Welcome back everyone!

spirael well thats one good thing re the medicine! sorry about the job hopefully something will come up soon.
tsc hoping the scan comes back ok once it gets done.
We are still yet to have a proper tantrum, he thinks protesting for all of 5 seconds is too much like hard work, but as soon as I wheel him into a shop he does it, typical boy hates shopping!
L's eye looks awful, its all shiney from the swelling, I need to go out to docs and Asda and I really dont want to take him, a cut the the head would have looked like an accident but a black eye looks like I have hit him :( I fear im going to get judged!
His friend is coming round this afternoon, we have been invited to a soft play party in a few weeks at 9am to 11am, I had a message from the mum asking if L wants burgers, pizza or nuggets! Shock thank goodness he will eat breakfast on the way there and not want to eat! and its followed by ice cream, thought it was very odd at the time of day!

aargh J keeps SCREAMING, the kind of screams that go right through your brain. It is doing my head in! He was doing it at teatime last night and I had a proper meltdown too and flung stuff across the room and sobbed. Not productive I know. How on earth do you deal with tantrummy screaming like that?

Sorry to hear about the job spirael.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for the scan, tsc.

I went to a friend's house yesterday - her little girl is 23 months, so just 3 months older than our lot, and she (the toddler that is!) knows the days of the week, the letters of the alphabet, talks in sentences and sings songs. Then there was me with J and another friend with a little boy a month older than J with our kids just with a few words each!

I know this friend has been trying for a baby pretty much since DC1 was born without success, but she was saying how tired she was and asked me to help her move something heavy, so I was wondering if she was pg. Then on the way out I happened to glance at a letter on a pinboard on the wall which said 'Maternity ultrasound 12 APril'. Am so happy for her but don't like to say I know, even though the letter was in plain view! Awkward.

memphis83 · 21/03/2012 09:07

woodlands thats great for your friend! Her dc sounds well ahead, my half brother could point to all shapes at 20 months old and say them even octagon and rectangle, and numbers to about 8 but he is the same as all kids his age now. L is a parrot and says a lot, his new thing is Mummy where are youuuuu when I go upstairs, he also lists off everyones names, mummy, daddy, nanny, gandad, larley, tarkey, lola all day long but he still wont eat anything, I would prefer him not to say much and eat a real meal rather than slop! I just keep telling myself they all develop at different stages and catch up in the end, but at the moment I think I will be sending L off to his first job with a pot of slop! Gave him cottage pie and beans last night he ate 4 mouthfuls but before each one he gagged then he threw it all back up!
I had an appointment at 9 and the dog still hasnt been collected so have missed it grr, I rushed to get us up washed, dressed and fed!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/03/2012 09:18

Maybe she wanted you to guess woodlands, then she wouldn't have been 'in trouble' for telling you early Wink Either way her scan is only a couple of weeks away and then you can celebrate with her officially.

Both mine had a meltdown at school this morning. W because I wouldn't let him walk down the playground (nursery is right at the beginning of the playground and he wanted to walk past it) then E refused to go in [anger] Not a great start to the day

W was up x3 last night. I comforted, then ibuprofened, then ignored cos I was pissed off by that point.

Do the clocks go forward this weekend?

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/03/2012 09:28

Woodlands that's great for your friend! She's lucky she's only got a few weeks to wait for her scan, I haven't even had my booking in app yet, but then I am only 6 weeks!

Her dc does sound v advanced but I know a couple of children on that scale at her age so it's not unheard of I suppose. Our lot will catch up I'm sure!

It's amazing how differently all our toddlers are developing now! M seems to be the opposite of L, memphis. She's only just learnt to say Byebye and barely says any words, let alone stringing them together. However she does eat exactly the same as DH and I, without needing any help!

Spirael · 21/03/2012 09:31

Yes, the clocks go forward on Sunday, MLISC.

tsc thats greaty that he says so much! cant believe his counting! L 'counts' to four but doesnt sound quite English Une, doooo, eeee, fourrrrrrrr, he also says ready, steady go, we have to do this a lot when we need to get somewhere we have to make it a race as he has to shut every gate we pass that is open!
mlic at least you are getting a few hours quiet after there meltdowns! Grin
spirael L wont eat and sort of cheese Shock I tried a babybell the other day as ive tried every other way to so serve it to him and he put it in his mouth, took it out saying nooo, then said mummy and pushed it into my mouth (I hate cheese but made all the right noises to show I liked it!) L hates cakes and chocolate, but loves biscuits but they have to be plain like ritz, malted milks, digestives, no choc or anything on it, I gave him a mcvities quirk the other day he bit into it, saw the center and said Aa oooooh and put it in the bin! My friends dd eats a bowl full of brocoli every day!
Ive bakes 24 cupcakes and a tealoaf is in the oven now, cleaned the kitchen and now given up, Living room is still a tip!

W can say all of that except the numbers. He says everything is 'two' Grin

He dropped a cup yesterday and said to me 'oh no isss wet' and pointed to the floor. I was Shock He mostly just says one word at a time but says sentances like night night daddy, no stop it, get down (same theme running in mlic's house as tsc's Wink)

Spirael · 21/03/2012 14:20

Wow, I'm really impressed with some of the speaking going on! M is no-where near as good as that with words!

I think all we get is: Yes, No, Gaga (which is Grandma/Grandad/Banana), Mama, Dada, Potpot (...), Uhoh, Chiz (Cheese), More, Book, Knee, Cat, Gog (Dog), Bee, Bibi (Bird), Goga (Yoghurt), Mimi (Mindy/Me), Borba (Bauble), Bubaz (Bubbles), Byebye... I think that's everything.

It feels a little like we all speak an alien language at home sometimes. Wink

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/03/2012 15:20

I feel sick/dizzy/heart-poundy

Don't know if I feel ill, I'm having a sugar rush from half a big bag of onion rings, if it's adrenaline from playing Tetris, or if it's nerves because I'm waiting for them to ring me back to tell me if I've been shortlisted...

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/03/2012 15:56

mlisc D says everything is two as well, I count with him up and down the stairs and every step is twoooo!

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/03/2012 16:43

I didn't get shortlisted

[massive fucking failure emoticon]

WhatSheSaid · 21/03/2012 21:59

no you're not mlisc Smile

WhatSheSaid · 21/03/2012 22:23

Oh and dh's company have doubled his sales target for this financial year from last year's. Doubled. He's already out of the house 11-12 hours a day. Bastards.

cake anything come of your dh's possible new job?

kkfairybrains · 21/03/2012 23:18

You are not a failure Mlic! There are so many people going for so little jobs Sad it's so hard and it's hard to never get any further but your day will come, you just wait and see Smile.
Spiral sorry to hear about your job too. So bloody frustrating!!
Wss that is bloody ridiculous!! People are finding it so hard already and bosses just aren't making it any easier for them
E seems to be the same and mlic's W and tsc's F with the talking. She has loads of words. Couldn't write them all put it that way! She's just like a parrot! She sings songs too her favourites being happy birthday and coldplay's paradise! It's very funny!! She's saying a few sentences too and 'counting'. And she knows 1 shape which is circle and points out and says circle at anything round!
My friends niece was speaking full proper full blown conversations by 18 months. So ahead of herself and mega cute! But by the age of 3 or 4 they're all pretty much on a level par I think.
Oh vik about the weaning thing I think E was 5 months iirc. No rush on it until you think he's ready Smile

viksam · 22/03/2012 03:18

Oh mylife im sorry. Your not a massive failure at all, you must know that!

OK, i dont think i can do this any more, im numb with tiredness. D has been awake since 12.20am and is still awake now, i have got up even though F hasnt needed feeding yet, he is stiring now i think but not quite awake. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH DEVON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How..............how can he be awake for so long. He cri/winges, not a proper cry, then he will chat then he might go quiet for 5mins then it will start all over again, its like torture. I just dont know what to do or where to turn, there is no help. I have given him some medinol now but why have i done that, hes showing no signs of being in pain, i have done it out of desperation. But i cant medicate for an indescriminate reason can i? Im just at the end of my rope. Im feeling sick, and i think its my turn to get the cold that everyone else has had, my throat and ears are killing. This is no life. Im on the sofa now with both monitors on, D is STILL not asleep and has just now started crying AGAIN and shouting Mommy. What do i do...........My dh is going to loose it, im so so worried about him, he has ofsted the week after easter coming to his department so the pressure is really on him right now and i feel so bad that i cant protect him from it. Im really thinking about going to brum with the kids for a while, just to give him some space. I want to cry but i dont think i can.

WhatSheSaid · 22/03/2012 03:23

Oh blimey vik I'm sorry it's so crap. Don't worry about the medicine, I have given calpol when I just can't see any other reason for them being awake sometimes. Could be some teeth starting to come through, there's those ones they get when they are coming up to 2?

Can you get a rest in the day at all. If they both sleep at the same time, please get a rest.

It WILL get better, I had some godawful days (and nights) when G was little. A watched a lot of TV some days. Just give them TV and easy to make food you know D will eat, just do whatever it takes...it's not going to do any harm.

I can't think of any other advice, I wish I could Sad. I have been there, lots of us have.

viksam · 22/03/2012 03:33

please skip ths utterly self indulgent post, i just really need to get it off my chest
Still me, still ranting, think of the lovely sleep i would have had if it wasnt for D, F still isnt awake for a feed and i was asleep before 9.30, i could have had over 6 hrs straight, but no, oh no thats silly to think that in my house where im so carefull about routine and doing everything as right as humanly possible that D could possible sleep. Instead of 6 hrs i have had 3 and im still looking forward to having to feed and settle F which is still a difficult task in its self. Im totally wired and now so is D i think. He is STILL awake, this is over three hours now and i really think i might cry.

viksam · 22/03/2012 03:45

Thanks wss im screwed now. F isnt awake for a feed but its pointless me going back to bed, i can see D on the monitor jut plying with his muslin quietly. I would think he was asleep it i couldnt see him. The medinol would have kicked in long ago so doent seem to have made a difference. Im just sat here sobbing and feeling so overwhelmed with the whole thing. I may look in to craniol ostiopathy again and take him to the docs for a thorough check over. Poor poor boy, i just want to go in there and cuddle him but i know its not the right thing to do (and mylife would kill me!)
How can they justify doubling his sales targets?? Thats so unrealistic, whats the economic climate like there? What does he sell?
We just had the budget here, what a joke that was, its like a big game to them im sure. Seems like the middle earners are going to get punished again, we may suffer a cut in our child benefit due to DH having a main job and a business as well, even though he has to pay 40% tax on the business. You do start to wonder what the point in trying to better yourself is really.

WhatSheSaid · 22/03/2012 04:02

It's not self-indulgent at all! At least if D is awake this much at night he will have a long sleep during the day? He'll be knackered otherwise. Hopefully you can rest while he sleeps.

I remember one particularly horrific night when I was up from 1.30am apart from 1 hours sleep between 4 and 5 or something . I remember thinking in the morning "I can't believe I have to get through a whole day with them now".

Lie on the sofa whenever you can and do nothing.

Dh is in IT recruitment so he "sells" people into jobs. Last year his target was quite low as it was his first year with a new company and it takes a few months to get going, make contacts, start placing people in jobs etc. He reached above his target last year. So they've doubled it!

The economic climate's not too bad here, we've had a recession like everywhere but not too bad. We don't have a huge deficit like some European countries - they expect to be back in surplus in 2 years here. NZ"s biggest industry is agriculture (meat and dairy products) and people always need meat and milk! Tourism is the second biggest industry and it's quite a popular holiday destination, though obviously not as many people come here with them having less money for travel etc.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 22/03/2012 07:34

Oh vik I feel for you :(

What happened with that community 'sleep' lady? Please ring your HV and tell her you're struggling. If nothing else she can lend her support.

(I wouldn't have killed you btw Wink) What's his daytime sleep like? W napped too late y'day as he just wouldn't fall asleep and he woke once and has been up since 6am. The day before he wouldn't nap at all and he woke 3 times in the night - he still needs a decent daytime sleep, early enough in the day that it doesn't affect bedtime, but the logistics of that are difficult.

As he was such an early teether, and he's now only 4 months of 2yo, there is a chance his back molars are bothering him. Dentists say they get them between 2 and 3 years old, D got his others so early that it's quite possible he's getting these mega early too. And it sounds like the medinol might have helped him if he went quiet after it. Alright he didn't go straight to sleep but it sounds like it calmed him down?

Sorry 'bout last night. Just feeling sorry for myself as I am really, really struggling with being a SAHM. I can't see why/how anyone could enjoy it, unless they're rich and/or their kids are in full time school Confused Genuinely hate it.

I've just taken W's pyjama top off and he's got a rash. Fab.

viksam · 22/03/2012 10:42

Whats the rash mylife? Is he feeling ok in himself?
D's daytime sleep is pretty reliable he sleeps from 1-2.30/2.45 and generally goes down with no issues.
Just a quick post as im in a shocking mood and so is D, if you have has a shit night and the child is beyond tired, do you stick to routine or give in and put him to bed? He usually has lunch before sleep, does it really matter, im on the verge of not giving a crap about routine/housework/shopping or anything, really feel like im hanging by a thread right now. I know i know the self pity is just ooozzziiinngg out of me right now!
