2012 22:28

Sorry for the chicken pox Ali and hope it passes soon.

Just thought I would share that Lucas is in his big cot for the first time tonight and he is loving it! The Moses was just too small for his preferred sleeping style of 'flat on the back with arms out to each side' but he looks sooo tiny in the cot! Oh, and our bedroom looks half the size, with a massive cot by the bed instead of the teeny Moses basket.

Somersaults · 24/02/2012 00:43

It won't be long before Caitlin is in her cot too but it won't fit in our room so first night in her big cot will also be her first night in her own room. We're going to Australia in a couple of weeks for a month so my plan is to put her straight in her cot when we get back. She'll gave had to adapt to a new sleeping place for four weeks while we're in Aus, then it seems daft to settle her back into the Moses basket here only to change again a few weeks later. She'll be 19 weeks when we get back so it's before the six month mark but she'll never make it that far in her Moses basket anyway. She practically fills it now at 12 weeks!

TreacleSoda · 24/02/2012 20:01

Somersaults I am being so totally nosey, so you can just tell me to sod off if you like. Or actually, just ignore me, it might be more kind!

But you mentioned your family living in Australia, I was wondering are you Australian and have moved to UK, or are you from the UK and your family have moved to Australia?

Caliphora · 24/02/2012 20:24

And as if it wasn't already enough, three weeks before she was going to meet her great granddaughter, my grandmother has gone into kidney failure and is currently in dialysis and on life support, which will be switched off tomorrow. She's opted for no revival, so if she's not well enough to breathe on her own, that's it.

All flights tomorrow morning are booked up, but even flying out to Sweden Sunday pm would cost us £540, money we don't have, and it could be too late anyway.

I'm heartbroken and need a long, stiff drink or 10. She was my dad's mum, he died in a car accident when I was young, and Abi being born was so special to her. She was so excited to come out here for the baptism and now we're praying praying praying for her to survive until we get there in three weeks time.

Apologies for the self absorbed post, but I can't write about it on FB and I need to get it out :(

Oh Cali I'm so sorry. I'll remember her in my thoughts and prayers and keep my fingers crossed that she pulls through.

Pipsbump · 24/02/2012 23:08

Hello everyone,

I was on the initial ante-natal thread when it was set up but I got so freaked out (my own fault, 2 mc) that I stopped posting. I hope that I can join this thread and chat with you ladies. I am sorry for being so rubbish.

I didn't even realise that there was a post natal thread and have spent the past few months thinking that it all ended in the ante-natal thread (total numpty). I hope everyone is well and enjoying being Mum :)

alicat10 · 25/02/2012 10:32

Cali really sorry to hear about your grandmother, hope she manages to fight off the illness - I'm sure the thought of meeting Abi is giving her strength.

Pips welcome back Grin

Well my boy is so smothered in spots & after coping really well for the 1st couple of days we had a terrible night last night - I had to hold him from 1:30-6:30 and he slept on my shoulder but would get really upset if I put him down - I think his back must have been bothering him Sad

hadak · 25/02/2012 16:07

Hi ladies. Just catching up on thread.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother cali you have been through some tough times lately - it seems so unfair.
ali hope the chickenpox gets better soon and you have a better nights sleep.
I have had my lovely niece stayi g with me this week and was due to drive her home today and spend a few days staying with my dad ( who has not yet met ds) also I had a new nephew earlier in the week who I was hoping to visit as they all live in the same area. However after a bit of thought I realised there is actually no way I could cope driving 3-4 hours with ds and having to look after him on my own whilst staying with dad as he is just so difficult and the lack of sleep would finish me. So I have decided to drive niece home tomorrow have a cuppa with dad. Say hello to new baby and head back home. I feel awful though as my dad was looking forward to meeti g little one and he isn't well enough to travel to me but I feel it is probably for the best.
We had round 2 of jabs this week and little one seemed ok.
Glad to hear the Trafford meet went well. Hope you all have a good weekend

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/02/2012 19:49

So sorry to hear about your grandma cali so unfair. You're in my thoughts.

Well, at the grand old age of 11 weeks and 4 days, we have teeth! Amazed as DD cut first tooth at 6 months. Poor DS is chewing furiously and has had calpol and teething gel on the 2 red, raised lumps on his gums. Yikes!! Very early! But at least he'll have some proper teeth for BLW (always easier, not essential though).

TreacleSoda · 25/02/2012 22:56

Cali I'm so sorry about your grandmother, that is horrible for you.

TreacleSoda · 25/02/2012 22:57

Pips consider it a reunion!

Clarabelle77 · 26/02/2012 04:09

Hi Ladies

Am I too late to join your thread? I have to confess I use this on my phone and have only just figured out how to see the newest messages and the thread was so long I gave up in the past Blush
I had my 2nd little boy in Nov and would be great to join you as I've not made it to any groups with him yet! Feel bad as went to loads with my first.
Anyway hello to you all
X

neverinamillionyears · 26/02/2012 07:35

Morning all.

cali so sorry about your grandmother. This may sound stupid in the grand scheme of things but is it possible for a video call with her? That is if course if she feels well enough. I facetime my brother a lot when I can't visit.

Ali hope the sickness with the chicken pox is subsiding, poor little thing :(

somer a trip to Australia, how lovely. I've never been but so many rate it.

mrsa TEETH!!! OUCH!!!!! I haven't investigated E mouth that well. Will do now.

Welcome pips and Clara

E has had a really gunky watery eye for a few days, once I woke up and her eye had closed with all the yellow/green gunk. I've been cleaning it with warm boiled water. No redness in eye so could be blocked duct. anyone else's Lo had this?

BTW she has been sleeping roughly 8-1am then 1.20-4.30 then wake at 7. What a difference from every 2 hours! It's that 12 week mark.

alicat10 · 26/02/2012 14:08

Welcome Clara - the more the merrier!

Well I think the worst of the pox is over (fingers crossed) - y'day evening he was chatty & smiley & playful (at 9:30pm when I wanted to be asleep but hey ho I would have been happy at any hour) & although it took me til getting on for midnight to get him down in his cot without waking & screaming he then slept in his cot all night with just an extra feed at 3 then his usual feed at 6:30. Some of the first spots are drying out & scabbing over so I think we're on the home straight now - I think it'll all be over by next weekend Smile

Got a black tie wedding do in a fortnight so desperately searching for a cocktail dress to accommodate my super-sized boobs Blush without spending too much as I probably won't be able to wear it once they disappear back to normal - going to risk an eBay purchase of something from Bravissimo / Pepperberry. Have booked a practice fake tan for Tues so been busily exfoliating & moisturising - might be the kick up the bum I need to try & sort out my post preg body... (the diet obviously fell by the wayside as soon as I got back into 'normal' clothes)

alicat10 · 26/02/2012 14:12

Never I had blocked tearducts when I was a baby - mum used to have to bathe them open with cooled boiled water - I am pretty sure what you get is yellowy like ordinary sleep stuff without eyes being too sore so there is prob a bit of infection there

alicat10 · 26/02/2012 14:15

Sorry Never you said no redness - I would still get it checked maybe take a pic before cleaning to show doc. I grew out of mine when I was a toddler (I was waiting for an appt for medical intervention when it went of it's own accord) but it lasting that long was certainly considered unusual
