Started new thread, ladies - unimaginative name, but I figured it was suitable now we've been loving it up with out seats :)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Caliphora · 20/02/2012 17:54

Alicat Exact same route here :(

Child is still really unwell, so we've extended our referral to the outpatient paediatric nurses for a week, as all that's coming out of her is water.
She's eating and is fever free, but just horrible water-poonami's every two hours.

She was supposed to have her third jabs today but we delayed them a week - I'm not upsetting anything now!

Mashpot we hardly ever do tummy time either, as DS just cries as soon as he is put on his front. He has ok neck control, and can sit in the bumbo for about 5 mins and enjoy it, but after that the head starts to sway and he gets upset.

Its funny actually, DH and I are noticing how different he is to DD. She could hold her head up almost from birth, and was always reaching for things, couldn't wait to roll over (although was a late walker). DS is perfectly alert, but he just wants to lie there and look round. He has no interest in reaching for things, in teething rings (although he almost has two teeth - and they aren't even the ones at the front), in chewing anything except his fist, or in toys, teddies or comforter blankets. The only thing he holds onto is the front of my T-shirt - although he was never breastfed, he very much cuddles into my boob and would suck the front of my T-shirt too. It makes me a bit sad, but with my previous surgery, I knew I realistically couldn't feed, so thats that. He is happy anyway.....

alicat10 · 20/02/2012 18:07

Treacle it's those snuggles that are important - DS2 like to put his hand through the gaps if I wear a shirt to snuggle the material. He is also Mr Chilled - the main reason the other 2 rolled (tummy to back 1st) was because they hated tummy time so much - he doesn't mind but equally can't really be bothered to lift his head up. He us grabbing at toys though. I have started doing his tummy time on my chest with me lying on my back as he is mire likely to try & lift his head Grin

busyboysmum · 20/02/2012 22:02

Thanks everyone, have managed to feed through it I think (hope) but it was horrid whilst it lasted.

Has anyone got a jumperoo? Just been reading the reviews on Amazon and they sound amazing - Luke loves his bumbo so much, I thought he might like this as well.

Looking forward to meeting those of you who will be at TC on Weds.

Truffkin · 20/02/2012 22:47

Glad you are recovering Busy I've heard great things about the jumperoo, but I think it looks horrible! After researching, I could be tempted by the 'ocean wonders' version as it looks a bit nicer. I feel like we have a lot of 'stuff' for Lucas already, but think he would like it as he's fascinated by anything that moves / plays music / makes sounds etc

Cali sorry to hear that you are still dealing with hospitals and illness. Think you've made a wise decision re: putting off the jabs. We have round 2 on Wednesday and I am NOT looking forward to it. DH is coming though and I'm hoping he will do the holding this time so I can do boob and cuddles for comfort once it's done!

We're back at swimming tomorrow after a week off for half term! Am looking forward to our fun activity together.

Re: boobs, mine went up to an H cup during pregnancy and have stayed that size although back size has gone back to normal. It was hard to find good nursing bras but I like the 'Anita' underwired one and now have a few. I am not looking forward to post-BFing droop though. When they are empty after a feed, I get a preview of what they will be like and it's not pretty Sad

alicat10 · 20/02/2012 22:56

I have a jumperoo - not pretty (what kid stuff is?) & does take up quite a lot of space (you can fold it a bit) but the LOs have all loved it & I much prefer it to doorway bouncers. DS2 will be the 7th or 8th child to use it as I have lent it out Grin

mashpot · 21/02/2012 10:55

Treacle that's exactly what DS is like - he is super alert and loves to lie on his back grabbing the things on his play gym but doesn't want to hold his head up! I tried him in a bumbo at baby sing along yesterday but his little head kept falling forwards into his chest. I am forcing more tummy time on him!

Having got DS to take a couple of bottles from DH in the last couple of weeks he is now refusing and yesterday screamed the house down, cries like I have never heard before, much worse than when he had his jabs. It was awful. We are going to try again every day but the problem is he's always overtired by the end of the end of the day because he hardly naps and then he just wants the boob as much for comfort as for food I suspect.

I feed him to sleep every night and now need to try and break this cycle or else I'm never going to be able to have an evening out. We're going to try some day time bottles to see if he'll take it when he's less tired and then at least I can hang on the fact that I might be able to have a couple of hours away from him in the daytime. Stressful.

Truffkin Glad you had a lovely day, minus the poo explosion!

Hope you continue to improve Busy.

I have never heard of the jumperoo but not sure I have room for it. At least the door hanging bouncers don't take up too much space. Not that I'm buying one of those either until F improves his neck strength!

sasamunde · 21/02/2012 13:45

Loving the christening story Truffkin, if poonami isn't in the dictionary it ought to be!

My boobs were A before kids and AA after DD. Loving having them back at the dizzy heights of B cup and will miss them so much I might even contemplate fake ones, sad I know, maybe as a 40th present to me in a few years..

I am saving the sleep training till 6 months or so, happy just to bf/dummy to sleep till then, I don't think Blake is actually able to learn to sleep yet.

Had a hollow laugh along with you hadak re 4 months. No sign of your DS sleeping more yet? I would definitely harass the GP about it - seems you have to be really forceful to be taken seriously by the medical profession Sad

Hope you continue to improve busy, I might be able to make it to the TC tomorrow so might see you then.

Caliphora · 21/02/2012 16:55

Sssshhhhh, do you hear that? That's the sound of Abigail having an afternoon nap....

:o

Somersaults · 21/02/2012 20:07

Are we still on for tomorrow -Starbucks at 11am? I need to bargain with DH for the car if we're going ahead! Those of you that went last time was there enough room in there for a bunch of prams? Or would I be better bringing the sling?

Cali I am very jealous of that afternoon nap! That is something that 12 weeks in we still haven't had any success with! I have many grand plans for when she finally naps!! I've been trying to bake a cake for DH in my new Kenwood since last weekend with no luck!

busyboysmum · 21/02/2012 20:39

I will be there at 11am, there is some room for prams and I will try to get the seats at the front where we sat last time if I can as then we can park some prams outside as well.

Looking forward to seeing you all x

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 21/02/2012 21:27

I'll be there at 11am, or just before. I was wondering how we will know each other - so if you seema short, dumpy lady with a beige coat and an iCandy pram hovering outside starbucks, desperately plucking up courage to ask the ladies with babies if they are mumsnetters - it's me so say hello!
If by some fluke i arrive first, i will try to get a couple of tables near the front.
See you tomorrow!

Somersaults · 21/02/2012 21:32

I have a purple iCandy Cherry. I will hover until I feel brave enough to ask 'Mumsnet?' Can't plan far enough ahead to let you know what I'll be wearing but I will probably be sporting my usual bedraggled, sleep-deprived look if that's any help.

Caliphora · 21/02/2012 21:39

Last time there was quite a large amount of groups of ladies with little babies... Check out FB pics and identify babies!

So jealous, really wish I could make it :(

Bugger, got to stay home in morn for a tile delivery now (yawn!!) gutted to be missing TC meet up (again!) was looking forward to it!!!

alicat10 · 21/02/2012 22:54

Just an update: I've ordered 3 Lady Sylvia & 3 Peace Rose bushes which should be delivered by the end of the month. The remaining £140 has been donated to A Little Lifetime Foundation (Chip's choice) in Sylvie-Rose's name - they will send a certificate to Chip & her family.

neverinamillionyears · 22/02/2012 07:26

Thankyou Ali for arranging that.

Hope you all have an enjoyable meet up today. I don't think there are any southerners on this group. I shall go and enjoy a large hit choc with all the trimmings on my own :(

I'm looking forward to Thursday as the met office are predicting a warm one.16 degrees!

Sleep wise I'm with mash and somer E rarely naps unless in our arms or in.the car. She sleeps 8-12, 12.30-2.45, 3-5.30, 5.45-7 well that was last night anyway. Giving formula at night makes no difference whatsoever to sleep but at least she did gain 6oz last week. Think she is following willows weight.10lb 2 now.

Maybe just maybe she is having 12 week growth spurt then will settle.

Have a nice day all.

TreacleSoda · 22/02/2012 09:20

Thanks Ali for sorting out the rose and the donation. Its hard to believe its been six months since she was born. So sad.

You ladies enjoy your coffee and cake. Never I feel your pain, I'm miles away from the rest of you, with a flight flown in for good measure. Speaking of which, what ever happend to Merlioness, now she really was miles away! Hope she is ok.

And thats just reminded me, what happened Stripeymummy from our antenatal thread? I never saw her post again after she said she was going in to hospital to be induced, and it really worried me because she said she had a heart condition and it was all very close monitoring for possible complications. I hope she was ok.

Poppet45 · 22/02/2012 11:16

Ali thanks for sending out the flowers. Much appreciated.
Treacle that is a worry about stripeymummy. I hope she's okay. We lost a lot of posters between the pregnancy and post natal threads and I've wondered how they're faring. I hope they just have lots of RL support and baby friends and have better things to do Grin but would love to hear how they're doing.

PamSco · 22/02/2012 11:41

Ali thanks for organising. chip my thouhgts have been with you and i've had a quiet moment with W and told him all about Sylvie Rose.

I've been off thread for a while, I never have more than a hand free. So I hope you are all doing well and loving watching your bumps blossom.

PamSco · 22/02/2012 11:43

On a local point - Who is up for a Edi/Fife/Perth meet?

Poppet thinking it would be good to head towards Fife?

Where would be easy for you to get to?

Poppet45 · 22/02/2012 11:55

Would love a meet up Pam I wonder if Dunfermline might be a good stop as an inbetween destination but I'm not sure where the Perth trains call at, it might be Kirkcaldy which I prefer as bizarrely I have lots of nice memories of the town from DD's days in the neonatal unit there but a bit of a trek for you. Or we can all meet up at mine in Dalgety Bay .
Speaking of a Scottish meetup I wonder how Knockedup and Ziggi are faring? Would be lovely to see them and any other lurkers as well as yourself, Twojacks, Folic and the rest of the bump brigade.

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 22/02/2012 15:56

Afternoon guys, from Centreparcs, where DS is not too sure exactly what to make of the swimming pool, but is loving watching the ducks menacing me for bread :)

I'm not fussed about where we meet up Edinburgh/Fife ladies, have car, can drive....

I looked for stripeymummy, but her posts finish up last autumn, so lets hope that she has namechanged or has been too busy to post. Merlioness is over on the facebook group with a bunch of others, some of who post on here and some who don't. I too wonder about a lot of the posters who have dropped off the thread, but am hoping that things are all going well for them.

Right, got to get back to doing nothing on my holiday....

alicat10 · 22/02/2012 17:13

Oh no, out of nowhere my darling not quite 4 month old appears to have chicken pox - forehead looked a bit bumpy y'day (but like eczema) & he's still coldy but this afternoon I noticed a couple of blistery spots on one eyelid & stripped him off & he has got a good smattering all over his torso which weren't there this morning. I feel like I am almost watching them appear they are coming so quick. And we've been here, there & everywhere socialising with babies & bumps over the last couple of weeks Sad. On the plus side he is remarkably chipper considering

alicat10 · 22/02/2012 17:17

PS just checked the stats thread & Stripeymummy had Eilidh on 2nd Nov 7lb 2oz Grin
